A beautiful sight to behold, but an ever treacherous challenge to climb. The tallest and oldest mountain on the planet, the tall giant has stood the test of time. With little to no one ever being able to reach its summit. With its perilous winds and dangerous slopes, no one could ever achieve to climb it. Only one pony ever reached the top, and how they did it remains a mystery. No sane creature has ever since dared tried to climb it. “Gah!” Well, save for those with questionable sanity. Chrysalis groaned as she was flung back into the snow. She picked herself up to see her centaur companion reach out and touch the magical barrier in front of them. Tirek recoiled in pain as his hand burned against the magical barrier. Several large boulders with ancient ruins glowed as the barrier faded from visibility. “Can you absorb it, and make it go away?” Cozy Glow asked as she hovered next to him. “I can only absorb magic from living beings,” Tirek responded. Cozy paused for a moment before glancing back at Chrysalis. “Like her?” She said pointing to the changeling. “Betrayal!” Chrysalis accused as she got into a battle position. “Not betrayal, teamwork,” Cozy said, her companions tilted their heads at her statement. “If Tirek absorbs your energy, he might be strong enough to break through!” Cozy explained, Tirek smirked at the idea, staring at his muscles at the thought of becoming stronger. “And then?” Chrysalis questioned. “Then...he gives it back!” Cozy responded, snapping Tirek out of his moment. “I do?” Tirek said. “Mm-hmm” Cozy nodded. Tirek frowned as he lowered his arms in disappointment. “How do I know you won’t take my magic and leave me?” Chrysalis said glaring at the two. “Would we do that too you?” Cozy said in a cute voice. Chrysalis stuck out a hoof at them, emphasizing who they are and their history. Sheepishly Cozy responded, “Okay, normally we would.” This didn’t inspire confidence in the queen. Sighing Tirek spoke up, “I’ll give you your magic back.” Chrysalis looked between the two and the cave entrance, seeing no other option Chrysalis relented. “Do it.” The queen spoke as she braced herself for what she was agreeing too. Tirek stood tall and opened his mouth. Breathing in heavily he started to drain Chrysalis’s magic. Green energy shot out from her horn and into the centaur’s mouth. Cozy watched on in awe as the centaur began to grow larger, his muscles increasing in size, and his horns curving and growing larger. Chrysalis gasped as the last of her magic left her, collapsing in exhaustion. “So...much….POWER!” Tirek shouted, his voice booming across the mountain top. Giving his new larger muscles a kiss he turned to the cave entrance. “Welcome back baby!” He said before firing a beam of energy at the barrier. Unfortunately for the trio, the barrier held, with only a small hole. “It’s not big enough for me!” Tirek groaned as sweat started to roll down his face. The barrier was putting up more of a fight than the centaur thought. “Maybe not you!” Cozy said before flying through the hole. Turning back she shouted to the centaur, “Keep it open! Or I’ll be trapped forever!” Cozy said before flying into the cave. “Would that be so terrible?” Chrysalis bemused. Cozy flew through the dark cave, the further she went in the darker it became. “Ugh, I should’ve brought a light.” Cozy groaned. Continuing her search, after several minutes she saw a faint cyan glow coming from behind a corner. She turned a corner and gasped at what she saw. There in the center of the room, was the Bewitching Bell. It sat inside the mouth of a stone dragon’s head. The dragon didn’t look like any she had ever seen. This one had a long snout, rugged carved scales along its face, a crown formed out of its scales at its head, long sharp teeth, and rubies in place of the eyes. It appeared as if it was glaring at her, like a dog protecting its precious bone. Intimidated by the sculpture she dropped to the floor, her wings pinned to her sides. “Get a hold of yourself Cozy, it’s just a glorified rock it can’t hurt you.” She muttered to herself, giving herself a good smack on the cheek to shake her from her daze. She cautiously approached the statue, looking closely she didn’t see any traps. The bell glowed softly blue in the maw of the beast. Shakily she rose to her hind hooves and reached out to grab the bell. “Almost got it…” Cozy said as her hooves grazed the bell, suddenly her vision blurred and she was bombarded with strange images of fire and destruction, accompanied by strange sounds and voices. “You shall not prevail!” “What lies down there?” “There’s got to be millions worth of gold in here!” “No, wait! This is a-” “No amount of gold is worth this!” “Run? There’s no escaping that thing!” “What strange energy you have….” “That thing can’t be tamed!” “It’s immune to magic!?” “I WILL NOT FAIL! I SHALL PREVAIL!” “NU HIN REL DO MAAR OBLAAN HET!” “Foul thing! You haven’t had the last laAAAUUUGGGHHHH!” “I’m sorry you’ve become too dangerous. Forgive me. Hovvk mld, groo gsv dliow mvvwh blf!” “Gruth! Zu'u sav hi ungrateful kung! Dii nahkriin fent ag pah! ” “GAH!” Cozy yelped as she fell backward. She felt like she’d ran a hundred miles, her heart was racing. Her hair was standing up on end. She could feel her whole body shake. A chill went down her spine like she was staring down the jaws of a monster. Looking back up at the bell it glowed softly, whispers coming from the dark artifact. “HURRY!” Her shock was broken as she heard Tirek’s cry. She was running out of time. Thinking quickly she took off her snowcap and wrapped the bell inside it. Quickly she took the makeshift sack and flew toward the exit. Wincing at the sudden daylight, she dove through the hole just as the magical barrier slammed shut. She fell headfirst into a pile of snow. Poking her head out she saw her companions look at her expectantly. She lifted her hat and revealed the bell. “Ta-da?” Cozy said sheepishly. Chrysalis turned back to the centaur. “My magic.” The changeling pleaded Tirek looked at his larger form one last time before sighing. He opened his mouth returning the magic to his changeling ally. Chrysalis could feel her strength return as she leapt up to her hooves. Cozy didn’t bother to listen to their conversation as she stared back at the bell. It glowed faintly as it and the whispers died out. Its glowing runes fading as the bell turned dark. The filly narrowed her eyes at the bell, a sense of dread spreading over her. “NOO!” Cozy snapped out her thoughts at the queen’s outburst. “The Magic of Friendship is like a disease! An infection that spreads to those around you.” Chrysalis paced, quickly Cozy took her hat back and flew over to Tirek with the bell in hoof as Chrysalis continued. “I watched it infect my hive, I will not let it get me!” She said turning back to her allies. “Obviously,” Tirek responded. “Same,” Cozy agreed before looking back at the bell. “But Grogar said we have to work together.” “Grogar is too powerful, something must be done about that,” Chrysalis said. “Let Grogar think we’re his loyal servants. In the meantime, we’ll hatch our own plan.” Chrysalis grinned her voice dripping with malicious intent. “Ooh, I love a good backstabbing.” Cozy agreed, holding the bell close. “After that, we can go back to destroying each other!” Tirek said with glee. “But what do we do with this thing?” Cozy asked looking back at the bell. “I can think of a few things.” Chrysalis grinned. “But that will have to wait, we have to go back to our ‘master’,” Chrysalis said rolling her eyes. “That and it’s cold up here.” The three of them started to shiver at that. The three made their way back down the mountain. Cozy paused and gave one last look to the cave. Something didn’t seem right. “Cozy hurry up! We don’t have all day!” Tirek yelled back at her. Cozy shook her head and flew after her allies. But back in the cave, the statue of the dragon head stood. Suddenly a creaking noise filled the cave as the mouth of the dragon snapped shut. The ruby eyes glowed as the sounds of gears filled the room. The gears turned and pistons began to move, as an old mechanism started to churn. *drip drip drip drip* Deep below the mountain, in a vast dark cavern, several gears began to move. Several small crystals lit up the large cavern. It was larger than an entire town possibly the size of Manehantten. Scattered throughout the cavern was a sea of treasure. One could buy an entire country with how much there was and barely make a dent. The ancient mechanism continued to churn as it opened a secret hatch in the wall. Within sat a small green crystal sphere upon a stone disk surrounded by six small crystals. The crystals lit up with hum, sounding almost like notes from a flute. The glowing gems shot out energy to the sphere. The sphere started swirling with energy, lighting up with a green glow. A female voice spoke out as if it was waking up. “Hmm….wha? Five more minutes, Mother I wish to sleep.” The sphere said. The surrounding crystals responded by zapping the ball again. “Alright, alright! I’m up I’m up!” The sphere said annoyed. “What’s with all the ruckus?” One of the crystals, an orange one lit up, sounding off a low hum. “Come again? I’m still waking up.” The crystal ball responded. The pink crystal lit up, emitting a more high-pitched hum. “Gone? What do you mean gone?” The sphere asked, its voice growing worried. The blue crystal lit up with a short low pitched hum. “How?!” The sphere shook, her voice echoing off the walls. “Who took the Bewitching Bell?!” The purple crystal gave off a soothing pitch. “A filly? How in the name of the Stars did a filly find her way up there and take the bell?!” The magenta crystal responded with a dutiful pitch. “Two other life forms, with powerful magic? Great…..” The sphere groaned. “Okay, we prepared for this. It’s time to wake ‘him’ up.” The sphere said the other crystals lit up in alarm each emitting a hum in protest. “We have no choice! If they figure out how to use the bell who knows what happens!” The sphere said in alarm. “How long has it been gone?” The six crystals went silent at that. “Well? How long?” None moved, as if scared to answer. Then the yellow crystal lit up, giving off a quiet hum. “What was that?” The sphere asked, the yellow crystal seemed to shake in fear, and lit up again in a slightly louder pitch. “Come again? Can you speak up, please?” The sphere said growing annoyed. After a few seconds, as if the crystal was taking in a breath, it lit up, letting off a loud hum that shook their pedestal. … … … “THREE MONTHS??!! WHY WASN’T I WOKEN UP SOONER?!!!” The sphere screamed in alarm. The crystals seemed to cower at that, if they could move they would’ve scooted far back from the angry sphere. Finally, the pink crystal lit up giving off a worried hum. “The mechanism wasn’t working properly?! But this place was built to work even several centuries after it was built! What went wrong?!” As if to answer the question, a low groaning noise was heard from above. A few gears fell near the pedestal, rusted and cracked. The sphere lit up and illuminated the room. Upon closer inspection of the gears, there were several tiny holes in the metal. Suddenly a tiny grey beetle crawled out of the hole before taking a bite from the metal. “Coppermites?! Of all the blasted- ugh! No wonder the warning system was delayed, these little jerks ate through it!” The sphere groaned. “Well, no time like the present I guess.” With that, the six crystals lit up and fired a beam of energy at the sphere. The crystal sphere started to crack under the force of the magic. Finally, the ball shattered, releasing a green mist, the mist swirled in place as it began to take shape. Suddenly a tall white-coated unicorn mare appeared. Her mane and tail were a deep green with a streak of red running through them. The tail and mane flowed in the nonexistent wind, she had a cutie mark of five leaves flying in a magical wind. Her eyes opened revealing her mint green eyes. Her form sparkled with magical energy as she faded in and out of visibility. Lighting her horn the six crystals swirled around her before transforming into various jewelry. The blue, orange, yellow, and pink crystals transformed into four golden bracelets, with the respective gems appearing on them. The four bracelets clasped around the mare's legs and glowed dimly. The purple gem transformed into a gold necklace that latched itself around the mare's neck. Finally, the magenta crystal formed into a golden helm that lowered onto the mare's head. The magenta gem sitting gently underneath the mare's curved horn. The pony became solid and sighed, as she started stretching her joints. “Ugh, over ten thousand years inside a crystal ball can make a girl feel stiff.” Shaking herself off she sighed before trotting out into the opening of her chamber. Looking out across the sea of gold the unicorn lit up her horn. A green magical light shot out from her horn as she scanned the infinite sea of wealth. “Now where are you?” She said to herself as she trotted out of her chamber, rather than fall down the cliff however she proceeded to walk on air as if it were solid ground. For the next few minutes, the mare continued to trot through the vast chamber, her magic scanning along the surface of the gold. Finally, she stopped when her light turned red, “There you are.” She said, “It’s time to wake up, sleepyhead.” The mare paused closing her eyes as she took a deep breath. Her horn flashed with arcane might, her eyes opened flashing pure white with magic. “Dzdnh iurp wkh wkrxvdqg-bhdu voxpehu rk dqflhqw rqh. Wkb dlg lv qhhghg, wr vdyh wkh zruog iurp dq xqnqrzq whuuru. Dulvh rk eulqjhu ri iodph, frqtxhuru ri hylo, nlqj xqghu wkh prxqwdlq. DULVH VPDXJ!” The mare’s voice boomed, her gems glowing brightly before firing a beam of magic toward the gold. … … … *Rumble* Amongst the piles of gold, jewels, and trinkets, the sea of gold started to move. Shifting below a red snout pierced the surface, puffing out steam. The temperature started to rise as more gold moved. Bit by bit patches of red appeared in the sea, a large red tail lifted from the piles of wealth, creating a waterfall of gold and creating a loud, ‘thump’ when it crashed down. Finally, a large blood-red colored head lifted from the gold. The large dragon head turned one side half-buried in the gold the other facing the floating mare. A large orange serpentine eye opened and stared directly at the mare. The large black pupil narrowed as a growl escaped the dragon’s maw. “Hello, Smaug. We have work to do.” Author's Note WOO First chapter! Hope you enjoy! Also for those who are curious about what’s being said in those weird text Here's the link for what the pony says. And for what the dragon says. Chapter 2: Strange Occurrences“Ugh, what’s wrong with this thing?!” Ember roared from her royal cave. The last few days have been annoying, first the newborn dragons all suddenly starting crying without