Star Trek: Hawaii
Introduction to the crew and ship
(several days earlier)
"... how's the repairs going here Six of ten?" Admiral David O'Niel said, looking over to his chief engineer, a female liberated borg, who said "the modifications are complete, our drives and systems register the cross-dimensional portal generator and is standing by"
"good, and the new weapon systems?"
"our Antiproton beam arrays are being installed as we speak"
"good, make sure to double check that they are installed properly this time? I wouldn't want to have the array explode in the gunner's face a second time"
"riiiiight, you can't blame me for that, I just make sure everything in engineering works and goes in the required direction, not the way the arrays point."
"remind me that when you stop going over to the arrays alright?"
"alright"
"good, I'll be in my quarters for the rest of the day so if you need anything, check there"
"will do"
Heading back to his quarters, there was nothing new on the Hawaii, aside from the ship being the newest addition to the growing number of Odyssey cruisers off the assembly line, this one is able to have modular pieces fitted, allowing for even more flexibility in the line. She was armed with over 25 phaser arrays, refitted to have an extra 5 Antiproton beam arrays, 3 quantum torpedo launchers, a twin tube turret on the ventral saucer pointing forward and one facing aft, 10 photon torpedo launchers, 4 facing forward, 6 facing aft, all in twin-tube turrets, primary, secondary and tertiary Assimilated Aegis shields, a primary and secondary warp core, Assimilated Aegis sub-transwarp engines, Assimilated Aegis Deflector array. Along with her impressive firepower she is able to separate the saucer section and the stardrive section, also there is an Aquarius Escort sitting docked up in the rear docking bay of the stardrive section, most of the massive ship consisted mainly of the cyan blue-gray hull, some of the ship had atmosphere such as the current few decks above and below him, the current deck, the Bridge, engineering and gunnery. The ship was not due to be fully complete for a few days now but the competent captain made sure his ship was ready for anything, even in her almost built state, due to design limitations, the ship had to be slightly longer, have the decks expanded, and add a few new decks onto the existing layout, but no one complained about having added space on the hold, in fact, some of the more adventurous actually liked the added space in the hold. While he did enjoy the time in his quarters gazing out at the stars, admiring in their beauty for hours on end, he smiled at this, for there was going to be a whole host of new opportunities for exploration, due to the unknowns that might be lethal, as in when the Enterprise Captain Kirk was on had used a dimensional drive, it nearly ended the known universe and that shut down the project fast, the ship sends out a probe first which beams back information, all of this is autonomous and cannot be overwritten, when the dimension is deemed safe, the ship jumps, if the probe does not respond within 5 minutes, that dimension is deemed unsafe and the ship does not jump. He didn't go into too much detail on how it all works but decided, 'hey, might as well write a captain's log on this'
"Captains log, Stardate: 149617.24714126694
the construction of the ship goes well under way, we expect to have her out on her own within the week, Six reports that drives are installed correctly and the systems recognize it fully, most of the heavy construction is underway. All that's really keeping us back from the unknown is a valve that springs a leak sometimes, but other than that it seems the cruiser is ready for whatever awaits us, though I'd enjoy putting in a requisition order for more Borg technology, such as an autonomous regeneration sequencer to help us out with repairs. I don't know if putting anything more than what is already on is a good idea, but it never hurts to be prepared"
Then he headed back to the shuttle he used to get here, off to his home down on Earth...
