“Don’t you think you’re over-reacting Rarity? I’m sure if Spike and I looked around there’d be somepony here that could help you out with your problem.”
Rarity huffed, her beautiful purple locks already frazzled enough from all her frenetic worrying “You finding moi a suitable colt to model for me in Ponyville? Not likely Twilight Sparkle. I’ve been considering all the possibilities and absolutely none of them are suitable, at all.”
Twilight frowned, listing the few boy ponies she knew around town in her head “Big Macintosh?” she offered enthusiastically.
“Too big, too bulky,” replied Rarity dejectedly.
“Mr. Cake?”
Rarity snorted “Too gangly,”
Twilight put a hoof to her chin “Mr. Breezy?”
“Too stocky,”
“Caramel?”
“Doesn’t live around here darling,” she said testily, her patience wearing thin at this pointless guessing game.
“Well how about-”
“How about you please help me with this mannequin I dragged all the way over here to your library and just cast the spell so I can get some work done before dusk?”
Twilight sighed, flipping through the pages of her spell book. She wasn’t especially skilled at transformation magic but it’s not like it was something she avoided because she was nervous. She honestly never had a (willing) test subject to try it on before, besides herself of course, but risking a permanent change of gender at her own doing was a risk she didn’t want to take. It pained her because she loved experimenting otherwise too. Raritys’ suggestion to swap this ‘female’ mannequin to become a male figure seemed like a perfectly safe way to try it out. If it worked, Rarity was happy, if not then she could brush it off as one of those ‘living creatures only’ kind of spell.
There was a loud bang, the door to the library slammed open “HIYA GIRLS!” bubbled an overtly animated voice.
The two unicorns let out a simultaneous groan. Pinkie Pie had been talking non-stop all week about her special new recipe for butterscotch cookies, but each time she made a batch she would offer a fresh plate and immediately take the treats away from them. They had to be Pinkie Pie perfect, and if they weren’t they hit the garbage can. Now there was another batch of cookies hanging from a basket around her neck as she bounced through the door.
“You girls have gotta try my latest bunch of super scumptilicious butterscotch cookies! It’s the absolute BEST I Pinkie Pie swear it!” she assured shoving a cookie at each of her two friends. Rarity magically grabbed it, hovering it closer to her mouth and eyeing Pinkie warily, as if the bakers apprentice was going to swat it away at any moment. Cautiously she took a tentative bite of the small yellow cookie.
“Thish is delicious Pinkie Pie!” complimented Rarity, speaking through the chewy treat. Swallowing, she asked “How many batches did you bake before ending up with this bunch?”
“A dozen and a half!” she said instantly, expecting the question. “I can’t tell you how many of those cookies I had to throw away before they had JUST the right flavor. Of course Gummy kept sneaking into the garbage can to take a bite. He had so much that he got himself a GUMMY-ACHE!”
Laughing herself into a fit Pinkie bounced around the room, snorting at her good joke. Twilight rolled her eyes, wondering to herself how she was going to concentrate now with Pinkie in her library. She finished her own cookie, and turned to her bouncing pink friend.
“We are both really glad that you did a great job baking these cookies, but if you don’t mind I need you to step aside for a moment. I’ve got an important spell to cast and it requires a direct line of sight to work out correctly. So move away please!” requested Twilight civilly as Pinkie bounced to the right of the mannequin.
Rarity sidled up next to Twilight as the lavender unicorn scanned the spell instructions a few more times, rapidly piecing together how much focus and energy she would have to put into the spell. Too much and she would over-exert herself resulting and being tired for the rest of the day, too little, and the spell would fail.
Twilight chewed her lip, running the spell directions over in her head one last time. Lowering her head, she paid careful attention to her horn, positive that it was pointing straight at the dummy. With a deep breath she shut her eyes, casting the spell.
A bright orange bolt of light erupted from her horn, zigzagging across the room and immediately filling the air with the scent of burning ozone. This spell was stronger than she’d initially expected, and she shut her eyes, cringing at the powerful energies flowing from her horn. She heard a zapping sound, a yelp from Rarity next to her and Twilight opened her eyes back up, spell complete.
