Unexpected Arrival

Chapter 2

    It was still dark when Wolf felt something fuzzy rub up against his chest. He didn’t know (or care) what was snuggling up to him at the moment. But he slung his arm over the fuzzy object anyways, and held it closer to his chest. But at that moment Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were waking up.

“Still dark out...” Dash speculated.

“I wonder why... The sun should be up right now.” Fluttershy questioned, backing behind Dash.

    “What are you hiding from, Flutters?” Rainbow Dash asked.

    “Force of habit, heheh...” Fluttershy chuckled.

    “Aww, it’s ok Flutters.” Dash apologized.

    At that moment Wolf muttered something that probably made infinitely more sense in his dreams.

    “D’aww, look.” Fluttershy pointed. At that moment Wolf was hugging the wolf pup and Spectra close to his chest.

    “They must like him!” Dash remarked.

    “Ya don’t say...” Wolf muttered, regaining consciousness. “Why is it so dark...?”

    “I don’t know... It should be daytime by now...” Dash muttered.

    “Well the little ones are still tired. But we should get moving, where’s the closest town?” Wolf asked. Almost to prove his point, Spectra yawned and snuggled closer to the wolf pup.

    “What should we name the wolf thingy, Wolf?” Fluttershy asked.

    “I don’t know, is it a male or a female?” Wolf asked.

    “It’s a female.” Fluttershy answered.

    “Well then... how about Onyx?” Wolf asks.

    “Like the gem?” Dash asks.

    “Yeah.”

    “Well that’s a pretty name for a pretty wolfy.” Fluttershy said.

    “Onyx it is, let’s get walking.” Wolf said as he picked up Spectra and Onyx. “Lead the way.”

    So the group headed towards the town. The full moon shining overhead. Wolf was getting bored of the silence so he decided to say something.

    “Gah, my back hurts...” He complained.

    “Take off your shirt then, let me see.” Fluttershy asks.

    Wolf sets down the Spectra and Onyx and takes off his shirt.

    “No wonder! You have a terrible scar, and you must’ve slept on your wings all night!” Fluttershy exclaimed.

    “Wings?!” Wolf exclaimed, looking at his back. There was indeed a terrible (although cool looking) scar on his back. Along with a pair of magnificent wings.

    “What, you never knew you had wings?” Dash asked.

    “No I did not... but i don’t really remember anything.” Wolf explained.

    “Well, why can’t we just fly home?” Dash asked.

    “Well... I’m not very good at flying, and i doubt Wolf is either... no offence.” Fluttershy explained.

    “None taken, and yes, I don’t know how to fly.” Wolf agrees.

    “Damn...” Dash complained.

    “Well let’s keep walking,” Wolf said as he picked up Spectra and Onyx again. “we have a ways to go.”

    “Not really, our house is right there.” Fluttershy pointed to her cottage.

    “Oh........” Wolf muttered and walked over to the cottage.

    Fluttershy opened the door and walked inside with Rainbow Dash. Wolf followed suit.

    “Nice place you got here.” Wolf commented.

    “Thanks.” Fluttershy and Dash thanked.

    At that moment there was a knock on the door.

    “Who is it?” Dash asked.

    “It’s Luna, may we come in?” She asked.

    “Yeah sure.” Dash said as she grabbed a bottle of something from the fridge.

    “How do you hold that?” Wolf asked.

    “Magic.” She replied as she opened the bottle and took a swig. The label read ‘AppleJack Daniels.’ “Want some, Wolf?” She asked.

    “What is it?” Wolf asked as Luna and a purple unicorn mare walked in.

    “It’s AppleJack Daniels.” She responded.

    “I can see that much but what is it?” He asked again.

    “Oh, it’s an alcoholic beverage.”

    “Oh, sure.” Wolf said. Dash tossed him a bottle. “Bottoms up.”

    The drink burned as it went down his throat.

    “Ahem...” Luna coughed.

    “Oh, sorry princess.” Dash apologized.

    “No apology needed,” She replied. “you may have noticed the ‘late night.’”

    “Yeah, so?” Dashed asked, wanting to get to the point.

    “Well, me and Twilight are starting a new republic...” She paused. “The New Lunar Republic.” She continued. “And we’d like it if you would join.”

    “Me?” Wolf slurred, the alcohol already taking effect.

    “What are you?” Luna asked.

    “I dunno!” He giggled.

    “Wow, what a lightweight!” Dash exclaimed.

