Chapter 1: Lost and Contact
Okay, first of all, being blown up by a grenade is not pretty, especially if a shard almost sliced off your ass. Oh, sorry, where's my manner? My name is Jake Chen, 24 year-old captain of my awesome Special Operation Task Force the "Leopard". I served the PLA, a.k.a People's Liberation Army, well, until not long ago. I was fighting an intense fire fight with my trusty teammates with a column of god-damned terrorists.
Me and my squad's mission is to sneak into a terrorist camp site where they placed their nuclear warhead. Yes. A. Fucking. Nuclear. Warhead that pointed directly at Bei Jing ( Capital of China) with five smaller nuclear warhead in the big bug's head. We airborne behind the enemy lines as usual from a Xi'an Y-20, at 5 o'clock. Our location is classified, obviously. After half a hour searching through the woods, my scout reported back to me that a small camp-site is spotted near the woods' end. Without a second thought I immediately confirmed that there's our target.
I ordered my sniper team to stay cloaked and t provide fire-support. The scout would also stay hidden to provide me some informations that I'd need. The rest of my boys would come with me to disable the Nuclear Warhead. Simple eh?
No.
It turns out that this entire place is filled with terrorists. Two times more than what I expected.
"War Hawk, do we continue?" One of my buddies, Eric asked. War Hawk is my code name, I replied, "Positive Tiger, you know what a nuclear warhead would do to a city big as Bei Jing." Eric nodded before looking out from the bushes we're hiding in. Suddenly, I heard noises coming from my 10 o'clock. I signaled my boys to stay still, soft breathing coming from them wee the only sounds I heard besides from the trash-talking terrorists.
The movement stopped a few feet from me, but still my grip on my QBZ-95 Automatic Rifle did not soften. Just when I was about to make another move, I felt something wet pouring down from my helmet. I looked up and greeted by a widened-eyed middle-aged guy with an AK-47 hanging from his shoulder. His private part is exposed.
"Sonnova Bitch."
Before he could react, I grabbed his neck and twisted it hard until it snaps. I let go of him as soon as his body went limb, I winced at the "pretty" smell coming from my helmet.
"Well, at least someone is stupid enough to shit on you." Eric said, trying to hold back a snort.
"Shut up." I glared at him.
Maybe it was the sound the dead terrorist made when he fell, his finger somehow triggered the rifle, probably from his fall. With a loud BAM of a gunshot, it set off the entire camp.
"And here goes our cover." Eric said as he cocked his rifle and took down an incoming terrorist.
Now my squad is engaging heavy enemy fire, which included .50 cals, RPGs, and AKs. Though the sniper team is trying their best to cover for us, their location was soon exposed and was blown up a RPG.
"GOD DAMN!!!" Eric shouted, "I DON"T REMEMBER ANYTHING ABOUT HEAVY FIREARMS DURING BRIEFING!!!!"
"WELL THEY CAUGHT US OFF GURARD!" I shouted back, but I doubt he heard me over the annoying gunshots and explosions, "ADVANCE TOWARDS THE WARHEAD AND KEEP LOW!!!"
My squad moved slowly towards the Warhead, but closer we gets, the crazier the resistance gets. Now we're getting pinned down by more than five .50 calibers pointing at us. Without the help of our sniper, we're basically waiting fro our deaths. But I had no regrets. The moment I joined PLA, I was tied to my country. I sweared to protect my country, my families, my people, and my loved ones from harm. And tell you what, an soldier's last wish is to be KIA on the battlefield, it's something glorious instead of scary.
But if we died before disabling the warhead, then millions of innocents would lose their lives. I must make a sacrifice. Why? Cuz first of all, I don't have a family. Yes, I'm an orphan. Second of all, I have no one to love but my country, which I'll be saying good-bye to. I called support from the radio I brought before telling my brothers one last thing from me.
"Ok, I contacted with HQ, they'll send in Helicopters in 20 minutes, I want you to hold this position as soon as possible . I, will go disable the Warhead." Almost immediately after I said this, Eric begin to argue. But I stopped him with glare.
