There was always a look of surprise sent her way whenever she ordered whiskey. A raised eyebrow, a small start- some would even ask if she was sure. Bourbon, perhaps? Or wine instead? Celestia knew they were meaning no harm, simply judging by appearances. A more refined air that came from dress and expression, the intangibles that were not so easily disregarded. In another life, someone might have thought she was of nobler blood, a sophistication that was given by birth rather than earned. No, she would have to tell them. Simply a mere woman, principal of a school a few miles from here. Not an ounce of remarkability or social status to hold to her name.
Besides, she would eventually have to admit to herself- it’s not like anyone wanted to know in the first place. After all, she’d come here alone. Most women her age either had a marriage in some sense of stability or a divorce; children either flown from the nest or preparing to do so. Celestia was here alone, nothing to adorn her fingers besides the condensation that had melted from her glass and onto the digits that held it within her palm. Was she depressed by those thoughts? It had become too normal for her to hold any great feeling about it. Morose? Perhaps a little.
“Just you tonight, ma’am?” The bartender, a homely man and seeming just a bit older than she, paused before her as he went down the line to assess the needs and comfort of his customers.
“Just me tonight,” Celestia replied, serene with just a hint of kindness in every word. It was her means of formality that she used often, a disarming of potential negatives and allowing friendlier conversation. “Is that a surprise?”
“I guess not, ma’am. Just wouldn’t think you’re the type to be solitary, that’s all.”
“Oh, and why’s that?”
The bartender shrugged. “You’re tall, slender, and good-looking, ma’am. That’s usually considered something good to be.”
Celestia gave a laugh that held a tinge of bitterness before turning to the last of her drink and letting stream down her throat. “Maybe ten years ago, it would have.” Or fifteen. “But I think that sort of thing is a little too far gone now.”
The bartender took his turn to chuckle, taking her empty glass and putting it aside. “Never say never, ma’am. I’ve been at this job long enough to see more than one romance blossom.”
“Even with someone like me?” Celestia was pleasant, gently teasing. She knew better than to let someone keep her hopes bolstered, but the kind words weren’t unwelcome.
“Especially with somebody like you,” he answered. “Feel like another?”
“A glass slipper, if you don’t mind.”
“Yes ma’am. Be right back.”
Celestia sighed as he walked further down the bar to chat and check in with other customers both new and stationary alike, leaving the melancholy spirit of female form to relax in the cold blue of her solitude- or was it instead loneliness? At this point, she found it difficult to differentiate the two when it was so easy for one to become the other. And, if she were a little more honest with herself, she’d probably already had more to drink than she should have allowed. Take your time, enjoy each one lazily, she’d always told herself. Instead, she’d been a bit more willing to soak in her alcoholic endeavors and let an unhappy mind drift away like a ship on the seas. Not her normal, well-controlled self at all.
As the slow, peaceful sound of piano and bass that made jazz so irresistible filtered its way into her eager ears, another sigh crept through Celestia’s slender form and escaped across her lips like a wisp of mist in the morning. Eyes took in her surroundings of the quiet, comfortably lit lounge in which she found herself, the room at large marked by tables that all seemed to hold a pair that had only eyes for one another. Celestia’s smile was dimmed, though its presence did not fade. A tinge of envy at such things couldn’t be helped. She wouldn’t have minded to have a life like that, even alongside her career. Someone to come home to, to hold and to cherish, someone with whom she could enjoy all sorts of romantic silliness that seemed to come and take hold of all those who were in love. She enjoyed her life, what she did, and even now she enjoyed herself as the sounds of quiet music intertwined with the unintelligible chatter of human comfort and conversation. She just would have liked to have someone who could enjoy it as much as she did.
A tremor somewhere behind her, likely someone taking a seat at one of the bar stools. Celestia didn’t turn about to see who, though she perhaps wondered why one would be so close when there was so much room along the line. But why make a judgement? It wasn’t as though there was any need for it. All that needed to be done here was drink, be cheered, and let the music soften the dull ache.
“Your glass slipper, ma’am,” the bartender called, loosening Celestia from the holds of her dreary monologues as he slid a dark-gold glass of liquor to her awaiting hand.
