Nearly ten millennia have passed since the horror of Old Night fell across the galaxy, and the planet of Equus has, in some respects, fared worse than the rest of the galaxy.

Twilight Sparkle still lives amidst the blood and horror of a galaxy gone mad. She hasn't seen her fellow immortals in millennia and is slowly losing hope that they still live.

In the midst of tracking a group of slavers in the Everfree Dustbowl, Twilight comes across their camp but finds she is too late to save the ponies held captive. But not too late to avenge.

In the aftermath, though, Twilight finds a new reason to continue on, and a new reason to live. If only for the newborn filly she now cares for.

For in the grim darkness of the 30th millennium, friendship is still magic.
