Chapter 53: Misery

Vegeta opened the door to the house, Chi-Chi and Gohan were sitting at a table. Gohan frowned “Vegeta, Sunset is in your room. You need to go up there and talk to her, she is dealing with some things.”

Vegeta grimaced “She didn’t return after her martial arts gi stopped working. I need to speak to her.” Vegeta walked to their room, he opened the door to see Sunset laying there silently on the bed. Vegeta walked over to her and placed a hand on her shoulder, his eyes widened as he saw the matted fur on her face.

Vegeta changed out of his gi and placed it outside of the bedroom. He took a quick shower and the got changed laying next to her holding her tightly. The next morning Sunset woke up, she felt the warm presence of Vegeta’s muscular frame behind her. Sunset smiled slightly, at least she had him. She then sighed, Vegeta awoke as he heard her.

Vegeta sat up and looked at her with concern “You were clearly upset about something, please you can tell me.”

Sunset sat up, she looked at him “I can’t improve anymore, I was giving the power to do anything that I could ever dream but that means I can’t change or grow.” She felt tears forming in her eyes “It hurts so much. I just want to be able to grow.”

Vegeta paused as he wrapped her in a hug, he truly had no idea of how to fix this. She was so strong, he had never seen her be so vulnerable. He smiled “You can talk to me, if you ever feel bad just tell me and I’ll listen.”

Sunset rubbed her arm nervously “Okay.” She stood up and got changed into a white shirt. She then put on a pair of dark blue shorts and left the room, Vegeta followed Sunset out of the room.

Goku was sitting there eating, he paused to see the tow of them walk down. Goku frowned as he saw his mum’s tear stained “Is everything alright with mum?”

Vegeta walked over and whispered “As okay as she can be. Don’t make a big deal about it, it may only make things worse. If we all start showering with the fact we feel bad, she may feel bad about her own problems.”

Goku nodded returning to eating, Chi-Chi set down some food in front of Vegeta and Sunset. The group silently ate, once they finished Sunset walked to the door with Goku and Vegeta. Vegeta frowned as they stepped out the door “Are you going to be okay?”

Sunset smiled “I’ll be fine.”

Goku looked at him with worry. Vegeta sighed “Alright but if anything bad happens please tell me.”

Sunset closed the door as they took off Goku frowned “Are you sure mum will be alright?”

Vegeta grimaced “No but us not going will not help her. I just hope she can figure this out.”

Meanwhile back at the house, Sunset back to their room. She clicked her fingers and a glass bottle appeared in her hand. She sculled the bottle within a minute, the fiery burning of Vodka burnt at her throat. She gritted her teeth as she couldn’t even feel the alcohol in her system, she summoned another bottle and another and another and another but she still couldn’t feel it’s affects! She growled as she banished the bottle from existence “DAMN IT!”

Sunset stood up slowly and slowly walked into the bathroom She stared at herself in the mirror, tears slowly flowing down her face. She hesitantly watched the knife slowly materialise in her hand, she softly placed it on the table. She then slowly rolled up her sleeves and then bent down rolling up her pants up slowly.

Sunset picked up the knife, her hands slowly began to shudder and shake as she slowly cut into her left arm. The blood began to soak into the fur around it, Sunset looked at it with a solemn smile before repeating the process until multiple bloody gashes covered both arms.

Sunset then crouched down, watched the blood drip down onto the floor from the knife and her wounds. She then slowly delivered deep cuts into her legs, she smiled as she watched the blood dripping from each successive gash. A bottle of liquid slowly manifested on the ground next to her along with a roll of bandages.

Sunset pulled out the liquid and poured it onto the wounds carelessly, most of it oozing onto the ground spreading like sludge. Sunset slowly wrapped up the wounds, hiding the evidence from all around her. Sunset clicked her fingers, an empty longing filled her chest as the knife vanished into the air along with any remnant of her actions.

Sunset slowly staggered back into the room as she hid the bandages under her clothes.She looked a her hands as a pair of dark blue gloves manifested on them. She flopped down on the bed and her careless gaze met the ceiling, her dark blue clothes seemed to sag as if all joy had faded from the world.

Meanwhile out of the portal where Sunset had arrived, Celestia emerged from the portal once more. She walked through the forest, she approached the door of Sunset’s home. She knocked on the door and soon it was opened by Gohan.

Gohan raised an eyebrow “You are Princess Celestia, Sunset did mention you at one point as did Vegeta and Goku. May I ask why you are here?”

Celestia frowned “I wish to speak to Sunset about something?”

Sunset walked out of her room, she crossed her arms as Celestia shook slightly. Celestia could feel the seemingly endless energy coming out of Sunset, Celestia smiled as she handed Sunset a letter “Cadence is getting married.”

Sunset grinned “So Shining Armour is still with her, I remember him. He was a lanky colt that I met when sparring with some of the guards. He was very driven but a total goof-ball. He was the reason I was late for a lesson one day, he has nothing to wear for his first date with Cadence. I spent all night making a tux for him.”

Celestia blinked “You could sow?”

Sunset’s eyes narrowed “Celestia, I devoted my entire life to improving myself. I learned how to sow because I wanted to be good at more than just magic and it was useful to be able to fix my own clothes when I needed to. In fact I became very good at it.”

Celestia raised an eyebrow before shaking her head as she gave Sunset a piece of paper “This is your invitation, you also get to bring one guest to the wedding. It will be held a lit over a week form now.”

Sunset smiled “I’ll be there, I’ve been waiting for this.” Sunset headed back to her room as Celestia left, she had some stuff to do to prepare for the wedding.
