"Shmergha!" was the tired response afforded to it by the Pegasus still in bed. As she held up a hoof to stare at the infernal machine on her wrist, which dared to awake her from her peaceful rest, she noted the times earlier at which she had pressed the snooze button. Deciding it was well past time for getting out of bed, she silenced the device, fondly remembering how she had come across the device whilst scavenging with her uncle.
==============================Flash-Back==================================
Crunching the scraps of before-times trash under her hooves, she searches through the dumpster.
"Be careful Lucky!" called a mature Stallion's voice "you don't want to get cut by the scrap!"
The much younger Pegasus named Lucky paused her search to look back at the copper stallion hovering a small distance above her. This Stallion held a look of poorly masked concern as he looked down at Lucky.
“I’ll be fine, Uncle!” Lucky shouted back.
Making her way through the maze like piles of rusted metal and junk. Lucky picked through the canyons of old Chariots and ancient before times devices with their jagged rusty edges. Collecting items of value, old magic cells, and any computer chips she could find when something caught her eye.
It lay there, partially buried but on it’s own almost pedestal like mound of dirt presenting itself to her. A pipbuck, looked decently intact too it may be possible to get the parts to repair it! Lucky was almost squealing in excitement as she went over to the device to dig it up….
========================================================================
Lucky giggled remembering the look of her Uncle's face when she presented it to him. But now it was time to get ready for the day.
“My Friends weren’t going to have fun without me!” She thought as she went through her morning routine. She was beginning to make her way through the door and out into the world when she was interrupted by a startling “Harumph!”. Causing her to stop and spin on the spot.
“Where do ya think yer goin miss?” deadpanned her uncle without even glancing up from the rifle he was working on.
“Ummm” Lucky said, remembering how her Uncle thought of her friends. “To look for scrap!” she proclaimed congratulating herself on her incredible excuse.
“Really, yer lookin for scrap…” he said, still not looking up from his gun. “Without saddlebags, in yer barding and without ANY form of self defense?”
“Errrr” Was the best response Lucky could get out as her wing began to fiddle with the door handle. This finally made the stallion look over with his deadpan look as there was the start of a war of wills between the two. Lucky wondered if this counted as a staring contest and tried not to blink, though she was being betrayed by the dryness of her eyes.
“Fine, I don’t want tuh find out you got into some trouble, missy” he warned with a small yet somehow friendly glare.
“Thank you Thank you THANK YOU!” she gasped out as she flung herself out of the door and into the streets of the grand civilized City 34. Which of itself was an odd name Lucky thought as she began to walk through the flattened earthen streets. Just because it was built off a Stable does not make it the pinnacle of society right? Her father had mentioned something about a social experiment, though Lucky wasn’t listening at the time.

.
“What was I doing again” Lucky thought as she stopped walking to ponder this new revelation. Suddenly she was brought back into reality by a forceful shove to the side and some pony said, “Watch where ya goin, asshole!”. Lucky then had another revelation, “Oh!” she thought as she resumed her pace “I’m looking for my friends!”. Walking down the labyrinthian streets of the city, lucky eventually found her way to a little hole in the wall. Lucky thought that it was an odd name for a restaurant. But it was where her friends hung out ALL the time, something about territory and stuff but didn’t seem important.
The door chimed as Lucky entered the fine establishment, her senses were immediately assaulted by the smell of beer and cleaner. Odd since she never saw any actual cleaning here confirmed by all the stains that covered every inch of the bar. It was only the bar for some reason, this place was kooky, and that’s when she spotted her pals. They were huddled around a table near a corner of the bar.
“-And then she actually said something as though this were some sorta dumb book!” that was all that Lucky was able to make out of their conversation when she got close to them.
“Heya!” Lucky said approaching the group. Many of them looked away from her, one groaned. Lucky wondered if congestion or maybe just a little ache but wasn’t sure for him, the food here wasn’t the best anyhow.
“Hello Lucky.” said Silver. Silver was Lucky's BEST friend. So good a friend were they that Lucky knew that silver wasn’t even her real name! It was Pretororor.... ora ora or something like that. But besides the weird name, Silver was just the coolest, and the nicest, and the bestest friend Lucky had ever had! Some room was made for her at the table, and she leaned onto the wooden platform.
“So, back to eehh… Business” snaked out a stallion Lucky knew as Cabal. He was cool, almost as cool as Silver. Though he squinted a lot and seemed to always have chronic migraines at the most inopportune times. Basically the leader of the group, Lucky joined about a year or two ago. Lucky Joined about a month before Silver joined.
“And man did she make everything like, what did the posters say? Oh yeah, 20% cooler!” Lucky thought as the table began to rumble with conversations of multiple ponies talking to each other. Then a rough looking stallion appeared causing all 8 of the other ponies to stop talking. He leaned over the table putting down a 10mm Pistol causing a heavy thud on the wood, and began to speak slightly hushed.
“Alright bois” The Stallion named Hammer Rumbled out. “We're gonna have a golden opportunity,” Hammer glanced around the table of ponies.
“What is it boss?” Chattered one pony who Lucky knew as Hardy.
“Silver, tell 'em” Hammer said, a gleam in his eyes as he looked towards Lucky's best friend. Silver Cleared her throat, glancing at lucky.
“In a couple of days I was looking arou….. “ Silvers voice shimmered into the background as Lucky began to be lost in thought, all snapping back into focus when Silver’s head swiftly turned to gaze upon everyone else at the table. Then in a clear voice, that pierced into Lucky's very being and rattled around in her soul.
“Steel Rangers are coming to the City”