reason. While not uncommon amongst babies, for all of them to start acting up at the same time was odd. Then the lava spouts started going crazy, spewing more lava than normal causing earthquakes across the dragon lands. “And now this thing is acting up!” Ember growled as she shook the Bloodstone Scepter in her claws. The large red gem glowed erratically and had been letting off pulses of energy at random. “This makes no sense! I’m the Dragon Lord so why isn’t this thing working!?” She roared letting out a blast of fire in rage. “You sure you haven’t broken it?” Former Dragon Lord Torch asked. “Yes Dad, I’m sure I didn’t break it! I’ve been following the advice of the elders, but this blasted thing keeps acting up!” Ember huffed with embarrassment. She set the thing down on the stone slab in front of her. Torch looked down at the tiny (to him) scepter closely. “Are you sure you didn’t smash it against a wall or something?” Torch said with his arms crossed. “I didn’t smash anything with it! I’ve treated it with the utmost care like I would with my hoard!” Ember sighed, rubbing her face. “Has this ever happened when you were Dragon Lord?” Torch paused as he stroked his chin in thought. “In all my years as the Dragon Lord, nothing like this has happened. It is quite strange indeed.” Torch said looking back to the glowing stone. “If the stone is damaged in any way we will have a big problem. Without the Bloodstone Scepter, we cannot keep the dragons in check, and many are not fond of this ‘friendship’ direction you are taking the dragons in.” Torch groaned in worry. “I will not have an uprising within the first decade I’ve become the Dragon Lord!” Ember stomped before angrily grabbing the scepter. “Obey me you stupid rock!” She yelled, the Bloodstone glowed before letting off another pulse of energy knocking it out of her grasp. “Gyah!” Ember yelled as she was flung from the scepter, landing in the outstretched palm of her father. “Ugh! Stupid thing!” “Um...am I interrupting something?” Smolder said, stepping into the cave. “Smolder? What are you doing here?” Ember said in surprise as the orange dragon walked in. “I thought Princess Star Spankle’s school was back in session? You aren’t ditching are you?” “Um no? They’re having another pony holiday so they gave the next week off. Also, I think you mean Twilight Sparkle.” Smolder corrected. “How many holidays do those equines have? One for every day of the year?” Troch said, rolling his eyes. “They don’t have that many former lord Torch,” Smolder said with a snicker before pausing. “At least I think they don’t. Professor Pinkie treats every day like a party so it could be either way. So what’s wrong with the Bloodstone Scepter?” “The scepter is acting strange, it hardly follows my commands and has been glowing weirdly lately.” Ember sighed. “It lets off these pulses of energy, and I think the Dragon Lands is reacting as a result.” Just as she said that an explosion was heard from outside as a young dragon flew through the air covered in lava. “I’m okay!” The random drake shouted. “Ahh that. I was wondering why there was more lava than usual.” Smolder said. “Have you tried asking it nicely?” “Nicely? No Dragon Lord asks the scepter to work, they command it!” Torch roared his voice echoing through the cave. “Dad, I told you no yelling in my cave!” Ember groaned as her ears rang. “Oh right. Apologies daughter.” Torch said in a quieter tone. “Ugh, well it couldn’t hurt to try?” Smolder said, shaking her head from the noise. “Professor Fluttershy says it’s the kind thing to do?” “Fine, I guess I’ll give it a try.” Ember groaned as she walked over to the fallen scepter. Picking it up she stared at the gem in question. “Could you please follow my commands?” She asked in a strained voice. The gem glowed lightly in response, Ember flinched back waiting for another pulse. Nothing happened. “Huh, it worked,” Smolder said as she poked her head out from a nearby stone pillar. “What? You didn’t think it would work?!” Ember yelled angrily at the young dragoness. “And why are you hiding?!” “Well, I don’t know how old magic artifacts work! And I didn’t want to be blasted away if it didn’t!” Smolder retorted before stepping out from her makeshift shield. “Maybe ask it why it went bonkers?” “The Bloodstone Scepter isn’t a living creature! It’s an item to command all dragons!” Torch responded in annoyance. “Well do you have any better ideas?” Smolder asked, crossing her arms. Torch raised a claw to answer but paused when he had none. Ember slapped a claw to her face before groaning. “Okay, whatever, I’ll try anything at this point” Ember grumbled before looking back at the scepter. “Okay uh Bloodstone, does the recent strange events have to do with you acting up?” The stone shook before shooting out a ray of light above them. The light formed a glowing claw. The claw shifted before forming a thumbs up. “Well, that’s new,” Ember said as she and the other dragons in the room looked up in shock. “That’s not possible?” Torch said, confused. “No record told that the scepter could do this!” “Must be a new feature or something,” Smolder said. Torch and Ember gave her an annoyed look. “What?” “Okay. Bloodstone are you the reason why all this has been happening?” Ember asked, the claw shifted again making a thumbs down. “I’ll take that as a no then. Great.” Ember deadpanned. “Maybe Princess Twilight can help? She knows all about magical artifacts.” Smolder suggested. “Well, that’s the best option we have now.” Ember groaned. “Father, can you keep the other dragons in line while I’m gone?” “Fine, but you best hurry. There’s something strange going on and I don’t like it.” Torch said. “Alright then, Smolder led the way,” Ember said looking back to the younger dragoness. “What? But I just got back!” Smolder whined. “No buts, this is an order from your Dragon Lord,” Ember commanded. “Besides I wanna check in on your progress at the school while we’re there.” “Is this because you still can’t tell the ponies apart from each other,” Smolder said with a smirk. “Hush or I’ll make them give you more homework,” Ember said with an embarrassed look. The two waved to Torch goodbye before flying out of the cave and toward Equestria. Author's Note HEYO I'M BACK! Sorry for the Loooonnnnnnngggg delay. Life has not been fun for the past few months and I finally got back into the swing of things and was able to type up this chapter. Again, don't expect constant or consistent updates. (I'm bad at time management I know ) I hope you all enjoy this chapter! Chapter 3: Visions and Missions....Look I know.... ....Hi krilon?... ...Wkdw lv … .....you're angry but….. ....Zu'u fend.… ....qr gudjrq…. ....Cozy…. ....krii hi…. ....lw'v….. ...Hey now! Hey!.... ....Cozy.... ...Take it easy! Calm Down!.... ....wkh ghylo…. ...kolos hi kriist!.... “COZY GLOW!” “GAH!” Cozy shouted as she fell out of bed. “Owww.” She groaned, her ears perked at the sound of pounding, and turned to her door. “WHAT?!” “Finally up? Well, hurry up! It’s almost noon!” Tirek yelled from the other side of the door. “I’m up, I’m up!” Cozy yelled back, she heard Tirek huff before trotting away. She glared at the door before sighing. “Did I oversleep again? Greeeat.” She groaned before standing up and glanced around her quarters. Grogar had provided each of them with a cave-like room when he recruited them months ago. Several different decorations hung around the room. A dartboard hung on the wall, at its center was a photo of the mane six with a few darts piercing it. A small drawer sat in the corner that held various bows and brushes for her mane and tail. “Ugh, I need to stop staying up so late." Cozy groaned. "Although beating Tirek and Chrysalis in those board games was fun.” Cozy giggled as she pulled out a brush. As she got ready her mind wandered to her dream, she couldn’t remember much. Normally her dreams were clear as day but lately, they’ve been cryptic. Nothing but darkness and whispers. “Eh, I’ll deal with that later.” She shrugged as she finished getting ready. She flew out of her room and made her way toward the dining room. There she found Chrysalis waiting at the table with some newspaper. The queen looked annoyed as she struggled to solve a crossword puzzle. “Look who’s finally awake,” Chrysalis snarked as Cozy sat at the table. “While you were busy snoozing we have been hounded on by our great ‘leader’.” “What’s got his fur in a twist?” Cozy asked taking a seat. “Is he still mad about us ‘failing’ our mission?” “That or whatever tick has crawled in his hide. Honestly, that goat is always grumpy.” Chrysalis snarked. “He seems more like a ram if I think.” Cozy corrected. “Still doesn’t give him the right to act so rude. I am-" “A queen yes you’ve said that a hundred times already.” Cozy interjected with a groan. Chrysalis hissed toward the pegasus as Tirek entered the room. “Good you’re here, I’ve got lunch or in your case brunch,” Tirek said trotting over with a bowl of fruit and a cage of parasprites. “Grogar has gone off in search of another magical artifact by himself since we ‘failed’ to retrieve the bell.” The centaurs said placing the cage and bowl on the table. “He still has no clue about our plan right?” Cozy asked as she hovered over and grabbed an orange from the bowl. “Of course not, that old fool has no idea what we’re up to,” Chrysalis said as she grabbed the cage with her magic, she licked her lips as she stared down the trapped creatures. The parasprites buzzed in terror as she drained them of their love. Cozy grimaced as she watched the bugs flop down to the bottom of the cage devoid of emotion, while she may have gotten to know her fellow evildoer, she still wasn’t used to her ally’s dietary needs. “That or he doesn’t think we pose enough of a threat to care,” Tirek said munching on a pear. “Honestly I think that old ram is becoming senile with what we’ve gotten away with under his watch.” “As long as he doesn’t find the bell we’re in the clear,” Cozy said taking a bite out of her food. “We don’t want to end up like Sombra.” “He was an overconfident fool, how he conquered the Crystal Empire in the past is beyond me,” Chrysalis said with distaste. “He did destroy the Tree of Harmony, and had most of Equestria under his control.” Cozy pointed out. “And he could’ve had complete control if he brainwashed or eliminated those six annoying mares,” Tirek said. “He had them in his grasp, trapped and defenseless! But he just left them to their own devices! He was an idiot, and even if he did do something he would never have bested that blasted draconequus.” Tirek grumbled crushing an apple in his hand. “We will deal with Discord in due time. In the meantime, we must learn to master the Bewitching Bell’s power.” Chrysalis proclaimed. “So far we haven’t had been able to do anything with it.” “None of the books here tell us how to use the bell, and we can’t ask Grogar without tipping him off.” Cozy groaned. “Then it’s time we broaden our search then,” Chrysalis said. “Perhaps we should pay a visit to Twilight Sparkle’s castle.” “Don’t bother, I would’ve found something when I was pretending to be her top student at the Friendship School. Although she did mention once that the vast archives in Canterlot have a restricted area.” Cozy added. “Celestia and Luna love to hoard knowledge for themselves. If there’s an answer it’s there.” Tirek proposed. “My triumphant return to Canterlot? I like the sound of that.” Chrysalis smirked. “Oh, my gosh road trip! I’ll go pack!” Cozy said excitedly before flying back to her room. Tirek and Chrysalis looked on in surprise. “It’s times like this I’m reminded that she is just a child,” Tirek says crossing his arms. “Indeed, though her intellect would dare to contest that notion,” Chrysalis said with an eyebrow raised. “But she’s right, we must prepare. I’ll draw up a map of the city and castle.” “And I will find us a route to get there us there quickly, who knows how long Grogar will be gone.” The two nodded and head off to prepare. Cozy meanwhile zooms around her room getting her things together. “Hehe, finally! No more sitting around, with the bell under our control Equestria will be ours!” Cozy giggled evilly as she packed. “At least till I beat those two dumb-dumbs and take everything for myself.” She thought to herself. ...Kh dzdnhqv…. Cozy sat up straight, her ears perking at the noise. Did she just hear something? No, she couldn’t have. But her feathers ruffled and her fur stood on end. She felt like she was being watched. Turning she cast her gaze around her room, her eyes paused on her bookshelf. It was less of a bookshelf and more of a missing chunk of the wall, that held her various books. An ‘Art of Swindling’ guidebook written by the Flim Flam Brothers, one of their few genuine products that she ‘borrowed’. A ‘Guide to helping Others’ written by Starlight Glimmer and Fluttershy, along with multiple books on battle tactics and manipulating others, some Cozy wrote herself in her off time, and finally one slightly beat-up copy of Princess Twilight’s Friendship Journal. She narrowed her eyes before flying to the shelf. Cozy felt her heartbeat increase as a chill went down her spine. She reached out to the journal, she paused looking toward the door. Shaking her head she grabbed the book, carefully she opened it. The inside had been hollowed out, and there sat the Bewitching Bell. It laid there quietly, dormant, dead. It hadn’t glowed or done anything since she brought it out of the cave. Slowly she raised a hoof toward it, bracing herself she touched the cold metal of the bell. Nothing. Sighing Cozy groaned, “Ugh I think Chrysalis’s crazy is starting to rub off on me.” She shook her head and closed the book returning it to her shelf. She grabbed her bag and headed out the door. She gave one last look to the shelf before leaving. Not a moment after the journal gave off a dull teal glow. Author's Note Hi everyone, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. It took much longer than I thought it would. I apologize for the long silence, but life has been difficult and too distracting for writing. College will start up again for me on Monday, meaning I will have a more tight schedule. And some very bad things have happened in the past few days, I'll explain further in a blog if I feel up to it. I just felt I owed you guys an explanation, but still please don't expect frequent updates in the near future. I wish you all a good day. Chapter 4: Questions and TheoriesAs the sun sets on the horizon, its glimmering light dancing on the walls of Canterlot, Celestia sighs in content atop her tower balcony. “Ah, another day ending,” Celestia said with a smile. “And another night beginning,” Luna said trotting up to her sister. The two exchanged a hug as they set the celestial bodies on their way. “But I suppose tonight will be anything but normal,” Celestia said with a somewhat somber tone. “Indeed, this will be our last Summer Sunset