The first thing she felt was a twinge of disappointment, the spell hadn’t worked. The mannequin before her was still a curvy figure of femininity. Her ears flattened against her head.
“Sorry Rarity, I guess the spell doesn’t work like I expected,” she mumbled dejectedly under her breath.
Rarity grabbed her, turning Twilights attention away from the intended target of the spell “Twilight,” she hissed, her voice low, “Look at what you’ve done to her!”
Pinkie Pie stood dumbly before them, her blue eyes rolling in her head. Twilight didn’t immediately understand the problem that irked Rarity like this. All she saw was the same silly pink pony that had barged through her door a few minutes ago.
“Oooh…” suddenly she DID notice that Pinkie wasn’t all herself anymore. Now she noticed that Pinkie suddenly had a thicker neck, and stockier frame. Her mess of pink hair was now curlier, tail a bit shorter and she was taller looking overall. The shape of her face was changed too, now she had the squared off look of a colt.
“…shoot,” finished Twilight, glancing between the plaster dress dummy and the now masculine visage of Pinkie Pie. She connected the dots, realizing that instead of not working the spell had simply targeted the nearest living thing closest to the mannequin.
“Oh my GOSH what did you do?!” cried Pinkie Pie, who immediately gasped at the slightly deeper, yet still familiar tone of voice she now possessed. “I sound like a boy now! Twilight you turned me into a boy!”
Twilight groaned, putting a hoof to her forehead “Now I have to go find a counter spell. I’m sorry Pinkie Pie I didn’t plan-”
“I have a penis!” shouted Pinkie sticking his head between his forelegs, looking directly at the new set of parts provided with the spell.
Rarity burst out laughing, causing Twilight to give her a sharp look. Rarity slowly halted her chuckling.
“You simply must acknowledge the good humor in the situation Twilight. Well maybe it’s not that good for Pinkie Pie but come on dear, that was funny,” snickered Rarity watching Pinkie reaching at her privates and falling forwards on her face.
Sighing, Twilight magically tugged a dark orange book from the top row of the bookshelf behind her, “I screwed up a spell and majorly changed Pinkie Pie into…a colt! This kind of spell is…it’s, huh, that’s good news.”

Pinkie Pie gasped “So you mean I’ll be a Pinkie guy for only a little while! That’s terrrrrrific!”
Rarity usually let nothing that Pinkie said get her bothered, yet at that comment she was dumbfounded “Darling don’t tell me that you’re…not upset at being a boy?”
“No way ho-say!” replied Pinkie brightly. “Now I can go out and try all these boy things I’ve always wanted to try but wasn’t sure about before. It’s already seven o’ clock but I’m sure I’ve got plenty of time to get moving!” he giggled “moving, mooooving. Gosh my voice is so funny now!”
Twilight and Rarity shared a confused glance, before asking “What do you mean boy things?”
Pinkie laughed, rolling his eyes “You knoooooow, boy stuff! Like having one too many beers and smoking big stinky cigars and getting into fights with other ponies-”
“Pinkie,” said Rarity trying to cut him short.
“-and forgetting to wash behind my ears and reading the boring bits in newspapers and playing football and-”
“Well okay then!” interrupted Twilight a little louder than her fellow unicorn. “I’m sure you have lots of stuff to do and it sounds perfectly okay that you’re okay being a boy the rest of the day. So go on ahead for a good evening Pinkie! Just, don’t do anything too…erratic.”
Snorting, Pinkie Pie bounded out of the room “You’re so silly Twilight, I wouldn’t know the first thing about being erotic.”
Rarity laughed again at the pink blush at Twilights cheeks “Now now, that didn’t turn out so bad did it darling?”
“I suppose not but, hey wait a minute!” she turned to the alabaster white unicorn. “How come you didn’t ask Pinkie Pie to help with your fittings? I just made her into a colt!”