“Thanks, Buck.” Celestia turned herself back to fully face the darkened wood bar and claim her drink, the corner of her eye taking her attentions for a brief moment as she looked to her right and took a glance at her unpredicted companion. Shades of a violet dress and long orange hair; a young woman, if she were guessing right. “And this will be my last, you can close me out for the night.”
“Let hers be on me,” came the unexpected sound of a melodious voice, and two pairs of eyes turned from glass and liquid to the young woman that had decided to join in. “And I’ll take… black and gold, please.”
Buck seemed taken aback by this random outpouring of generosity, but his duty was to serve customers and make drinks rather than question who paid for what. A shrug of his shoulders and he turned back to the wall of liquors that were held on the shelves behind him and set to work.
Celestia realized this wasn’t to be some passing by of strangers, instead a conversation borne of goodwill. She regarded her newest companion and found herself a bit taken aback by her appearance: orange hair that fell like a silken wave down to a slim waist, skin that was just the tinge of tan and smooth as glass, shapely breasts that called for attention beneath a form-fitting dress, an exquisite face that held an alluring smile and darkened eyes that possessed just the smallest gleam within their violet gaze. This being of particularly loveliness, so close and seemingly so eager to begin that singular dance, was disarming.
“And here I was thinking you might get away from me,” the young woman said, her voice as sultry and silken as the warmth of summer nights. “I hope you don’t mind… I just couldn’t let a sexy thing like you walk away without me saying hello.”
Celestia’s first reaction was not her proudest. The sound of that voice was like music to her ears and the words that came with it only intensified the sensation. She thought of herself as calm, controlled, but tonight had seen fit to throw that aside. She knew she was blushing and it had to be stopped before she actually did lose control of herself.
“It’s certainly not unwelcome,” Celestia replied, tossing back her hair in the hopes the motion would soothe her decaying nerves. “I hope my night’s fun isn’t too much for you to handle.”
The young woman gave a small, swift sound of good humor. “Trust me, beautiful, I would be more than happy to handle you. You’d only have to say the word.”
Celestia, now expecting something of the like, was able to control her reactions a little better this time around. “What a kind thing to say- yet you don’t even know my name.”
“I was hoping that wouldn’t be the only thing about you I’d find out tonight,” the woman said. “I’m Adagio, if that helps you feel more comfortable.”
Was that familiar? Something she’d heard before? Celestia wanted to say it was so, but couldn’t quite recall the how, when, or where. It felt like a long time ago yet not so long ago. It was the strangest sense of déjà vu she had ever felt, and it almost irritated her that she couldn’t figure out why. Yet here she was, talking to this lovely thing and rather enjoying it. A small taste of her drink and she decided to smile with a little more feeling, glad to see the measure returned in those darkened eyes. “Celestia,” she offered.
“Ooh, how lovely,” Adagio purred. “Now that is the sort of name I’d like to say as I’m tangled in bedsheets. Now if only you’ll oblige.”
Celestia rolled her eyes, the woman’s blatant intent more humorous than offensive. It wasn’t like she minded attention. “And I bet you say that to all the girls,” she said carelessly.
“And why would I want a girl?” Adagio countered. “I prefer a woman, if you must know. The difference is… succulent.”
Adagio, it seemed, had no issue speaking her mind at all. Her desire was clear as day and she hardly allowed her gaze to drift from anything that was not Celestia, even when her darkened liquor was placed just at the edge of her fingertips. Those lidded eyes openly betrayed her hunger, the likes of which Celestia had never seen before. At least, she thought, not in regards to herself. It was rather daunting, even if the feeling was pleasant.
“Then please,” Celestia said, taking another sip of drink and turning her body so as to fully engage with her suitor. “Since you seem to know the difference between a girl and a woman… enlighten me.”
Adagio shifted just a bit closer to the taller woman, a minute shift that allowed greater view of her cleavage. Breasts that seemed eager to reveal themselves for greater caress than what eyes could give-
“A girl is, if anything, vapid,” Adagio began, “little more than self-centered, overly emotional mush. I’m sure you’ve seen the like before.”
“On occasion.”
“Then you of course know a girl is loud. She is pretty and desirous, yet as useless as a picture of a painting. All glitz and glamour, but never once can she prove it. But a woman,” Adagio added with a gleam, “a woman lets her actions speak for her, once she speaks her claim. So soft… and firm. After all, a woman is always confident, isn’t she?”
