The God's of Old
The Journey of study
Load Full StoryRain Flicker was a straight A student at his college for his father was the headmaster of it, his father was a strict parent as he made sure Rain was keeping up with his studies and chores around the college. Rain looked up to his father as an idol, a pony that was strict and persistent in everything that he did.
One day his father came down from his headmaster's office and down towards the playground, as he approached Rain the other ponies began to stare towards rain and his father, for he only came down from the headmasters office was to punish delinquent ponies.
“Rain, I have need of you in my office, I expect you to be there in ten mins and you know how I expect you to conduct yourself, be there at 10 at the dot..” he said, giving rain a stern look.
Rain nodded in obedience and confusion as he left his father's side going towards his father's office, Storm began to hurdle the rest of the ponies to their next classes. Shortly he met Rain in his office, Rain got up from the chair to greet his father.
“Father, am I in trouble with you?.” Rain was starting to become scared from the silence that emanated from his father. “I have done my studies on time and have my room cleaned every morning.”
“In fact you remind me of my younger years spent here learning”. Storm was reminiscing about his younger years being spent in these very halls. “Now this is about a new season of study that is coming up and I have chosen a class for you to participate in as your grades and physical abilities allow you.”
Rain was starting to calm down from his father's calm tone. “May I ask which class you chose father?”
You may and it is this one here. Storm chuckled as he pointed to a golden letter on the mighty oak desk
Storm pulled out a letter from underneath his desk, He slowly began to slide it towards Rain as he began to sit down. Rain slowly began to pick up the unassuming letter with his right hoof, as he slowly brought up the letter to his muzzle he saw Prince Blue Blood's insignia. Without hesitation he began to quickly open the letter.
After a short period of reading the contents of the letter Rain softly began to gasp in a controlled manner, as he regained his posture, Rain looked towards his father with a content smile.
“Father Prince Blue Blood has requested my audience to attend a dinner with you and him. How did that happen ?.. I mean I am nothing but a Straight A student under your firm and kind teaching's”. Rain was confused as he began to go over different scenarios in his mind.
Ah so today have been the chosen day for you to fly my coupe. storm sighed softly as he realised that he would not be able to have his loving son by his side. If i were to be honest I would say that I have been anticipating Blue blood's letter. He said with hesitation.
“Father you mean to say you knew about this..?” Rain was surprisingly shocked at this revelation. “I do not mean any disrespect with this question of course but how are you able to address royalty with such casualness?” Rain was told by his mother to never disrespect anyone that demanded it from him.
Storm began to chuckle as he stood up but as he did so he slid his top draw of the mighty oak table where it contained a framed picture of his graduating class.
“You see my son, I was a peer to Blue Blood as he to me. We have been friends for many years since then”. Storm began to chuckle as he was going to tell his son why he was so casual about the topic. “You are in the right to ask such a question as well, I am not permitted to address him so casually for the higher class demands respect in the way of formality. What they don't know will not harm them in the slightest hence it is a vanity thing.”
Rain was firm that his father need not address them with such casual intentions. “Mother taught me to address them as such father, she-”
The room filled with a loud crack cutting Rain off mid sentence. The source of the sound was Storm slamming his left hoof on to the table with a loud snort. Rain's father stared Rain down with the fury of all of the damned souls in Torturous trying to free themselves to destroy those that have wronged them in life.
“YOU... DARE TO EVEN USE HER TITLE IN MY PRESENCE ?!?! YOU OF ALL PONIES KNOW BETTER TO EVER SPEAK OF HER. Need I remind you of how to refrain from using anything regarding her hmm?!?!” Storm's tone shook rain to his very core
From the tone of Storm's voice, it echoed and vibrated throughout the campus as if it was being hit by a small earthquake. The staff and students in ear shot were startled by Storm's commanding tone. After it dissipated the quiet whimpers of Rain were heard at the adjacent side of the great oak desk.
Rain struggled to putter out “N-No sir, I beg you to spare me as you have spared my life to be under y-your wings and guidance.”
Content on the reply that Rain gave to him, Storm Gestured to the door. Rain was accustomed with that gesture, he headed out towards the door and headed to his dorm room. As Rain headed towards his dorm room the staff that were walking the halls saw rain shaken and visually upset, the head librarian wanted to try and comfort Rain but she remembered the meeting that the headmaster held. his words echoed in the recesses of her subconscious "You must leave my son Rain alone if and only if you see him shaken and upset leave him be. HE must endure his punishment.”
With a sad heart the librarian could only watch in awe of how a father could treat his flesh and blood like this. She thought that she would bake some cookies for Rain to try to cheer him up, the Headmaster never said to not bake him cookies. So after lights out she would start her family recipe to bake Rain the best choc chip cookies she could.
While Rain was making his way to his dorm room students were whispering gossip about how a straight A student would be yelled towards by the headmaster, they came up with theories on how he was the delinquent pony that came here from forests of the north. Others theorised that he was an adopted foal of the head master, none could be further from the truth of how Rain ended up in the campus and why the headmaster, his own father would treat him like the way he has for so long.
Rain slowly opened the door to his room far away from the rest of the other ponies, inside held a small space fitted for only one pony, His bed was located to the further north part of the room. It held nothing but a mattress filled with broken pieces of metal, plastic, stone and wood. This was to remind him of how he was even allowed to sleep off the floor.
His small desk where he would stay up for days studying, and in the west part of the room there was a piece of paper with the quote "ET Exquisitores Intellegentiae" (seeking knowledge) that he had written during his history class. Rain was fascinated by languages lost to time, Latin was his favourite. On Rain’s bed lies a small enclosed box as well as a small bowl filled with water, Rain knew what this signified and he loathed it. As he curled under his breath he pulled out a small dagger from the small box. The dagger was encrusted with his father's insignia, Rain grabbed the handle with his mouth as he lifted his left foreleg. His leg was littered with small scars from his previous punishments but this time he knew that this punishment would require a bigger sacrifice.
Rain quickly inserted the dagger in to his left foreleg, as he winched at the pain from the foreign metal entering his warm flesh, Rain began to cut deeper into his leg, as he slowly began to lift the dagger upwards his flesh began to slowly flay astray from his leg as gravity willed it away. Once the chunk of flesh fell into the bowl with a wet slush he began to scream in agony from the missing chunk of flesh from his leg, Storm heard Rain's screams of agony, and he began to smirk cruelly as he began to chuckle…
