Chapters Day 1: Week 1 || The Disturbing Encounter
"DAMMIT!" A certain rainbow-haired girl yells from the living room. Following the sound of her loud outburst, she slams her cell phone on the coffee table. It echoes in the house and catches the attention of the other occupant of the house.
She is very frustrated, if it wasn't that obvious to tell before. She just received life changing news, and she wasn't liking it. One would say she's over exaggerating, but knowing Rainbow Dash, this was a big deal.
Footsteps could be heard from the top of the stairs coming down. The other occupant, a boy, was confused as to what all the ruckus was about. He made his way to the living room, and rolled his eyes upon seeing the fuming girl.
"Judging by how angry you are, they didn't tell you what you wanted to hear, did they?" The freakishly tall boy asked. She simply scoffed and buried her face in her hands.
"All the airlines in France are shut down, so that means-" Rainbow tried to explain, but was rudely interrupted.
"-I'm going to be stuck with you for months." He groaned and pounded a fist against the wall, almost puncturing a hole in it.
"Jeez Soarin, at least let me finish when I'm talking!"
Rainbow Dash and Soarin Skies hate each other's guts. The two have known each other since they were in the womb because their parents are the best of friends. One would think that during all that time spent together, Rainbow and Soarin would learn to enjoy the other's company, but it's the opposite for them, actually. The more time they spent together, the more their hate for each other grew. Their hate for each other is exactly why their parents went on vacation in France: to get away from their children.
Now, the two sixteen year olds are trapped inside their house because of the spread of the so called "Equis Virus". The entire world is on lockdown, so things such as schools, hospitals, and restaurants are closed. Anyone who steps foot outside without a mask is taken under custody until the lockdown is over. Only essential workers are allowed outside, but solely for the purpose of work, and nothing else.
The government has also made exceptions for grocery stores and hospital emergencies. Other than that, no gatherings that involve more than ten people are allowed. Restaurants must be take out or delivery, taking walks are discouraged, and pools . . . are open for some reason.
"How am I supposed to spend the next few months in the same house as you? I barely lasted a week!" Soarin exclaims as he throws his arms in the air. "I might accidentally kill you before we're actually let outside."
"Not if I kill you first," Dash grumbles.
"You're a foot and one inch shorter than me. All I have to do is step on you and you'd be dead." Soarin taunts her as a smirk creeps onto his face. He knows Dash is the more physical one out of the both of them, but she never wins the fights.
"YOU WANNA FUCKING GO?!" Dash rolls up her imaginary sleeves and clenches her fists. Her eyebrows are furrowed as low as they can go, and her eyes burn with fury.
"Dash, don't get yourself in another fight you can't win." He warned her, but she didn't listen as she launched at him. Soarin had the advantage over her, considering he was bigger size-wise. Before she could reach him, Soarin pushed her back so she would fall on the couch. He placed himself on top of her with his two legs on either side of her. "You know, under different circumstances, this would be rather sexy." He bounced his eyebrows and puckered his lips. His thumb stroked her bottom lip, hoping for a reaction out of her.
Dash was completely mortified. Her face turned a deep shade of red in contrast to her pale blue skin. She squirmed underneath him and attempted to get out of his grasp. She'd rather be anywhere than the position she was in right now. Sweat dripped down the sides of her face as Soarin licked his lips. Her body went limp. She lost another fight, again.
This isn't the first time Soarin teased her to win against her. She considered it cheating because she always lost when he did so. She doesn't understand why he does it, especially since there are so many other ways to beat her. They hate each other, so why this method?
"G-Get off of me." She stuttered. The blush never left her face. Soarin slowly crawled off of her, his gaze never leaving her eyes. His hand accidentally brushed against her thigh, and she let out a small yelp. Her breath hitched, and a satisfied grin appeared on Soarin's face. At this point, Dash was sure he was doing it on purpose.
Once she was free from him, she jumped off the couch and practically ran away from him. Sure, he's done this multiple times before, but this time was different. First of all, he usually did it in public to humiliate her, but now it was just the two of them. Something about what had just happened was even more humiliating than before. No, that's not it. What was that feeling she felt as she was under him?
════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*════
Soarin stares in confusion as Rainbow Dash bolts out of the room. What was her deal? He always did this to her as a method to get her weak side out. Her "tough girl" act is annoying to him, and he wanted to see her stop for once. It clearly worked this time, but maybe a little too well. The look she had on her face once she hopped away from him didn't sit right with him. Did he go too far this time?
Everyone has a weakness, and Dash's seemed to be when Soarin was teasing her. Dash has yet to find out what his weakness is. Until then, she won't be winning physical fights anytime soon.
Soarin exaggeratedly shook his head to get the thought off his mind. Why did he care about how she felt anyway? If anything, he should be glad she was nervous or afraid because he loathes her. He can't remember a time in his life when he actually felt sorry for Rainbow Dash.
He thought about fixing something to eat for himself since he was hungry, but he heard clattering in the kitchen. It sounds like Dash was making dinner already. She never made food just for herself. Everyday this past week, she always made sure to leave some food on the side so Soarin could have something to chow down on. He didn't understand why though. Thanks to his mother, he was capable of cooking, and Dash knew that.
Soarin drags his feet to the kitchen to catch Dash's attention, but she ignored him regardless. He made loud stomping noises until he was right behind her, but it was as if no sound was made at all. He squinted his eyes and saw white objects in both her ears. A faint sound came from her ears, so Soarin moved the small piece of hair that covered her ears.
SkyPods .
Dash squeaked as she felt another presence alert the nerves in her ear. She blushed in embarrassment for letting her guard down. She turned her face away from Soarin and went back to what she was doing.
"Why are you always making food for the both of us?" Soarin asks with confusion. Dash just shrugged and went back to her cooking, but he was persistent. "My mom taught me how to cook. I can do it myself."
"Mom taught me I should always be a good host to my guests." Dash replied flatly as she poured the spaghetti into a strainer over the sink beside her to let the water drain.
"But I'm not just any guest I -" Soarin throws his arms in the air and looks back at her. "- you don't even like me!"
"Why do you all of a sudden care whether or not I cook for the both of us? This is my house, and it'd be rude to not serve you." Dash pours the spaghetti back into the pot and turns down the heat of the stove so it doesn't burn.
"Are you mad because I teased you?" The words struck her like a baseball bat to the skull. She quickly made a face that Soarin had barely seen before it went back to its neutral state.
"Shut up," was all she said.
"I take that as a yes then."
"SHUT UP!" She erupted in his face. Her fists were clenched and she was ready to fight him, but she knew that wasn't a wise choice. "How would you feel if I suddenly pushed you back on the couch and hovered over you with my legs on each side of your body? Please answer that for me, Soarin!" How could he even ask her this ridiculous question? Did he expect her to shrug the situation off?
"Stop being a baby, Rainbow Dash. I do that to you all the time." His arms crossed and he rolled his eyes as if this was one of their everyday arguments. Well, it was, but the topic is just a little off today.
"Why do you do it? I don't understand." She tugs at her messy bangs in frustration. The wristband on her wrist caught her attention, so she began to toy with it to calm her nerves.
"Because I know I'm your weakness."
Dash was ready to retort again, but the smell of something burning interrupted her. She took a look at the spaghetti on the stove and gasped in horror. CRAP, CRAP, CRAP! Using the spatula propped on the handle of the pot, she fished through the clump of spaghetti and found dark marks on the bottom. The burnt spaghetti stained the pot it was being cooked in with more burn marks.
I swear, I turned the heat of the stove down. It shouldn't have burned like this! She let her guard down for literally a minute because of the annoying bastard in her house, just to waste an entire box of spaghetti. At least I didn't burn the house down.
"Dinner looks great tonight, Dash!" A deep growl was heard, and Soarin thought a bear broke into the house before he saw the expression on Dash's face. Her upper lip twitches above her clenched teeth.
