Beyond Yakyakistan and even Mount Everhoof lies a great unknown filled with mythical beasts and ponies who live on harsh, cold weather. It is the yak's duty to head north to make sure none of the monsters or violent ponies head into Equestria. However, a long forgotten evil has finally come back strong, putting the rest of Equestria in jeopardy.

Meanwhile, tensions rise between the Reformed Changelings and the rest of Equestria. Things start to go smoothly, until a theft threatens to plunder Equestria into a gigantic war.

And, unknown to Twilight, she has been gifted with a dangerous power, one that if used incorrectly, could destroy everyone and everything she has ever loved
