Anon awoke to a wave of warmth and pleasantness, relishing in it as it washed over him. Familiarity struck him like lightning, providing clarity and calm.
He was swathed in a multitude of patterned sheets and blankets, each of them covering his skin like a silken cocoon. Something was lodged between his legs, furry and soft, desperately trying to fuse itself with the skin of his thighs—and pushing dangerously close to more intimate regions. Another of those somethings was wrapped over the top of his legs, along with the tender caress of an ethereal appendage; most undoubtedly a multi-colored tail.
The warmth that had been pressing against his eyelids soon was accompanied by the faint presence of light. Seems like she decided to open the curtains already, he thought. Somepony was ready to start the day early—surprising, given her propensity for sleeping in if enabled to.
But even though the curtains were open and the sun was shining through the window, the weight pressed up against him remained. His eyes cracked open, taking in the detailed ceiling above him, interrupted only by the mahogany beams that kept the roof stable.
Anon’s eyes next focused on the face next to his. Loose, flowing locks of multi-colored mane framed a perfect, white-furred face, complete with a pair of soft, blushing cheeks. Two piercing magenta eyes gazed back into his own, constricting to lessen the sudden influx of light. A small smile outlined pearly white teeth, each of them possessing a shiny gleam.
This mare was Celestia: His lover and hopefully soon-to-be wife.
He returned her smile two-fold, lowering his head to plant a small kiss on her lips.
“Good morning, Sunshine,” Anon said in a low, almost whispered tone. His fingers curled around her right ear and scratched right where he knew she liked it, earning a soft hum from her.
Celestia’s nostrils flared slightly as she burrowed her head back into his chest. “Your breath smells. Are you sure you brushed your teeth last night?”
Anon laid his head back onto his pillow and chuckled. “Maybe I should invest in getting some mints. Just brushing doesn’t seem to do the trick.”
The only response he garnered was a quiet, “Mhm,” accompanied by muffled giggling, making him grin quietly. Twisting his neck around, he eyed the alarm clock sitting on the nightstand. 5:32, it read. Two minutes behind schedule.
Breathing in, he continued to stroke Celestia’s mane. Moments like these were the kind he cherished. He didn’t have to think, he didn’t have to try, all he had to do was be.
Be calm, be in the moment, be there with Celestia. That was all that mattered right then, and that’s all that would ever really matter.
“Do you think it would be too much to ask to take the day off?” Celestia shifted her head so one eye could see him. “Pass my responsibilities to Luna and have her manage the day court for today.”
Anon licked his lips in thought, before he composed a response. “Well,” he began softly, “you are the princess, so Equestria counts on you to be on that throne everyday, to lead them, to guide them. Even just being there would give them a sense of security.”
When she didn’t interject, he cleared his throat and continued. “But let’s say, for one day, you’re not the princess. Somepony else raises the sun and somepony else sits on the throne. What would you want to do? I say, we sleep in until twelve, then maybe after that, we go eat at Joe's, take a stroll, enjoy the breeze. We could even watch the sunset, under a tree somewhere. What do you think?”
Celestia mumbled, nestling her head deeper into his chest. “I think I like the sound of that.” With that, she was out like a light once more.
“Annnd you fell back asleep. What am I going to do with you?” He questioned with a chuckle. Several minutes passed, while he sat there playing with Celestia’s mane and ears, but very little went through his head. Thoughts… they were slow today. Slow thoughts for slow mornings. They were his favorite kind. They would just sleep and talk in bed until somepony came and made them start their days. Unfortunately, his stomach was rumbling, demanding that he find something to eat.
Sighing, he gave her ear one final scratch before retracting his hand.He glanced down at Celestia, smiling as he watched her head move gently up and down with every breath he took. Moving as carefully and quietly as his body allowed, he gently lifted Celestia’s head and placed it down on a pillow. With that done, he carefully lifted her forelegs from around his shoulders, letting them settle close to her chest.
Now for the hard part. The hind leg atop his thigh was easy enough to remove, but when he went to remove the other leg, he felt an uncomfortable pressure mounting underneath his testicles.
“Stay.” Soft, yet commanding, her voice brought his gaze to bear on the sole eye looking at him from its pillowy residence.
He made to say some joke about how Luna would eat all the cake if he didn’t go check on her, but it died in his throat when he saw the dangerous, yet adorable glint in her eye, along with the continued pressure from her hoof.
“Please?” She continued, holding her forelegs out whilst simultaneously wrapping her wings around his back.
Taking a moment to consider all of his options, Anon chose the one that would result in the least amount of bodily harm to his reproductive system. Wrapping his arms around her barrel, he pulled her back into his chest, once again entwining Celestia and him together in a human alicorn cocoon of arms, wings, and legs.
Looks like food is going to have to wait for a bit, he thought with a soft sigh and a smile as his head came to rest next to her horn. He didn’t have to wait long.
Soon, after just a few minutes of waiting came a quiet: “Anon?” from Celestia, and there was a slight change in her tone.
“Yes honey?”
“I’m hungry.” A pause, her stomach grumbling all the while in the interim. “I think my stomach wants pancakes.”
His own stomach began to rumble, making him laugh. “I think my stomach wants pancakes too.”