Celebration, for both us and the rest of Equestria,” Luna said. “Do you think we’re doing the right thing?” Celestia asked as she trotted back into her chamber. “You aren’t having second thoughts now are you sister?” Luna asked following close behind. “No, Twilight is ready dear sister. She has been for quite a while, I’m just worried our ponies may not take it well.” Celestia lamented as she trotted out the door. The two ventured down the hallway past various guards and staff all of who bowed in their presence. “The citizens of Equestria have long since given their trust to Twilight and her friends in recent years. I doubt there is any who wouldn’t say she will make an excellent leader.” Luna said confidently. “Indeed, however so much has happened in the past few months,” Celestia said pausing as they entered the grand hallway. Here large stained glass windows stood on both sides of the corridor depicting various important events in Equestria’s history. As the two entered Luna made sure to wave at the Security Geese nesting above before the two stopped at the newest addition to the gallery. It depicted the dark King Sombra’s attack on Equestria and his destruction of the Tree of Harmony before being defeated once more by Twilight and her friends. “The return of Sombra troubles me sister, while Twilight and her friends came through once more. It did not come without cost.” Celestia sighed, Luna placed a wing on her sister’s shoulder to comfort her. “The loss of the tree and the elements was heartbreaking sister, and still I can not fully comprehend that it happened. And while Twilight’s students helped remake the tree into the Treehouse of Harmony, it still doesn’t take away the shock of it all.” Luna said. “Indeed but what’s more concerning me is the timing of the events. Not shortly after we privately announce our retirement does darkness rear its head.” Celestia said with grim worry. “Thou believe there is something more behind Sombra’s return?” Luna inquired. “Or someone, Sombra was banished into the Aether and he had returned stronger than ever. Not shortly after did we receive word that Tirek and Cozy Glow had escaped Tartarus without a trace.” Celestia said. “The report we received stated that there was no forced exit from either Cozy or Tirek’s cages. Nor did it appear they were unlocked. They must have received help, but from where and who?” “Could it have been Chrysalis? She has not been since she was dethroned.” Luna suggested. “No, I doubt she would even know where to look for Tartarus, let alone have the power to enter and break out two of its most well-guarded occupants.” Celestia corrected, she paused for a moment as she gazed over toward another mural, it depicting Cozy’s defeat. “I truly wished that Twilight could have gotten through to Cozy, to think that a child, one of our little ponies, was willing to rid the world of magic in an attempt to conquer us all, and with still no information on where she came from or who her family is.” “Indeed, even my attempts to enter her dreams had been for naught. Very few can keep me out, and she managed it while still so young. She hath the mind of a genius.” Luna lamented. “I think...I think we should hold off our retirement a little while longer, we may be transferring the crown to Twilight, but it does not mean we can’t still assist her. At least till those three are found.” Celestia said, Luna, nodded in agreement. “Oh wanting to fix some last few mistakes before turning in the towel are we?” A voice echoed out from all around. Celestia sighed with a playful smirk while Luna rolled her eyes. “Hello Discord,” Celestia said. “Are you here to enjoy the holiday?” The two looked up as a Goose suddenly leaped up in alarm. A strange-looking egg lay in its nest. It jiggled and rolled out before either of the two could catch it paused in mid-air. It started to crack and from the top poked out the head of the draconequus in question. “Now what gave you that idea?” Discord said gleefully. He shook the egg as his limbs popped out of more cracks, “You like? Rarity said I should accessorize more.” “What is it you need Discord?” Luna groaned. The chaotic spirit shed the egg and reappeared atop the lunar princess's crown. “Well if you must know I came for the eventual chaos that will unfold once you tell little Twilight about the importance of this event.” Luna snorted and shook her head throwing Discord off. He landed on the floor and broke apart like a Lego set. “Also I figured I way in on your little conversation with some news.” “What news? Did you find where Tirek and Cozy are?” Celestia asked eyebrow raised. “No nothing like that.” Discord said reappearing in front of them, in a monk robe. “I had felt a certain ‘disturbance’ earlier today and went to investigate. But all I found was a minor earthquake had occurred and caused a wildfire near Mt. Everhoof. Luckily no one was around to be put in danger. I graciously put it out to prevent further damage to any wildlife critters.” He said pulling off the robe. “Hmm well, at least there was no long-lasting damage,” Celestia said. “Thank you Discord.” “The pleasure is all mine, we must take care of our environment after all.” Discord said wearing a forest ranger hat. “You’re just trying to get Fluttershy to make her famous buttermilk tea and biscuits for you aren’t you?” Luna said with a smirk. “Wait how do you know about those?” Discord questioned. “You're not the only one who she has tea with you know.” Luna beamed sticking out a tongue. Discord harrumphed in jealously. “If that is all Discord I believe we’ll take our leave, we have much to discuss with Twilight,” Celestia said with a smile. “Perhaps the two of you could plan a joint tea party with Fluttershy sometime after?” “Oh, what a marvelous idea! I’ll go tell Fluttershy now!” Discord said before teleporting away. Luna gave her sister the stink eye. “You enjoyed that didn’t you Tia?” Luna said as Celestia chuckled. Meanwhile As the Moon and stars glimmered overhead, a grey pegasus mare was making her way through the sky. “Alrighty, last stop Canterlot! One last mail delivery and I’m free to enjoy the holiday.” Derpy said in a sing-song voice. “Although I wish Yona had given me that last delivery earlier today. Yakyakistan is a bit of far for little old me.” The bubbly mare flew on merrily. As she passed through some cloud banks, she felt her fur stand on end. It suddenly felt warmer than before, then out of the corner of her uncentered eye she saw something. “Huh?” She turned around to see several flocks of birds flying frantically toward her. She quickly dipped into a nearby cloud as they passed by in a bit of a panic. Poking her head out she tilted her head in confusion. “Now what’s got their feathers in a twist? I’ve never seen that many birdies fly at this time of hour.” Her thoughts were interrupted by what sounded like a thunderclap, suddenly she was hit with a powerful gust of wind. Her mail cap flew off her head for a moment before she caught it with her teeth, she held onto both her bag and the cloud for dear life as this sudden blast of wind tried to send her flying. The wind passed and she sighed in relief when the light of the moon was suddenly cut off. Looking up the mare's eyes straightened and shrunk in terror. A titanic shadow passed over her for several moments before vanishing into the clouds ahead. Her jaw dropped as she let go of her hat. She followed where the creature left, seeing its wings silently poke out above the clouds a few times before vanishing into the night. She didn’t even notice her cap gently placed back upon her head as a green mist zipped past chasing after the shadow. Author's Note Hey, all-new chapter! Finally got some writing mojo back, been a bit of a hectic few months. Upside my mom is doing better, she finished radiation and everything is looking good. The scary part is over thankfully. Sorry for the long delay, I hope you enjoy this chapter, and lets all look forward to a better more positive new year! :) Chapter 5: Dreams and Preperations“No…” The Bewitching Bell glowed dimly, barely giving any light in the endless void. Zu'u fen siiv hi tafiir “...Stop…” A heartbeat echoed through the silence, following in rhythm with the glow of the bell. Hi nis iliis “Stay back….” The heartbeat quickened as the bell pulsed brighter. Hi nis filok dii bah. “Please…” The beat grew louder, the bell glowed brighter. Dii yolos “Stay back….” A sudden heat filled the air as the Bell pulsed faster and faster. Fen drun hi gral The light from the Bell illuminated the void. Its teal green light envelops all, revealing a large row of gigantic sharp teeth behind it. The heartbeat grew erratic. Zu'u fen The jaws of the unseen monster slowly opened, a low growl escaping them Drun hi The air grew hotter as the heartbeat raced. Dinok The light of the bell became red, the fangs lunged forward in a roar. “AHHH-” Cozy screamed, Tirek covered her mouth with his hand. “Shh! You want to get us caught?” Tirek whispered. “At least you’re up, we’re almost there.” As Tirek let her go he noticed her panicked expression and rolled his eyes. “What’s the matter? Had a nightmare? Snap out of it, we need to get ready.” Cozy shook her head, getting her senses back. The two villains poked out from their cover, a bundle of hay in a wagon. The sun had set and the Moon had started to rise. The road ahead was busy as ponies arrived at the city gates. Canterlot was abuzz with activity as the holiday festivities were underway. Their ride took a turn off the road to the side, and an earth pony mare unhooked herself from the wagon and made her way to the back. Making sure the coast was clear, the mare knocked on the wagon. “Um, why are we stopping?” Cozy asked as Chrysalis’s disguise fell with emerald flames. “There are too many creatures out there, and I’m tired of pulling your hefty behinds!” Chrysalis hissed. “I’ll have you know that I am pure muscle!” Tirek shot back, poking his head out from the hay. “Ugh, I hate traffic.” Cozy groaned, “It’ll take forever to get inside!” “Agreed, I know a better way inside.” Chrysalis offered. “Well let's go then!” Cozy huffed impatiently. “If it means I can stretch my legs and get out of this hay, then I’m all for it,” Tirek said, brushing some straw off his body. “Ugh, I still wish I had time to pack outfits for the festival.” Rarity sighed. She along with the others was sitting in one of the castle lounges. “Honestly, it’s not often that Canterlot gets to hold the Summer Sun Celebration.” “It’s usually held elsewhere, but I think after Sombra’s return and siege on the city the Princesses wanted to boost morale.” Applejack remarked, leaning back in her chair. Fluttershy nodded in agreement. “All of Canterlot was under his terrifying mind-control spell. I heard the local schools couldn’t open due to how scared foals and families were for a while,” Fluttershy said, “We were under his spell for only a few minutes and even I could hardly sleep for a week after that.” “And that’s why they all needed a party!” Pinkie cheered before devouring a cake. “It’s just what they need to forget those bad memories and put a smile on everypony’s face!” She beamed. “Right as always, Pinkie Pie!” Dash said relaxing on a sofa. “And with the preparations done, we can party all night long! I can’t wait to win some festival games.” She boasted. “I’m just happy Braeburn managed to get some stalls reserved. Appaloosa has been bustling with tourism, and some share of some genuine Apple sweets ought to knock the hats off ponies here.” Applejack bragged. “How is Braeburn doing by the way? Relations with Buffalo still doing well?” Rarity asked, sipping some tea. “Yeah! Great in fact! Appaloosa’s become a great mixture of pony and buffalo culture. Ponies teaching the Buffalo some agricultural and building techniques, and the Buffalo showing the ponies how to connect with the land.” Applejack beamed. “Heck, I heard Little Strongheart has been taking foals out on field trips.” “That’s lovely to hear Applejack! Maybe I could go out and help with some of them.” Fluttershy said. Suddenly the doors opened up as Twilight and Spike walked in. “Oh, there you are darlings! We were wondering when you would show up.” Rarity inquired, her demeanor changed as she noticed Twilight and Spike’s slightly nervous expressions. “Oh, is there something the matter?” “Well, there’s been a few changes of plans.” Twilight began. “Oh don’t tell me there’s more work to do! I wanted to go enjoy the festivities.” Rainbow groaned. “Only a few quick minor ones, but I’ve got some important news from Celestia and Luna,” Twilight said, closing the door behind her. “In light of Sombra’s attack, Tirek’s and Cozy’s disappearance from Tartarus, the princesses have decided to hold off on their retirement.” The girls were shocked at that. “Does this mean you’re not going to become the new ruler of Equestria?” Fluttershy asked. “No, I’m still going to become the new ruler, Celestia and Luna just want to remain until Cozy and Tirek are found.” Twilight explained. “And Chrysalis,” Spike added. “They want to be advisors for Twilight and us for when we take the role.” “Well, that makes sense. Then again I’m surprised they didn’t do that in the first place.” Applejack commented. “That’s because they want things to play out all boring like.” A voice echoed around them. The seven of them were suddenly teleported to the grand hallway. There they saw Discord adding a mustache and sombrero to the portrait of Sombra. “So silly to think they can control everything.” “Hello, Discord,” Twilight said, rolling her eyes. “Changing the murals again I see?” “I figured it would help the citizens make light of the past. What better way to get over an attack on the capital than with some light comedy?” Discord joked donning a poncho and shaking some maracas, Pinkie and Dash laughed at the mural while the others chuckled. “Anywho weren’t you getting to the part where this was the last Summer Sun situation or whatever?” “Yes I was just getting to that, thank you Discord.” Twilight sighed. “The last Summer Sun Celebration? But it's my fifth favorite holiday!” Pinkie exclaimed in shock. “Fifth? What’s the first?” Rainbow asked, Pinkie looked from side to side before pulling her close. “My parent’s birthday! But you didn’t hear it from me.” She whispered before giggling. “Getting back on topic, it’s the last Summer Sun Celebration?” Applejack said with concern. “Yes, that’s what they said. They don’t see a need for it after they step down from the throne,” Twilight stated, pulling out a sun and moon ornate amulet. “They even want me to raise the Sun when the festival ends. But I don’t think the festival has to end as they think.” “Ooh? What’s this?” Discord exclaimed, popping next to Twilight. “Little miss, do everything the princess asks, ignoring their wishes? How scandalous!” He mocked, summoning a t-shirt with the words ‘Rebel Princess’ on it. “Not like that Discord,” Twilight