Cocking an eyebrow Rarity replied “Do you honestly expect me to get Pinkie Pie of all ponys to hold completely still while I stitch together twenty seven suits for the rest of the day?”
Well…no, I guess not,” Twilight admitted finally allowing herself a little laugh at the absurdity of the whole event “sooo what now then?”
“Now?” suddenly getting back to reality, Rarity sighed, “I suppose at the moment I’ll go on to figure it out myself. Thank you for all your help Twilight. It’s been a very entertaining evening.”
Twilights face fell, a little upset she couldn’t assist Rarity daintily trotting out through the front door, her curly purple tail grabbing the knob and pulling it shut behind her. Deciding that she wasn’t satisfied with how things turned out, Twilight decided to nose through another section in Tricky Transformations. Hopefully there was a more detailed page on working with inanimate objects.

On the other side of town at Sweet Apple Acres work was wrapping up for the day, the last stubborn stump being forcefully hauled out of the ground by Big Macintosh. It took him the better part of three hours and he waved a foreleg at his sister who was a few hundred yards away by the barn doors, signaling his completion of the task. He thought she saw him but right now, Applejack was wholly distracted from the newly bare patch of field so readily cleaned by her brother. Rainbow Dash had stopped by seeking advice, and when she got said advice demanded something more as well.
“No way, no how. It’s your own darned fault for lettin’ this go ‘till it was too late. Besides, even if Macintosh over yonder did have the energy to help ya out he wouldn’t because he’s a gentlecolt, not some pony ya just go an’ have a quick fix with,” concluded Applejack stamping a hoof for emphasis.
Rainbow Dash groaned loudly, leaning against the wall of the barn “Why not? You just TOLD me that’s the only way to make…this stop. I need this to go away fast as possible it is driving me completely insane AJ.”
Applejack rolled her eyes “Don’t ya’ll know the signs of this sorta thing when it’s happenin’? I mean, it ain’t exactly subtle. Every filly learns about this in school too.”
Very lightly Dash banged her head against the red barn wall “I must have skipped that class a few times or something. Now please can ya help me out with your brother?”

Fuming, Dash turned tail and rocketed into the sky, leaving a multi-colored streak of rainbow behind as Big Macintosh cantered over to his sister.
“What’s that all about AJ?” he asked softly, chewing a sprig of wheat in his mouth.
Sighing, she turned to her brother, leaning closer to his ear “Rainbow Dash is ‘in season’ for the first time an’ she came to ask me for help on what to do about it.”
Macintosh tilted his head, looking at her quizzically, “So what’s that mean there? She wanted help with you?”
“With you big bro,” she answered with a slight chuckle. “She wanted MY permission to get a roll in the hay with ya to help her ‘beat the heat’ so to speak.”
He stepped backwards, looking flustered “Really? I dunno if I should be flattered or…shoot, I don’t quite know what to think. ‘Course I suspected as much, I did catch somethin’ funny on the breeze,” he looked skyward to where Dash had bolted off to. “Ya think she’ll be alright?”
Slapping a hoof on his work collar, Applejack laughed “I’m sure she’ll figure herself out. Like I said, the girls in heat an’ all worked up right now. Ya’ll remember how bad I was when I first got into heat right?”

A small cloud that had been drifting lazily through the sky burst apart as a speeding Pegasus barreled through it, blasting it into small pieces of fluff that scattered through the air. By Rainbow Dashs count it was the fourteenth cloud she’d barreled through as she ascended the sky, gaining speed as she tore past the stratosphere and into the mesosphere. It was pointless to try this again, last time it didn’t work so why would it calm her down now? Dash halted her climb, and spotting a stray cumulus cloud settled down on it, the small cloud beginning to descend rapidly from her weight.
“This sucks this sucks this sucks this sucks this royally sucks,” she ranted into the pillowy cloud, mind swarming as her nether regions still pulsed with that insistent demanding burning sensation.
Of course Applejack turned out to be no help at all, flat out denying the cure for her problem.