"This is an order. Soldier!" He shut up.
Eric and the rest of my boys took out smoke grenades and pulled the pins before tossing them out. Three thick smoke screen were released. Immediately I sprinted towards the warhead, zig-zagging to avoid incoming bullets. Luckily, I made it to the warhead without being shot.
Suddenly, I heard voices coming from behind, three terrorists ran into me from a corner. They open fired, so did I. The three of them fell onto the ground, dead. I took a few hit too. Two in my stomach and three on my legs. Pain came up to me like never before. I grunted before reaching out for my grenade. The switch is on top of me, I can't reach it due to my wounds. My vision became darker, everything begin to blur out, gunshot sounded more distant, I gritted my teeth and used the last bit of my energy to pull the pin.
Then.
BOOM!!!
My vision went black.
(~)
Pain.
Pain.
Pain.
Pain is all I can feel.
Hold up, I can feel pain? I'm... Alive? That is just simply not possible. Uh-uh, nope, nada. Impossible. No one can survive two shots from 7.62mm rounds in their gut. I doubt even the toughest man in the world can. But here I am, breathing, with absolutely no wound on my gut and legs.
My equipments were still on me. I slowly opened my eyes. But I immediately shut it when a bright light beam pierce through my eyes. No, I remembered that it was 6 o'clock during my fight. And now, the position of the sun looks like it was at afternoon. Am I in heaven? Good guess, but no.
After been flashbanged for about a few seconds, my eyes is slowly adjusting the environment. I looked around, I was in a... forest? I was fighting in the woods am I not? And there's absolutely no gunshot, not even a single word were heard. Only the sounds of bird chirping and inserting calling were heard. No human-made sounds, just the good' o sounds of Mother Nature.
"Where am I?" I asked myself, it didn't helped much, so I decided to explore this new yet strange area.
I haven't heard or smell the nature for about three years now. All those annoying city-sounds is giving me headaches. But this... forest is giving me a strange yet happy feeling. The smell of fresh air and grass,I didn't smell anything from the gunshots or explosives... Wait.
I suddenly realized that gunshots and explosions should be happening around me if I'm still around in that forest where the gunfight broke out, if there's none here... then...
No.
No. No. No.
I was terrified at this thought. But it all sounded ridiculous.
"Okay, Jake, no pressure, I'll radio my way outta here, deep breath. There's nothing to worry about, there's nothing to---" I was soon cut off by some strange nosies coming from the bushes. Immediately I raised by rifle and pointed at the bush. A second later, a white fur ball came hopping out. My glares immediately softened at the sight of the cutest little bunny I've ever seen on Earth. Pretty sure I'm no longer on that... lousy planet.
"Phew, hey there little guy, don't sneak around the bushes next time, you almost give me a heart-attack." I said softly to the little bunny. It eyed me curiously before hopping away.
I turned and my heart stopped for a few seconds, "WHAT THE F--!!!"
In front of me, is a face. No, a creature. It's about 5 foot tall, with creamy fur and dark orange curly furs around its neck and head, it had scales on its back, a wood-shaped horn was on its forehead. What attracted me the most were its eyes. Big. Cute. Golden eyes. But the sudden appearance still made me jumped at least a few inches.
I backed away slightly from this creature, I supposed that it's a she since she had female-like eyelashes. We just stared at each other foe an awkward few moment before I decided to break the awkward silence, "Uh... Hi?"
Almost immediately the creature's eyes widened in surprise and happiness as soon as "Uh, hi" came out of my lips.
"Oh my Celestia! You talked!" It continued, I suppose that she's a talkative type due to her bubbly and non-stop talking mouth, "I thought Rain Shine is the only one who prefers to talk besides other villagers but now there's another one who's willing to talk! Yay!" It continued talking until I snapped my fingers next to her ears.
"Uh, sorry to interrupt you but... could you talk slower?" I suggested.
