Prologue - Three Years Ago
Many of the lights in Canterlot were turned off. The only light there was was the moon shinning down on Equestria. Nopony would ever think about venturing out in the night.
Mr. and Mrs. Cake were simply visiting Canterlot, not long after their twins, Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake, were born. It had been a lovely weekend, until that Sunday night at about 3:04 AM. The twins had been asleep for most of the night. Meanwhile, out in the darkness, three pegasi crept though the vast city. They weren't really well known to the My little pony world yet. The each wore goggles and purple suits. Many would mistake them for the Wonderbolts. But they were far worse than the Wonderbolts.
Baby cries filled Mr. Mrs. Cake's room. They both knew the drill for diaper changing: It was Carrot Cake's turn now. But when Cup Cake had woken up, her husband seemed sound asleep. Not again she thought over his loud snoring. She nudged Carrot Cake's shoulder countless times before he woke up. They didn't even need to speak. The cries from Pumpkin said it all. "I'm going, I'm going," Carrot cake said, tiredly getting out of bed.
As Carrot Cake entered the room, he caught sight of a third pony in the room. It was dark, and hard to outline. All he could tell was that it was a pegasus that came take Pound Cake.