explained. “They are right about the holiday not being needed once they leave,” She insisted, giving Spike a knowing grin. “Instead of celebrating Celestia’s defeat of Nightmare Moon and Luna’s reunion with her, it will be a holiday about how much everypony cares about them!” Spike declared with a smile. “How lovely, but what will it be called?” Fluttershy asked. Twilight and Spike shared a glance. Twilight lit up her horn and conjured an image of Celestia and Luna behind them. “The Festival of the Two Sisters!” They cheered in unison, doing a little pose. The girls giggled at the sibling’s antics and applauded them. “That sounds lovely darlings! Absolutely lovely! I’m sure this surprise will move the Princesses!” Rarity said cheerfully. “Yeah so long as no one tells them before hoof. Right, you two?” Applejack probed, giving a glance at Pinkie and Discord. Pinkie was shaking in place in excitement while Discord whistled innocently. “My lips are sealed!” Pinkie grinned before zipping up her mouth. “I would never dream of such a thing!” Discord mocked, placing a paw on his chest and raising his claw. “Draconequus honor!” Fluttershy glanced over and saw his tail paw (Hand? Magical tufts of fur?) cross its fingers. “Discord…” She said with a knowing tone. “Oh fine, whatever. But how exactly are you going to pull this off?” Discord asked curiously. “A long list of overly complicated tasks for your friends to do and eventually freak out when we can’t get it done in time?” “Actually Mr. Knowitall, I haven’t,” Twilight said smugly, summoning a few notecards for them, minus Discord to his annoyance. “This is it? I was actually with Discord on this one.” Rainbow said, surprised. “No more crazy lists, no more freaking out. With your help, I know we’ve got this.” Twilight declared. “Ugh, character growth is so boring. Do I at least get my own notecard?” Discord teased. Twilight rolled her eyes in amusement before conjuring up another card for him. “Now I need to go rewrite my speech, if you all look at your cards you’ll see-” “Can’t talk now, have so much to get done before sunrise.” Discord interrupted teleporting them all away. Twilight chuckled before trotting off. As she did she suddenly felt a chill down her spine, but she couldn’t put her hoof on why. In the city, the streets were abuzz with life as ponies started to celebrate the holiday. Everypony was so occupied no one noticed three figures hiding in a dark alleyway. “When you said you had another way inside the city, I didn’t think you meant the sewers!” Cozy huffed as she dried off her soaked bow. “Oh I’m sorry, would you have preferred to be flown in on a royal chariot?” Chrysalis mocked. “Would you two be quiet! We’ll be caught at this rate.” Tirek shushed them as they peeked out the alley, ducking down as a group of partying foals passed by. “I knew Canterlot would be crowded but this is ridiculous! Why are so many ponies up in the middle of the night?” “Oh darn it! It’s that stupid sun holiday! I knew I was forgetting something!” Cozy face hoofed. “Just how many holidays do you ponies have?” Chrysalis groaned. “No matter, getting into the castle won’t be a problem.” “Are you sure about that?” Tirek said, pointing to large fans on top of the castle’s roofs. A few birds flew by and were flung away by the power of the fans, one sent careening into Tirek’s chest. He plucked it off him and let it fly off dizzily. “Oh, well those are new,” Chrysalis remarked. “But even so…” with a burst of flames, she transformed into a guard. “..no place is secure enough to keep me out.” She chuckled before trotting off. “Well, I suppose we’ll just wait here then.” Tirek huffed as sat down. He turned and watched Cozy as she started trotting in place. Giving glances toward the sky in worry. “Alright, what’s going on with you?” He questioned. “I’m worried we’ll be caught, that's what! I do not want to go back to Tartarus for the rest of my life.” Cozy retorted, before jumping at the sound of a falling can. The two turned and saw a cat knocking it around. It hissed when it noticed them before running off, Cozy sighed in relief while Tirek raised an eyebrow. “I don’t buy it.” He inquired, “You have been acting strange the entire trip. So either explain or snap out of it. I won’t let whatever’s going on ruin this mission or I swear to Cerberus I will fling you back to the lair myself!” Tirek huffed, giving Cozy a stern look. “Oh alright fine!” Cozy relented. “I’ve been having…nightmares recently.” She admitted. “I’ve noticed.” Tirek deadpanned. “So what has that moon alicorn been punishing you or did Grogar’s wrath finally scare you?” “Neither of those you dummy! If Luna was ‘punishing’ me with nightmares, she would be doing the same thing to you.” Cozy said, sticking her tongue out. “And Grogar doesn’t scare me!.... At least not directly.” “Beg your pardon?” Tirek questioned. “Ugh, ever since we left Mount Everhoof with the Bell I’ve been having weird dreams. But only recently have they started to get scary.” Cozy groaned. “And this relates to Grogar, how?” Tirek asked, stroking his beard. “I don’t know! At first, the dreams were random nonsense, blurry images, and strange noises. I felt like I was in somepony else’s body. As time went on the dreams became more lucid. I started to see places I had never been to or heard voices of creatures I had never met. And every dang time that stupid Bell was there, just out of reach and ringing very creepy-like.” Cozy huffed, Tirek paused as he mulled over her words. “Hmm, this sounds eerily like how my former mentor described his visions. Blurs of strange events that became clearer over time, yet never quite made sense.” Tirek said, looking down at the filly. “Was there anything odd about where you found the Bell in that cave?” “Well, it was glowing and stuck inside the mouth of a statue of some monster? Although I didn’t bother to look at it too closely. I felt a headache when I grabbed the bell and it stopped glowing when I got out.” Cozy said, trying to remember. “Hmm, perhaps some last defense mechanism left in place by that Gusty the Great? Grogar did mention she was a somewhat powerful mage, she may have left a curse on it.” Tirek theorized. “YOU MEAN I’M CUR-!” Cozy gasped loudly before Tirek clamped her mouth shut. “Would you keep it down! Yes, you could be cursed or maybe it's just some minor spell to try and encourage you to return the bell. You haven’t displayed any life-threatening symptoms as far as I’ve seen. Just irregular dreams and nightmares trying to keep you from using the bell.” Tirek hushed as Cozy pushed his hand away. “Yeah well, what if the nightmares are just the start? What if I turn to stone or something?!” Cozy shot back. “Well then I’ll make sure to put you up on my mantle piece once I’ve conquered Equestria, you’ll get a front-row seat to my victory,” Tirek taunted. “And if this curse spreads to you? What then?” Cozy huffed. “Please no mere curse can hold me back. You on the other hand?” Tirek teased. “Why you annoying-” Cozy growled, leaping up at the centaur. Tirek grabbed her by the neck and held her like a tiny kitten chuckling at her failing attempt to attack him. Until she bit his hand. “GAH! Why you little brat!” He yelped dropping her, his magic pulsed with anger as Cozy stared him down with a glare. “I leave for five minutes and you two are already at each other’s throats!” Chrysalis interrupted as she flew back into the alley. “Knock it off the both of you! We have a situation!” She hissed, and the two stuck their noses in the air in annoyance. “They’ve increased security into the castle. This is going to be more challenging than I thought.” Chrysalis sighed, before she could explain a sudden pop got their attention. Hiding quickly they turned to see Discord and the others. “Could you not go popping us all over the place, please?!” Rainbow huffed. “Time is of the essence.” Discord said ignoring Rainbow Dash, “Let's go, team!” Discord cheered with a flash of light changing into a cheerleader outfit. “We need to know what we're doing before we go and do it.” Fluttershy cautioned. “Pinkie, you and I are givin' Braeburn and the Appleloosan ponies some adjustments to the menu.” Applejack mused, Pinkie hopped with glee as she pulled out a chef’s hat from her mane. “Fluttershy and I are meeting the Pegasi from Cloudsdale to give them changes to the weather,” Rainbow boasted, Fluttershy nodded in agreement. “Spike, we're going to update the Flaming Sky Firework Unicorn Troupe with Twilight's new vision.” Rarity said, Spike gave her a thumbs up. “And I'm supposed to…?” Discord questioned reading his card, a pair of glasses appearing on his snout. " ‘Make sure Discord doesn't do anything 'Discord-y?’ Well, that's annoyingly specific!” Discord huffed in annoyance. “Well try to enjoy the festivities instead of Discord, maybe you’ll make a new friend!” Spike suggested. “Oh, find a new pal?” Discord said with an intrigued look. “Why not? I’ve wanted to meet some new people.” After the group walked off to do their tasks, Tirek groaned in annoyance. “Increased security on a crowded holiday with Twilight and her friends bumbling around? This is impossible.” Tirek huffed, however, Chrysalis smiled as a scheme crossed her mind. “Oh, no. This is perfect. We need a distraction, and those ridiculous ponies just gave it to us. Now, do exactly as I tell you.” Chrysalis said as she laid out her plan. Somewhere above the lands of Equestria, Ember and Smolder glide through the evening sky. Passing valleys, canyons, rivers, and mountains as they head toward Canterlot. Flying for nearly two days, only taking breaks to eat and sleep. The two dragons are a bit weary from the journey, but their destination is almost in sight. “Ugh, Ember can we please take a break?” Smolder groaned. “We’re almost there, I can see the mountain from here.” Ember snapped back, she gripped the scepter tightly. Her gaze flickered between her destination and the scepter itself. It had seemed to grow warmer as time went on, one more thing to add to her growing concerns. Smolder had been annoyed most of the trip, having missed the chance to catch up with her brother and parents. But she knew the situation in the Dragon Lands was serious, and she could tell it was taking a toll on her leader. “Ember, everything will be fine! Princess Twilight is the best when it comes to these things.” Smolder said, flying closer to speak with Ember directly. “Just a few months ago she stopped that Sombra guy from taking over Equestria!” “That’s just it Smolder, I’m worried if these events are connected.” Ember sighed. “First an evil the ponies defeated returns and destroys that special tree you told me about.” “Which, me and my friends repaired and turned into the Treehouse of Harmony,” Smolder butted in, hoping to cheer her up. “Yes you did, and you did great with that,” Ember replied with a small smile. “But then I get word from Twilight that two of their other villains from Tartarus escaped.” She then held up the Bloodstone Scepter, the gem lightly glowing red as they got closer to Canterlot. “And then our home starts to go crazy and we learn this thing starts acting up for the first time in history!” She groaned, rubbing her temple in distress. Smolder placed a claw on her shoulder in reassurance. “Hey, we’re not alone in this. Thanks to you we’ve got friends who know a thing or two about magic to help us!” Smolder stated, “They helped us back during the hatching season, and they’ll help us now! Because that’s what friends do.” Ember chuckled at Smolder’s confidence. “You have been learning stuff from that Friendship School. Thank you, Smolder.” She replied, her spirit lifted a bit. They pass by a mountain and see the heart of Equestria. The last rays of sunlight glide over Ponyville. Twilight’s castle shimmered in colorful hues as the sun's rays hit the crystal exterior. Smolder smiled as she spotted Sandbar and Yona trotting to Sandbar’s home. Ember noticed Smolder’s sudden cheery demeanor, she chuckled to herself. She was happy Smolder was making new friends. Her attention was drawn toward the north, there towering over the valley was the Canterlot Mountain range. Even from a distance, the Dragon Lord could tell that the capital was booming with activity. Ember gulped as she stared at the city, “I hope our arrival doesn’t pose an issue for Twilight and the others. Hopefully, we can keep this under wraps. Hopefully.” The pale light of the moon glimmered in the night, and the beautiful craftsmanship of Luna’s decorated stars swam through the sky. One would be forgiven for not paying any mind to unnatural quiet. The creatures of the night felt a disturbance in the air, a presence that brought fear and terror into their short mortal lives. A gigantic figure glided through the clouds, pushing them back with a wave of its massive wings. Its golden slit eyes glowed ominously as they scanned the landscape searching for its prey. It growled as the scent it had been following grew stronger. Beside the beast, a glowing green mist flew close to its face, and the voice of Gusty echoed in its mind. “So we are close then? Good, the sooner we find this filly the sooner we find the bell and prevent disaster." The beast snorted in annoyance. “Oh don’t you blame me for this! Not my fault the mountain got an infestation. Besides if the bell is in the hooves of a foal then I can coax them into giving the bell away, it's the other two beings I’m wondering about." The dragon growled as his ears caught a sound. The sound of festivities, as he flew over another cloud he could see the lights of Canterlot in the distance. The dragon’s voice spoke, its voice booming in Gusty’s head. "Sahlon raak til." Gusty’s mist form seemed to trip over itself at that. “It’s coming from there? I can’t sense the bell. Are you sure?” The voice asked, and the drake glared at the mist. “Okay fine, that’s fine. I can find the foal from here.” The drake growled at that. "Tol fen kuz wah lingrah, Zu'u fen ni saraan." “No I don’t want you to tear the city apart to find the foal, I don’t want you killing any creature.” Gusty shot back, the drake huffed in annoyance. “We are the guardians of the bell, but we’re no killers.” "Boziik rot nol zoklot riil ah do diist bok. Kolosro hin kendov zii?" "This is a different age, we don’t know what has changed. But I highly doubt the inhabitants would like you destroying their city looking for one foal.” Gusty sighed, “Look let me go in first, I’ll find her, and then we’ll find the bell deal?” The dragon said nothing as he stared down at the glimmering city of Canterlot. His eyes narrowed as he noticed some storm clouds beginning to form above it. "Hi lost gein omaar, ni jazbaar zos." With that, the two split off. The scaled terror flew toward the snowy peak of Canterlot Mountain. Landing with surprising grace for a creature of his size the drake perched himself, near a cliff. Just far enough to not be seen but