Year-Long Yearning
Anniversary Date, Present/6:50 AM
Flumph. Too sparkly and green, she’d look like a Hearth’s Warming Tree.
Flumph: Too slinky, that was something she was saving for Hearts and Hooves in two days.
Flumph. Too many buckles, the whole point of today was that both their hearts and clothes would be easy to open.
“Mom! You’ve been looking through clothes for twenty minutes! You sure you don’t want help?”
“Much as I love you offering, dear, I must insist on doing this alone.” Behind Stellar Flare’s flurry of hoofwork, the door behind her closed its last inch. Stellar couldn’t help but grin at the flash of spectacle-shrouded blue behind the crack. “After all, this is our anniversary!” she added.
It made her heart swell to know that even now, Sunburst was punctual. Ever since he got that lucrative job in the Crystal Empire, Stellar had feared their time holding hooves in Sire’s Hollow was at an end. The number of times that bits came between bedmates had been a nagging thought in the back of the stormy mind of Stellar. It seemed to be eternally buoyed too; the memories of Firelight’s argument-spurred departure at the docks, the constant pressing on whether her plans would bring more wayward travelers to the docks.
Yet through that turbulent tempest, Sunburst had come like the sunrise, in more ways than one. And he’d only improved with age, thought Stellar as she yanked another two dresses from her closet. Finally settling on the navy-blue of a one-shoulder gown, Stellar’s horn sparked to life, the fabric tickling at her curves in ways that made her lips tug.
“Another snug dress? What did I miss?” Her missive echoed into empty air. Suddenly, she missed Sunburst’s warm forelegs again. She thought of her son hugging her tight, his hooves combing through her mane, telling her that they’d come through anything she labored through together. It was an addition, one far less fatal to her figure than the sweet cakes she’d buried her snout in since the Sunburst-less winter season.
Was it so wrong to long, though, at least for her prodigious offspring? The Empire job hadn’t slowed his uber-precise personality in the slightest, making him a steady anchor in Stellar’s otherwise stormy life. Always in on the weekends right at half past six on the dot, always offering a hoof (or horn) to her whenever a paring knife slipped in her grasp or a grocery item slipped her mind. He was so considerate, and it got Stellar’s everything running.
Despite it being twenty-four months ago, it may as well have been twenty-four hours since then in the mind of Stellar. I don’t think I’ll ever have enough time with Sunburst. Her lips pursed. But I won’t stand in the way of his future… even if I seem to be getting too much in my own way.
“Well, Mom, breakfast is done. Let me know when you’re ready?”
Staller’s eyebrows rose in shock. Speaking of time getting away from me! A flash of orange light later, and she was in front of Sunburst, her grin’s glint reflecting in his eyes. “How do I look?”
“Fantastic, mom.” No embarrassment, no rushing. Just pure, uncut honesty, and it was all for her. And the sparkles through his spectacles doubled, and Stellar couldn’t have felt prouder.
“Even with the… y’know?” Stellar said, cursing herself the second the words left her lips. Damn it, could she not take ‘yes’ for an Answer? Much as she regretted her break with Firelight, he’d been spot-on about that part of her.
But to Sunburst, Stellar Flare was just as wonderful now as the time they’d first kissed. That the look that she had never been seen in anypony else’s eyes was what finally made Stellar pursue. To Tartarus with the consequences, she didn’t need water as much as she needed that heart-melting gaze. And now they got to repeat that first date today!
Right after breakfast! “Well then, let’s get to it. Really looking forward to surprising you today, Mom.” And Sunburst pecked her cheek. Letting Stellar take the lead, both ponies made their way through the halls of her house to the kitchen.
Stellar actually giggled as she saw Sunburst stick behind the last curve. And also thanked herself for not bothering with underwear this time, heavenly as the silk often felt on her flanks. If this was anything like their first date, there was likely a good reason for her to enter here alone.
First Date, 1 Year Ago/9:50 AM
It didn’t mean that Sunburst’s frown would stay the way it was. Full rays of sunlight lit up the thick linen of the table. The snout-attracting crackles of cooked shrimp wafted down his nostrils, making him gasp as he set the bouquet of roses in his hoof on the counter. But the house was missing the liveliest element of all - his devoted mother.
Then Sunburst stopped, his ears curling back in dread. Apparently, both his timing and phrasing were terrible today.
“Great, Sunburst,” he muttered as he slowly shuffled the table. “Your Mom makes breakfast and all you can think of is how she was a good fit in the kitchen.”
He couldn’t help but worry for his tireless mother, though - any faster and he could have helped in this bounty of a meal. But fate apparently sought to trip him up. Three stops on the Friendship Express somehow left him with train-lag. He’d had to port several times through Sire’s Hollow to keep up with Firelight as they chatted about trade - man, did that purple unicorn walk and talk! Then there was that dog stuck in a tree. He didn’t even question that one; and not just because the exhaustion that turned his mane and chest floof into sweat-soaked weights around his neck.
He barely made it at a quarter to ten to knock on Stellar’s front door. Dried off by nine-forty seven. Moved into the house when he realized the note letting him in on the windowpane on nine-forty eight. How’d I miss that? he asked himself.
And all to miss Stellar by two minutes. He didn’t even get the chance to pull up a seat for her, one lonely chair the only pier in this seafood-filled harbor.
Sunburst steeled himself; he’d finish this meal, then continue his search for Stellar. It’d be a waste to let hot food go to waste.
The shrimp tasted amazing. Grilled to perfection, the light meat burst in Sun’s mouth, the rich salt and herbs making his eyes fluttered. Then his eyes bulged out of their sockets when he felt two pillow-soft forehooves slap on his knees. Under the table. “Good morning, Sunny….” cooed out from between his crotch, before several kisses lined up his thighs.
“M-mom! You said we’d be having breakfast first this time-ah!” His gasp broke like glass around them, and he nearly upset the cup at his left side as Stellar’s licks got closer to center port. Your note sa-ah!-said so!”
“Oh, my son. I said we were going to eat out.” The saucy purr from Stellar made Sunburst’s hair - and fifth leg - stand on end. “So why are you dressed for a restaurant trip?”
Before Sunburst could stammer out an answer, his mother took her first lick of her succulent meat. And his eyes were too busy rolling back for him to focus on anything after that.
Anniversary Date, Present/9:50 AM
Sunburst was snapped back to focus by his mother’s gasp. It wouldn’t be exactly like the whirlwind encounter their first date started with, but he had no doubt it’d leave her speechless all the same.