"Well, I'm not going to let this go to waste." Dash separated the burnt noodles from the rest and dumped it in the trash. She grabs the jar of tomato sauce along with the chopped vegetables on her right and dumps them into the pot. She mixes them all up with a wooden spatula, watching the red color of the tomato sauce soak into the spaghetti. "Help yourself." She gestured to what's left of the food she made on the stove as she faced Soarin.
"Wait, aren't you gonna eat?" He grabs her arm as she walks out of the kitchen.
"Why do you all of a sudden care so much?" She asks as she snatched her arm out of his grip. Silence filled the air as Soarin tried to gather words to answer her question. Because of her impatience, Dash stormed away from him and stomped up the stairs.
════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*════
"I can't do this!"
"Darling, it's only been an hour."
Rainbow Dash is currently FaceTiming three of her amazing, but ridiculously annoying friends. Yes, annoying is a rather "harsh" word to use against your friends, but it's the right word. Plus, she wanted to distract herself from a certain someone, but her friends just had to remind her that she wasn't alone in her house. Her bedroom was the only place she could be without that someone barging in. For now.
"Rarity, you don't understand what it's like to be trapped in the same house with someone you hate," Dash scoffed. Rarity raised a finger in the air to indicate that she was going to say something, but Dash beat her to it. "No, Sweetie Belle does not count." Rarity lowered her finger sheepishly as the others gave her weird looks.
"Honestly, you just need to get to learn to get along with Soar'n," Applejack, another one of her best friends, commented. Her words were always wise and truthful. Dash wanted to say she was wrong, but she fought the urge to.
"Mhmm," Pinkie Pie hummed in agreement. "If you don't put your differences aside, you just might die from him murdering you before you can die from Equis." Dash shook her head at Pinkie's joke. It was as hilarious as it was true. Soarin might not kill her physically, but definitely figuratively.
"Even if I wanted to get along with him, he did something really weird to me today, and I'm trying to avoid him for the time being." Dash shivered at the awkward encounter with Soarin that occurred just an hour ago. Just when she thought he couldn't hate him more, he hops on top of her and teases her.
"The hell did he do?" Applejack asks with a hint of overprotection in her voice. She's always watching out of her friends in every aspect of their lives. They call her the "mother" of the group along with Rarity.
Dash felt uncomfortable trying to explain what happened because of how disturbing it was to think about. She shouldn't have mentioned it, honestly.
"He . . . teased me . . ." Dash slams her eyes shut as another wave of shivers crawl up her spine. Pinkie Pie, who was previously drinking a glass of water, spat it out so suddenly that the other three jumped back in surprise. A huge wave of water launched at the camera, and Pinkie's screen went black.
"Uh, guys?" They heard her say from the other end. "I think I need a new phone." Rarity and Applejack were so busy trying to process what just happened, they completely forgot what made her spit all the water out in the first place. Dash wasn't too upset about it though. Sure, she wanted to ask her friends why on earth Soarin would do such a thing, but maybe it wasn't the best time.
Rarity saw Dash's expression change to a more comfortable look, and she immediately shook her head in disbelief.
"Don't think I forgot about what you said, Rainbow Dash! I want answers!"
Dash mentally smacked herself for thinking her friends would back down so easily. Of course they wouldn't forget. They just found out the person she hates the most came onto her.
"What am I supposed to say? I don't know why he did it!" Dash toyed with her wristbands again. Fidgeting helped her calm down when she felt like hyperventilating. That's why she always wears the wristbands.
Her friends saw her fidgeting and knew something was up. Dash only fidgets when she's nervous, worried, or scared. This must be a really big deal.
"Rainbow, this isn't the first time he's done this to you. Though it's rather . . . disturbing to watch him do that, I don't understand why it's bothering you now," Rarity says with a hint of confusion. Dash didn't respond to her. She just stared down at her wristbands and continued her fidgeting.
"I don't think she's comfortable talking about it right now, Rares," Applejack points out. "We ain't done here though. We'll get back on the subject when Fluttershy and Twilight figure out how to answer their phones." Rarity and Dash nod in agreement before a crash was heard on Pinkie's line of the phone.
"I NEED A NEW PHONE NOW!"
Everyone except for Pinkie took the opportunity to end the FaceTime call. They didn't want to hear Pinkie screaming at her parents for any longer. At least, they assumed it was her parents she was yelling at.
After hanging up, Dash lightly throws her phone on the pillow beside her. She takes deep breaths and tries to clear her mind from whatever the hell just happened, but nothing seemed to work. The same moment that happened just an hour and a half ago kept coming back to her mind. Honestly, why wouldn't it? It's not everyday your nemesis teases you like that.
She needed to calm down ASAP. She fished through the nightstand beside her bed and found one of her favorite Daring Do books inside. Yeah, a book sounded really good right about now.
Author's Note
Hi! Breathiniana here
This is my first story on FimFiction. I originally wrote this story on Wattpad, and my friends said I should also publish the chapters of my book here. It may not be perfect or well written, but I'm just doing this for fun.
Day 2: Week 1 || Affection
Yesterday was an awfully interesting day, especially for Soarin. Rainbow's new attitude towards him made him feel like he had done something really bad. She could barely face him anymore without getting all flustered. He shouldn't have done that to her. No, he doesn't feel sorry for her. He just misses being able to yell at her without any awkward tension.
Since the first time he teased her (which was a year ago), she hasn't been the same. Even though they hated each other, they could manage to be in the same room for at least an hour. Now, Rainbow can't even last a minute. She'd always find an excuse to leave the room.
Last night, she had gone downstairs to eat Soarin's leftovers because she was famished. She entered the kitchen and saw him sitting on the counter with a troubled look on his face. Not wanting him to see her, she immediately turned around and tried to escape. This didn't go unnoticed by Soarin though. Her rainbow hair compared to the nude color of the walls made her really stand out.
"Dash!" Soarin raced after her before she could put her foot in the first step of the stairs. "Aren't you hungry?"
"Not anymore," she grumbled and stomped around him, not bothering to look at his face.
════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*════
The next morning, Soarin decided to get to the bottom of things. He needed to know why she was trying to avoid him. It would be pointless because they're stuck in a small house together anyways. They'd cross paths multiple times, whether she liked it or not. Okay, the house isn't actually small, but it's not like being in a large, open space.
Soarin tiptoes to Dash's room where he knew she was still sleeping. For as long as they've known each other, he's actually never stepped foot inside her room. She never allowed it, claiming there were "private things" in it.
He checked the clock at the end of the long hall for the time. It was only ten minutes before noon, so waking her up shouldn't be a big deal, right? Right ? He was definitely going to regret this, but it'd be worth it.
DON'T GO IN THERE.
Soarin slowly opened the door and saw the rainbownette sleeping soundly on her bed. He heard rumors from his friends that she snores, especially when she's in class, but that didn't seem to be the case here. If anything, she slept quieter than he did.
Her bed is in the middle of the right wall, parallel to the door. Across the bed was a dresser with a tall mirror attached to it. Opposite of the door was a window with white colored curtains covering it to block out the sun. In front of it was a long, black table with all her schoolwork on it. The walls were painted a sky blue color, and the ceiling was painted with clouds. Soarin wouldn't mind having a room like this, and he's surprised he'd never seen it before.
He diverts his attention back to the main reason he was here in the first place: to get answers. He tiptoed over to Rainbow's sleeping figure and was about to roughly shake her awake, but he heard a noise come out of her. It sounded like a groan, but he wasn't too sure.
Instead, he placed his hand on her shoulder to slowly wake her up until he felt something warm touch it. He looked down and saw Rainbow clutching onto his hand tightly. He tried to break free, but her grip only tightened. She would not let him go.
"Mmm, Soarin," she softly moaned. Soarin's face had a look of pure terror as he heard her say his name while sleeping. What on earth was she dreaming about? Hopefully it wasn't about him and her . . . Doing stuff. He heard her moan again, and she began stroking his hand with her thumb. "Hmmmm."
