I exclaim as Sunset forks over the Monopoly money. "Guess that economics course really paid off." "No kidding," Applejack replies. "Ah can't believe you won Monopoly so fast, Twilight! Nobody can win in an hour!" "Given that the longest game of Monopoly ever lasted about seventy straight days, I think it's highly possible to win in an hour." "Best I can do is two," Rainbow Dash states flatly. "Hours, that is." "Twilight, I will never understand how quickly you're able to do math," Sunset adds. "It's crazy. You know, the game is supposed to last for a long time, right?" "Forget it," Pinkie Pie says. "Now we have more time to watch a movie." We all nod in agreement. Rainbow Dash takes the hint, going over to her backpack and removing a DVD case with an image of a long-haired man in a suit holding a gun. "Since it's my turn to pick, I choose this one." It's a film none of us have ever seen. I really do hope it will be a good one. As I forage through the kitchen for a bag of popcorn and place it in the microwave, I begin to wonder just how a movie about a man in a suit with a gun could play out. It could be a spy movie, or a horror film, or a terrible slapstick movie. But with a name like that, I reckon the third guess isn't too accurate. Guess I'll find out soon enough. "Rainbow Dash, why do you insist on watching this movie?" I hear Rarity ask, putting a hand to her forehead. "Because," the rainbow-haired girl explains as she presses play on the DVD player, "It's awesome! Besides, action movies are way better than anything else!" She returned to the plush sofa, sitting herself down between Applejack and Rarity as the warning logos appeared on screen. As the movie began, I took a handful of popcorn from the bowl on the small table in front of the sofa. Applejack did the same, leaning back after she took a handful. "You know," she begins in her country accent, "I'm glad you didn't burn the popcorn this time." I manage a sheepish laugh. "Right, guess that did happen once." True, I had burned the popcorn at one of our gatherings, but hey, when you're just basing it off of sound, it can be hard to tell when it's overcooked or not. After a laugh from everyone, I turned my attention from the popcorn incident to the television, which currently depicted a cityscape at night, sirens blaring in the distance. "And besides," Rainbow Dash explains as she relaxes into the sofa, "It's my turn to pick for movie night. You should be thankful that we're not watching Phantom of the Opera again." This is followed by an almost silent cough from Rarity, along with several suppressed laughs from everyone else. "Hey, I'll have you know," Pinkie Pie says in her ever-so-cheerful manner, "Phantom of the Opera is a decent movie!" The scene on the television changes to a sudden shot of a man falling off a motorcycle before a classic car swerves in around the corner, pursuing the man. A chase scene ensues, ending when the driver of the car cuts off the motorcycle rider in a T-bone traffic collision. I feel the sofa shift behind me, followed by a pair of arms wrapping around me and pulling me in close. I gaze up at Sunset, who rests her chin on the crown of my head. No words needed here; the love we share is a bond we never need to declare, almost as if there is a connection between our minds. We watch with eyes glued to the screen as the cinema hero makes a daring raid on the enemy to get his old car back, Rainbow Dash laughing with pleasure as the long-haired character makes a quick getaway with his prized possession, guns blazing in the background. I notice that Fluttershy is a bit shaky; as kindhearted as she is, I'm certain a film like this is not her thing. But Rarity soon wraps an arm around her, rubbing her shoulder to comfort her. I find my mind beginning to wonder if the hero will get away without the bad guys catching him, and sure enough, he makes a clean escape after a brief chase, despite having pretty much ruined his expensive automobile. Sunset and I laugh as the beat-up old car rattles into the driveway, sputtering all the while before it finally gives out. Perhaps this movie won't be as terrible as I thought. Several exhilarating fight scenes and mind-boggling plot twists later, Rainbow Dash and Applejack are somehow still wide awake. One thought is in my tired mind: That movie was amazing. I see that Fluttershy is asleep on Rarity's shoulder; they look so adorable together. Soon after smiling at them I find myself dozing off in Sunset's embrace. "So," I yawn, "What now?" "Let's get you to bed, Twilight," Sunset suggests. "You look tired." "You're right, Sunset," I reply, standing up. "Everyone else should get to bed too, it's getting late." "Hey, you two lovebirds," Rainbow Dash says with a smirk as we stand up. "Need the guest room again?" "No," Sunset replies hastily. "I could say the same for you and AJ, though!" "Hehe, you got me there!" "Come on, Twilight." She leads me by the hand up to where everyone is sleeping for the night. Our sleeping bags are laid out on the floor, my own and Sunset's next to each other. We climb in, holding hands across the floor between us. Everyone has dozed off, but Sunset and I remain awake, if only barely. "Sunset, this slumber party was great. Aren't you glad we came?" "Very," she replies, giving my hand a gentle squeeze. "I love you," I whisper as I close my eyes. I hear her sleeping bag unzip, and feel her join me in mine, pulling me in close. She whispers in my ear as I fall asleep, "I love you too, Twilight." Author's Note Cue 'Lovely Day' by Bill Withers  https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/twilightsmile.png Alright, this is something that needs to be addressed. My writing style is first-person, present tense. Don't insist I change it; I won't. It's just what I prefer. Ever read Dracula by Bram Stoker? That's what I'm going for. Just thought you ought to know. No hard feelings towards anyone. Oh, and try to guess the movie they were watching.