Stepping into the kitchen, he took in Stellar’s joyous grin as her eyes locked on her new prize. Like it had been a year ago, the kitchen table was spotless but for a stacked plate. But this one was far more decorated and stuffed than before. Two pairs of blue eyes took in the sparkling new red tablecloth, and the rich heap of lobster and Yakyakistan iceberg lettuce. They did complement one another almost perfectly.
And the kitchen table was spectacular, too.
“Goodness, Sunbun, you shouldn’t have.”
Trying to keep his cheeks from turning the same color as his mane, Sunburst nodded appreciatively. “But I wanted to, Mom.” He pulled out the seat for her, then slowly stroked back Stellar’s longer mane as she sat.
“So gentlecoltly, too!” As Stellar took her first bite of seafood, she closed her eyes expectedly. Oh, the crunch and pop of the meal still gripped her ears. But oh, the after-meal special was something she was ready for. Which made it all the more surprising when all that greeted her senses was heard the soft thump of Sunburst’s rump as he took the seat next to her. Slowly opening her eyes, she saw him intently staring into her own. It wasn’t like she hadn’t dreamed of this being how their anniversary dinner began; with Sunburst longingly looking her over.
But from across the table, rather than under? “Surely you must be angry too, Sunburn?” she purred.
“Well, yes, but…” A cute blush sprang up upon Sunburst’s coppery cheeks. Stellar knew it well - the station between his wants and needs, playing out right before her. “We have a big day ahead today, Mom."
“Do you think I couldn’t handle it if we had some fun too early?” Stellar’s pout did a good job of hiding her gritted teeth. Again, it felt like she was one step behind proceedings. Again she felt like she was in Sunburst’s way, instead of helping him find it. Like every parent should.
But again, there was Sunburst, the ever-reliable port in a storm. “No, Mom. It’s just that… what you did that morning was one of the biggest eye-openers of my life.” He stroked at his beard thoughtfully. “And I’m not so… well, I thought my cooking could make that same impact.”
Stellar’s ears perked up. Wait, what was it that he was trying to say? But that thought was soon quashed, right as Stellar took notice again of the beautiful lapel upon his chest. Five points, with a crystal heart nestled in the center. For Great Discovery, it said on the bottom. P.M.A.C. and P.S.A. were embossed in pink at the center, with a precision only an alicorn horn could deliver.
“So, did it satisfy?” Sunburst’s words brought Stellar out of her rumination.
Nodding fitfully, Stellar swallowed back her last morsel - and the doubts that it chased down. Cadance and Shining wouldn’t have given Sunburst that honor without him being prompt with his revelations. Suddenly, Stellar was grateful to see her son on level ground right now.
“Well, then… thanks, Mom.” A flash of Sunburst’s horn, and the plate was soon washed and stacked away. But his eyes never left Stellar’s, and she didn’t know if was the focus or the multitasking that made her happier.
“It’s my pleasure, Sunburst.” Such impeccable table manners. In fact, thought Stellar as they pushed off from the tabled. I think our last date here ended with the same words.
Well, and a lot more lip-smacking on her part. But a Sunburst taken in any other way apparently was just as sweet - even if metaphorically in this date’s case.
First Date, 1 Year Ago/10:25 AM
“Mom, what a-are you do do-ah!”
At first, Sunburst had thought that Stellar draining him dry under the table had been the end of it. He’d chalked it up to the lack of time they'd had together at first. Heck, he thought that them moving through the side streets of Sire’s hollow, the sturdy wooden architecture looming around them, would take her mother’s breath away. After all, it was her work. It certainly surprised Sunburst at first - mostly because of the unfamiliarity. Architecture this well-planned out was a far cry from the Crystal Empire houses. Those houses were dazzling in their substance - pure diamond and sparkly zirconia - but lacking in design.
Of course, Sunburst had issues to deal with in the Crystal Empire too. And the last one had almost gotten him sputtering then. “What do you mean, there was a changeling under the caves?” he had cried to an equally fluttered Flash Sentry.
But this return to Sire’s Hollow was supposed to be a break from that craziness. A time to finally have that first date they planned, him and Stellar. Silly him, he thought the biggest issue would be the jitters, hence the rose bouquet he carried.
Turns out, the white hoof beneath his starry cloak was a bigger concern now. Stroking his own flaccid cock to life, Stellar's shit-eating grin shone. “Cmon, Sunbun, we only have so long before the movie...” Stellar’s coquettish grin kept everypony’s eyes on her and the beast she was stirring to life between her son’s legs. “Besides, multitasking is what I do best!”
Once again, Sunburst’s eyes fluttered to the craftsmanship, the disdainful stares of the other ponies, anything but his stirring stallionhood. “Mom, half the town's looking at me like a leper.
“Nonsense, Sunny. Nopony could have a reason to be mad at you.” Stellar’s horn lit up, pulling the tails of Sunburst’s cloak taut around his hindlegs. And concealing her hoofjob even more. “You’re the exact same pony you were when you left.” A downright sinful tilt accompanied her voice.
Sunburst still disagreed though. When he’d left for the Empire, his depature was as the apple of the town’s eye, the pony that everypony thought could do no wrong. Well… he thought as the image of Our Town flashed into his mind, everypony but one. But he’d long since fixed the gulf between him and Starlight. The issue now was that, contrary to Stellar’s belief, he did not come back as the same pony. Even now, the impossibly soft feel of his cloak reminded him of its hefty cost. His mane shone with a brilliant hue only Firelight’s mimicked in the town - and he was the head of the Preservation Society!
And he knew the dirty looks they shot him wasn’t because of what was underneath - like the hoof massaging away at his nethers. Nopony could even see him there, thanks to his mother (something Sunburst wondered wasn’t applicable in more ways than one.) No, what was on the outside now put Sunburst much further than a foreleg’s distance from the other residents. “O-Oh!” he growled into his mother's mane, hiding his moan in her red locks.
Stellar grinned as they moved on. “Oh don’t worry, everypony, my son’s flowing in from the Empire.” Sunburst thanked her for leaving it at that; ‘and boy, is his horn tired’ always felt a weird way to end that. Even as a joke.
“Well don’t let him go too long, he might end up drifting his hoity-toity rump back!”
Stellar’s eyes turned to ice as she looked for the jeerer. Her hoof left Sunburst’s barrel in a flash. He was left sucking air as Stellar shouted. “Who said that?!”
”Oh now you care what becomes of the ponies in this town!