Did she know he was there? Was she playing tricks on him as revenge for what he did yesterday? It seemed like something Dash would do, but something was telling him that she was really asleep. She couldn't have known he was going to come into her room and wake her up. Is this real life?
Suddenly, she changed her position to where she was facing him, but her eyes were still closed. Her grip on him did not change. Soarin shivered as he felt her warm breath in his arm. As dangerous as it would be for him, he REALLY wanted her to wake up. He couldn't take it anymore, so he did something he knew he'd regret doing once she was conscious of the situation.
He leaned towards the side of her face and bit down hard on her ear. It worked like a charm, because the moment after she felt the pain on her earlobe, her body sprung upright. She was still unconsciously clutching onto his hand. Soarin was completely silent as she let out a raspy yawn, and his hand was STILL in hers.
"Rainbow Dash?" He whispered, quickly catching her attention. Her eyes grew the size of basketballs as she saw the teenage boy standing beside her. Not knowing what to say, she screamed in confusion as to why he was in her room in the first place.
"WHAT. ARE. YOU. DOING. IN. HERE?!" She gritted through her teeth.
"Nevermind that," Soarin rolled his eyes and fixed them on her. "The real question is why you were saying my name in your sleep." He chuckled a little as he watched her turn as red as the color in her hair. "What was with all the moa-"
"See, this is exactly why my room is off limits!" She yelled, not bothering to answer his question. Soarin didn't take that as an answer, so he asked her again.
"What was your dream about, Dash?" He smirked as he felt her grip on him tighten. Wait, why was she still holding onto him? Does she not know what's in her own hand?
She still didn't answer his question. How was she supposed to tell him that she was dreaming about the two of them doing weird, intimate things? She's supposed to hate him, but literally everything is telling her not to. Her friends, the dream, even Soarin himself in a way. In her heart, she desperately doesn't want to hate him anymore, but her mind says otherwise.
"I can't tell you," she chooses to reply. Now he's going to be even more suspicious. Nice going, Dash.
"Why not? Was it about me and my handsomeness?" Soarin puckers his lips and bounces his eyebrows up and down. He always makes that face when he compliments himself.
"Shut up, douchebag. Not everything is about you," she nearly snapped.
Dash looks down at her right hand, which was gripping onto her nemesis' hand. Jeez, she's so drawn to him that she absentmindedly grabbed him in her sleep. From the corner of her eye, she could see him staring down at her, probably confused as to why she was still holding him.
"Are you . . . Gonna let go?" He asked her. She released his hand once she noticed he saw her looking. He's never going to leave me alone for that .
"Get out," Dash says, but not loud enough for Soarin to hear.
"What did you say?"
"GET OUT!" Her index finger pointed in the direction of the door, signaling for him to leave. She didn't want to kick him out, but she needed time alone. This is not how she planned out her morning.
Soarin didn't hesitate once she yelled at him. He let his feet guide him to the door, but his eyes never left hers. Due to him not paying attention to what was in front of him, he slammed into the wall beside the door, breaking his gaze. Hoping she didn't notice (even though she was staring directly at him), he sped out of the door and slammed it behind him.
What just happened?
════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦✧☾.·:·.*════
The time is 4:32pm, and the house had been oddly quiet since the event that happened at noon. Rainbow Dash hasn't left her room since she woke up, meaning she hasn't showered, brushed her teeth, or even eaten since yesterday. Dash loves to eat, so this was rather strange for her. In the four and a half hours that Dash spent in her room, she did absolutely nothing but stare up at the ceiling. Her mind was occupied with thoughts of things that didn't even make sense.
Why did Soarin come into her room without permission? For years, he's respected the rule she put in place, but today he just broke that rule. If he was trying to get in her nerves and wake her up, it clearly backfired because he . . . Heard something else. At least he didn't look inside her nightstand. That would've been embarrassing.
Soarin, on the other hand, did his usual morning routine. He wasn't going to let another awkward encounter ruin his day. Except it did. After washing up and eating breakfast, he locked himself in his room as well. Unlike Rainbow Dash, he actually did something "productive" besides just staring off into space. Unfortunately, he couldn't enjoy any of it because his mind wouldn't let him forget about this morning. Brains suck, don't they?
Soarin should've listened to his conscience before he invaded Dash's privacy. He can't figure out what was more awkward about his first time in her room: the fact that she said his name in her sleep, or the fact that she grabbed him. Speaking of her grabbing him, why didn't she let go of his hand once she saw she was holding it? What stopped her?
The atmosphere of the house was making the two teenagers uncomfortable, and they couldn't take it anymore. They hated being isolated in their room, so they both had the idea to go watch some television in the living room. Both of them.
════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*════
Rainbow Dash leapt up from her bed and grabbed a purple robe from her closet. She then exits her room to go to the bathroom, which was just across the hall. After entering the bathroom and closing the door behind her, she brushes her teeth and gets ready for a nice, long shower. If the idea of watching television didn't come to her mind, she wouldn't have found the strength to wash up.
After showering, Dash dries her body off and puts her robe over it. Finally, she gets dressed in a pair of blue booty shorts with white and pink polka dots, and a white crop top with red sleeves. It was one of her favorite outfits because it didn't make her feel like she was wrapped up in a burrito.
She jogged down the stairs and headed for the living room. She was excited to finally get out of her room for the day. What type of show or movie would she be watching today? Maybe something funny? Or even an action movie. Oh, how she adores action. Daring Do it is-
Her thoughts were interrupted when she bumped into something. She assumed it was a wall because of how hard it was, but then she realized it was just Soarin's chest. Wait, SOARIN'S CHEST?
"Oh my god," she groaned. Dash was about to turn on one heel and get herself out of that situation, but Soarin got a hold of her hand. A light blush creeps onto her face, and she tries her best to hide it. She twists and turns her wrist to slip out of his grasp and almost succeeds, but of course, Soarin caught her again. "Let me go."
"Rainbow, don't you hate how we’re all of a sudden avoiding each other?" He asks her. She refused to face him because she can never take her eyes off him, and she could never understand why. Soarin cups her chin with his hand and forces her to look up at him.
"Let go of me, now ."
"Don't you miss yelling at me without all this awkward tension? I know you miss it, Dash."
"You ruined it for us, Soarin!" She suddenly snapped. "I'm not some toy for you to play with because there are no other girls around! Just leave me alone." Soarin's grip on her lightened, and she took the opportunity to rip herself out of the position she was in. Her breath became heavier by the second, and she was having a hard time breathing. She wasn't wearing her wristbands because she had forgotten to put them in after her shower, so she had nothing to fidget with.
Soarin sighs as he sees her hyperventilating. This really is his fault, isn't it?
"I ruined it, so let me fix it," he begged, practically on his knees. "Please."
Dash saw the determination in his eyes. He wasn't going to give up unless she told him yes, so she reluctantly gave in.
"Fine."
════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*════
"I don't wanna watch that!"
"This is the twentieth movie you've rejected!"
"I'll reject more if you don't let me pick!"
If you guessed that Soarin and Rainbow are arguing again, then you guessed correctly. They can't seem to decide what type of movie they want to watch. Soarin wants to gush over a romance movie, while Dash wants to feel the rush of an action movie. Things seem to be back to normal...for now.
"Ok, what movie do you wanna watch?" Soarin politely asks Dash. His left eye twitched from being a little too nice to her.
"Not a sappy romance movie. I don't want to watch people kissing and crying over a break up," she pouted. Soarin noticed Dash looking off to the side and not paying attention to the television in front of them. He clicked the "select" button on the remote and picked a romance movie, despite not knowing what it was about.
When Dash heard sound from the television, she whipped her head towards Soarin, almost growling at him.
"What type of movie did you put on?" Before he could answer, she snatched the remote out of his hands to check the name of the movie. "Seriously, Soarin? TANGLED!? What are we, elementary schoolers?"
"I clicked a random movie, okay? Plus, Tangled is not just for elementary schoolers. There's a scene with a noose in it," Soarin defends the movie. Dash's hand absentmindedly flew to her neck. She didn't even want to think about how that felt.