"Oh, sorry, it just that there's haven't been any visitors and creature who talks coming to our village lately. Where are my manners? My name is Autumn Blaze, what's yours?" she asked.
"Autumn, I liked the name, it sound... beautiful." I complimented, making her blush a bit, "Yeah I'm good at making females blush, name's Jake." I said. Then I looked around and asked her my biggest question yet, "Would you mind telling me where is this place?"
"Of course, I'm the Kirin Foreign Ambassador and representative of the Kirin race to newcomers. This is the Perilous Peaks, you're near my village. And just incase you have any questions, this is Equestria, planet Equis. You're not from around here aren't you?" Autumn asked.
That struck me hard. Kirin. Fuck, am I day dreaming? No, she did her species were called Kirin. But... she looked different then what I read and saw from Wikipedia, movies, and books.
"You... Are a Kirin?" I asked carefully.
"Why yes? IS there any problem with that?" she tiled her head, I tried really hard not to say 'aww'. Cuz that head-tilt is sooooo adorable.
“No! Not at all, it just..." I struggled to find the correct word, trying not to hurt her feelings or make her feel he's a threat, "Ok, here's the truth, I'm not from tis world."
There's a brief silence before Autumn exclaimed, "YOU'RE AN ALIEN?!"
"Yes, yes." I said, "And in my world, Kirin only existed in legends, movies, and books. No offense but, you looked different from what I thought you'd look like."
Now Autumn just got more excited, "Well I can't wait to show you to the villagers! Com' on!" She trotted away. I stood there for a few seconds before catching up to her. I don't wanna stay in this strange place all by myself. I'm not that stupid. And this Kirin is really starting to interest me, a lot.
I had a feeling that our story has just begun...

Chapter 2: Confession
(3rd POV)
After six weeks of getting used to the new member of the village, seeing the soldier wondering around the village is pretty much an everyday sight, no creature really made a big deal about him no more. Though Autumn would aways follow the human around, ahem, to be specific, stalking him. (Yes, yes, I know it's creepy, she's a bit like Pinkie so let's get over this and continue.) And Jake would always spot her, but he did not call her out. But seeing the cute Kirin doing this everyday is slowly picking his curiosity up.
(Jake's POV)
"Have a great day Mr. Jake!" The Kirin waved, I waved back before taking the vegetables from the store, tossed him a few bits and walked back towards my hut Rain Shine provided for me. Then I sensed that poor little stalker again. I kept on ignoring the urge of wanting to call out her name, but a thought quickly flashed through my head, What is her purpose?
I then had an idea, isn't that great but I must do it.
I quickly ran into my hut, placed the vegetables in my storage, and walked out of the hut as if nothing had happened. I can still sense that Kirin missy still on my back, I then purposely walked towards the Peak of Peril.
I began to climb the rocky hills of the peak, and I swear I nearly slipped and fall to my death below, but every time a 'mysterious ' force would catch me and place me back; though I know exactly who's behind this. Finally, after some hiking, I reached the peak top, I laced my 50 pounds gears aside and took a nice deep breath. You might ask why I was carrying all that stuff; see, when you spend most of your life training and gun fighting people, you'll find it really difficult to find quiet easily, so you'd have to work out to keep yourself in shape.
I sat on a boulder near the cliff, drag some water and watched the distant lands.
It reminds me of Mt. ChangBai back on Earth, years ago, my training camp went there for a special training exercise, and god that duo not went well; waking up at 4 in the morning, carrying 50 pounds and hike around the mountain for two hours and a half, and doing some unnecessary push-ups in the middle. Yeah, you got the idea...
The only thing I liked about that trip was watching sunset from the highest peak of Mt. ChangBai, I have a few photos of that on my phone, damn it's the most beautiful sight I've ever seen.
As I watch the far land, with soft wind blowing pass my face, I began lost in my memories. Unfortunately, badass ones.