Seeing the heckler brought Sunburst back to life. That pony had a purple coat and light blue mane almost white. The streaks in it though, made Sunburst think of it as a reverse of Glimmer’s mane. And so did her expression. It was a twisted mask of fury, envy, and yet futility.
Sunburst had to alleviate it. He’d come out of the Archives he buried himself in for a year for a good reason. “Look, ma’am, I’m not sure what I’ve done to you, but if you tell me what it is-”
“That’s exactly it, rich kid! You don’t know about what happened to Sire’s Hollow! Because you never cared to look?1” shouted the heckler. “Until Glimmer had to drag your pampered rump to us-”
“And if you don’t stop haggling my son, his rump will be the least of your worries!” But the hecklers’ words hit like a dagger to Sunburst’s heart. And as he looked at the gathering crowd, clothes full of more holes than he remembered on his last visit, it got worse.,
“Oh, now the head landlady's gonna preach! Guess that’s your job now, considering Firelight!”
“What I do with Firelight’s none of your business! Assuming you could keep one afloat for a week!”
Despite Sunburst standing slack-eyed at the fire that Staller still harbored, each barb the heckler and Stellar throw out make the blade sink deeper. Goodness, how much had he missed because he was so caught up with the Elements, with Starlight, with his mother? His eyes squeezed shut to keep away the flood of tears, only for the memories to drown him instead. Memories of how he was supposed to be the pony that brought prosperity to the hollow. Of how he would become the pony that made Sire's Hollow's promise as prominent as its parlors.
Memories that were burrowed as deep as he was in his books. His studies. Everything but the city that made him.
As their yells crescendoed, so did Sunburst’s, finally making Stellar’s argument stop. Immediately, he felt her arms hold him close to her bosom. “Get a doctor!” she hollered her voice cracking with horror and duress. "Now, before we have a breakdown on our hooves!”
Anniversary Date, Present/10:30 AM
“You know, I never did get the breakdown of the movie we wanted to see.”
Sunburst wasn’t the only one surprised by Stellar’s question. They were in the same alley as they’d been a year ago, but apparently it was only her mind being occupied this go-around. “Well, Mom, I figured that the feature starting up again in the theatre here was a sign. Streetcart Named Desire, remember?”
“Goodness, and you remembered? For me?” Stellar’s smile seemed a bit more forced this time, but her eyes twinkled all the same with impish curiosity. “It really seems like you're on top of this, Sunburn.”
Sunburst didn’t have the heart to tell Stellar about the flyer tucked in his cloak. “Y-yeah. Guess I am.”
Stellar’s eyes then turned to the buildings. Since that first date, they’d been amazingly refurbished, the replaced lumber and planking standing out like highlights. But the most telling difference here was the ponies flitting through them. Sire’s Hollow Appreciation Day posters were all over the slot, the sparkling amber and ruby in their outlines hinting at their true origin. And there were a lot more Crystal Ponies around, their shimmering coats almost hidden under saddlebags bursting with gifts and gadgets.
“You know, you didn’t have to do this for... me.”
Sunburst realized that the ‘me’ in her wording was unfocused. A throwaway. Like it wasn’t the word Stellar wanted to use. “It was nothing.“ To him, at least - him bringing this up with Princess Cadance nearly saw the Princess of Love fall over in his throne. The second he mentioned just why he’d had that bill of health with him, though, Cadance couldn’t assist this town fast enough.
“I just wanted to show I didn’t forget where I came from.”
“And we’ll never forget who got us where we are.” Stellar cooed, trailed a hood down her son’s shoulder.
“I know I sure won't!”
Sunburst rose back up with a start. Right in front of her was the heckler pony from a year before - but now, she was far more put-together. Her mane, while still muted in its glow was a brilliant bridges. Her clothes looked far more structured, the lush white petticoat and bonnet hat sitting pretty on her. And she was waving to them from behind a sea of Crystal Ponies, from the stand she now had.
Stellar couldn’t help but notice the plague above the unicorn, and the horsemanship in the embossing of the name Spindelle’s Traveling Loom. It was a sign of an expert weaver. For Stellar though, it was like that year-long gulf had opened up again.
Sunburst’s rift with the pony was not similarly sized. “Goodness, Spindelle! You're here too?“ he breathed out.
“Sunburst?” Goodness, I didn’t even know you came this time! Hold-on!” After nudging her way past the gathered ponies - and magicking up an ‘Out of Stock’ sign on the front of the stand -Spindle was in front of Sunburst again. “Look, I’m probably the last pony you want to talk to, so let me say first-”
“What you said in every letter you sent me for the last six months?” Sunburst chuckled, thumping her on the back. “Think you’ve made it clear it was the heat of the moment. No worries.”
“Oh. Well.” Spindle sheepishly said. “Is there anything you want? All my tapestries are selling like hotcakes. Name any you like - it’s yours, free of charge.”
“Actually…” Sunburst replied. “It’s about your son. The one you mentioned in your last letter. Apparently he’s starring in the play going on in a half-hour?”
“And you want to know where it is?” Spindelle beamed. “G-goodness, Sunburst, you really shouldn’t... I-I mean, if you don't have to!” Then her eyes fell on her mother and some of the energy leached away from her smile. “Though that might be for the best…”
“Oh no, I just wanted to know if I could make a personal donation to his school - I know it’s one of the few places the stimulus didn’t get to but-wait, what’s going on?” Following Spindelle’s trajectory, he noticed a curl tugging at her mother’s mouth. “Oh. Mom, I know I should have told you, but this time, I wanted it to be a surprise.”
”That it has.”
Sunburst slowly reached to her with his forehoof, drawing soothing circles in her back. “Look, Mom. As long as we have this, we’re not gonna get sidetracked.” A flip of his horn, and two slips of paper showed up.
Stellar finally let her grin return upon seeing it. That was something new - early passes to the play.
“Pardon…” Spindle piped up behind them. “But I couldn’t help but note that those passes are purple - usually that’s for couples, but I don’t see anypony else you’d…” Then her eyes widened in realization. “Wait, you and…”
The heat in Stellar’s cheeks rose too. Never mind that she hadn’t known about this - another distressingly common phrase in her life - but there was no way this could be happening! Yes, Sunburst had kept her from pressing charges from their first date, but Stellar couldn't imagine it’d gone this far!
But as Sunburst pulled Stellar to his side, unashamed and undeterred, her heart finally settled. “Yes. Me and her.” Sunburst said. “And you’re right. It has been a while. Enough to make me see just how much good Mom’s done in my life, even when I couldn’t see her do it.” His eyes scanned over the bar , the ponies nearly still awaiting Spindelle’s return. “Wouldn’t you agree?”
