“You must surely be joking,” Ember, the Dragon Lord, sputtered, taken aback after what she had heard. It was a small miracle she didn’t drop or crush to pieces the cup of tea in her claws. Putting it down, she stared incredulously at the mare sitting across the table.
“Why would I lie about something like that, Ember darling?” Rarity replied, ending with a classy giggle. She then took a long, loud sip of her tea before placing it down. “Honestly, is it really something that strange to ask?”
“I may not know much about pony culture, but I’m sure asking a friend ‘Would you like to fuck with my husband?’ isn’t something many creatures would consider normal, Rarity,” Ember replied, trying to sound as serious as she could in her agitated state. “Is this some sort of joke or a weird pony holiday I don’t know about like that Prankfest Day?”
Rarity waved a hand, smiling all the time. “Not at all, darling. I’m entirely serious. If you’re not interested, I understand.”
A rebellious blush appeared on her cheeks instantly. “I didn’t say I wasn’t interested!” She snapped back at her friend. Drinking the rest of her tea, she crossed her arms, her eyes squinting suspiciously as she examined the mare. “Why would you offer Spike to me like that? Is he… okay with it? I thought marriage meant you two couldn’t mate with other creatures.”
“Marriage is a complicated thing, dear. We would be sitting here for days were I to explain its many nuances, ins and outs, how it works, when it's working, how a stable relationship keeps the marriage together and many, many more points I certainly don’t wish to discuss right now!” The unicorn replied in good humor, though her voice showed a hint of annoyance and pain when mentioning the subject. “But what I can do is assure you that Spike is on board with it. We don’t do this willy-nilly, you know?”
“Willy-ni--?” Ember shook her head. “Wait wait wait. I’m very confused right now. You’ve done this before?” She scoffed and looked away. “Of course you’ve done this before,” she muttered to herself, feeling some of her sanity slipping away. “Things may work differently on the Dragon Lands but doesn’t that count as what other creatures call cheating?”
“To the uneducated and ignorant, absolutely. But what Spike and I have is special. Unbreakable, dare I say.” Rarity blushed.
“Say I accept to mate with Spike,” Ember leaned in a little. “Does he know I’m, you know?” She pointed a claw to her stomach. “Would that be a problem?”
“Oh-ho-ho-ho, daaaarling!” Rarity fanned a hand rapidly at her friend’s revelation. “That’s precisely why I invited you!”
“Then I accept,” Ember said, smiling.
Leaning forward and nearly pressing her face against Ember’s, Rarity’s blush nearly transformed her entire face into a red orb while she smiled from ear to ear. “Splendid! Ember, darling, I can’t wait to see my Spikey-Wikey breed you!”
“You can’t what!?”