within earshot of the Capitol. Smaug sighed as he lay down, his flame-fueled body melting the nearby snow. A slight fog of steam filled the air, the beast chuckled at his self-made sauna. It had been so long since he had flown through the air. However, it was annoying that he had to waste his first time out of his den on important business. But it was for the Bewitching Bell, and he knew the terrors it could bring. "Neh ontzos." Author's Note Hi sorry for the wait, life got hectic for me. I hope you'll enjoy the chapter. Here's the translation for the dragon speech: I will find you, thief. You cannot hide. You cannot escape my wrath. My flame will bring you ruin. I will bring you Death. The scent leads there. That will take too long, I will not wait. Bold words from the greatest monster hunter of the first age. Where's your warrior spirit? You have one hour, not a minute more. Never again. Chapter 6: Royal Arrival and Unexpected MeetingsThe hour was growing late and Canterlot was alive with activity. Ponies were wandering about enjoying the festivities with their faithful royal guards watching diligently overall. Well, most of them anyway. “Ugh, why did we have to get guard duty tonight?” A unicorn guard groaned. “I was going to take my family to see the fireworks show, now they’ll have to go without me! And my sister will rub it in my face when I get home.” “Lighten up rookie. You’ll be able to see the fireworks from here. Besides, we have to make sure no one tries to pull a prank on anypony. You know how those noble kids can cause trouble.” A tall earth pony guard said. “We’re the same rank Buttercup! And it's not like those kids will try anything with the Harmony bearers here.” The stallion responded. “Their parents don’t want to make bad impressions with Twilight Sparkle, who will be crowned Queen before the year ends. Though I still don’t understand why Princess Celestia and Luna are stepping down.” “Probably tired of all the nobles and rich business owners' pointless ‘politics’. And what, do you doubt Twilight and her friends aren’t up to the task Ivory Spark?” Buttercup teased. “I don’t doubt them and you know that! No creature likes to deal with rich upstarts that only care about where they place their next pool.” Ivory huffed. “Still they’ve been our rulers for who knows how long. Why do they choose to leave now?” “Who knows? But it’s their choice, and they’ve got just as much right as any other pony to retire from their jobs.” Buttercup said. “Hey, how about after this shift we go to Donut Joe’s?” “Yeah, that sounds like fun-huh?” Ivory paused. “Say, do you see that? Out there in the distance?” Buttercup turned to look where Ivory was pointing. Out past the dock, a red light glowed in the night. “Hmm? Is it getting closer?” Buttercup said concerned. “Look alive, we may have unexpected company.” The red light grew closer as the two stood ready. The sound of flapping wings hit their ears as the light arrived, and the two young Dragons landed. “Ugh, finally! My wings are aching.” Smolder groaned, stretching her wings. “I hope they got some gems for us to snack on.” “Oh come on, it wasn't that bad. At least we didn’t run into any storms.” Ember said. “Dragon Lord Ember?” Buttercup said recognizing the royal dragon. “We are honored by your presence. We would have prepared an envoy for you-” “Huh yeah oh no need for that,” Ember said, cutting off the guard. “We came on short notice and require Princess Starbright Twinkle's aid.” “Twilight Sparkle.” Smolder corrected, Ivory looked to the Bloodstone Scepter with concern as it glowed with magic. “Um not to intrude your highness but what’s with the glowing rock?” He said with concern, his ears twitching. “Yeah, that’s what we came here for. We hoped she would help us figure out why it's acting up.” Ember said the Bloodstone pulsed to emphasize her statement. “It's very urgent we see her.” “Then we shall escort you to the castle,” Buttercup said. “Let's go through the alleys, tonight is the Summer Sun Celebration. The streets will be crowded and much faster if we take the backway around.” Ivory said. “We also don’t want to draw unwanted attention with your glowing scepter.” “That makes sense.” Smolder agreed. “Ponies tend to panic when something unexpected happens. Especially when it involves magical artifacts.” As they left for the palace, Ember paused and something felt…off. She gazed upward toward the towering mountain. Her grip tightened on the scepter, a chill went down her spine as she gazed toward the mountain peak. “Is everything alright your highness?” Buttercup asked, snapping Ember out of her trance. “I’m fine, I just thought I heard something.” She said, shaking her head. Discord was many things, a reality warper, a former villain, a manipulator, and a compulsive liar. “Are you going somewhere with this? Frankly, I’m beginning to feel insulted.” Discord said, staring at the author. But making new friends was something he wasn’t that good with. “Well, it's not my fault most creatures don’t meet my high standards.” Discord huffed. He lazily floated around the festival with disinterest looking for somepony interesting. Glancing at various ponies wandering about, he grew increasingly bored. “Hmm too pompous.” He said glancing at some nobles walking by looking annoyed at the commoners having fun, “Too serious.” He huffed, some guards marched on patrol, “Too old and sapphic.” He sighed spotting pair of elderly mares sitting on a bench holding hooves. Discord smirked as he snapped his fingers. A large puddle appeared before the nobles as a carriage splashed them. The guard's uniforms all suddenly started shifting in color, from Polka dots to Plaid, though they hardly noticed. And a box of chocolates with a rainbow flag floated down to the elderly couple. “What? You thought I would interrupt a lovely couple having a moment? I would never!” Discord said donning a halo, before grabbing the halo and eating it. He floated through the air continuing his search for a new ‘friend’. “Ugh, none of these ponies are the least bit interesting. Nothing but background characters to fill in space.” Discord groaned deflating onto a roof. Just as he was about to give up a tingling sensation ran through his chaotic bones. Perking up instantly he looked around. There out of the corner of his eye, a pony wandering through the streets covered in a brown hooded robe. “Now there’s my ticket! And wrapped up all for me.” He grinned before teleporting away. Gusty descended upon the city with quick haste. Finding a nearby alley, she transformed into the form of a smaller version of herself. The six gems she had formed into colorful hair pins in her mane. She glanced about seeing the festivities going on. “Okay looks like nobody saw me, they’re all busy having fun. Hopefully, I can keep it that way.” Conjuring a cloak she trotted through the streets. She glanced about, noticing all the differing ponies wandering about. A smile crept on her face. “I’m so glad the tribes could put aside their differences. Although I question their design choices.” She thought, glancing up at the giant spinning fans. “They are a bit out of place aren’t they?” A voice spoke up. She jumped at the voice. Turning around she found a unicorn standing beside her with a bucket of popcorn. His coat was a mix of gray and brown, sporting a black mane and tail. His cutie mark was a twister. His eyes for a moment seemed to be yellow and red, but after she blinked they appeared regular black and white pupils. “Uh yes, they are,” Gusty said, trying not to seem suspicious. “They were only installed recently, though honestly, they do little in forms of defense.” the stallion said, taking a bite out of his popcorn. “Would you like some?” He offered levitating the bucket over to her. “No thanks, I'm good.” She declined, she noted the odd coloration of his horn. Rather than matching his coat, it was colored Periwinkle. She decided not to stare out of rudeness. “What do you mean defense?” “Not from around here huh?” He chuckled. “Well, then you’re lucky you weren’t around when the attack happened a few weeks back.” “Attack?!” Gusty said, shocked. “Yeah, some dark magic-using uptight ‘king’ attacked the city with an army of mind-controlled ponies. Took over the city and added the citizens to his brainwashed horde.” The stallion said casually. “Used Dark magic to take over, lucky Twilight Sparkle and her friends along with the devilishly handsome lord of chaos saved the day.” “A tyrant with black magic attacked this city and everyone is celebrating?” “Oh yeah, this happens about once or twice a season. The only difference being the royal sisters finally decided to beef up security.” the stallion said. “Wait, did you say black magic? What’s that?” “Huh? Oh sorry, I guess I misheard you.” Gusty corrected. “Well as long as everyone is okay.” “Yep, so come on let's celebrate. I can show you all the fun attractions! The names Mix Up by the way!” The stallion said cheerfully. “Oh no I wouldn’t want to impose, I’m looking for some-woah!” Gusty said as the stallion dragged her along with his magic. “Nonsense, besides it's a night to party! I bet you’ll run into them on the way!” Mix Up laughed. “I suppose he’s right, what better place to find a foal than at a celebration? I can also give Mr. Cheery here the slip in the crowd.” She thought as she started to trot alongside him after he released her. ‘Mix Up’ gave her a grin as the two entered the festival. “Ooh I don’t know why but this one’s got my chaos senses excited. Tonight won’t be so boring after all.” Cozy wandered around the fair doing her best to avoid the guards. While the ponies in Ponyville knew about her past actions, the upper class of Canterlot didn’t bat an eye at another wandering foal ‘enjoying’ the fair. “Guess the princesses didn’t bother to inform anypony about who almost made all of the magic in the world disappear. I don’t know if I should be happy or insulted.” Cozy thought as she trotted through the fair. She watched various ponies hang about and party. A small part of her wanted to join in with the fun, she paused as she watched a couple and their daughter having fun at a nearby party game stall. The father managed to knock down some set-up bottles. A stuffed toy was given to the filly who cheered in joy, the mother kissed the father as a thank you. A feeling of longing crept through her, but Cozy quickly dismissed the feeling. “No time for that. Need to stay focused the sooner we get into the castle, the sooner we can find something about the bell.” She thought. “And hopefully figure out if it did curse me or not, dangit Tirek! Why’d you have to put that idea in my head?” Shaking her head Cozy continued on her walk. “Now what can I do to cause a ruckus to draw attention away from the guards?” “THE PRINCESS WANTS WHAT?!” A voice shouted out. “Bingo.” Cozy flew toward the source of the distressed voice. Hiding in a bush she watched Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy talk to a distressed stallion. Cozy noted all of the nearby boxes and barrels full of weather clouds. Those could be useful. “Just what's on that little card. No big deal.” Rainbow said. “No big d-d—?! I-I-It's a m-much more aggressive weather pattern than what was originally ordered! This... This is... very irregular! We'll need to... No, first we must... Wait! We ca-” The stallion said, beginning to hyperventilate. “Take a breath. Let it out slowly.” Fluttershy said, calming him down. “Tell the princess we will do our best.” The stallion sighed. “We're sure you're doing an excellent job,” Fluttershy reassured. “Oh, yeah, totally. You're not gonna panic and screw it up at all!” Rainbow joked trying to help. Cozy rolled her eyes at her former teacher, typical oblivious Dash. Never could read the room. The two left and once they were out of sight the stallion began to break down again. “I... I... I'm not built for high-pressure situations!” That was her cue, putting on her cutesy demeanor Cozy walked toward the stressed pony. “Golly. Sounds like you need some help.” She said, “Who are you?” The stallion questioned. “Somepony who's organized enough to handle the small stuff so you can focus on the big picture!” Cozy said. “The big... Yes! That sounds right!” The stallion said, starting to cheer up. “This kind of weather has to be handled delicately. Good thing I'm here.” Cozy said as she pretended to look at the cards. “I'll take care of everything.” “Oh thank you so much! I won’t forget this!” He said before walking away gathering the other weather ponies away. Once he was gone Cozy dropped the cheery act, she tossed the card and turned to the various weather barrels. “Heh, this is gonna be fun.” A short time later…. The elements had regrouped back at the castle, reporting to Twilight of their completed errands. “It's all coming together. I think this is gonna be the best Summer Sun Celebration ever!” Twilight said happily. “You've done an outstanding job.” Rarity replied. “We've all done an outstanding job, although I was wondering where Discord went off too,” Twilight asked. “Haven’t seen him for a while Twi, last we saw he was off to ‘find a new friend’ at Spike’s suggestion,” Rainbow said. “Hopefully he doesn’t bother nopony too much.” “I’m actually glad you suggested that Spike, I’ve been hoping for Discord to find more friends. I know he doesn’t always like to spend time at my tea parties.” Fluttershy said. “That’s literally all he talks about before we have our Oubliettes & Ogres sessions, Fluttershy,” Spike replied. “He loves your tea parties.” “I’m not saying he doesn’t! But I know it would do him good to meet someone who shares his more chaotic interests as well.” Fluttershy said. “Well as long as he doesn’t bring that Smooze fellow back here, I do not want that slime anywhere near my mane again.” Rarity said. “Discord promised to give us a proper warning next time he wants to bring any of his more ‘unusual’ friends to Canterlot,” Luna interjected. The group turned to see the princesses enter the room. “Not to interrupt Twilight, we had hoped to help you practice using the amulet to raise the sun and moon before the main event, but something has come up,” Celestia said. “What’s wrong Princess?” Twilight asked. “It appears we have some guests that need your attention. Dragon Lord Ember and young Smolder have arrived in need of aid.” Luna explained. “Something appears to be happening in the Dragon Lands and it's affecting the Bloodstone Scepter.” “Oh my, I hope it's nothing too serious.” Rarity said. “We don’t know the extent of the issue, but Lord Ember says it's urgent,” Celestia said. “Well, I better come too. I gave the scepter to Ember, maybe there’s something I can do.” Spike said. “Good idea Spike. Alright girls, we’ll be a bit, but enjoy the festival in the meantime. We’ll sort this out in no time.” Twilight said confidently. The four left the group as they thought amongst themselves. “I sure am proud