After a while, Spindelle relented, her mane providing a faint cover for her short nod. “Guess I gotta, rich kid.” But this time, the word came out honeyed, changed by experience. “Oh, my son’s going to Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns. But I’d still like the donation to go there, instead of here. You’ve done so much for the town already.” Before Stellar could shoot out the next few words, Spindelle beat her to the punch. “And I never should have doubted you would.”
Stellar’s jaw felt fit to dig a trench to Tartarus, it’d dropped down so far. She managed to get herself comped in time to see Sunburst nod his thanks. After a while, Stellar followed suit. “Thanks for your understanding.”
“Sure thing, Miss Flare.”
It might have been the first time that name had crossed Spindelle’s lips in a year, but Stellar felt it chip away at the ice in her heart immediately. Maybe that dogged cynicism had been just as much an impediment to her as it was a shield. Celestia knew that she was aware of how fleeting love was.
But perhaps she shouldn’t have been. Especially considering she and Sunburst were going next.
First Date, 1 Year Ago/1:10 PM
Goodness. So many bright lights and brighter smiles. So many tests and pressure cuffs. Sunburst had never liked doctors before, and he definitely didn’t now.
Thankfully, the ever-omnipresent glow of her concerned mother’s horn through the door window kept him leveled, a lighthouse in the growing squall. He focused on it, and not the flurry of events in the Sire’s Hollow hospital, or their likely ruined date. And soon, a “Well good news, Sunburst; it’s only a panic attack.” graced his twitchy ears.
“R-really?” Sunburst replied.
“Yes. Seems you’ve only had them during your childhood. Fascinating."
Why was the doctor looking at his cloak as he said this? Sunburst both suspected and didn’t want to suspect. Too many in Sire’s Hollow had seen the priceless sea-green nylon and not the pony underneath. And the one pony in Sire’s Hollow who didn’t; well, she had her own addiction to Sunburst herself.
“You're stable enough to be cleared, then,” the doctor pony added. “I should have the note ready, but I must request you see the doctors in the Crystal Empire too…”
With a scampering of hooves, Sunburst was out of the door. Even he knew the note was being conjured at the front desk of Sire’s General Hospital; he just wanted to grab it and go.
And like clockwork, Stellar was outside the swinging door, burrowing kisses into his damp collar as she hugged him.
“Oh my goodness, Sunburst, are you okay?” she bawled. “I had to be sure, I know the only way I could get in was cashing a favor, but-”
“Mom. I’m fine.” he said, holding up a hoof. I’m just… sorry I let this get to me.”
But Stellar’s kisses didn’t let up, even with the docs staring cock-eyed at her show of affection. “Oh, Sunburst.” Stellar’s voice was warm. Addictive, even now. But Sunburst fought its siren call; the sooner they were away from these bleached walls, the better for his blood pressure. “Did the doctor give you a hard time? If he did I’ll-”
It was too much - the voice, the never-ending coddling, the pain his presence seemed to summon ceaselessly. “No!” Sunburst cursed himself for the octaves his voice rose.
But the damage was done, Stellar jumping back as if it was a snake her son had brandished at her. “Oh no. Mom, I’m sorry, I just...“ But he couldn’t finish, the words cloying to his mouth, gummed up by guilt and Stellar’s widened eyes. It was already bad enough he’d stomped on the ashes of their first time together. But blowing up at his only family?! Sunburst almost wanted to hide under the hospital now. “Let’s go Mom. I'll… go first thing tomorrow morning.”
For once, Stellar didn’t respond. Not verbally, not physically. But she still left side-by-side with him. Several treks through the maddeningly white corridors put him back at the lobby, and he almost robotically reached out for the doctor’s note. But it wasn’t at the counter.
Sunburst’s eyes snapped open as he looked for the wayward parcel. Beside him, Stellar drew in a breath - the only sound she’d made. It took the clearing of a stallion’s throat for Sunburst to realize why.
Green mane, purple coat, winning grin - it could only be one pony. “Nice to see the Sun hadn’t dimmed on our fair town just yet!” Extending a hoof to them both, Firelight beamed at Sunlight, and his ex. ”And Stellar, as attentive as ever!”
Now it was Sunburst’s turn to stand in shock as his mother shook Firelight’s hoof. “Think I may be missing something important here…” Sunburst trailed off.
"Short story?" Stellar said. "Here's the favor I called."
“Long story,” Firelight added. “I’d just shown up here for the daily check-up and to schedule my dear Pum-Starlight, for one too.” The second I saw you had been brought here unconscious, I had to help!” A stray thought made him pause. “But what could have gotten to you in such a hurry?”
“A play.” Stellar answered. “One I’m afraid we’ve missed now… along with much more.” Her gaze took off to the brown rugged floor. “I’m not sure, but I think I’ve been as misguided with my child as you were with yours. You must think the worst of me.”
Six words, and yet they’d put ruts in the rug with how heavily they fell. Sunburst’s forehoof trembled as he moved to try and comfort her, stopped, tried again then took the note from Firelight instead.
“Are you okay, dear Sunburst?” Firelight asked. “Again, I meant no hard feelings when your mother and I went separate. I can only hope the feeling was mutual.”
“Nothing of that sort, Mr. Firelight.” Sunburst said. “And I have to add - Princess Cadance told me to give you her well-wishes… as well as her thanks for the allocation of the funds to Sire's Hollow.”
“Happy to help a Princess any way I can.” Goodness, he was always so charming! Suddenly, Sunburst felt smaller, as he looked between Firelight and Stellar. But alas, the papers thick in his hoof showed his true devotion, even if not to the extent Sunburst was Stellar’s.
Sunburst wasn’t sure how he could make things worse. But his wild-beating heart warned him just how poorly it’d take such an event.
“Well, there’s way past that dreadful episode, then.” Both Stellar and Sunburst’s ears perked up. “I’m headed to a private viewing of the Summer Sun Festival firework display. Fire Flare has been work-shopping a new performance; it’d be a perfect way for you two to get back on track!”
“Wait, you already know of our relationship?” Almost the second the words left his maw, Sunburst wanted to smack it off. Of course that was the case, of course he was his mother’s rebound lover!
But Firelight’s next words buried that theory once and for all “Why, it’s all your mother would talk about!” Despite the energy in that statement, Firelight’s smile drooped a bit. ”I must admit, it took me a while to realize it wasn’t her attempt to taunt me. Did you know she’d once said that her only regret in asking you here for your date... was not doing it when you first came back?”