"I feel like you're lying, but okay."
"Should we change the movie?" He groans internally. They've been at this for an entire hour. There's no way they're going to end up actually watching something.
"No." She responded, letting the movie play. Soarin was shocked that she didn't fight back against him. He expected to argue about movies until midnight like they usually did, but something stopped her.
"This is the story of how I died."
Dash rolls her eyes at the ridiculously stupid line. Why did she agree to watch the movie again?
"Doesn't he come back to life?" Dash asks, but it was more of a statement because she knew the answer.
"Shh," Soarin silences her by placing a finger over her lips.
The main character, Rapunzel, has been locked in a tower for eighteen years since she was kidnapped from the kingdom of Corona. She has seventy feet of long, golden, healing hair that turns brown when it's cut. An ancient old lady, Mother Gothel uses Rapunzel's hair to keep herself young. One day, Rapunzel decides she wants to- actually, we've all seen Tangled, correct? No more unnecessary explanations.
Halfway through the movie, Dash began to feel her eyelids get heavy from keeping her eyes fixed on a screen for so long. She rested her head on an object closest to her and closed her eyes. She unconsciously cuddled into whatever she was laying on.
Oh for Pete's sake, Rainbow Dash, it's only been 47 minutes. Could you make this any more cliche?
Soarin felt something hit his right shoulder, so he looked down to see what it was. Surprisingly, he saw that Dash was cuddled into him. He snorted at the sight and proceeded to shut off the TV. He didn't realize how dark it was inside, and that the TV was literally the only source of light.
To make sure she was actually asleep, Soarin slowly opened one of her eyelids. Her eyeball rolled to the back, indicating that she was, in fact, asleep. He took this opportunity to do something she'd never let him do if she was awake: he gave her a light peck on her forehead. She released a soft sigh as if she was aware of the kiss. Soarin could've sworn he saw her smile afterwards, but it was most likely just in his head.
He carried her bridal style upstairs and down the dark hall to her bedroom. This would be the second time he goes in without her permission, but she couldn't complain. He was simply taking her to her bedroom like the gentleman he is. Using his foot, he kicks the bedroom door open, not wanting to accidentally drop the sleeping girl in his arms. Plus, the door wasn't fully shut.
He moved the covers of the bed and slid her underneath, pulling them over her body afterwards. As he let go of her, it felt as if a part of him was ripped off of him. Rainbow didn't seem to like the fact that she felt alone either. She grabbed the closest thing to her (which happened to be a pillow) and hugged it as if it was a person.
"What a cutie," he whispers. If Dash has heard him say that, she would never speak to him again. He moved some strands of her hair out of her face so it didn't tickle her face while she was sleeping. "Goodnight, Rainbow Dash." He gave her one last forehead kiss before leaving her room.
After he left, Rainbow Dash's eyes widened from what had just happened. No, she was never asleep. It was all a test to see what he would do if she suddenly fell asleep on him.
"G-Goodnight Soarin," she waved at the door, even though he was long gone.

Aaaaand, the second chapter. Some might say things are moving to fast but after I get to the fourteenth, you'll understand.
Day 3: Week 1 || Lies
Rainbow Dash woke up the next morning feeling warm inside. She didn't understand why her body was so hot after waking up. Well, she does have thick cloud-like covers that always make her sweat at night. Maybe that was it? Speaking of sweat, she really needed to take a shower. She smelled like she had run three marathons the night before. She couldn't breathe without gagging at herself. Yeah, that bad.
She took a long, 40 minute shower to make sure all of the nasty bacteria on her body died so she didn't smell like garbage anymore. She dressed into black leggings and an oversized blue hoodie for comfort. A black elastic band on her dresser caught her attention, and she used it to tie her hair into a high ponytail. Beside her dresser was another long mirror that she could she her entire body with. She turned so her back was facing the mirror and lifted up the back of the hoodie so she was staring directly at her ass.
"Damn, Dash. That's one hell of an ass," she complimented herself. She clicked her tongue at the sight and pulled the hoodie back over it.
She checked the time in her phone and smiled as she saw she didn't wake up too early or too late. It was just a couple minutes past her breakfast time, so she ran down the stairs to make something for her and Soarin to eat.
Speaking of Soarin, why was he all of a sudden being so affectionate? He said himself that he misses yelling and fighting with her. He never mentioned forehead kisses. Did he know she was actually awake? Maybe he was teasing her again. Who knows?
The real question is why she didn't smack him for doing so. If it was any other day, he would've gotten twenty punches in the face. Dash blushed upon remembering how careful he was with her when he carried her up the stairs. Why didn't he just leave her on the couch? What difference would it have made? He knew she could sleep just about anywhere without a problem.
As she walked down the stairs, she smelled the aroma of food from the kitchen, making her mouth water. Was Soarin making breakfast already? She made her way unto the kitchen and saw him turning the knob of one of the stove tops to "OFF". The table was already set with pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and different kinds of fruit.
"Good morning, Dasherina!" Soarin greeted as he placed two cups on the table filled with orange juice.
"H-Hi," she replied, though her attention was on the neatly set table. She was going to have to step her game up if she was going to top this. "Why did you make breakfast? I was gonna do it."
"Well, I told you I was going to fix the mistake I made two days ago, and that's just what I'm doing." He took her hand and led her to the table. He pulled out a chair and gestured for her to sit. She did as he requested and he pushed her chair in. He took a seat directly across from her.
"I just feel like you're being abnormally nice to me," she pointed out. Soarin laughed as he fixed a plate for himself.
"Do you want me to be mean to you?"
"N-No! I . . ." Dash trailed off and thought to herself for a second. Is it wrong for him to just want to be friends? Why was she bothered by something she should be glad was happening? "Thank you, Soarin." She proceeded to fix a plate for herself as well, but she realized he had already done it for her. Something must be wrong with her peripheral vision and/or sense of smell if she didn't notice a plate full of food in front of her.
"It was nothing," he replied humbly.
Dash grabbed the syrup bottle beside her and squirted some of its contents on her waffles. As the syrup spread into the holes of the waffles, her eyes landed on Soarin, who was quietly eating his breakfast. The window beside them allowed the sun to shine through and directly hit him with its rays.
His chiseled face and sharp jawline were enhanced from the sun rays. She noticed a little stubble on his face that she never really took the initiative to pay attention to. It wasn't very noticeable at first glance due to it being very short. He had told her he was growing a beard, but would occasionally shave it due to not wanting it.
Has he always been this . . . handsome?
"Dash, you're making a mess."
She flinched as he heard him speak. She looked down at her plate and realized her entire plate was covered in syrup. How long was she staring at him for? It couldn't have been too long because she only got the time to look at three of his features. She hadn't gotten the chance to look into his eyes.
"I cannot believe I just wasted the food you took your time to prepare," she groaned and nearly face planted, but she held herself back after remembering there was a plate full of syrup in front of her.
"It's not a big deal," he shrugged and was about to take her plate, but she slapped his hand away.
"It is a big deal! Our parents only send 400 dollars for us to use a week, and I just wasted 20!" She took her fork and stabbed them into her waffles, taking a bite out of them despite how soaked they were. Some syrup missed the entry of her mouth and stayed in the outside corners of it.
Without saying a word, Soarin grabbed a napkin and wiped the corners of her mouth. She didn't even ask for his help, yet he did anyway. Dash felt her cheeks burn up as she felt his fingers through the napkin. Once he was done, he licked his thumb and wiped any remaining stickiness away from her face.
"All clean!" Soarin exclaimed with an ear-to-ear grin in his face. Dash just stared with her mouth agape from his sudden gesture. He noticed she wasn't moving apart from the rise and fall of her chest, so he ran his fingers through her hair to get a reaction out of her. This action only caused her to be even more stiff than before. "Looks like I broke you, huh?"