Celestia laughed, flattered by the heavy words. “I’m sorry to disappoint you, then,” she said. “I’m afraid I’m not quite as confident as you think I am. At least not anymore.”
“Only because you need a refresher. A nice, physical reminder,” Adagio countered. “I’m sure you’d remember in a heartbeat.”
“And you’d like to be the one that reminds me, is that it?” Celestia asked. She wasn’t going to be taken that easily.
A hand found hers and held it gently, softly, a hint of touch that slid across now-willing fingers and used as an anchor to pull in more closely, Adagio closing the gap between she and her partner in less than the length of a heartbeat. “Oh, my dearest Celestia,” she whispered, “I don’t think I’d ever let you forget again.”
Celestia wanted this- and every rational part of her mind said that to be taken this easily was a sign of weak will. She was so close to her, the young woman’s breath kept cool by the strength of liquor yet given sweetness by the honey within. Those eyes flickered between Celestia’s gaze and the lips just below- if Adagio kissed her, she knew what little vestige of her will that still remained would be washed away. And she so desperately wanted to be kissed…
“But I’m keeping you, aren’t I?” Adagio asked, now backing away back to her seat. “Of course, I am, I shouldn’t have. I’ll have to make sure I come earlier next time.”
Celestia certainly wanted to be kept busy by this sensuous creature, but some small flare of reason that still had control in her brain said not yet, not yet. Not tonight, but soon- it had to be soon, she needed it to be soon. She wanted to see Adagio again, and perhaps do a little more than just look next time. “I suppose you’re right,” Celestia managed to finally say, polishing off the last of her drink before casting the class aside. “But I look forward to seeing you again.”
“Will I be lucky to find you tomorrow?” Adagio asked.
“Unfortunately, I cannot. A woman’s career demands an early morning, which means an early night before.”
“Pity. Patience has never been my virtue. Especially now, since I want you,” Adagio said with a sigh. A sudden flick of her fingers and a small piece of paper was in her hand before being swiftly transferred to Celestia’s. “For when you feel like making an appearance again, just let me know. I won’t want to miss it.”
A phone number. Celestia had been given a phone number, she could hardly believe it. She didn’t think she’d actually ever had such a thing happen before in all her life. “And here I was thinking I’d be having to wait on luck.”
“Please, darling,” Adagio said in silken tone, kissing Celestia’s delicate fingers before pushing the hand back against her body- a small trace of fingers along the older woman’s breasts before retreating. “I won’t wait on luck to see you again.”
Celestia smiled and walked towards the door, pausing to take one last glance at the statuesque figure of Adagio that remained in place at the bar, that deep violet dress a perfect match for the eyes that were now hidden away, a small smile on the young woman’s lips. Not an ounce of attention given to anyone else, not the slightest heed to any man or woman that passed by. It had all been for her alone.
Oh my.
Celestia hesitated. Was this even a good idea? She’d met the woman once, and not even really talked about much of anything at all. Only sweet nonsense that had set her spirit afire with a voracious hunger. Yes, Adagio had shared her number so they could meet again, but now that the weekend was here once more, she wasn’t sure. The time apart had been like cold water on a parched throat. It was just… too good to be true. But to see those dark eyes, that tempting smile, those breasts that so clearly called to be cherished and loved- Celestia needed to see this woman again.
Hope to see you tonight. I’ll be there about seven, she wrote out. A pause- maybe say more? No, she decided before hitting send. This was enough.
A few minutes passed in the span of an eternity and Celestia cursed herself when the sound of a reply came and made her heart skip a beat. She tried to hold back a little while, and then swiftly failed. She had to see what Adagio had said in return. Please still want me…

A small tremor, and a faint glow of happiness on her face. Why was she like this? This was the height of silly and Celestia knew it. But just to be near that woman was intoxicating, and she had hopes that she would be able to do more than just enjoy her public company-

She could have slapped herself. An idiotic thing to say, like a teenage girl that never learned how to shut up, and yet she’d blabbed aloud without even a moment’s thought. What a stupid thing to do!

Celestia blushed and decided that yes, she didn’t want to answer that question just yet. That was for another time.