o' her,” Applejack said. “While the dragon visit was unexpected, she’s taking everything else in strides.” “Yeah! I didn’t see her freak out in the slightest!” Pinkie said. “Still I hope everything goes well, maybe once they are finished Smolder and Ember can join us in the festivities.” Rarity said, Dash however didn’t seem so sure. “I dunno, I’m getting a strange feeling and not the funny kind,” Rainbow said. “Dashie, let's leave the funny feelings to the professionals,” Pinkie said, honking a clown nose. Suddenly at the other end of the hall, a guard burst through looking worse for wear. “We have a situation!” “You had to say something.” Applejack sighed. Author's Note Hello! So sorry for the wait! College has not been kind to me, but I'm almost done! Wohoo! Chapter 7: Chaos in the streets and a Castle breached“You sure they’re coming?” Smolder asked. “Yes, they’ll be here soon,” Ivory said. “Well I hope they hurry for Ember’s sake,” Smolder said looking at her Dragon Lord. Ember was pacing back and forth in the throne room, holding the scepter tight. It started to emit a soft glow not too long after they arrived at the castle. “Come on, just tell me what's wrong?” Ember groaned, staring at the Bloodstone gem. “Why is she talking to the scepter?” Buttercup asked quietly. “I mean it responded to us back in the dragon lands? Don’t know why it’s shut up now.” Smolder shrugged. “Does it normally talk back?” Buttercup questioned. “Not until a few days ago, hence why we need Professor Twilight,” Smolder replied. As if on cue the door opened as the four stepped inside. “Ahh finally!” Ember said with annoyance. “It’s rude to keep the Dragon Lord waiting.” “Apologies Lord Ember, we were not expecting your arrival,” Twilight said with a bow, Spike walked forward and greeted his fellow dragons. “Ember, Smolder is everything alright?” Spike asked. “No everything is not alright Spike!” Ember said, huffing out smoke from her nostrils. “The dragon lands is on the verge of total chaos!” “Non-stop eruptions, earthquakes, lava floods, you name it,” Smolder explained. “And then there’s the Bloodstone Scepter.” “For days it would respond to any of my commands, then out of the blue it starts showing off powers it never had before!” Ember groaned. “Powers like what?” Luna asked worriedly, Ember held up the scepter showing off its strange glow. “Come on please cooperate?” She asked nicely to the confusion of the others, save Smolder. Suddenly the scepter trembled and the fire from nearby torch lights flew towards it. It erupted in flames as a massive fiery dragon claw appeared above them. “That’s a lot bigger than before.” Smolder gulped. The claw waved toward them in a greeting fashion. “Fascinating! Pyrokinetic magic! But I thought that was only possible with a select few unicorns and the Kiren!” Twilight said in awe. “This is way cooler than my magic fire messaging breath!” Spike said. “I’ve also dabbled in fire magic but never have I seen something like this,” Celestia said cautiously. “Now you see why we came here. Ugh, not even my dad knew about this! Can you…I dunno fix it?” Ember pleaded. The flaming hand ‘gasped’ in alarm and gave a thumbs down at that request. “Magical artifacts are very delicate things, especially when they're as old as this scepter,” Celestia said. “If we were to try and change its properties without knowing how it was made or how it works it would be extremely dangerous.” “Well, we need to do something! I can’t control the other dragons as it is right now, and if they get rowdy by what’s going on in the dragon lands I won’t be able to stop them from rampaging.” Ember groaned. “Come on, the dragons aren’t that bad right? Haven’t you been taking steps to make them more friendly Ember?” Spike asked. “Did you forget about the story of Dragon Lord Scales I told you about?” Smolder asked, crossing her arms. “While Ember and I aren’t as cutthroat, many older dragons still are.” “Oh right,” Spike says. “Um, well since the scepter, or more accurately the Bloodstone Gem is sentient, have you asked if it's connected to what’s been going on?” Twilight suggested. “Huh, this is the second time I’ve run into a ‘sentient’ magical item. I wonder how many others are out there?” Smolder piped in. “What pray tell was the first?” Luna asked. “The Tree of Harmony, me and my friends were tested and summoned to rebuild the tree into a treehouse.” Smolder shrugged. Celestia and Luna's mouths went agape and gave Twilight and Spike confused looks. “Hey in our defense, we know as much as they do,” Spike said. “Can we focus?!” Ember shouted, meanwhile Ivory and Buttercup stood awkwardly in the background. “Is…is this what normally happens when the princesses deal with something major that occurs?” Buttercup whispered. “I don’t know, but if it is then I see why they want to retire,” Ivory whispered back. “Look, the scepter already told us that while what’s happening is connected to its… ‘awakening’. It is not the direct cause of what’s happening in the dragon lands. We came here to get it to work like it normally did so I can get the dragons under control.” Ember sighed. “Once I can make sure my people don’t go rampaging in a panic then I can figure out what’s going on.” “Hmm, when did you say this started happening?” Luna asked. “A few weeks ago, why?” Ember asked. Luna didn’t answer as she thought for a moment. “Sister, do you have an idea?” Celestia asked. “I have a theory at best.” Luna clarified. “The dragon lands began to get out of hoof not long after King Sombra returned, and it was shortly after that we discovered Tirek and Cozy Glow escaped Tartarus. There might be a connection there.” “Hey weren’t you thinking the same thing on the way over here?” Smolder said, Ember nodded. “But there have been no sightings of your missing inmates anywhere near our borders,” Ember stated. “Still we cannot rule out the possibility of their involvement,” Luna said. “Anything is possible.” “Have you asked if there’s a way to fix it?” Spike suggested. “It seems to be up to answering questions, even if in a vague nonverbal manner.” Ember paused for a moment before looking at the giant fire claw. “Um, what he said?” The claw shifted and folded, making it look almost like a face in compilation, well, one made of dragon talons. It snapped its fingers as if an idea came to mind. It pointed a finger toward the wall and a stream of fire shot out from the fingertip hitting the far side throne room wall, right above the guard's heads. “Hey, watch it! We don’t want to become dragon flambé!” Ivory called out. “And we just finished repairing this place after the attack too.” Buttercup groaned. “Wait, look! It’s writing something on the wall!” Smolder pointed out. The flames began to burn in symbols onto the wall….albeit slowly. “This may take a second, guards, can you retrieve some fire extinguishers please?” Twilight asked. Elsewhere… “Best road trip ever!” Cozy cackled as the trio looked over their work. The sky was filled with storm clouds. Rain, snow, hail, powerful winds, and crackling thunder kept Pegasi in disarray. On the street various earth ponies laid collapsed on the ground, seemingly drained. Unicorn performers refuse to waste their potential on a fireworks display. Guards were doing their best to protect ponies, but there were too many things happening all at once. “This trip has become most entertaining.” Chrysalis grinned. “Now while they’re all distracted, we head for the castle,” Tirek said, cracking his knuckles. The group silently snuck away as the chaos unfolded. “Honestly it's pathetic how easily these ponies fall apart when something goes wrong,” Chrysalis said. “How do you think I was able to take over the Friendship school so quickly? They’ll fall in line if they believe it will keep them safe.” Cozy said. “Well, at least their magic serves as a good pick me up,” Tirek added admiring his larger form. “Although I wish it tasted as good as their desserts. I even hesitated for a moment to drain a baker of his magic after I took a bite of his apple carrot cake.” “Well don’t gorge up too much, we can’t sneak around with you as a giant,” Chrysalis warned. As they snuck through the city, Cozy paused for a moment. She turned to look at a nearby festival tent. She felt something, a familiar presence. “Cozy don’t lag behind!” Tirek called out. Cozy shook her head and noticed they were far ahead of her. Running after them she didn’t notice a pair of ponies step out from the tent. “That game was rigged.” Gusty huffed. Mix-up followed after her with a large stuffed animal on his back. “Or maybe you're just not cut out for ring toss.” Mix up laughed. “How was I supposed to know that the poles would move?!” Gusty said, “Well blasting a hole through the tent didn’t really help, did it?” Mix Up teased. “I-you?!” Gusty choked as her face went red with embarrassment. “Fine, you’re right. But I was mad, okay?! I wanted a prize too.” She pouted. “Well, maybe you can win one at the next booth if you don’t burn it down. Oh, maybe I could get a hat for my new friend here!” Mix Up said. “What like a top hat?” “I was thinking of a fedora actu-” Mix Up was interrupted as a bolt of lightning struck him. “Mix Up!” Gusty gasped in terror. Mix Up’s mane and tail stuck out with static running through them, his fur burnt black from the bolt, he let out a gasp of surprise as steam exited his mouth. “I’d make an electric pun but I’m worried my platypus is singed.” Mix Up said, as he shook off the soot. “Hang on, I know a healing spell, hold still,” Gusty said. “Oh, I’m fine, not the first time I’ve been struck by lightning.” Mix up said as he looked over his plush. “Although that lightning bolt came out of nowhere, what's going on with the weather?” The pair finally noticed the weather going nuts all around them. Down the street, a stall had been covered in snow, while hurricane winds had blown over another. Ponies were running around panicking. “I guess the weather ponies wanted to try something new?” Mix Up joked. “Somepony needs to do something!” Clover said, running into the storm. Her horn ignited with magic, moving debris out of the way of evacuation routes, dousing fires, and picking up any pony that had fallen. “Oh, I’m sure the royal guard has it under con-*snirk* okay sorry I can’t say that with a straight face.” Mix Up laughed, glancing back to his companion. “Alright time to play hero.” Horn ignited as he casually began to help. The two worked in tandem helping anypony they came across. Putting out fires, raising shields against random lightning bolts, guiding ponies to shelter. “Mix Up! I need your help over here!” Gusty said, carrying several earth ponies with her magic. “Something is wrong with these ponies! They’ve lost their strength and can barely move!” Mix Up paused as he gave the earth ponies a once over. “Well, that’s not right.” He said in a serious tone. “There are more nearby, please look after them! I’m going to go look to see if there’s any more in a similar state!” Gusty said with determination and running off. “Wait, I don't think we should spli-and she’s gone. Quite a brave pony isn’t she?” Mix up thought to himself. Once she was out of sight Discord shed his disguise as he gathered the weakened earth ponies. Snapping his finger he summoned multiple flying stretchers to place the ponies on. Donning a doctor's outfit he looked them over with a large magnifying glass and stethoscope. “Hmm peculiar.” “Discord!!” Fluttershy’s voice shouted out, snapping his head back he smiled seeing his pegasi friend and company. “Fluttershy! There you are my dear, I hope the weather hasn’t put a damper on the festivities!” “Discord, what's going on? One minute everything was fine and-” “And everything descended into chaos. Yes, yes I know, and before any of you ask I had absolutely nothing to do with it.” Discord said looking at the others. “I’m in the middle of assisting my new friend trying to help all these poor ponies.” He said placing an ice pack on one of the weakened earth ponies. “Well if you didn’t do it then who- wait, new friend?” Rainbow paused mid-sentence. “Yes, she’s quite a spirited one. Although I never caught her name, I was using my pony disguise to appear more approachable.” Discord said, pulling out a mask of his pony self from his ear. “She just ran off to see if there were more ponies like this around that needed aid.” He said gesturing to the sickly earth ponies. “We got the gist from Braeburn, something’s gone wrong with the food. Several ponies have collapsed around the city.” Applejack said as she went over to the earth ponies. “Some bug or something maybe?” “Hmm, I suppose that would make sense.” Discord shrugged. “Although I have a feeling that isn’t the real reason.” He thought. “Whatever the case, thank you for helping out. We’ll do what we can from here.” Rarity said. Discord nodded, teleporting them to a makeshift hospital where ponies had been gathering for safety. “Say, why isn’t Twilight helping you?” Discord asked. “She’s busy helping Ember and Smolder. The dragons got their own pickle to deal with!” Pinkie said. “Well, I suppose you girls can handle things from here. I’ll go inform the royals of what's going on.” Discord said. “Please keep an eye out for my new friend, she’s a unicorn wearing a brown cloak. With a colorful arrangement of hairpins in her mane. She’ll probably be helping somepony!” Meanwhile Gusty ran as quickly as she could through the streets doing her best to aid anyone she found. “This must be the work of those three from the mountain! Did they catch wind of us tailing them and create this mess as a distraction? I better find them quickly before Big Red up there gets impatient. A pissed-off dragon would only add to the mess down here. I shouldn’t have let Mix Up distract me!” Gusty thought as she raced through the city. Suddenly a mini twister descended from the storm before she could react she was picked up by the powerful winds and flung across the city. Bracing herself she transformed back into her mist form just before she hit the ground. Reforming herself she groaned as her head spun. “Ugh, that thing came out of nowhere.” Picking herself up she looked where she landed. “I’m at the castle? Well, at least I wasn’t thrown off the mountain.” As she wandered around she heard a loud thud. Following the sound she found a guard lying on the ground unconscious next to an open door. She checked the guard out making sure he was alright. Gusty dragged the guard inside the castle for safety, as she set him down she heard something from down the hall. “Honestly, even with the extra security, those guards are still pathetic.” A shrill voice echoed. “A thousand years of peace will do that to an army.” Another deeper voice said. “Will you two keep it down? We’re trying to avoid being caught by the princesses!” A higher-pitched voice said to the other two. Steeling herself she snuck further down the hallway. Staying out of sight but within earshot of