"Uuuuhhhh," she squeaked. "I should finish this." Dash reluctantly ate the rest of her plate, getting syrup stuck on her face from time to time. Soarin sat beside her and made sure her face was clean at all times. She purposefully put some on her face once to see if he would wipe it off, and he did.
The moment her plate was clear, Soarin took her plate and put it in the empty dishwasher along with his. She insisted on helping him clean the table, but he declined due to wanting to do it himself.
"Why won't you let me help you? This is my house."
"I already told you why, Rainbow Dash," he answered her question.
"See, now you're calling me by my full name. You never do that!" In this case, Dash wasn't right or wrong. On some occasions, Soarin would call her by her full name, but only when absolutely necessary. He usually refers to her as "Dash" or "Rainbow".
"What is wrong with calling you by your name? Honestly, what is your problem?" Soarin asks with his eyes squinted, showing confusion. "You're all of a sudden getting upset at every insignificant little thing I do."
"Why wouldn't I, Soarin? First, you offer to watch a movie with me. Second you make an entire breakfast for the both of us. And third, you're wiping off messes I made on my own face as if I'm your-" Dash cuts herself off as she states her third reason. She wouldn't dare finish that sentence, ever. She backed away from Soarin and ran up the stairs to her room, not letting him get another word out.
Soarin watched as she scurried away, completely dumbfounded as to what just occurred. He found it hilarious that she didn't like him being nice to her. He thought about the last sentence she said before she ran off. He knew exactly what she was going to say, and exactly why she cut herself off. He smirked as he realized what that meant. Everything was falling into place.
════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*════
Rainbow Dash grabbed her cell phone out of her nightstand and quickly opened the messages app. She had something urgent to tell all of her friends. She tapped on a group chat called "Stupid Hoes" (named by her of course) and sent a text message saying:
Rainbow Dash: FaceTime call NOW
In just an instant, she felt her phone vibrate in her hands. The screen was taken up by a FaceTime call from the group that she immediately accepted. She sighed in relief as she saw all of her best friends were on the call, so she didn't have to harass the ones that didn't show up.
"WHAT'S THE EMERGENCY?!" Pinkie Pie yelled through her . . . phone . . ? Didn't she soak it in water the other day?
"Hello girls. Sorry I wasn't here last time. Angel Bunny got sick and started throwing a tantrum," her friend Fluttershy said in her usual soft tone. Fluttershy was always very reserved, even with her closest friends, but she knew how to assert her dominance when the time was right.
"Lemme guess, Twilight. You were studyin'?" Applejack asked, thought it sounded like she knew the answer.
"No! I have more things to do apart from keep my nose in a book all day," Twilight replies back. She was a major bookworm and an egghead, as Dash would say. Applejack rolled her eyes at her response.
"Really? Then what were you doing?"
"Okay, fine! But in my defense, online school starts soon!" Twilight pouted and crossed her arms like a child angry at their parent for not letting them do what they want.
"Alright, enough chatter. What did you want to see us about, Rainbow?" Rarity stopped their conversation from going on any longer. Everyone's attention diverted to Dash, who was messing with her wristbands again.
"It's about Soarin," she croaked. Her eyes slammed shut as she heard the gasps from her friends. "I think he . . . likes me."
"Really, what tipped ya' off?" Applejack responded with a chuckle and an eye roll. This wasn't news to any of them. They didn't tell her that they already knew about his feelings for her.
"It's only been two days since I found out I would be stuck with him, but things have been moving so quickly that I can barely keep up." Dash felt her heart pound against her chest, and she clutched it as if she was feeling some kind of pain.
"Details!" Pinkie did multiple flips around her room before sitting back down in front of the camera. "You're being very vague."
"Sorry," Dash apologized. "On the first day, he pinned me down to the couch and flirted with me as if he was going to start something with me." Her friends' eyes went wide, but they stayed silent and let her continue. "On the second day, he caught me saying his name in my sleep, but that's not all. He apologized for the day before and offered to watch a movie with me. I accepted and halfway through it, I pretended to fall asleep on him to see what he would do. Nothing could have prepared me for what he did next."
"What did he do? What did he DO!?" Rarity was practically bouncing up and down as she pestered Dash for more information. Rainbow shakily inhaled before finishing the second part of her story.
"He . . . kissed my forehead and carried me up to my room. Then he lay me in my bed and kissed me again after calling me a "cutie". Bleh." She gagged at the last part and moved on with the last part. "And finally, this morning. He made breakfast for the two of us, and he caught me staring at him while I was pouring syrup on my waffles. Since I was paying attention to his face and not the waffles themself, I ended up making a sticky mess on my plate. I wasn't going to let it go to waste, so I ate the entire plate, but not without getting its stickiness on my face every once in a while. So, he wiped it off for me."
Rainbow Dash sighed as she felt her face turn into a blushing mess. Once she saw the look on her friends' faces, she knew they were all going to explode.
"I knew you two would be perfect!" Rarity squealed. Dash shook her head in disbelief. Rarity couldn't help but scream as she rolled off her bed like a maniac.
"Judging by your story Dash, it seems like you like him too." Twilight adjusted her glasses and fixed her eyes on her screen.
"N-No. I don't have any feelings towards him." She twirled her finger in the few strands of hair that rested over her ear.
"You're a fucking liar," Applejack spat. "Do you like Soarin?"
Rainbow was about to fire back and deny her feelings, but she kept her mouth shut. Does she like him? She buried her face in her hands and groaned loudly. She knew that by now, her friends would already know the answer to the question. She couldn't answer yes or no without them squealing either way.
"I can't like Soarin. I've known him for my entire life, and I don't want to ruin whatever we have because of feelings ." She groaned for the hundredth time today from how sappy she sounded.
"You can't hide them forever, Dashie." Pinkie bounced her eyebrows and stroked her pillow. Okay, now she's just being weird.
"I gotta go." Dash left the FaceTime call before any of them could stop her.
Momentarily, she heard a knock on her door that caused her to jump. She said a quick prayer hoping Soarin was not listening to the entire conversation. "Come in," she said almost inaudibly, but Soarin heard her anyway. He slowly opens the door and smiles upon seeing her. Dash couldn't face him, especially for what she had said in the morning. She caused a big problem out of literally nothing.
Soarin leaves the door cracked and makes his way to her bed. He sits on the edge to her left and crosses his arms. Neither of them said anything for a while until Dash spoke up.
"Soarin, I need to tell you something." She prepared herself for the next sentence, but he placed a finger over her lips and shushed her.
"No me first." He fixed his posture as a mischievous smirk crept onto his face. "It was a prank," he said. Dash didn't know how to reply or what he was even referring to, so she gave him a confused look. "Me being nice to you was just a prank."
Her eyes bulged out of her head as she choked in her own saliva. Her bottom lip quivered, but not for any specific reason. He left her speechless. The entire time, Soarin's kind gestures were just to see how she would respond. For some odd reason, she wasn't very surprised. He turned into a completely different person after he teased her. Soarin's not the type of person whose personality could do a whole 180 in under two days.
For half a second, she looked at his face to see if he was lying or not. She wasn't as good as Applejack when it came to sniffing out a liar, but she could tell something was off about Soarin. He was sending her mixed signals.
"Right," is all that came out of her mouth. "You can leave now." Soarin didn't budge, so she grabbed a meter stick from under her bed and started whacking him with it. "Out, out, out!" She didn't stop until his entire body was at least a foot away from her door frame.
"Ouch, Dash! That hurts!" He whined.
"Too bad!" She slammed the door right on his nose.
Her breath hitched as she turned around and slid downwards against the door. She pulled her knees up against her chest and released a hiccup. Fuck, not now, not ever. She sniffed a couple times before burying her head in between her knees. She'd never let him see her like this, ever.
What did she expect from Soarin Skies, honestly?
Day 4: Week 1 || Teasing and Sports
"1, 2, 3, 4 . . ."
Counting sheep may seem like a ridiculous way to try and fall asleep, but it was the last method Dash could use to make herself sleepy. She tried drinking milk, changing her sleeping position, and even listening to calming music. None of them worked in the slightest. Poor girl didn't realize she actually needed to clear her head from a certain person . . . again.