Sunburst nearly choked on his saliva. To his left, Stellar pulled at her collar sheepishly. “Wait, when Starlight was with me about the friendship problem?”
“Yes. And it was that plus our fallout that made her realize just what a strapping lad you’d been -and how much she’d taken it for granted.”
“My words, not his.” Stellar cut in, bringing Sunburst’s heart at ease.
Firelight grunted approvingly. “Regardless, I think I speak for us both when I say: Miss Flare does think the world of you.”
Sunburst’s heart throbbed telltailingly at the ‘reward’ he’d given his doting mother for such care. “I know. But I’m not sure if...”
“You are Sunburst.” Firelight said. “That some ruffian thinks otherwise is their issue and theirs alone. And if this is a stumble in your bond, know that only becomes a failure if you stay down.”
Sunburst didn't know what to say. But taking another look at Stellar, her eyes still alight with the hope and promise, Sunburst's mind focused. “I’ll try, Firelight.”
“Know you will, sport.” Firelight said. “And the Summer Sun practice‘ll brighten us all right up!”
“The doctor will see you now, Firelight,” piped a soft voice from the receptionist stand.
“Well, after the physical, of course.” Firelight curtseyed to both ponies before him before disappearing behind the double doors. “After all, doctor visits aren’t a game. And if they were...”
Anniversary Date, Present/ 2:00 PM
“The name of the game is Five-Card Stud.”
The curtains finally fell on the performance, Stellar giving them the loudest round of applause alongside the joyous crowd. Sunburst courtesy joined him, his hooves heavier in his lap. Dramatic plays - especially one with so dark a twist as this one - weren’t normally his forte. But seeing the attentive gaze of his mother, the way her eyes lit up like diamonds seeing Spindelle’s son take point as Stanley, made it all worth it.
Again, his very body felt supercharged seeing Stellar so satisfied. Sunburst again took note of what Firelight had said before, about them being lucky to have each other. Was it the right decision to not start out their date exactly like Stellar had for him? Before, he’d seen Stellar’s shameless advances as an addition, something he muscled (and moaned) through to get to the calmer moments of their time together. But if it was because that devotion, that need to show she was as eager for this as he was, then who was he to refuse her?
The town was okay with us. Sunburst kept this thought at the forefront as he and Stellar left the amphitheater. They always were. It was just my new status they recoiled at.
Which didn’t make it better, but it made Sunburst feel stronger. He guessed he had Firelight to thank.
And speak of the devil himself…. “I can see you picked well!” Firelight said, right before the wooden doors of the ticket lobby. Beside him - almost trying to merge into the wall, in fact - was Starlight Glimmer, offering the tiniest of waves.
“Starlight!” Which didn't stop the 0-to-60 mile per hour dash Stellar did, launching over to Starlight’s side. “You simply must see this - Nopony in all Equestria glues you in your seat like Blanche and Stan do!”
“Right, I’ll be sure to do… that!” Starlight offered sheepishly. Behind them both, Firelight’s hoof rose to his lip in concern.
A tog on the frill of her dress brought Stellar back from the clouds, though. “Mom?” Sunburst asked. “We still have lunch at Bistro Bo’Vine to get to.”
“Oh, right.” Backing off for a minute, Stellar let Sunburst air kiss Starlight. “Now, I know I can tend to be a bit impulsive.”
Starlight chuckled. “I’ve been with Pinkie and Trixie, Miss Flare; you’re good.”
“Really? “ The mirth in Stellar voice almost seemed to reanimate her again. “Well, that’s very nice to say, Miss Glimmer."
Stellar's head turned, as if to puff herself up more. But Sunburst was one only point close enough to see her ripe a tear off of her face. And her other hooves trembled in a way Sunburst originally thought was due to the charged air in the theater. Slowly, he started to wonder if it was something more profound. Then the moment passed and Stellar was all smiles again, smoothing down her dress further. “Until next time then, Starlight.”
“You too! Now, Dad about Trixie. Do you think this gift...”
Sunburst, for once, was too fast out of the door to see that gift. It seemed that’d be another thing he'd have to wait for the Great and Powerful to flood him with mail about. For now though, his focus was on Stellar, breathing heavily once the doors were shut by Sunburst’s magic. “You okay, Mom?”
“Why wouldn’t I be!” Stellar said. “You’ve been so alert, so thoughtful. And this day has been perfect.” Yet her gaze was going everywhere but in the direction of her son.
Lowering his voice, Sunburst went on. “Is this about me not doing you before? Because-”
"I just want this moment to last forever, Sunbun. That’s all I've ever wanted.”
But no matter how hard she willed it, the haze of her mind requested to clear. It was official; she was losing her memory of that time. Of all the ones she’d had fading from her mind, this was the one she never wanted to lose. Apparently, Stellar Flare had happened upon one of the few issues that magic couldn’t fix. Lucky me, she bitterly thought.
Sunburst was confused. Stellar was concerned about the memorability? Well, judging by her words, Sunburst was doing it - so why was it “Oh my.” A piece of the puzzle slid into place for Sunburst. finally realizing just why Stellar had needed prompting on the play’s name, her lengthier dressing routine.
“N-no," she said. And despite it being the truth, her loins clenched hungrily at the thought of how it’d feel, being taken by that impossibly large trunk of a dick. And whether that would be gone tomorrow.
The air left Stellar’s lungs slowly, as she turned to face Sunburst. “Well... no not exactly. I think I’ve been having amnesia, my wonderful son.”
First Date, One Year Ago/4:00 PM
Stellar Flare had always wondered just how an indoor fire-work performance could ever live up to the hype. She’d preferred open-air plans and sunlight-amplified colors in the housing designs for a reason: there were some things no amount of magic could imitate in most of her houses
Leave it to Firelight to keep surprising her, even after their breakup. Fire Flare had used the stage walls themselves to bounce the shots of the firework cannons off of, the glowing contrails adding to the art of the explosions. Soo, the air was thick with fizzlers spelling Fire Flare’s initials, those of Stellar and Firelight, anything anypony could shout up.
Then right this moment she’d called for a volunteer; a powerful unicorn to assist her for one of her trickier performances. The fact that the other peonies would be treated to a fantastic show-ender was secondary. “Promise.” Fire Flare said, her grin betraying her giddiness.