I have a really good buddy during that trip, his name is David Li. We're best buddies when we first met, we trained together, fought together, talked together, we're like brothers. And he would always follows me to the peak of Mt ChangBai and watches the sunset. However, last year's sunset was his last one. Three months ago, he was sent to the western border as a frontier guard. And there's this conflict when a group of Illegal militants came in. He tried to stop them, a gun fight broke out. A few minutes later, the battle ended; the militants were taken down, butwhen the reinforcement arrived, David never lived to see another sunset...
The lost of David really got into me, but duty first, I have to put his death aside to continue on my career. But as time grew, more of my brothers in arm were KIA, I began to doubt my sentence every time we go on an operation, "I'll get you home to your girl and family, trust me."
And sometimes later, we went back with a white bag and a dog tag...
The memories were like a huge flood, I felt tears running down my cheek as the faces of my deceased brothers, the ones I swore to bring home with, flashed in my head. Their last words, were almost the same, "GO! LEAVE ME! I'LL COVER YOU!" or "DUTY FIRST GOD DAMN IT!"
I was so lost in thought that I never saw the same Kirin I met three weeks ago slowly trotted towards me.
"Jake?" I did not answer.
"Jake? Hello?" I remained silence.
Then I felt a soft feeling on my left arm. I snapped into reality and found Autumn Blaze nuzzling my arm, her brown fiire-liek warm mane stroke my arm, I love that feeling.
"Oh, hey Autumn, didn't see you there." I said, wiping away the remaining tears.
"Jake, are you crying?" she asked, her expression was tied with worrying and concern. Ah shit...
Seeing me not answering, she looked more worried, "Jake? Is there something you're not telling me?"
"Oh, uh... Nothing bad, just some old memories... yeah, memories..." I said, but the last part sounded more like a murmur. Then I felt the Kirin gently leaped into my chest and looked up to me with the cutest, most adorable puppy face I've every seen. God damn it! She knows my weakness!
After a brief silence, she looked a bit disappointed, "Jake, if you don't want to tell me, it's fine. Running away from me is also fine if you wish..." She then went down from my laps and slowly walked away, tears forming in her golden eyes, "And if you wish me to go and leave you alone that's also... fine..." the word fine sounded hurt, I couldn't stop but feel guilty for not telling her.
"Autumn, wait!" I shouted, she stopped and looked back at me with a sad look, I signal her to come over, she did.
"Look, let's be honest with each other," I sighed, "yes, I've been hiding something from you." Shit now she's more hurt.
"But that's something I usual kept to myself, however seeing you like this is... *sigh* giving me negative emotions." I said, she trotted back to me and back on my laps again, but her ears were still down, her face still bit hurt, "See, before I came here, I was a soldier, to be specific, a Captain of the Special Task Force Squad."
She raised her eyebrows, confused by that.
"Just think of it as a special group of warriors that goes on secret missions." I said, "It's a really dangerous job, we go in behind enemy lines, rescue hostages, fight the terrorists usual in ratio of 5:1. By the way terrorists were people who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims. And... People dies around me..."
Now Autumn Blaze not happy about where this is going.
"I made a lot of friends at training camps and boot camps. They're either jerks, or best buddies, and guess what? Every time I lead a special operation with them, the result is always losing one of them. And when I said lose I meant the lost of their lives." I said, Autumn had this type of look that someone cares deeply about you gives, "And before the mission began, I'd promise them that I'll bring them home alive, yet... I lost my best friend three months ago, died fighting a bunch of assholes, it was a glorious death for him."
She flinched at my use of words, but kept silence as I talk; which were really unusual for her talkative and chatty personality.
"I made friends, lose them, made friends, lose them, then it repeats." I sighed, "As time grew, I began to question the value of friendship, is it worth making it when you loses them overtime? But I know that question is a stupid one, of course you need friendship..."
"If you break a friendship, they'd heal over time... right?" Autumn asked.