"5, 6, 7, 8 . . ."
Rainbow Dash locked herself in her bedroom throughout the whole day. She genuinely cried for the first time in two years after a Soarin had told her about his hurtful prank. She cursed at herself for almost telling him how she felt for him. Imagine if he had let her speak first. That would've been a disaster.
"9, 10, 11, 12 . . ."
You'd have to be a huge asshole to play with her emotions like that. At school, no one bothered to make a move on Dash, no matter how attractive or compatible to her they were. A couple months ago, a very overconfident boy came up to her and asked for her phone number, and she may or may not have put them in the hospital. She was suspended for five days for it. It makes her wonder how she had so many guy friends in the first place. At least most boys knew better, but Soarin didn't seem to care much about anyone's feelings, especially hers.
Just when she thought she couldn't hate him any more, he pulls a prank on her. She was actually really glad that their hate for each other was slowly disappearing, but of course, that was not the case.
"I'm not making it past 13."
The counting wasn't working at all, so she gave up and stared at the ceiling for the rest of the night. Seriously, she just couldn't sleep.
════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*════
The next morning, Soarin hopped out of bed and went to go see what Dash was making for breakfast. He was confused when he didn't smell anything from the kitchen. When he found the kitchen empty, he ran back up the stairs and to Dash's bedroom. He had totally forgotten about his prank and disregarded her feelings towards it. She seemed fine yesterday, so going in her room shouldn't be too much of a problem.
He knocks on the door five times and waits for her to answer, but he doesn't hear any sound come from inside. Looks like he was just going to have to invite himself in! He opened the door and saw her laying on her back with multiple tissues around her bed. Did she catch a cold or something?
"I didn't say come in," she deadpanned.
"Why aren't you making breakfast?" He asks as he approaches her bed. She grumbled and shoved a pillow over her face. "You're going to suffocate like that."
"I'm not your maid, get out of my room." Her voice was muffled underneath the pillow, but anyone could tell she was not in the mood. Unfortunately, Soarin didn't seem to notice her odd behavior. When she didn't hear Soarin's feet shuffle even in the slightest, she grabbed the same meter stick she used to whack him with yesterday. "You have one second to leave!"
Soarin saw her approaching him with the stick and slowly backed away. He saw a baseball bat perched on the wall just beside the door, and he immediately grabbed it to use for defense. He'd forgotten about how painful and dangerous it would be if he actually hit her with it.
"Back up, or I will swing this bat against your head," he threatened. The bat rested against his shoulders as his hands gripped the handle tightly. Dash's pupils shrunk as she saw him approaching. He wasn't actually going to hit her, was he?
"Just get out!" She screamed. He backed her up into a wall, and there was no way of escaping for her. The meter stick was still in her hand, but she was too afraid of getting hit with something worse. She tried to make a run for it around him, but Soarin caught her by the arm before she could even get two inches away from him. "Stop it, please!"
A sniff was heard from her, and he didn't think twice to release her. He had no intention of actually hurting her, but of course, Dash didn't take it that way.
"Dude, are you crying?" He laughed at her, but once she turned around faced him, he shut his mouth almost immediately. Her eyes were filled with tears, and they blurred her vision to the point where she could barely see him. The hand holding the baseball bat loosened up and dropped it. Gosh, he didn’t mean to scare her that much.
"Fuck you Soarin," she spat, the meter stick still in her hand. She saw that he wasn't holding the bat anymore and kicked him right in his groin. His hands flew to it as he fell down on his knees. He squeaked from not being able to shout from the pain overtaking him. "That'll teach you to mess with Rainbow Dash."
"Y-You . . . you were crying," he barely managed to croak out. Dash pushed the meter stick against his chest and pushed him back so he'd fall on his back. A smug look appeared on her face from the feeling of triumph. An idea popped into her head, and she suppressed a snigger. She prepared herself for what she was about to do, for it would probably backfire if done too well.
As he pushed himself up from the ground, Dash knocked him back again and sat on his stomach with her legs on either side of his body. The look on his face afterwards made him look like he had seen a ghost with ten heads, but that didn't stop her. He didn't quit when she made that same face, now did he?
She slowly lowered her body so she was laying right on top of him. Her legs were repositioned so they didn't feel too uncomfortable to her. On any other occasion, Soarin would have fought back against her, but she's never done this to him before. He had no idea how to respond to her actions.
Seeing that he was in shock, Dash leaned in and nibbled on his ear just before faking a moan. He's never going to recover from this , she thought happily. This was simply payback for all the times he embarrassed her with this tactic. Revenge has never tasted so sweet to her, or maybe she was just tasting his ear.
"R-Rainb-bow Dash?" He stuttered. He was so flustered by the way she was teasing him. This was just pure evil! The most he's ever done to her was sit on top of her. If she doesn't stop soon, she might accidentally turn him on. He watched as she bit her bottom lip and rubbed her lower body up against him. She was getting way too sexual with this. He couldn't take it anymore.
Just when he was about to strike back, Dash moved off of him with a seductive look in her eyes. He sighed in relief when he felt the weight of her small figure lift off of his stomach. That was not a thrilling experience at all.
"Now, what have we learned?" She asked with one eyebrow raised. The meter stick found its way back into her hands.
"I swear, I will never tease you again." Soarin's cheeks were burning, and he couldn't make the heat die down. Dash slowly nodded as Soarin covered his face with his hands. To get the thought of the recent event out of his head, he came up with a question in the heat of the moment: "Do you want to play one on one?"
"We haven't eaten breakfast yet. Plus, you suck at every sport you play. At least . . . when you're playing against me." She flipped her hair, still messy from the bed head she received.
"Okay, we can play in an hour." Soarin rolled his eyes, then clutched his stomach as he felt it growl. Dash suppressed a giggle as Soarin's attention diverted to his hunger. "I really need to eat."
"I can make breakfast. Just give me twenty mi- WOAH!" Dash was cut off by a hand grabbing her arm. Why does he always do that? She growled internally.
"So . . ." Soarin paused as he saw the angry pout she was giving him. "Were you crying to make me feel sorry for you, or were you actually scared?" Dash half laughed at his question. She was really that smart, huh?
"I, Rainbow Danger Dash, am not afraid of anything. You simply fell for my well planned prank." She puffed her chest out as she propped her own ego up. Soarin was not amused by it at all. He genuinely thought he scared her. Now this is why you can't always trust Rainbow Dash. "Let's go eat some cereal before we play one on one, m'kay?" She pats him on the back twice before dragging him out the door.
════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*════
After a bowl of tasty cereal and arguing about when the milk should be poured, Rainbow and Soarin went their separate ways and got dressed for the game they were about to play. They haven't exactly decided on which sport they were going to play, but Dash assumed she'd beat Soarin in it anyway.
Dash was the captain on nearly all the sports at her school, so she just assumed she was better. Unfortunately for her, Soarin was the assistant coach of about half of those sports. It was a living nightmare for her because he never shut up about how he would eventually take over as captain. She didn't let it faze her though because she knew she was the best.
After putting on some booty shorts and a tank top, she ran down the stairs and saw Soarin standing by the glass screen door that led to the backyard. He was wearing something similar, except his shorts went just past his knees. He smiled upon seeing her, but instead of receiving a welcoming feel from it, Dash felt very suspicious of it. Yesterday, he had told her his kindness was just a prank, and all of a sudden, he was being kind again. Don't pranks end after the prankster reveals it was just for laughs? She didn't know what to think.
"You ready?" He asked, the smile never leaving her face. Dash shifted uncomfortably and flashed a fake smile.
"What are we playing?" She responded with another question.
"Socc-"
"No, that's an easy dub. I'm not playing soccer with you." She rolled her eyes and sighed as she leaned against the wall behind her.
