Let me start again and see if I can fix the problems in this passage. ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE WORK UNDERWAY- PLEASE STAND BY As is the norm for these sorts of stories (and the fact that any sort of variety is something of a rarity when it comes to this genre of fiction in any regard), Jimmy was once more at home inside his house, sitting at his desk and looking into a screen. The weather was nice outside, but he had to admit that it wasn't the best of days ever. A combination of being alone in life and stuck in lockdown had left him somewhat miserable, and his mates were too far away to be of any help to him. So, he decided to turn to his old journal. This old book was dark blue in colour and had the symbol of a crescent moon on him. Looking through its pages, he found months of correspondance between himself and the woman who lived on the other end of the portal universe that he knew existed. So Jimmy began to write. Dear Luna, I'm pretty bored and could do with some company right now. Could you possibly spare some time? Your honest subject. Jimmy. Moments later, the journal lit up, and a response appeared just below it. There is very little going on in court at the moment, so I believe I can spare a few hours. I shall be will you in a matter of moments. A minute or two passed. Nothing happened. Jimmy hoped that the multiverse wasn't down for maintenance or something absurd like that. But a few more moments passed, and the room suddenly filled with pale light. Jimmy shielded his eyes to avoid being blinded, but eventually the light subsided, and when he turned, he saw her standing there. Princess Luna, a warm, gentle, caring smile on her face. "It is wonderful to see you again Jimmy," she said, as Jimmy pulled her into a hug. "I've missed you," Jimmy replied. "It's been about six months since we last saw each other, and the world's been a bit of a mess since then." "I saw as much," Luna sighed. "All this suffering, caused by the incompetence of one government. Back in Equestria, a little magic would have cured this problem completely, but alas in this world our powers are limited." Jimmy ended the hug and stepped back, given Luna the space she needed to spread her skirts out, space she needed as the skirt took up a whole six feet. "You haven't seen Manteo without a tour guide, have you?" "I must admit the last time I toured your town, I was technically you." A sad look fell over her face. She still felt some shame for changing Jimmy into a duplicate of herself against his will. "But I am happy to take a trip around town with you if you wish. But first I could do with something to eat, if any such establishments are currently running." "You'll need face protection and ID," Jimmy replied. "Alternatively, I could sort that bit for you." Luna smiled. "I can use some of my magic to render both of us immune to the virus for a short period, and I believe the transformation magic has a similar effect, girdling the subject in a mantle of safety." She concentrated, and a bright pulse of light came from her hands. "There. That, hopefully, should keep us covered for the next six hours or so. Unfortunately, without the moon in the sky, I cannot cast a stronger spell." "Six hours is plenty of time," Jimmy smiled. "Are you planning on changing?" "My ballgown will do fine." A smile crossed Luna's face. "But your rules require you to keep six feet apart, right?" "Yes," Jimmy answered, and then saw where this was going. "Indeed. The skirt is six feet in diameter. A ready made social distancing device, if you will." Jimmy then extended his hand. "My lady, let me lead the way." "You are more like that captain then I realised. I sincerely hope you do not have her issues with anger management." The Karmelia was oddly busy for a day like today. Normally, a Saturday was reasonably quiet for a day, but the circumstances that they were in now (ie, people pretending the virus wasn't happening, so behaving like morons) produced some unfortunate results. Such as one man who was having a shouting match with the server, an older, white haired man with a beard to rival Santa Claus. "You cannot force me to wear a mask! Wearing a mask is a violation of civil rights and liberties, and the first step to the government sending armed goons onto the streets to abduct us." The older man sighed. "They're already doing that, they're called the Department of Homeland Security. Sir, I'll ask you one more time, please wear a mask." "Why? It's a violation of my rights, and it won't affect me! I'm young and fit!" The older man adjusted his face shield. "It's not yourself that's the concern, it's other