the trio. As Gusty followed she noted how many of the halls were empty, save for a few geese. She figured they fled inside to escape the storm, and the guards were out in the city to help with the civilians. Gusty followed the trio throughout the castle, past kitchens, several rooms, and dozens of hallways, none of which she bothered to pay attention to. Although she did stop to admire a hall of glass murals, showing off various events of history. She was taken aback by how much she had missed since her self-imposed disappearance. She saw several murals, a strange mismatched creature causing strife only to be bested twice by two alicorns and a group of six ponies. The two alicorns turn on each other, with the darker one facing the same six ponies as before. A shapeshifter queen’s attempts to conquer the land and her people’s rebellion. A unicorn king, destroyed by a crystal heart. A gigantic red centaur fighting the six ponies again, this time one of them being an alicorn. A pony is freed from a shadow by a group of heroes with a familiar-looking unicorn. An invasion by a yeti wielding a magic staff was stopped once again by the same six ponies. Then a mural of a small filly stealing all the magic in the world and being sent to some dark prison. Gusty gazed closely toward another mural depicting six magical gems. They seemed similar to the gems she wore. Her train of thought was interrupted as the sound of footsteps drew near. Shifting into her mist form she hid in the shadows as the three she had been trailing walked past her. “Grah! This blasted castle is a maze! Where could they be hiding those archives?!” Chrysalis hissed. “Didn’t your old hive work like a living maze? Always changing and shifting?” Cozy asked. “There was a method to my hive! This place seems like a poorly pieced-together children’s dollhouse! I swear I thought I saw three unfinished rooms!” “To be fair, this place has been attacked quite a bit within the last few years,” Tirek said. “You mean by us?” Cozy snarked which got a chuckle out of the other two. Once they were gone Gusty reformed herself. “Those three are the ones that stole the bell? This is worse than I thought, they know what they’re doing! If they find some way to master the bell then disaster will befall us all. Perhaps I should alert Smaug. I may need him if these three decide to try anything else.” Gusty thought igniting her horn only for it to sizzle as her spell failed. “What?! Why isn’t my teleportation magic working? The castle must have an anti-teleport ward on it.” “Get back!” Hissed Chrysalis suddenly. “I can hear the Princesses in the throne room and they aren’t alone!” She warned the others the trio backed up, nearly turning the corner on Gusty. Hiding quickly she hid behind a nearby pillar. “Of all the blasted times for them to be in the castle!” Tirek huffed. “Whatever it doesn’t matter, this isn’t the way to the archives. I told you we should’ve gone the other way!” Cozy groaned in frustration, the trio turned and headed toward another hallway. Poking out from her hiding spot Gusty turned toward the throne room door. “Should I inform the royalty? No, the more creatures that get involved with this the worse it’ll be.” Gusty thought before following the others. She paused for a moment as something caught her attention. “Am I imagining things or do I smell smoke?” As she took off after the trio, the throne room door burst open filling the hallway with smoke. Twilight and Spike stepped out of the fog of ash coughing. “Why didn’t we open a window?!” Spike coughed, the duo was followed shortly by the guards, royal sisters, and other dragons. “In hindsight, we were focused on what the scepter was writing.” Twilight gasped, her horn lit up as several windows in the hallway opened up with magic. As the crowd gathered out Celestia and Luna fanned their wings to push the smoke out to the windows. “Having a barbeque in the throne room? And you didn’t invite me?” Discord said floating down to them with a vacuum cleaner. He turned it on, sucking up the last of the smoke from the room. “Um who or what is that?” Ember asked at the sight of the draconequus. “Oh right, you haven’t met. That is Discord, he’s a magical prankster who once took over Equestria. Now he helps some of the professors with their classes. Although it usually ends with us covered in some kind of food or confetti.” Smoulder explained. “Delighted to make your acquaintance your dragon lordship,” Discord said with a bow suddenly dressed in old medieval nobility clothes. “Um, nice to meet you?” She said hesitantly. “Discord we are in the middle of important business, what is it that you need?” Celestia asked. “Well, while you all were helping our scaly friends here, Canterlot has been hit by some major bad weather.” He said, pulling out a pointer and a weather map of the city. “You know, some hurricane-level winds, torrential rain and snow, lightning striking every five minutes.” As if on cue a loud boom of thunder shook the castle. “Along with several ponies collapsing from food poisoning and a race war brewing amongst some unicorns.” “WHAT?!” The royals said in shock. They ran to a nearby window seeing the chaos unfold. “How did this happen?!” Luna demanded. “Don’t look at me, I made sure to follow Twilight’s instructions to the letter!” Discord replied, pulling out Twilight’s little note card. “I even made a friend, who is probably out there helping ponies get to safety. Such a caring soul.” “Well, clearly something went wro- wait you made a friend?” Spike said caught off guard. “Why is that such a hard thing to believe?” Discord retorted. “Let's focus, we need to get out there and help everypony!” Twilight said. “But what about the message from the staff?” Smoulder asked, reminding them of their previous task. “I’m sorry Lord Ember, but we must see to our ponies. We will be of no help if our city falls apart around us.” Celestia said, turning to the Dragon Lord. “No, go protect your ponies. This can wait, I believe the staff is done writing anyway.” Ember said, flying back to the throne room. Just as she entered the flaming claw stopped its writing and retreated into the Bloodstone. “Gah! It's written in the ancient tongue! This will take too long to translate!” Ember groaned. “Why? Didn’t your dad teach you how to read the old tongue?” Smolder asked. “I skipped a few of my father’s lessons to do some combat training when I was younger,” Ember admitted embarrassed. “Do you know any?” “No, I was shipped off to the Friendship school before I could learn any.” Smoulder shrugged. “I’ll be sure to add some native language classes to the school for next semester,” Twilight said. “Well, what now?” Spike asked. “Allow me,” Discord said, snapping his fingers. A piece of paper appeared in his paw, and he proceeded to suck up the words from the wall like a vacuum. As if he was gargling water he spat out the words back onto the parchment. “Here you are!” He said, shaking off the spit from the parchment. Ember gagged as she grasped the paper carefully. “Oh that will be 200 bits,” he said to the guard ponies. “What for?” Ivory asked. “For cleaning your wall of course!” He teased as he pointed over to another version of himself cleaning up the burn marks off the wall. “All sparkly clean!” Twilight walked over to Ember and looked down at the parchment in confusion. “Um, Discord this is still in ancient Draconic?” Twilight said. “Well that's odd, I thought I translated it?” He said, pulling out his tongue where several hundred tiny discords were working away at typewriters. They looked up and shrugged, one pulled up a sign asking for more of Fluttershy’s tea biscuits. He let it go, rolling it back in like a tape measure. “Let's worry about that later, we have a city to save!” Luna said boldly. The others nodded before rushing out of the castle. In the Canterlot archives. “Find anything?” Tirek asked as he looked through a bookshelf. “No!” His cohorts replied. Chrysalis had combed through several tomes tossing them aside like trash. Cozy was flying through the maze of books and scrolls. She grew increasingly frustrated as she tossed aside Chancellor Puddinghead’s secret recipe book. “This place is a mess! At least Twilight Sparkle kept her library in order! Did the princesses not hire any archivists to organize this place?” She grumbled. Another boom of thunder shook the castle, causing a pile of books to fall off the shelf and onto Cozy. “Gah! Ow! Sonofa-!” She cursed as several books bounced off her head and buried her beneath them. Grumbling feeling a lump form on her head she pulled herself from the pile. She caught the last falling book before it could nail her in the face. Looking at the annoying tome titled, Famous Keys and Who Used Them, “I swear if we don’t find something I’m gonna burn down this whole library!” She huffed, her fur suddenly stood on end as a chill bit at her body. The sounds of her cohorts’ grumblings were drowned out by the sound of the rumbling thunder outside. Slowly she stood up and as if in a trance she began to trot past the row of books. Her vision began to darken as she wandered through the archives. Her heartbeat quickened as her body moved on its own. A barely audible sound passed through her ears. “Urzûk...dâk ghashûk…” Cozy could see nothing, her vision stolen from her, she wandered blindly through the dark. Fear filled her body fighting to regain control. But something forced her onward. “Shakûk....ghashnakh...lûk ghashûk kûrz.” A distant light began to shine in the void. A familiar teal glow. As she drew closer the source of the light became clear. The Bewitching Bell floated in the dark, calling to her. Growing brighter as she drew near. “Na… dâk kûr ghashûk…” Cozy reached out her hoof, inching closer. *BOOM* Cozy was snapped from her trance as the sound of thunder and shattering glass filled the archives. She looked up and saw a ceiling window had been smashed in by the force of dangerous winds outside. Shaking her head she took a step back and checked her surroundings, she was in another part of the archives. She noticed she had also brought with her the tome she had previously looked at. “How did I?” Her thoughts were interrupted by the shouts of her companions. “What was that?!” Chrysalis shouted out from far away. “Tirek did you break something?” “How dare you! I did no such thing! The storm broke a window, not me!” The centaur snapped back. “Cozy? What’s your status? We need to hurry!” “I...I'm fine, Tirek! Still looking!” Cozy responded, shaking her head. She turned back around to see a pedestal hidden away in a corner, covered by a sheet. The wind from the broken window made it flap about. Walking towards it she lifted the sheet to see a glass case, and inside it a very old black book covered in chains. “Is this?” She muttered to herself. Lifting off the glass case she looked at the chained book. Thinking quickly she gave the chains a few smacks with the book she brought with her. They gave way and she grabbed the ancient tome. Opening it she saw bizarre and old text. But what drew her attention was an illustration. An illustration of The Bewitching Bell. “I found it!” “Where did they go?!” Gusty thought to herself as she ran through the halls. “They turned a corner and vanished!” She had looked through dozens of rooms and gone through several halls and found no trace of the trio. “I’m running out of time! If the storm gets worse it’ll draw his attention and that’ll bring a whole other set of problems!” As if on cue a loud thunderous boom shook the castle making her trip. “Okay, I need to find them now!” Gusty said steeling her resolve. Her horn ignited as she transformed back into her mist form. With great speed she zoomed through the corridors, not caring if any creature saw her. Scanning left and right with her magic she blitzed through room after room until finally, she sensed the presence of the trio behind a far-off door. “There! I found them!” Gusty zoomed over to the door however, something made her pause. She turned and looked at a nearby wall….with a map of the interior of the castle. “Oh come on!” She groaned glaring at the offending map. Transforming back into her original form, quietly she slipped through the door and into the archives. With quick and silent haste she slipped to and fro around the maze of books. She paused as she heard a voice. “Took you long enough!” A deep voice boomed from below. Peaking over a balcony Gusty saw the trio huddled around a table. “Finally we have what we came for, now let's go before we get caught!” Chrysalis said. “Yeah, I don’t want to get thrown back into Tartarus!” Cozy huffed. “Now wait just a minute, I need to confirm this is the real deal. We could be looking at a fake.” Tirek said flipping through the book. “What’s there to think? It’s a blasted ancient book that was wrapped up in chains!” Cozy replied. “There are several ancient forbidden books in this library. I had gone through six others before you made your bold claim.” Tirek said. “If this really is Grogar’s book I need to confirm it.” “And how will you do that?” Cozy asked. “In my past, I’ve managed to find scraps of writing written by the former Emperor of Equestria. I learned that every authentic piece of his work has a signature of his hidden within the text. If this is legit then I’ll find it.” Tirek explained. “Well hurry up, I refuse to get my wings torn off by those gale-force winds outside,” Chrysalis growled. “Seriously child, did you have to make such a powerful storm?” “Hey, it's not my fault those morons left all those weather factory shipments together. I’m pretty sure somepony could’ve sneezed on them and caused this. What kind of festival needs twelve barrels of bottled twisters, six boxes of blizzards, two dozen bottles of lightning, and three tankers of hurricane fuel!” Cozy retorted. “.....Point taken,” Chrysalis said taken aback by that. Gusty nodded her head in agreement with the queen’s response. “Okay, what is up with ponies in this millennium? Ugh regardless no matter how extensive this archive is there’s no way this place has Grogar’s Tome of Spells.” Gusty thought. “I saw fit to have my protege toss that thing into the deepest darkest pit he could find! There’s no way any creature could’ve found-” “Here it is! Grogar’s signature!” Tirek said pointing to a certain page. “This is his Tome of Spells!” “DAMN IT STARSWIRL!!!” Gusty shouted in annoyance. …. …. …. …. “I said that out loud didn't I?” She muttered. Looking down she saw the three villains staring right back up to her. “Seize her!” Chrysalis shouted, buzzing into action. She flew straight toward Gusty, her horn aimed straight for the unicorn’s neck. With graceful movement, Gusty dodged the queen’s attack and leaped down toward a nearby bookshelf. Tirek shot a blast of magic toward her as she landed. She raised her right foreleg, and her pink gem bracelet lit up as a portal appeared in front of the blast. A second portal opened