Sunburst almost looked ready to have a cardiac when Fire Flare’s hoof pointed at her. Just as Stellar was about to offer herself for the job, Sunburst’s “Alright then,” hit with all the force of a Sonic Rainboom.
Even after all he went through, he still wanted to enjoy life. And as Stellar watched him shimmy on stage, his mane as much of a busy mess as his grin, Stellar could relate to that feeling.
“Sure you made the right decision now?” Firelight asked courteously as Sunburst and Fire Flare fired off their new array of crimson split-end rockets.
“Always. And you?”
“...Yes.”
Stellar chuckled at the hesitation in Firelight’s voice. But they watched the bangs and cracks of the performance in silence, nevertheless.
Then Sunburst’s left hoof was raised in celebration, and well, Stellar felt another unicorn named Flare could easily raise the other forehoof. Sunburst tried to get out a “Moooom!” but couldn’t past all his bountiful laughter.
Frankly, neither could anypony watching. It was a fitting way to end such an explosive event. For that moment, there wasn’t a ‘rich kid’ and ‘helicopter mare’ - just Stellar and Sunburst, and the eye-catching show of a lifetime.
Anniversary Date, Present/4:45 PM
“The final course will be coming soon.”
Sunburst nodded without looking at him. Again, his eyes were intently locked on Stellar as she mopped up her chin. That she’d used her magic for all her utensil work made Sunburst’s mind whir - how long had this happened, that he hadn’t noticed?
Shaking her head as she noticed Sunburst’s eyes burning into it, Stellar finally spoke. “One month after my breakup with Firelight. No, nopony caused it. Yes, it was before our first date.”
“Look, Mo-thank you.” Sunburst said, sidetracked by the final meal of snail shepherd’s pie laid in front him. Before, that flaky, buttery crust would have had him drooling. Not now. “Mom, is this why you wanted so long to prepare for our date?”
“No, Sunburst.” The soft chik of ceramic signaled Settler's clam chowder, the frothy fog it brought making her look like Oz. A looming magical titan, ready to hand Sunburst some courage. “Waiting till the town was ready to take you into its heart, like I did mine - that’s why I waited.”
“But if I knew, Mom, I could have helped. I could have gotten Prince Shining and Princess Cadance-"
“It’s memory loss, Shining, not a Shadow Pony. Their efforts could only have gone so far.”
“But-”
“I am only eight years older than you, Shining, you were in your entrance exams at the Empire.” Stellar peered through the fog, her stern eyes cutting into Sunburst’s. “You would have dropped them for me, we both know it and we both would have regretted it.”
“Mom-” Under her wilting gaze, Sunburst finally took his fork and cowed down a chunk of pie. Even the luxurious taste couldn’t give him the confidence to lie. “Okay, fine, I would have, but-”
“You are not to put anything on hold on account of me, Sunburst- especially not your future.” Stellar’s voice was clipped, certain, cerebral. “I only want what's best for you. And knowing that you’re all that you can be in the greatest export center in Equestria, makes this all worth it.”
Sunburst fought back a tear. “I… I just want to make sure this is the best time of our lives.”
“So do I! And through this, you've guaranteed it.”
“For how long-”
“As long as I can.” Ignoring Sunburst’s dropped jaw, Stellar went on. “Ailments like these, setbacks like this… I can bear them. But letting you destroy yourself for me; that would have destroyed me. That’s why I kept this from you. My fear is not that I will forget this moment. It is that you will settle for being my caretaker… since you think you can never be my lover.”
“But, your life… your time with me…” Sunburst begged. I don’t want to lose it, either.”
“And you won’t. Which means, thanks to you, I won’t.” Stellar Flare took Sunburst’s forehooves in hers. Pushing their plates to the side, her white hoof stroked over his, the sensation more warming than any soup. “Anything I’ve learned as a developer, it’s this: Life isn’t some store we spruce up to induce happiness. Happiness is what we ponies bring to life. As much as we can, for as long as we can. We are not the only players on that stage.”
“You said yourself that you wanted this to last the rest of your life, though,” Sunburst sniffled. “If I can find a way to keep this moment permanent…”
“Then we keep coming together until it sticks. Life’s biggest value is because of how short it is!“ Stellar thumped the tale, the soup sloshing dangerously in its cradle. “In the end, we all let go of parts of our life eventually. That it’s involuntary in my case makes me want to make every bit of happiness I share more vivid. Every bit I receive, more vivid. So, Sunburst, my wonder, darling stud of a son…” Stellar finished. “Do you want to make it more vivid with me?”
Sunburst pushed a hoof at his red-rimmed yes, then looked at Stellar. Again, he studied every inch of her: from her longer shoulder-dusting mane to her richly swathed body. Then he looked deeper, the way Starlight had encouraged him to on their first shared revisit to Sire’s Hollow. And he only saw that boundless sense of wonder. Amazement. Determination, burning behind her eyes like a rainbow.
No matter the age, Stellar was as fine a wine as the one topping her glass. And nothing aroused Sunburst more than seeing how dogged she was in sharing her time with him. Goodness, he felt bold now, ready to conquer anything. Like his doubts about satisfying Stellar.
To Tartarus with how long she remembers.
Sunburst stood up from his seat, ignoring the bump ringing out at his end of the table as his hips rose around it. “I’m ready, Mom.”
Stellar’s eyes flickered to the tent prodding at Sunburst’s legs. The cloak was only barely keeping him decent. “So I can see…” she whistled. “Perhaps we finish this date at home then?”
“Gladly. Check, please?”
Before the waiter could get past the sea of tables, Stellar popped out a big bag of bits. Tossing it onto the waiter’s plate, she swiftly moved from the table, her soup barely touched. “Keep the change, dear.” Before the waiter could get back to all fours - or thank Stellar for putting out more for a meal than ‘Bistro Bo’Vine’ made in a year - the two copper-coated ponies were gone.
First Date, 1 Year Ago/5:10 PM
“You sure you had to port us back, Mom?”
Stellar wiped another layer of sweat from her brow, willing her shaking shoulders to get stable before she flipped the light-switch to the mudroom. “No. But I figured the fans needed another light flash, so why not?”
It was a half-truth, but thankfully, Sunburst didn’t push it. “Right. So. Then…” Sunburst pulled his scarf away from a hook in the dimly-lit room, slipped it over his shoulders, then turned to the door. “I’m… sorry, the date couldn’t have gone better.”
“Who says it’s over yet, silly?” Stellar chuckled, loosening her bowtie.
“The ponies who saw me pass out right where they once hoisted me on their shoulders, for starters.”