The occasion called for a red dress this time, she decided. Something revealing, sensuous and strong so as to hopefully keep hold of Adagio’s attentions- after all, there were younger, fairer things than Celestia at the lounge. A dark red item, mermaid in form. When Celestia adorned herself in its sheath and gazed upon her figure in the mirror, she smiled. She was being pretty for a beautiful woman and she liked that thought very much.
She decided to take a ride rather than drive herself. Something told her that if she brought her own car, there it would remain all through the night and be forgotten in light of far more important matters. The entire time she rode along through darkened streets, her thoughts were at her destination and the one who would be there awaiting her. Those lovely eyes, those beckoning lips… should she initiate the first kiss, or let Adagio continue to take the lead? Should there be some show of will of her own at all, or perhaps simply enjoy the ride? There was some hesitancy still; maybe some mild resistance, even if done only for show, would be needed. After all, a lady couldn’t be seen as desperate or loose, could she?
Her arrival at the familiar sight of the jazz lounge was a bit later than she’d wished for, traffic keeping her on edge and eager for the journey to come to a close. Celestia wanted to see this woman, to feel those light fingers tracing the crying features of her body- but no, she’d need to hold some small level of will, she knew that full well. But to be taken by this woman was something she so dearly desired, even if she couldn’t quite say why…
“Ah, good evening, ma’am.” The sound of a friendly voice and she turned to see a host coming closer. “I was told to expect you, a young lady was looking for you.”
Delight leaped through her and she fought to keep it from sight. “Yes, I thought she might be,” Celestia replied. “Is she here already?”
“The table in the corner, ma’am, right of the stage.” Her eyes followed the order and saw the wave of orange hair that made her so deeply stand out, and Celestia failed to keep the smile from her face when she saw the hunger yet again in Adagio’s eyes. She had never felt this wanted.
Adagio’s smile widened as Celestia strode forward to join her. “Oh my,” she mused, “did you wear that dress just for me? I hope you say it’s so.”
“I hope it’s not too much,” Celestia said as she took a seat at the rounded table. “Truth be told, it’s been quite a while since I’ve worn something this nice.”
“Oh, my dear, it’s exquisite on you,” Adagio remarked, taking Celestia’s free hand and giving it a brief kiss. “But now all I wish to do is remove you from it. You tease me so.”
Celestia smiled, even more so when Adagio crept her way around the table to take a seat all the more close to her. Those breasts still called to her from beneath that dress, that voluptuous body needing to be touched and caressed by Celestia’ eager hands. But not yet, not yet.
“You don’t have to be so anxious around me, you know,” Adagio said kindly, leaning in ever so close. “I’d let you touch me if you want to- even right here and now.”
“And why would you want me to do that, mm?” Celestia inquired. “Don’t you think you could find somebody a little more your age that would make you much happier?”
Adagio looked genuinely hurt by the suggestion. “I hope you’re not saying that you can’t make me happy,” she said, “or that I’m somehow settling for less. Heaven knows I could hardly find anyone more desirable than you, dear.”
Celestia laughed, touched and exasperated by this clear willingness that could hardly take any sort of negativity to heart. “Flatterer,” she remarked. “Do you really think your pretty words are true?”
“I would never lie, my angel,” Adagio answered firmly, a solitary arm wrapping around Celestia’s waist and holding her close to her own form. “As if I could see you and forget you. How could I possibly want anyone else when I could have you?”
“Because you’re young and beautiful, and I bet you could have anyone you want,” Celestia said. “So why are you here sweet-talking a woman past her prime?”
“Because, my darling,” Adagio whispered, “I desperately want you. And now I want to remind you of something special… you haven’t even hit your stride.”
Celestia’s senses caught the gap was closing and she felt her breath catch. It was all happening so quickly-!
Just the softest brush; a quick, gentle peck of youthful lips that only gave a teasing kiss to tantalize and torment, and Celestia knew it. But oh how she’d wanted it, even if the only gift she were to receive was this tiny morsel of affection. There was the smallest tinge of sweetness there in the meeting, a small gleam of deeper pleasures if only she pursued them. But Celestia was starstruck, breath held captive in her lungs and her body left rigid by this beautiful woman’s slightest of touches.
“Well, my sweet?” Adagio asked playfully, her hand now tenderly brushing across Celestia’s concealed breasts. “Let me know if you need any more convincing.”