"Fine. We're playing basketball whether you like it or not." Soarin grabs a basketball from the supply closet a couple feet away from the door. It had all kinds of supplies, including balls, rackets, other sports equipment, Dash's sport shoes, and bug spray . . . for some reason.
Dash saw some of her shoes in the closet and grabbed the red pair she would usually wear to play basketball. She doesn't know how she got in the team at school considering she was ridiculously short, standing at just five feet and two inches. Maybe she was just that good. She did carry the team after all. Her height never stopped her from getting what she wanted.
"Okay, I'm ready. I feel like I shoulda put on my compression shorts underneath this though." The shorts Dash had put on were shorter than the ones she would usually wear inside the house. If she was a little flatter, she wouldn't mind as much. "Seriously, I feel like I'm wearing my underwear."
"Then hurry up and change the shorts!" Soarin facepalmed and groaned.
"Now I'm going to take my time," she huffed and walked up the stairs at a slow, but steady pace.
Two minutes later, she came down with a pair of shorts that were a few inches above her knees with a pair of compression shorts underneath.
"Okay, let's play ball."
The two walked side by side out the door and stopped in front of the tall basketball hoop.
"First to 21?" Soarin dribbled the ball a couple times before spinning it on his index finger. Dash scoffed as he showed off.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever."
════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*════
Dash dribbled the ball around Soarin and attempted to make a layup to tie the game, but she underestimated the height of the hoop and it air balled instead. The score was 19-20 with Dash having the losing score. It would've been smarter if she hit a green from the three point line to end the game altogether, but her brain wasn't thinking straight. Soarin rebounded the ball and shot it into the hoop and claimed his victory.
"Dude! You have to take it back!" She shouted angrily. He had cheated and he wasn't supposed to score immediately after she scores, hence the "take it back" rule. If your opponent shoots the ball and misses, but you manage to rebound it, you have to take it back around the three point line and then make your shot.
"Your layup didn't hit the backboard or the rim. You air balled," he said in a calmer tone, but Dash was still angry.
"You cheated! You were supposed to-"
"Stop being a sore loser. I won." Soarin bounces the ball on the ground with a great amount of force, causing it to skyrocket upwards. He went to make himself some ice cream to reward himself. Since Dash was still brooding over her loss, she didn't notice the ball flying towards her face on its way down. The ball was inches away from her face and she tried to dodge it, but it was too late.
She was hit square in the face with a ball just slightly larger than her head. The impact knocked her backwards and she fell on the ground head first. Luckily, her ponytail cushioned her head, but not enough to ease the pain.
Soarin didn't notice her fall until he heard a high pitched scream come from her. When he saw her on the ground clutching her head in pain, he instantly knew what the problem was.
"Dash!" He kneeled beside her on the ground and he watched as she was breathing uncontrollably. She was in shock and she didn't know how to react. "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry!" He carried her inside and laid her on the couch in the living room before running in the kitchen to get a frozen bag of peas.
"S-Soarin, it's okay. I s-should've been paying attention instead of being a sore loser," she shivered as she felt the icy substance make contact with her forehead. She held back the water building up in her eyes from not wanting to show any more weakness than she already was.
"No, this is my fault, okay?" Soarin took the blame as he grabbed a laptop and looked for what to do in situations like this. He was really upset with himself for being so careless, and it surprised him that Dash hadn't beat him up for hurting her. "Do you feel like passing out? Is there a bump on your head? On a scale of one to ten, how much does it hurt?" He launched questions at her that she couldn't exactly process all at once.
"Er . . . maybe, no, and about an 8.5," she replied slowly while trying to remember each question he has asked. Her vision was wonky and her reactions were always half a second late. "I'm gonna go to my room." She got up on both feet and the peas had fallen to the ground after she stood. She only managed to walk a few feet before feeling lightheaded.
"Let me take you," he picked her up and took her up the stairs to her room with the peas in his hand. Though she tried to fight back and walk herself, she was aware that she couldn't stand upright without falling over. He opened the door to her room and slid her under the covers the same way he did a few days ago right after taking off her shoes.
"Why . . . are you being so . . . nice to me?" Dash questioned him, taking breaths in between.
"I almost put you in the hospital," he replied sadly. He wiped his forehead with the back of his hand and noticed the sweat falling from it.
"Yeah but, I'm having a hard time . . . believing you after . . . your stupid prank. I'm almost sure you did this on purpose."
"I would never hurt you on purpose! I-" he interrupted himself when he heard her release a groan from the sudden change in volume. He sighed and took the frozen peas and placed it back on her head. "You need to rest. I'll come and check on you in an hour." He turned towards the door and walked out before Dash could stop him.
"N-No, don't leave . . ."

If (for some odd reason) you are not comfortable with the topic of periods, then this chapter isn't for you.
Day 5
Day 5: Week 1 || That Time of the Month
Yesterday was a day to remember, though Rainbow Dash couldn't recall much of what happened after Soarin had left her room. Her head was doing much better now, and it had stopped throbbing from getting hit with a ball. She still had a little trouble staying balanced, and it only got worse when she stood up too fast. At least the pain in her head had stopped. Nothing was worse than the pain she was experiencing now.
"Grrrr," Dash growled in pain while clutching her lower abdomen. She woke up this morning a mess and she ran to the bathroom to get herself cleaned off. She had anticipated this would happen, but the event that occurred yesterday made her completely disregard the possibility of it coming today.
Yes. It's that time of the month.
After changing into a new set of bottoms, Dash flopped onto her bed and continued whining about the pain. She needed to take some pain reliever medicine, but that was downstairs, and she couldn't afford to feel any more pain than she already was. She grabbed her phone and sent a quick message to Soarin, hoping he would respond. The brightness of her cell phone blinded her eyes, and brought the pain to her head back.
Rainbow: PLEASE BRING ACETAMINOPHEN
It was super early in the morning, and Dash was not going back to sleep anytime soon. If Soarin didn't answer soon, she'd have to get the medicine herself. The fact that she thought he would actually come is beyond her ability of thinking right now. She needed a pain reliever as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Soarin was lying in his bed chatting with his friends when he saw a message from Rainbow pop onto his phone. She almost never texts him, especially at this time. He heard a scream from her room and instantly jumped out of bed and followed the noise. It was as if he acted on instinct due to how quick he abandoned his friends to go to her.
He swung the door of her room open and saw her writhing in her bed with her arms hugging her stomach. Had she eaten something bad last night? Maybe the soup he fed her yesterday did more harm than good. After all, she did say it tasted bad. Hopefully it didn't expire because he had forgotten to check.
"Dash! What's going on?" He ran to her side as she rocked herself from side to side. "Does your head still hurt?"
"My head's not important right now. Did you bring it?" Dash looked up at him with hope in her eyes, but Soarin honestly had no idea what she was talking about. Wow, she was referring to the message he didn't even read.
"I . . . no," he slowly admitted just before Dash let out another cry. He put two and two together and realized what was really going on.
"Please just . . . get the acetaminophen," she croaked. Soarin rushed out of the room to get it before she could even say the full name of the medicine. She smiled at how caring he was, but it immediately faded after remembering what she had asked him yesterday.
"Why . . . are you being so . . . nice to me?"
She understands that he had unintentionally hurt her yesterday, so he felt obligated to nurse her back to health. But today, he helped her without complaining or questioning. It's not that she didn't want him to be nice to her. She's just scared that he might just be pranking her again. Her trust in him faded after that. He said he'd never hurt her on purpose, but he meant physically. Not emotionally.
Soarin came back with a glass of water and a pill tube. He placed them on the nightstand beside her bed and sat beside Dash. He hooked his arms around her small figure and slowly helped her sit up. When she groaned, a wave of sympathy washed over him. So this is what girls have to go through every month? He pondered over the thought. He wouldn't be able to do it even if he tried.
He felt Dash snuggle into him as her legs twitched from the pain she felt. She was using him for comfort, and his presence made her feel better. He grabbed the pill tube and poured two of them into the cap. Dash opened her mouth and waited for him to get the water so she could swallow the pills.
