This morning began like any other morning with the single exception of what was going to happen after breakfast. The entrance exam and the encounter with her majesty herself felt like it had happened yesterday, but that was almost a week ago and the eagerness for her new found path ahead of her was still as fresh as ever. However, after the first implications of what was to come she couldn’t help but get nervous about what was about to become of her in the next few years, and this started to crash over her like a tsunami.
Not being able to fully utilize her magic properly, she had to resort to mundane ways of getting ready for the day. This would soon change as the seasons past and her magical abilities would grow and develop but that was to come in time. Her family was already up,along with much more excitement than her, they on the other hand were not about to train under the tutelage of royalty. Her brother was up and ready to show her to the royal grounds. He had only joined the royal guard training camp a few months ago. His commander gave him leave for today concerning the special circumstances, plus it didn’t hurt that he was already the top of this class by a long shot.
“Good morning dear! Ready for the big day?” asked her mother before picking up a jug of juice and pouring her a glass to drink. Her father looked up from the morning paper to give his daughter a smile of pride.
“Yes, good morning sweetie. You even made the front page! Isn’t this exciting?” said her father as his magic held the paper up so she could see. She was too busy in her own thoughts until the paper was in her face waving side to side. She yelped in surprise causing her father to let out one of his famous hearty laughs. “You should really pay more attention, but I can only imagine what’s going on through your head right now,” he said while getting up to finish getting ready for himself.
Still silent consumed with inner thoughts, her brother came up to her. Her face had already turned into that of deep complication and he used this to his advantage to ruffle her purple mane. “You heard him! You’ll need to be a faithful student, which means listening more often!” he said giving out his own laugh, one that could only come from the son of the man who had just left the room.
Sticking out her tongue with annoyance, she went back to finish eating her breakfast in peace. The juice was nice and tart with the sweet syrup on her pancakes to balance it out. After breakfast she went back to her room to brush her teeth and comb her hair. Swishing the mouthwash and spitting into the sink gave her prime sight of how worried she actually looked. The mirror showed a small purple filly, with big scared eyes and a nervous nature in her visage.
This wouldn’t do at all. It was bad enough her family noticed and only decided to tease her about it but she couldn’t show up looking like this. She may be young but that’s certainly no excuse to having this look about her. Taking a deep breath and exhaling she was determined to be positive about her near future and further on. This was an opportunity that never happened to just anyone, let alone in anyone’s life time. Taking a new perceptive on her endeavor gave her a new hope and brightened her mood significantly.
They were already down by the stairs next to the door waiting for the girl of the hour. Her parents had something on that was semi-formal but not nearly as fancy as something for a dinner party. Her brother had his guard uniform on, with an insignia of a recruit. This had no effect on his pride of wearing the uniform and what it meant. They all smiled and opened the door for her allowing her to go first. The morning sun hit her face, momentarily blinding her causing her to squint. When she opened her eyes she saw her front lawn but with a different light than before. This would be the last time she would leave her house. The next time she did, it would only be for visits.
This realization coming to mind almost made her mind falter but she caught herself and kept her resolve. It was going to be a good experience and she knew her parents would always be there for when she needed her. Her brother would actually be on the grounds so she might be able to visit him once his training was over. Looking behind her was her beaming parents and prideful brother. Giving them all a smile she turned around and walked to the nearest train station.
The royal grounds were close but they were given special permission to use the stop on the royal grounds. Her parents had the papers they would have to show the conductor so she had nothing to worry about except her own thoughts. She was feeling better and smiled the whole way to the station.
They arrived at the station boarding onto the car one at a time; her father stayed behind to hand their papers to the conductor. The conductor had a surprised look but knew the papers were legitimate so he went to notify the train operator. Her father then went to sit next to her mom and across her from herself and her brother. The train shortly lurched into motion taking them to her new home.
She looked out the window of the train as the city rolled by; it wasn’t a far ride but still long enough that she could look out and enjoy the scenery. Her thoughts still racing when the train came to a stop jerking her out of her reverie. She looked out the window to take the royal palace sight in with awe on her face and in her eyes. Opposite of the palace was the royal gardens which looked magnificent even from this distance; it was a famous tourist spot that no one could resist to visit.
Leaving the train and heading into the palace was a task unto itself. Her mind started to have doubts again but with sheer willpower she pushed away the negative thoughts. Her family walked out and up the main entrance that were breath taking, the beauty was incomparable to anything outside these grounds. The doors opened as soon as they got near but with was magically done, with no one behind the doors.
A rug lead the path to one of the grand rooms, and finally into the throne room. There waiting was her majesty herself. For a few moments no one in the family knew what to do other than to gaze, each stricken with awe. It took her father to collect himself and move to her majesty to get herself the rest of her family moving once again. They stopped at the foot of the stairs and kneeled to the sitting royalty.
“How are you my little pony?” the royal princess asked in a voice that could only be described as heavenly. Once again struck with awe silence was the only answer she could give. Her majesty chuckled and stood up, walking down the stairs to ask her again. “Today is a big day, so I can understand how you must feel, but I really would like to hear it from yourself.”
Shaking her head and looking up to her future mentor, she smiled and said, “I will be your faithful student.”
