Twilight Sparkle is completing her Princess training under Celestia and Luna, and prepares for the Summer Sun Celebration to welcome the Ambassadors of Sol III and Sangheilios, Sub-Committee Chairman Hargrove and Lavernius T'Lakka Tucker Junior respectively. She grows anxious in forming bonds of genuine solidarity between Ponies, Humans, Sangheili, and all those that they entail, while also wondering about the Reds and Blues after their disappearance.

But then, both day and night are caught off balance and put together at once, with the Princesses of Equestria vanishing without a trace. Twilight seeks the help of her friends once again to determine the source of this sudden crisis, while also striving to be the best leader for Equestria that she can. But there are other matters Twilight has yet to learn.

Retreating from the Everfree and its plundervines, Zecora was escorted by other ponies, led by a strange stallion the mares and Spike find both familiar and alien. While learning about what they are up to, and who he is, Twilight wonders if she will be able to handle whatever dangers that already threaten her homeworld. And whom to trust.