people. You're so concerned with your rights you've forgotten your responsibilities. Unless you put the damn mask on, I refuse to serve you." The other man stormed off- and walked straight into Luna, bouncing off her skirt. "Oh, hello princess," he said snidely. "Did you get lost on your way to Disneyland?" Luna glowered at him as he walked off. "Are all humans really this rude?" she asked. "Has something happened to render them so idiotic?" "Yes," Jimmy replied. "It's called 'voting Republican'. Oh well, nothing we can do." He looked up to the server. "Hi dad!" "Hello Jimmy," the older man smiled. "What can I do for you today?" He then saw Luna, and bowed. "Your Royal Highness." "Good afternoon, sir-" "Le, please." Luna nodded. "I am on a visit from Equestria, and would like to dine at this establishment. Jimmy, what would you recommend?" Jimmy and Luna ordered something, and then went to sit down, before Jimmy picked up a strange thing. "Ooh! Pretty!" It suddenly warped into his hair. "Oh. Here we go again!" And indeed it was, for this strange and marvellous object proceeded to bring his clothing to life. Thankfully, people were too preoccupied on their food and keeping 6 feet apart to notice anything untoward happening. Jimmy's footwear was the first to go, stretching up his legs to his knees, with the frontplate covering the kneecaps to protect them from any further misfortune. With laces gone and all parts merged into one, the boots turned purple with strange white lines running up the frontplates, followed by his socks growing up his legs and behind the boots to prevent them rubbing against his skin. Soon to follow were his shorts, the legs of which suddenly tore open and restitched themselves back together, only this time in such a way to create a skirt. This skirt then turned pink from the usual green, and became crisscrossed with a tartan pattern of purple, orange and yellow, before gently popping outwards and increasing slightly in width. It looked very silly. The collar on his shirt vanished and the neckline dropped to be a bit lower. It turned a slightly pink colour for some reason, and then the top of the shirt gained an emblem of a purple sun with spikes radiating off it, with a blue cloud in front of that with raindrops falling off it. A dark purple band appeared at the bottom of the shirt as the process caused a black jacket to materialise into existence, although (as seems to be the fashion in the Equestria Girls world) it only ran to his waist. Now looking even sillier than usual (which, I must say, is quite the achievement), the next stage started up, with his feet shrinking in size and his legs slimming down to be much slimmer than usual (which is, to say, a lot, given his limbs were thicker than tree trunks). The boots adjusted accordingly. Then, his hips popped outwards and his items 'down there' retreated inwards to where nobody could see, and were replaced by the female equivalent. Moments after that, all extraneous body fat melted away and vanished into the ether, soon to be followed by her shoulders being pulled inwards, all clothing compensating for the abrupt change in body shape. Her ass swelled in size for a bit, followed by a pair of breasts suddenly popping out of her chest. Her neck slimmed down to create something smaller and her face rearranged, resulting in a blue skinned girl with pink eyes and far too much eyeliner on. Her hair also did not survive as normal, resulting in a rather strange mess of purple and pink glued to her skull. Sunny Flare simply sat down as if nothing had happened, with Luna opposite (she had effortlessly spread her skirts to prevent them from flying up in her face, but even so the fabric spilled everywhere and proved to be something of a trip hazard). "So, how is it in Equestria, dearie?" Suddenly, the shop door went ting-a-ling-a-ling, and several other girls stepped in through the door. "I daresay I do not recognise them," Luna said. "Oh, I know them. Hello! Slightly late to the party, aren't we?" Indigo Zap rolled her eyes. "You didn't have to fight your way through crowds of drunk people, did you?" "No, but that's because I don't go to riff raff events." "Well no wonder your debit card bills are so high," Sugarcoat said sardonically. "If you always eat at places like this. Lemon, you said you had a card?" "Yes I do!" Lemon skipped over to the counter. "Hello Le!" "Hello to you too," Le smiled. "What can I get you?" Sour Sweet poked Indigo Zap. "Trouble. It's the klutz." Indigo Zap turned around to see another face bumbling about outside, with Alice next to her. "Yeah. And the nutcase too. I was wondering where she'd got to."