"Some of them, yes," I answered, "but some scars, they'd never fade away." Then I showed her my right arm, "This is not an actual arm, but a cyborg one." Then I opened my fake arm and let her see the wires and steel in my cyborg arm. She winced at the thought of losing an arm.
"Lost it during a gun fight with the terrorists, my partner was suppose to cover me, instead he fled me was if I was nothing to him. A 12.7mm BMG round ripped it clean off. And this dude, he claimed to be my buddy during the camp..."
Once again, I felt Autumn's furry chest against mine as I continued, "And this one, on my thigh, shot by an AK, I was bleeding out, but no one came over to me for about 5 minutes, and when I went unconscious, someone finally dragged me out... And later I found out that most of my 'buddies' watched this entire scene without moving a muscle, their excuse is that the enemy fire is too rapid... I was betrayed so many times. Anyone I'm close with or cared about would eventually die, either by accident or killed... And... that's the reason why I'm running away from you... I... I don't wanna lose you."
Another brief moment of silence between us two, she realized what I said and meant, she had a cute blush on her face, but her beautiful golden eyes locked onto mine.
"I'm telling you," Autumn said softly while resting her head on my shoulder, "you'll never lose me... And I don't want to lose you too. But it breaks my heart to see you suffer from your past demons."
"You... you sure about that?" I hesitantly asked.
"I think this answers it." Then she leaned in and locked her lips with mine. The time seemed to slow down, I felt the warm sensation of her tongue trying to sneak into my lips. I started to panic, not sire whether to accept this or... Autumn's lips left mine after realizing I wasn't kissing back.
"J...Jake?" she asked, "D... Don't you l... love me?" Now tears started to form in her eyes again, an extremely hurt expression was on her face.
"No! N... No! Of course I do!" I blurted out, "It just that... Is it really okay to... you know... do that kind of stuff between a human and a Kirin? Even if we did that, you won't get... You know..."
"Jake, Kirin's can combine their genes with any creature, that's why we have so many different species hybrids all around Equestria and beyond." Autumn said, then she looked at me with her huge golden eyes, her lips started to shiver, "Jake... I want to ask you one thing, I want you to be honest; What am I to you?"
Silence filled the air, a few seconds later, I decided to confess my feeling towards the Kirin I loved, "You are everything to me."
Her eyes brightened up, "Real...Really?"
"Can this answer you?" I then leaned forward and kissed her lips by surprise, her eyes widened at the sudden movement but relaxed. Our lips opened slightly, our tongues sticking out and battled with each other. I gently rubbed her soft cream-colored belly, making her moan softly. After about 5 minuets of kissing, we broke the kiss.
Autumn embraced me in a warm hug, "I love you Jake."
I gladly returned the hug, "I... I love you too, Autumn."
We broke the hug, stared into each other's eyes, and kissed again. After a minute or so we broke the kiss.
"Jake?" she asked.
"Yes?"
"Um... Are we... a... couple now?" she asked, a red blush forming on her cheeks, plus the rays of the sunset, making her beautiful as ever.
"I'd gladly say yes," I took the hooves of my beautiful girlfriend, or marefriend in this case. What surprised me is that they could stand perfectly fine on their hind legs for about a few seconds. Then we kissed again, the warm rays of the setting sunned the cool blows of wind showered us, we stood there for about 5 minutes before she suggested to go back.
(Time Skip: A month later)
Me and Autumn has been dating for almost a month now, each date was a success, we decided its time to take our relationship into a deeper level. And tonight, we just came back from a date, Autumn looked like she need to go t the bathroom, but we didn't;t drink that much water.
"Jake?" she asked me.
"Yeah Auty?" That's my nickname for her.
"I was thinking, since we've been dating for a month now..." she looked at me with a hopeful look on her face, "Perhaps we should take our relationship into a... deeper level."
To her surprise, I agreed immediately.
We then went into my bedroom, Autumn locked the door behind me, and then she tackled kissed me onto my bed.
"There, there Auty," I smirked after breaking the kiss, "let me take off my cloths and have some fun."
It's gonna be the best night ever,
