When she was searching through her library, Twilight came upon a spell that would raise the dead from their graves and make the summoner the ruler of the dead. Seeing this as an opportunity to learn another spell that may help her, she cast the spell.

However, this resulted in the alicorn's mind being corrupted by the power that would let her control evil itself and she raised the dead to attack all sources of living beings.

Within days, most of Equestria had fallen to the massive swarms of undead. The other Elements of Harmony, along with Princesses Celestia and Luna have gone missing behind enemy lines. Equestria was doomed...

...until a ragtag group of friends and unlikely allies banded together, hellbent on saving both Equestria and Twilight from evil's clutches, one bullet at a time.