    “Err... Dash?” Twilight asked, examining Wolf’s unconscious form.

    “Yeah?” She asked.

    “That was Vodka.”

    “Shit...” She swore under her breath.

    “Oh my... Is he still alive?” Fluttershy whispered as she came down from Spectra’s room.

    “Hm... Yeah...” Twilight said, checking Wolf’s pulse.

    “How?” Luna asked, curious how someone could withstand that much alcohol.

    “Hm... He probably has a larger liver than the average pony...” Twilight exclaimed as she kept examining Wolf’s body. She poked his side and he mumbled something unintelligible.  “He’ll be fine, but he’ll have an awful hangover when he wakes up.” She continued.

    “Back to the topic at hoof. Will you join the NLR?” Luna asked again.

    “I don’t know... How will you run things?” Dash asked.

    “Like how it is now... With a few ‘minor’ changes.” Luna answered.

    “Liiiiiiiiiiiike?” Dash asked.

    “Well, for one, we’ll allow same sex marriage.” Luna answered.

    “Really?!” Dash exclaimed.

    “Yes, you and Fluttershy could get married, and your foal would not need to be a secret.” Luna answered.

    “Sweet!” Dash exclaimed.

    “Yay!” Fluttershy exclaimed in a soft cheer.

    “Wait... will it be night time forever?” Dash asked.

    “Oh, no. Night will be longer, yes, but not eternal.” Luna explained.

    “Oh, that’s fine then.” Dash said. “In that case, we’ll join.”

    “Hmmmm.... Join what...?” Wolf asked groggily.

    “The New Lunar Republic.”

    “Oh that thing... Yeah that’s fine.” He yawned.

    “Dude, are you ok?” Dash asked.

    “Yeah, I’m fine. Just a small headache.” He elaborated.

    “Well that’s good, come with us to  town hall.”

    “Why?”

    “Because, everyone in ponyville has joined the NLR, we now technically ‘own’ this city.” Twilight smirked.

    “Wow, nice non-hostile takeover.” Wolf commented.

“WELL THANK THOUI I HOPE YOU ENJOY THE NEW LUNAR REPUBLIC!” Luna boomed in her ‘Royal Canterlot Voice.’

    At that moment, crying was heard.

    “...”

    “Opps... heheh...” Luna muttered.

    “It’s fine Luna, i’ll go get them...” Fluttershy sighed.

    A moment later Fluttershy reappeared with Spectra and Onyx.

    “What’s this little thing?” Twilight pondered.

    “We think she’s some sort of winged canine.” Dash stated.

    “Ya don’t say?” Twilight sarcastically responded.

    “Hahaha, whatever. We named her ‘Onyx.’” Wolf replied.

    “Aww that’s cute.”

    Fluttershy set the foal and the pup down and went over to the kitchen to cook something up. The pup decided to try and walk over to Twilight. It hobbled over, stumbling a few time, and pawed at her leg.

    “D'awww” Twilight squee’d.

    “‘D’awww’ indeed.” Wolf said as he picked up Onyx. “What are you doing?” Wolf asked Onyx. He did not expect an answer.

    “Who is purple pony?” Onyx asked.

    “She talks?!” Everyone gasped. Twilight was the first to regain her composure.

    “I’m Twilight.” She answered.

    Onyx proceed to boop her on the nose. “You’re funny.”

    “Awww, thanks, who are you?” Twilight asked.

    “Didn’t you hear what daddy said? I’m Onyx.” She said childishly.

    “Daddy?” Twilight asked, looking directly at Wolf.

    “Errr... Not at birth...” Wolf said, looking equally confused.

    At that moment Spectra decided to step in.

    “But you saved her.” She said in baby words.

    “Really?” They all asked.

    “Yeah, she told me all about it when you guys were sleeping.”

    “D’aww- I mean, really?” Wolf asked.

    “Yeah, you’re my daddy to me!” Onyx said and licked Wolf in the face.

    “Well, since i’m your daddy, and you can talk, YOU have to goto school!” Wolf exclaims, poking Onyx in the tummy.

    “Ok, daddy!” She giggled.

    “Speaking of school...” Dash said slowly. “YOU have to go to, Spectra!” Dash exclaimed.

    “Ok mommy.” She giggled as Dash pounced on her. Spectra then nuzzled into Dash’s neck. Everyone had to resist the urge to ‘D’awww.’

    “Well, now that’s all settled, let’s go over to town hall.” Luna suggested.

    “Sounds good to me.”