behind Tirek and his attack hit him in the back. He dropped to the floor with a thud, dropping the book. “Clever! But not clever enough!” Chrysalis said, leaping down and transforming into a manticore. Gusty turned, raising her left foreleg as her yellow gem bracelet conjured a yellow bubble shield around herself. Chrysalis slammed into the shield with her increased mass sending the two tumbling off the bookshelf. Gusty expertly rolled across the floor, getting back on her hooves. Raising her hoof the shield became a wall between her and Chrysalis as the queen stabbed at it with her stinger tail. She ran toward the book only to have her back leg grabbed by Tirek. “No, you don’t!” He lifted her up and slammed her against the bookshelf. Tirek turned toward his young cohort. “Cozy! Grab the book and go! We’ll be right behind you!” He said as he slammed the mare repeatedly against the bookshelves. Nodding Cozy grabbed the black book and flew off in the other direction. Pulling the mare close, Tirek looked at the bruised mare in his grasp. “I don’t know who you are, but you won’t be spying on us anymore!” He chuckled as he opened his mouth preparing to drain her of her magic. Suddenly the orange gem bracelet on her left back leg lit up. Gusty looked at him with a glare as she grabbed him by his horns and pulled with incredible strength. Suplexing the large centaur over her and onto the ground with a crack! Landing on his back as he groaned in pain she looked over to where Cozy had darted off too. Before she could give chase Chrysalis tackled her, pinning her to the ground, the shield having deactivated. “Now I’ve got you!” Chrysalis growled preparing to bite Gusty’s head off. Once again another gem lit up, this time the purple gem necklace shined as purple electricity shot out of it. Shocking Chrysalis back into her original form and sending her flying into Tirek as he was getting back up. Sighing, Gusty turned back toward where Cozy had fled. The blue bracelet on her back right leg lit up. Cozy huffed as she buzzed through the halls trying to find an exit. “Who was that? I’ve never seen her around the castle before! She’s not a royal guard, and what were those gems she wore? Ugh, questions for later, first find a way out then regroup with the others!” Cozy thought as her wings beat faster. "Ghash." “Huh?” Cozy said, pausing and looking around. Before she could question her body was already moving into a nearby room. Suddenly a green blur zipped by with great speed. “What the?!” Cozy shook her head as she found herself in the throne room. "Lugburz krimpûl. Ghâsh shakhûk. Durbatulûk." “Shut up!” Cozy groaned as she clutched her head, the room felt like it was spinning. Dropping the book she gasped beginning to hyperventilate. Her vision began to darken. "Ghashûk. Zâgûl. Mâkûl ghâshûk. Gûlûk shâdû." “Stop!” She cried tears running down her cheeks. "U ghashûk." “Please!” "Ghashûk." Suddenly a familiar ringing filled Cozy’s ears. She turned, and there in the dark, the Bewitching Bell hovered. Her eyes dulled and she ceased her struggles, like a moth to a flame she walked to the bell. It pulsed with power, ringing out in the void, illuminating the ground below it. The black tome lay below it. Cozy looked down at the book and she reached out, flipping it open. As if by fate, she opened the page she needed. The writing was foreign and old, very old. A sketch of a fearsome creature was below the text. "Lûk." Cozy spoke the spell. “Dûmpûl ghâsh, I gûlûk zâg. Burzum-ishi, mûkûl kûl ghâshûk. Sûk ghâsh-” “STOP!” Gusty shouted, pulling away Cozy from the tome. “What did you do-” Gusty gasped, Cozy’s pupils were gone. “Young filly! Snap out of it!” Cozy’s eyes began to glow red as a wicked grin swept across her face. She began to laugh at the older mare. Her laughter distorted as Cozy’s voice was replaced with another. Gusty’s eyes shrunk in terror. “You’ve failed, M̴̺̗̳̰̭̋̃́̀̓̏̆̆̀͂ͅy̴̜͔͙͕̖͍̯͕͖̾͊̿̿͘̚ͅ ̸̢͔̽̍̀̒̏̋Ĺ̷͚́̈́͋͂̀̀̚̕ì̸͕̟̓͊̈́̈́̋̓̕͘͝t̷̞͍͍̰̮̑͗͘t̷͚͈̯̘̣̝̑l̷̪͍̓̑͋̿e̴̲̝̼͖̰̘̞̋̈́ ̵̢̙̘̹͓̜̘͗̽̓̈́̌̍̆P̴̢̣̦̥̹̜͉͇̏̅̿̉̂ơ̵̧̗͓͕̪͔̎̔̉̿̽̈́͝n̸̝̤͚̫̻͖̻͍̘̘͑ỳ̵̜̅͋̊̚͘!” Grogar’s voice boomed from the foal's mouth. Gusty turned to see the tome light up blinding them both. Outside “Okay, I think we’ve found the last of the sick ponies over here!” Rarity said, placing a blanket on a nearby pony. The makeshift hospital had become extremely crowded as more ponies began to gather. Unicorn guards had put up a protective shield to keep out the dangerous weather. Twilight and Spike were escorting some Unicorns into the camp when Applejack spotted them. “Twilight, Spike, everything good on yer end?” AJ asked, walking over to the siblings. “Yes, we were able to sort everything out with the firework troupe,” Twilight said. “Although we haven’t found the pony responsible for putting those ideas in their head. No pony is better than others because of their race.” Spike said, shrugging. “I’m sure they might need some lessons on friendship,” Twilight said hopefully. “How are things here?” “Well, Fluttershy is making a head count of all the children and elderly. Rarity is helping tend to the sick and injured. I’ve finished sorting the contaminated food from the uncontaminated ones. Pinkie is going around doing her best to keep spirits high, and last I heard Rainbow was helping the weather ponies stop the storm.” AJ said. “We’ve got some more injured over here!” Buttercup shouted as she escorted several ponies with bruises and cuts from debris. Before Twilight could respond Ivory Spark ran past her to his fellow guard. “Have you found my sister? My parents can’t find her anywhere!” Ivory said with worry in his voice. “Not yet, but with the princesses helping we’ll find her. Now help me get these ponies inside the shield.” Buttercup said, Ivory sighed and nodded. “Seems we still have a few stragglers. Hopefully, we can get this storm under control and continue the search.” Twilight said. “Well you’ll be happy to know we’ve gotten most of the fires taken care of,” Celestia said flying down to them followed by Luna. “And the storm has been contained to the Capitol, it won’t spread any further now,” Luna added. “Good! We’ll have just enough time to continue the holiday.” Twilight said. “We won’t let these accidents ruin the night.” “Where are Dragon Lord Ember and young Smolder?” Celestia asked. “They’re in the camp with Pinkie,” AJ said. Pointing over to one part of the camp, Pinkie was juggling for some ponies with Smolder’s aid while Ember was staring down at the paper with the message. “I think this word means slumber?” Ember groaned as she walked in place. “And does this one mean ... big rock? Mountain maybe?” Smolder walked over to her leader with concern. “Any luck?” Smolder asked. “Sort of? I’ve gotten a few words and letters but it’s still a slow process.” Ember sighed. “Well, don’t you worry I’m sure once things are back to normal Twilight will help you!” Pinkie chimed in. “After we get back to partying of course.” “Sooner than that even!” Twilight said, walking over with the others. Everyone exchanged hopeful looks as Discord popped above them. “How wonderful, I can’t wait to introduce you all to my new friend! Any sign of her?” Discord asked hopefully. “No sign of the mare you described Discord, but we may see her yet,” Luna said. “Still I’m quite proud of you for making a new friend despite all this.” “Why thank you, Lulu! That means so much to me.” Discord said with a big grin. Suddenly the sound of thunder echoed overhead as lightning flashed across the sky. Rainbow descended with a few pegasi into a shielded camp. “Rainbow, what's the status?” Spike asked. Rainbow shook off the rainwater from her mane as she groaned. “Not good, the storm is still too strong to directly deal with. There’s too much lightning for me to do a Rainboom to clear the sky. I’m starting to think what happened was no accident.” Rainbow said. “Where did that lead weather pony we saw earlier go?” “He’s with the injured ponies, he got hit by a stray lightning bolt and was knocked out cold,” Fluttershy said, walking to them with Rarity. “Poor dear’s fur is burnt, and his mane and tail are a mess!” Rarity said sadly. “We’ll speak with him once he wakes up, I don’t think he could’ve caused this storm intentionally,” Twilight said. “He was muttering in his sleep, saying something about an assistant. Maybe if we could find them we could figure out what happened.” Rarity said. “Good idea Rari-WHOA!” Pinkie began until her whole body started shaking and shuddering like crazy. “Doozy! Doozy! We have a Doozy coming!” She said worriedly. “Now what?” Rainbow groaned. “Oh no I don’t think we can handle a Pinkie sense doozy on top of everything now!” Fluttershy said worriedly. Discord popped over to Fluttershy to give her a reassuring hug. “No need to fear my dear, your Lord of Chaos is here to hel-ACK!” Discord said as his whole body started flailing. When he was finished a look of extreme worry laid on his face. “That can’t be right?” “Discord, what's wrong?” Celestia asked. Suddenly the ground began to shake as a bright teal glow shone out from the castle. Every creature across the city stared in confusion as the light grew brighter and larger. The sky darkened as the city was bathed in a teal-colored eldritch light blinding everyone. Any creature who looked at Canterlot from afar would see a bright teal glow engulf the mountainside. As quickly as it appeared the light faded. Everything was still and silent, the storm itself even seemed to pause in anticipation. An ominous dread spread through every creature there, on a primal level. Lights started going out violently across the city, from candles suddenly burning out to light bulbs shattering to pieces. Then lighting struck down from the storm, repeatedly striking the castle as if something was drawing in the magical energy of the storm. Too transfixed on the light show, none noticed the shadows bleeding away from their spots and headed toward the castle with great speed. Another rumble and several giant black crystals rose where the lightning struck. “No….” Discord said, breaking the silence. He started walking forward and then began running into a full sprint. The voices of his friends were drowned out by his quickening heartbeat and the growing rumbling noise. The black crystals began to glow shifting between colors of red, purple, and green. Flapping his mismatched wings he flew up to the castle, he snapped his fingers sending a wave of chaos magic toward the crystals. Hammers, saws, jackhammers, and dynamite all appeared around the crystals. Slamming, chipping, stabbing, exploding on them. The crystals remained unfazed, their color hue shift growing faster. He snapped his fingers again, summoning cannons that fired upon the crystals and vats full of acid pouring on top of them. They damaged the castle, but the crystals remained unfazed. Now a humming noise began as the crystals crackled with black colored electricity. “No, no, no! NO!” Discord repeated snapping both his fingers. Now just blasting the cursed things with raw chaos energy. Still, they remained unfazed, mocking him. “Discord!!” The shouts of his friends rushed to the castle, but he paid them no heed. Sweat ran down his face and fear raced through his heart. The humming grew louder as the crystals pulsed with powerful magic. “I won’t let this happen!” Discord growled, pulling out a giant hammer. He flew toward the nearest crystal and slammed down the hammer with a mighty crack! A flash of light ignited as it made contact. The impact was so powerful it flung the draconequus back. He blinked his eyes and saw the crystal finally shattered. Dead. Lifeless. “Ha.Ha! Haha! Take that!” He turned back to his gathered friends. “We’re fine! Nothing a little elbow grease can’t fix!” “...D̴͇̭͉͍̀́̾̆̕î̷̜̼̠͎̻̃̾̾͛͗ş̷̧̢̧̡͔̱́́͗͠͝ć̷̺̹̤̼̄ò̷̧̻̫̮̹̮ŕ̶͙͔̯̹́̀̀̊͘d̴̠̿͗...“ The spirit of chaos felt his heart stop. The looks of fear in his friend's eyes made his blood run cold. He turned slowly around. Black smog rose from the shattered crystal. A giant pair of green pupil-less glowing eyes with purple smoke emitting from them glared down at him with vengeful intent. The other crystals shattered as more black smoke rose, pooling together into one large black cloud that dwarfed the castle. The fog solidified as a blood-red horn emerged above the eyes. The black smog jutted out and grabbed the draconequus suddenly, squeezing him tightly. The fog began to dissipate to reveal a large black armored scaled claw clutching the chaos lord tightly. Two large black bat-like wings jutted out from the fog, and a charred and cracked face emerged from the smoke. Two more horns jutting out of the creature's head like a ram pointed back to its jagged face with a gaping maw of the mouth that was lit by a raging inferno within. With a fanged grin, the devil spoke. “...Y̶̟̘͔͂o̵̡̹̐̃͐͘ù̸͓͈͓͚͋̏͝ ̷̞͌͌̂̀a̶̫̟̐͋̍͐r̸̳̘̈́̾̓e̵̦͍̯̎ ̸̨̣̲̼̈́̒m̸͈̂̏͝i̸̪̪͙̘̇̄͗͘ṉ̸̜̈́͆͋ͅẻ̷̘̭͔ ̶̨͎̲̒͌̓...D̶̞̭̺̾͑̚̚i̵͉͂͂ͅẽ̵̢̻̝͚̆...” Author's Note Happy Halloween! 🎃 Hope you all enjoy this chapter! A calculated experiment of some higher intelligence? The work of the gods? They were wrong. It was born in FIRE. Before time, there was only one realm. Eä, a realm of light and dark, of war and death. The forces of darkness combated the forces of light for dominance, centuries filled with the blood of the fallen. It was a realm of men, elves, dwarves, eagles, goblins, wraiths, and orcs. Each being pawns to titans, the Valar, who sought their own ends, creating kingdoms, alliances, to forge and fight each other. There were many times when either side would appear to be the victor. After an age of strife, an age of fellowships, a war of rings. The forces of darkness pulled one last gamble. A final battle, between the light and darkness. Prophecy had foretold of darkness's defeat, but the fallen Valar, Melkor, lord of darkness, refused to fall. Melkor pulled power from the very prison he was cast out to. In his last desperate act, Melkor revived his greatest creations, the dragons. However, this would prove to be the end of everything. Empowered by the energies of the void, these wild beasts became unstable and destroyed everything in their path. The greatest of the dragons, Ancalagon the Black slew his very creator along with the rest of the Valar. The black dragon’s wrath broke the barriers around the realm, letting the void bleed in. This cosmic collide of Eä and the void, the merging of so many eldritch energies, reality collapsed in on itself, the last sounds were the roars of the King of Dragons. Then there was silence, nothing at all. … ... … … ... Then there was light. Author's Note New story because I was bored lol hope you enjoy!
Chapter 1: AwakeningMount Everhoof.
Chapter 5: Dreams and Preperations“No…” The Bewitching Bell glowed dimly, barely giving any light in the endless void.
ProlougeThe beginning, many wonder how it came to be. What sparked the creation of time and space? Was it some cosmic miracle?