Celestia marveled at this woman. Adagio was perfectly willing to adore and tempt, yet for the life of her she couldn’t understand the reason behind it. The whole thing was so strange, unexpected, unusual. “But… but why?” she whispered.
“Because I’m obsessed with you, my sweet Celestia,” Adagio replied just as softly, “and I want you to know it.”
This kiss was unmistakable. No hesitancy, no ounce of reservation able to be found as Adagio pressed her lips deeply into Celestia’s with a delectable fervor that made the older woman sigh in unrepressed delight. That sweetness she had tasted now came in force, a honeyed sort of taste that was tinged by the slightest bitterness of alcohol, the delicate softness of the plump, firm mouth of Adagio still pressing a little deeper into her surprised, happy partner. The moment lasted just the perfect length, the dark-eyed woman retreating slowly and pulling Celestia’s lower lip with the slightest nibble. The once-morose principal was left breathless, hardly daring to believe her luck; the young goddess of sensuous grace looked like she remained eager for more.
“Mmm…” Adagio licked her lips in satisfaction, trying to savor the feel of her companion’s presence. “You taste even better than I imagined. I loved it.”
And Celestia had as well. Just as she had predicted in their very first meeting, one single kiss was all it had taken. She was enamored, enraptured by this striking being of utter sexuality. Celestia, the ever-controlled, always-capable woman of order and thought, had let herself be done in: she was in love.
“I hope you’ll stay with me for a little while longer,” Adagio said. “We can enjoy a few drinks and some music while the night’s still young.”
“Anything for you,” Celestia replied, perfectly eager to be right beside this desirous being. “But… what of the rest of the night?”
Adagio’s eyes gleamed. “That, sweet pet,” she answered, “will be time well spent.”
The night went along splendidly, albeit in something of a blur for the dazzled Celestia. The music seemed all the more melodious, every drink somehow better, and every new kiss Adagio gave her was all the sweeter. It was as though the dearth of attention she’d received over the years was being repaid in greater depth to make up for its absence, and she didn’t mind in the slightest so long as it came from Adagio. This young, delectable woman was all she could possibly want any longer. And as the darkness grew in strength outside, the two women talked. Adagio, perhaps trying to encourage her admirer to loosen up further, was the first to reveal any insights into her life.
“A singer?” Celestia echoed, the thought sounding somewhat familiar somewhere in her own mind. “I would say the profession suits you, dearest.”
“It does now, thankfully,” Adagio said. “Some time when I was young, I had an accident that robbed me of it. I was afraid my voice had been lost forever.”
“Well I, for one, am grateful that it did not,” Celestia said sweetly, surprising herself by leaning down and giving the beautiful woman a kiss, her own volition prompting her to do so. “It would be a tragedy to not hear such sweet words from a voice even sweeter.”
“Mmm… I’ll have to treat you to a show sometime. Something private, I think…” Adagio’s dark eyes gleamed and her smile softened. “And what of you? Surely a model somewhere, with a magnificent body like yours.”
Flattery again, but Celestia was far too besotted to be bothered by it any longer. “You’re too kind… I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I am no such thing.”
“Why, surely you’re wasting your talents elsewhere then!” Adagio declared, feigning horror. “Surely you could captivate anyone you’d like with so much as a glance- like you captivated me.”
Celestia gave a small, gentle laugh. “I’m nothing more than a principal of a school, Adagio. Hardly anything is glamorous about my life.”
“Such a crime,” was the reply. “I hope you’re not wasting your beauty away in some dusty office, ashamed of how lovely you look. I bet you drive the whole school wild.”
“If I do,” Celestia said, “then I am not one to notice. It has been- you are the first in quite a while, Adagio.”
“A tragedy,” Adagio whispered, her fingers interwoven with her lover’s, those dark eyes dulled with genuine sympathy. “Cowards and fools, the whole lot of them. Every one of your staff should be fawning over you.”
“Oh, it is not so tragic as you say,” she said quietly, trying not to shiver with delight at the feel of Adagio’s smooth touch gently stroking her palm. “My life has been fulfilling. In… most places. If my love life has to be lacking, then there are worse crosses to bear.”
“Well, no longer,” Adagio said fiercely. “As soon saw I laid eyes on you, I knew I had to have you. And now you’re mine.”