And there it was. Stellar sucked in her break as she turned to face her son. “And which they will again, once they see how wonderful it is to have a success story like yours.”
Sunburst shifted uncomfortably. “Seems I’m a party of one in that regard.”
“If this is because somepony thinks you’re bad for being set for life, I’d like...”
“It’s about ‘that pony’ being right!” Sunburst got out through a gate of gritted teeth. “Goodness… Mom, look at them! I certainly didn’t; not until I rushed home because you came calling!”
“Again ,Sunburst, there’s was nothing I could have -”
“One request to Cadance and this town’s drowning in tours money! You’ve got the amazing developmental sense, I have the hometown full of ponies desperate to reintegrate into Equestria! Only way that equation isn’t solved… is because I didn’t care enough to solve it.” His head hung lower. ”Goodness, even Starlight made another town.”
Stellar’s mouth opened.
“Yeah, barring the whole ‘went cuckoo and tried to harvest its cutie marks’ thing. Look, point is, she’s better now. I just pretend I am in an overstocked library.”
“Don’t blame yourself for this, Sunburst.” Stellar pointed out. “I’ve tried to handle this myself, too! But there’s only so much I can go through the budget I can buttress alone!”
Sunburst didn’t speak.
Stellar moved closer, but didn’t put a hoof onto his shoulder yet. Her beloved clearly needed space. “It’s only a slight downturn, honey. We go through waves of these almost yearly, when most of the summer crowd goes out. It’s a part of life, uncomfortable as it may be.”
“Doesn’t mean it has to be.
“Sunburst Caliban Flare, you will stop right this instant.”
Sunburst went stock-still. Full-name-invoking-Stellar was a Stellar he didn’t want to cross.
“Feeling sorry for an event you knew of eight hours prior is no way to go through life. And more importantly, it isn’t the way your royal employers would go through life, either," Stellar said. “I am your partner. As such, I would appreciate you remembering that you were on a date. One that ended with you doing something that will elevate you in the eyes of three alicorn princesses instead of one.”
“Now, if you want me to, I’ll-.’
“No suing, Mom.” Sunburst pointed out.
“Have a nice dinner…” Stellar finished, cocking an eyebrow.
Sunburst winced. “Oh. Sorry. Did it again. But… thank you anyway. I just... Well, you've done so much for this place, I know it. And seeing that there’s still issues like this blowing rampant-”
“-Means my work isn’t done yet,” Stellar finished. “And I welcome that challenge. Like you should welcome this one, if you so desire, Not wither in the face of one You didn’t when it was threatening the Empire did you?”
Sunburst’s heart swelled in remembrance of that event. “No, Mom.”
“Then tackle that task at your own time. That, however, is for when you’re back in an arena where you can change it. For now, you’re on break. And again, on an unfinished date. Now let dear Stellar Flare put your doubts to rest.” Like you did mine, Stellar didn’t add.
S-sure thing, Mom.” Untucking his scarf, Sunburst slowly ventured into the kitchen. Only to be stopped by a white-furred hoof.
“Again, Sunburst, where are you going?” Stellar purred. "Dinner will be brought to you in your bed, which I’ve taken the time to make up.”
“But-”
“Is the part of me you’ll be plowing tomorrow. You still have a day of vacation left, Sunbun.” Steller trotted off into the kitchen, her wily smirk making Sunburst blush. “And I’m using it.”
Anniversary Date, Present/5:11 PM
Both ponies fell into the mudroom in a red-and-orange tangle, their lips glued to each other’s. Forehooves roamed lecherously over barrels, and when Stellar’s found Sunburst’s raging hard-on, the feel was so electrifying her knees buckled.
Right onto the floor went Sunburst and Stellar, the mare soon topping as they rolled on the floor. Sunburst was already shoving off a strap of Stellar’s dress before they broke off, panting huskily into each other’s faces.
Sunburst’s mind scrambled for a response. “Nevermind, you’re right… eating in is way better.”
“Damn sure is.” whispered Stellar. “Now, if we only had a proper setting.”
Sunburst’s horn lit up instantly. Within a second, they were both in the kitchen again, Stellar falling on her back on the table. Almost instantly, Stellar’s hindlegs spread for her mate, the evening light bathing her in an ethereal glow. Her forehooves were busy pulling up her dress hem, showing off her dripping loins.
Sunburst’s mouth went dry instantly. No matter how they plowed, she somehow found a way to make each time enchanting.
“Ready when you are,” she gasped. Her mind reeled in hopes that he’d finally slam that beautiful ramrod in her. Rutting her in a way that every whiff of the table would remind her of; that’d be a perfect end of this perfect date.
Sunburst, however, had other plans. He sank to his knees in front of her, propping her rearhooves on his shoulders. Her legs quivered, but Stellar lay still, wondering about his next move. He’d surprised her plenty today, after all.
“I… well, I figured, since you started our time here so… sensually,” Sunburst began. “That I should, well…” Then he swallowed a wad of saliva, pushed his snout to Stellar’s clit, and-
“F-fuck yes, Sunny! Yes!” Stellar’s hooves, busy keeping her dress up, buried their way into Sunburst’s mane. Despite it being his first run at cunnilingus, Sunburst was amazing! His licks were long and languid, tasting every drop of sweet nectar she spurted into his mouth.
Slowly, his hooves kneaded into her flanks, pushing into the pillowy skin. Stellar recognized the circular pattern he drew into her cutie marks; a brain-focusing exercise she'd taught him a decade ago. Well, it was proving is fucking worth in spade, with his licks becoming more supple by the second. Soon, he was stirring her clit into twitching fits.
“Ohhhh…” Stellar muttered, closing her eyes. Her moans echoed around the room, mini-sonnets to his skill at spearing her folds.
At this point, Stellar was hooked on Sunburst again, her hind legs soon wrapping around his head too. The soft thunk of his goateed chin bumping against the table was drowned out the hungry slurps of his tongue, around Stellar’s clit.
Then Sunburst pulled back, making a roar bubble form her maw. “So... worth skipping lunch for?”
It’s worth sawing off MY HORN for! Stellar didn’t bellow into his face. “So good," she got out before he pulled back from her soaked snatch. Then in one thrust, his tone plugged into her, her folds quivering against his tongue.