"Open wide. I don't want to choke you," he spoke softly, and it sent chills down her spine. Out of context, that sounds really bad. He popped two pills in her mouth just before tipping the cup over her mouth to help her swallow. She finished the entire glass in just two gulps.
"T-Thank y-EEOOOOW," she suddenly yelled. Dash slowly exhaled after the feeling of being stabbed in her lower abdomen. She's never actually been stabbed before, and she doesn't plan on it anytime soon, but what she felt was probably the most pain she's had through a period cramp.
Soarin's eyes widened with worry when he heard her yell like that. Not once in his life has he seen her is so much pain because of a cramp. In fact, he had forgotten she even went through this every month due to how quiet she was about it.
"I'm gonna make you some cereal and bring it up to you. Sounds good?" He said while looking down at her. Dash shook her head at his statement.
"No, I'll get it myself . . . grr." The pain was bothering her so much that she could barely get a full sentence out without yelling or growling. She was trying so hard to fight it, but she couldn't.
"Has it ever hurt this much?" He asked.
"No." She simply replied. As she stood up from her bed and made her way to the door, she felt all the pain rush downwards and cause her to fall over. "This really sucks." Soarin ran to her side in an effort to help her up, but she declined. No, she wouldn't show weakness! At least . . . she wouldn't show any more weakness.
"Dash, you can barely walk two steps without falling over. Let me help you," he insisted but she pushed him away. Though it was part of the reason, Dash wasn't just declining his help because she wanted to show she was strong. She was also doing to see if he would be persistent. In all honesty, her trust in him was at an all time low. Yes, she was still salty about the prank, and she couldn't let him catch her off guard again.
"Don't touch me." She moved herself away from him and stood to her feet all in just a few seconds. She brushed her knees off due to some dust getting on them. "See. I can walk just fine."
"You don't want me to touch you, but you were just cuddling me," Soarin says with confusion. Blood rushed to her cheeks and she turned her face away from him so he wouldn't see.
"I-I was moving towards the medicine. Plus, if I didn't, you would've made me swallow those pills myself." She half lied. Indeed, he would not have put the pills in her mouth if she didn't.
"So you wanted me to basically feed you pills? Should I feed you your cereal too?"
"I am perfectly capable of feeding myself! The water and pills just were too far for me to reach." Dash limped towards the stairs and slipped on the first step, causing her to slide halfway down. The fall wasn't too kind to her stomach. It only increased her pain by more. "FUUUUUCK!" She yelled at the top of her lungs.
Soarin facepalmed at her outburst. She should've let him help her. The stairs were wooden, so imagine how much it would hurt to slide on your ass.
He picked her up and carried her to the living room. Dash didn't bother trying to jump out of his arms because she could barely walk without assistance.
Soarin set her down on the long couch where she could spread her body out as much as she wanted to, but Dash didn't even use half the space. Her body was curled up in the fetal position as she whimpered in pain.
"It hurts so bad . . ." Her voice was barely above a whisper. Her eyes were shut tightly to keep any water from spilling out of them. Why was it hurting so much anyway? This has never happened to her before, and it's even worse knowing that her parents weren't here to figure out what's wrong. Soarin may be helpful, but he just couldn't make up for both of her parents'.
Dash opened her eyes for a fraction of a second and saw Soarin with a bowl of Froot Loops. It was her favorite cereal, and not because they were rainbow colored. They just tasted good. Unfortunately, Dash's appetite dissipated once she saw the cereal.
Soarin brought a spoonful up to her mouth, but she turned her head away from it.
"But this is your favorite cereal!" Soarin said with a hint of frustration. When she groaned again, he realized she wasn't rejecting it because she didn't want it. "Dash, as much as you don't want to eat, you have to." He stroked the spoon on her bottom lip, slightly opening her mouth. Dash reluctantly allowed the spoon of cereal in her mouth. "Chew and swallow."
She gagged as she felt the cold milk and circular pieces of cereal in her mouth. One, she had forgotten to brush her teeth, so she still had the foul taste of bacteria in her mouth. Two, she just couldn't bring herself to eat anything at the moment.
Once she swallowed, she felt her stomach churn.
"S-S-Soarin," she whispered as she shook lightly. "Plastic bag, please." Soarin's eyes widened and he ran in the kitchen pantry to get one. By the time he was back, it was too late. She had puked all over the living room carpet in front of her. "I'm sorry." She apologized.
"It's okay. I'll clean it." He handed her the plastic bag and she let out the rest of what was still inside of her into the bag. Soarin cringed as he saw it all come out of her. He honestly shouldn't be looking at it. "On a scale of one to ten, how much does it-"
"TEN!" She screamed before he could even finish.
"That bad, huh?" He sympathized. "I'm going to clean up your mess. Scream if you need me, okay?" He ruffled her hair before walking off to get something to clean the carpet with.
Dash didn't even hear a word he said due to how much she was moaning and groaning. When she felt his hand touch her hair, the pain went away from a split second before returning again. Ever after it returned, the rest of her body was calmed down enough for her to fall back asleep.

Rainbow woke up from the feeling of someone forcefully shaking her. Her eyes fluttered open and she met face to face with Soarin. Him being right in front of her made her jump a little.
"Why?" She asked.
"You were moaning in your sleep," he responded. Soarin saw her about to panic but he instantly calmed her down. "I mean moaning in pain! Don't worry." Dash released a load of air she had been holding in. What a relief.
"Hmm." She curled back up into a ball when she felt the pain return to her. She had really hoped that medicine and a good nap would have eased it, but it didn't seem to do anything at all.
"How long does this usually go on for?" He sits beside her head on the couch and waits for an answer. He plays with her hair while she's distracted.
"The pain or the bleeding?"
"Let's just say both."
"Well," Dash brings her knees up closer to her chest. "I usually bleed for about six to seven days and have cramps for the first three." Soarin chuckled lightly as he felt her lean up against him. His smile faded as quickly as it appeared on his face. She was getting too comfortable with him.
"Do you want me to bring you back to your room?" He tries changing the subject. It was a rather stupid question because he knows that moving her will make the pain worsen.
Dash shook her head and closed her eyes again. She couldn't sleep very well, so she just rested her eyes. While she rested, she noticed Soarin's hand stroking her hair lightly. It sent shivers down her spine and it drew her attention away from the pain. The stroking suddenly stopped, and she brought his hand back down to continue.
"I know this sounds weird, but please don't stop," she begged.
"W-Why?" He asked hesitantly. The fact that she wants him to stroke her hair didn't sit right with him.
"It helps me forget about the pain. That's all." This was the second time she lied about why she sought his help today. She was too afraid to tell him the real reason.
Just when she thought it was over, Dash felt her mouth water and something rush up her throat. She grabbed the plastic bag from before and puked her guts into it.
"You haven't eaten since yesterday. What could you possibly be eliminating?" He pulled his phone out from his pocket and looked up the answer for himself. His hand patted her back to help her get it all out. His eyes glanced into the bag and he saw a greenish-yellow liquid inside. It made him want to throw up himself. "That's gross."
"Shut up before I beat your ass!" She yelled, her face still in the bag. Soarin smirked at her brashness, despite being in the most pain she's probably ever been.
"Do you seriously want to do this right now?"
"No. Not really. Ughhh."
"Just sleep, okay? You'll probably wake up weighing less than you did yesterday, though." Soarin informs her. He had searched it up while she had taken a nap earlier. "How much do you weigh again? Like 120 pounds?"
"I'm sixteen pounds less than that," she deadpanned. A yawn escaped her mouth and she tied the bag of bile shut so no liquid would escape. She lay her head on his lap and drifted off to sleep almost immediately.
Soarin felt like carrying her up to her room so she'd be more comfortable, but he didn't want to wake her. She hated being woken up from a slumber.
He made himself comfortable by tilting his head back so it'd make contact with the back of the couch. It didn't take long for him to join Dash in the dream world. Today was an awfully stressful day.