“And I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Celestia replied sweetly. “Such a beautiful, sultry thing… you’re intoxicating.”
Adagio smiled confidently, as though she already knew the compliment to be true. “What say you and I have a nightcap?” she suggested. “And then I steal you away…”
“I couldn’t agree more. Any suggestions?”
Adagio smirked, those lidded eyes reviving her lover’s long-dormant butterflies. “How about… a french kiss?”
Disappointingly, it was the name of a drink, but Celestia’s patience held strong. The liquor was sweet, deep red in color and alluring in flavor, though not as desirable as the woman with whom she shared it. It was a lovely way to polish off their evening together, but the night was only just beginning.
“Come,” Adagio said, leaving her place at the table and beckoning Celestia to join her. “I think you and I have business elsewhere to attend to.” Celestia rose from her seat to join her, each putting an arm around the other’s waist as they walked away from their comfortable place in the lounge. A quick, quiet car ride from there took them to a secluded neighborhood where Adagio dwelled, she leading her lovestruck partner through the darkened door.
“I hope you find it comfortable,” the young woman said warmly. “After all, I wouldn’t mind having you all to myself all weekend.”
“For as long as you’ll have me, darling,” Celestia murmured. A moment’s hesitation, her hand falling away from Adagio’s guiding grasp. Was this too sudden? Still too strange? Something about Adagio was very familiar, right? It’s not like she wanted that to matter or anything, but the thought was there again. Maybe she should ponder that a little longer… but that wasn’t the issue; she was rusty, out of practice. It had been many long years since she’d been with a wo- anyone. Surely that was something she had to confess.
Maybe Adagio guessed at the reason behind her hesitancy. “Just follow me,” she said softly, taking Celestia’s hands in hers and pulling her up the stairs to their desired destination. “There’s no reason to be afraid, my sweet.”
All thoughts of the unusual disappeared, now only the fear of disappointment remaining. “It’s been a while,” Celestia said weakly.
“I know. And now it’ll never have to be again.”
“Please don’t be upset if- well…”
“I have no reason to ever be upset, darling. I have you.”
A flick of the lights and the bedroom was revealed as comfortable, the soft warmth of light making it feel as though a shelter. The bed itself was luxurious, bedsheets soft to the touch, but it was not the arena of raw sexuality Celestia had expected from the young woman. This was far sweeter, far safer…
“Come here,” Adagio called. “Why don’t we dance? For only a moment, to forget your worries.”
She hadn’t noticed it at first; the tender charm of the room was heightened by the antique record player that sat on the dresser, the slightly static tones of sultry music rising from its place to soothe Celestia’s ears. A romantic tune, so perfectly matching the swaying hips of Adagio as she waltzed over to take hold of her guest, taking lead as they began their peaceful duet. At first she hesitated, slow on her movements as discomfort tried to take hold. She hadn’t been like this with anyone in-
“You’re sweet, darling,” Adagio whispered, “but for this song- you have to be close.” A teasing, yet forceful pull and Celestia was deeply pressed against the young woman she adored, hardly any space between them as they danced together. Adagio’s lead was patient and warm, the gentle curves of her body pleasant to feel against her own; it was a luxurious comfort to feel so deeply intertwined with someone so beautiful. And she had been right, too: all her nerves were melting away in this sweet precursor to much more. Celestia’s doubts and reservations were gone, forever behind and thrown out of her mind as she fell deeper into Adagio’s willing desires. She would be loved tonight.
As the final note fell, the sensuous being closed the gap with a solitary kiss, a small gift without any real force or heady passion behind it. When Adagio broke away, she smiled as she saw Celestia trying to follow. “Do you want me to have sex with you, Celestia?”
“Desperately,” the older woman whispered.
“My sweet darling, that’s too crude a thing for you!” Adagio replied. “I know you deserve better… let me make love to you instead.”
The next kiss was not so tender, but a strong, bracing thing that made Celestia desire nothing more than to be her captive. There had never been a kiss like this, so wonderfully soft and delicate- yet so passionate and powerful. Celestia hardly felt worthy to be part of it and a small part of her tried to back away-
Adagio would not let her fade from the moment, her arms wrapping tight around her lover and kissing her again, taking delighted lips prisoner and eager to see them satisfied.