Stellar’s rump slid on the shining tablecloth as she wildly humped her Sunburst’s face. Again and again, her loins were squished against her maw. Each time Sunburst’s tongue seemed to go deeper, stretch wider, burn the memory in her head brighter. Soon, her twat was coiling around that intruding tongue. Her legs were shuddering around Sunburst’s face so hard, she could see his cheeks puff out. She could hear his drool spatter to the ground. And both only made her grind her crotch against him faster, her calves now sliding against his horn.
Sparks flew from that appendage as her impromptu hornjob continued, the neon light reminding Stellar of that Fire Flare show. A year ago. Oh Celestia, a year ago! Like a dying ember, her mind closed around that thought, coveting it. And just as it ended, she was thrust back to the present, as his tongue thrust deep enough to brush against her G-spot.
And Stellar finally came undone.
“S-sunbun, oh fuuuuuck~!”
That mental picture burst into a thousand stars before her eyes and she could care less. What mattered was what she felt, and it was like a hundred thousand fireworks blowing though her body. Her orgasm punched through her, Sunburst soon gurgling around her slit as her crystal juices flooded his mouth. And through it all, his hooves never stopped rotating in her flanks, making her orgasm continue on as they bucked against each other.
Soon, Stellar’s legs went limp, scraping over the table as she greedily gulped down air. Her head was too reclined to see Sunburst pull back from her clit, but he soon cracked her eyes again as he rose up. It wasn’t until she heard his member slap against the underside of the table that she felt life surge back into her screaming muscles again.
“Ready for seconds, Sunbun….” she heaved out, her thighs sliding lightly around his hips.
“Oh. Great.” The growl, that utterly unnatural growl that passed his ragged throat, made Steller’s wilds dilate with want. Her horn blazed with amber light, and they were suddenly on her bed. No guest room needed, Stellar wanted more. She wanted this night to be as easy to remember as the dreams she’d have after.
Assuming they even got any sleep tonight.
With a world, Stellar was on top again. Soon, she had Sunburst on his back on the scarlet satin. Right in front of her drooling clit, fourteen inches of rigid stallionhood bobbed anticipatingly.
“No-no fair, Mo-” Stellar’s forehoof popped right into his gullet as he spoke, swirling around as he slowly lapped at its point Then it was Stellar's turn as she brought that hoof to her lips. The sweet scent of her cum and his drool nearly made her tongue stick to the roof of her mouth. But as it was, she needed more of Sunburst’s fluid in another part of her.
One sorcerous snap! later, and Stellar had a bottle of lube in her hoof. Soon, that stream was drizzled over Sunburst’s shaft, the cloying scent of strawberries soon running thick in the room. “I’m sorry, Sunbun, what did you say?” taunted Stellar, waiting until the cock before her was coated crimson before raising her hips above it.
“Please….” he begged, trying to bring up his hips to meet him.
After several seconds of letting his cocktip grind deliciously against her pussy, Stellar stalled his hips with another magical field. “Well, since you’ve clearly gone without something hearty today…” Her horn’s aura soon spread to his stiff member, holding it right up at his clit. And then she let gravity take its course, her hips dropping onto his dick.
Both ponies screamed, long and low, as Sunburst’s cock was suddenly engulfed in that hearth between Steller’s legs. Inch after inch, Stellar squirmed on him, taking him in mercilessly.
Sunburst couldn't’ believe it, after all this time. With his stallionhood milked by her spasming snatch, Sunburst was stuck between helping her impale herself and soaking in that moment. But soon, Stellar solved that dilemma for him, as she pulled herself up. The second she was right at the edge of his cockhead sliding out, Stellar dropped her rump again.
And two wet pops! signaled his ramrod being taken to the hilt.
For a minute, Sunburst blanked out. The wet plaps of Stellar and his hip rising up to meet each thrust, kept him aware of just what he was doing. And with who - nopony but Stellar could lake his heart jackhammer in it’s chest with a single smoldering look. Every other sense of his, though? They were on their own, lost in the wake of her lust.
Stellar, for one, couldn’t think of any moment that could compare to this, past or future. Electricity buzzed through her as their hips pistoned against one another, her g-spot being relentlessly smacked. Half of the room’s objects were writhing in the air thanks to her fizzling horn, giving their romp an ethereal backdrop. And yet, all that occupied Stellar's mind was Sunburst’s face, his mouth a silent O’, his eyes molten fire as they roamed over her body.
It was perfect and she never wanted it to stop. Yet all too soon it did. Her body trembled like a leaf, and she soon found herself hugging Sunburst to her as they went chest-to-chest. His cock plowed into her like a fresh strawberry field, the sound of their colliding crotches ringing richly in her ears. And the overpowering smell of Sunburst’s musk plugging into her nostrils made Stellar want to cry at how heavenly it felt.
Heaven, apparently, had a back-door too.
One last thrust later, and Sunburst’s teeth sank into Stellar’s shoulder, to keep half of Sire’s Hollow from hearing him climax. His cum fountain fired off, filling Stellar’s womb within seconds. Every other spurt started dribbling out of her backed pussy with the force, bathing the sheets in ribbons of pearly pink as the lube and seed soaking into the sheets.
Right after Sunburst, Stellar came a second time. Though, that could better be called a cumulative orgasm, as her hips thrashed uncontrollably over Sunburst’s. Her juicy clit geysered around Sunburst’s crotch, even with the foot-long fuckstick in the way. Even Stellar’s screams soon lost themselves in the pillows splayed around their twitching bodies.
The second it ebbed, the resounding thumps of several items - including the mattress itself - brought their eyes open. Stellar was the first to let out a giggle, through several layers of cotton got in her muzzle’s way. The pillows had torn on the way down.
“W-wow….” Sunburst got out at long last, his hips still feebly swiveling around Stellar's. “So. Um…. do we keep going?”
“Maybe. For now though?” And Stellar summoned out a glass of merlot, slowly bringing it to Sunburst’s face as she pulled herself up with the other hoof. “Water break.”
“Only you.” Sunburst joked, as he looked at the glass. Slowly, he brought his lips to it, slurping at the alcohol. “Could call this water.”
“Heh.” Stellar giggled. “Well, Sunbun, we only have a day to get this out of our system.”
Sunburst stopped sipping at that. “You… don't know, Mom?”
Stellar’s eyes narrowed.
“Right. Rephrasing. Hearts and Hooves is in two days. I’ve got a three-day weekend.”
Stellar was motionless for a minute, before an utterly nefarious grin nearly spilt her maw in two. Some slips in memory were great to discover, apparently. “Well then, Sunbun, allow me to thank you for the reminder."
Her hips flicked, and Sunburst was looming over Stellar with a sudden Flumph.
