The clock chimes softly as Rarity brushes her hoof across the desk; her work for the day completed. She sighs as Opalescence sits in her bed and begins to sleep. The air in the boutique was nice and clear; her mind filled with broiled memories that made her cry. She felt so alone; even though she really wasn't. Everything felt so hard for her.
Ting, Ting, Ting.
The clock chimes again, her body numbing as she curls up on her desk. Her tears slid down the wooden table, and pitta-pats on the ground in harmonic tune. She thought carefully to herself as she levitates a glass of wine and brings it to herself, drinking it down slowly.
"I'm the fairest mare in Ponyville," She says through a sip of wine, "aren't I...?" She shudders and puts the glass down carefully, making her shudder yet again.
"I'm the fairest mare in Ponyville," She repeats, staring at the pony model, "aren't I...?" She sighs and rests her head on the table, listening to the wind bristle outside her window.
Ting, Ting, Ting.
She smiles at the sound of the clock, making her very sleepy. She could feel its noise trance into her brain, implanting a message. But what was the message? She tries to forget her past and she tries to sleep.
But she can't. Something won't let her.
She lifts her head, her eyes red from all the stress and work. Everything was pushing and pulling her. Everything.
But something else, something else was making her very depressed inside. Was it her because her best friends were slowly taking their own paths?
Was it because they were far away, and she was here? But, she didn't want to be anywhere else.
It was none of that: It was because she had no true love. No stallion to help her through the rest of her life and through the pain and regrets of the rest of her short life. Next thing she knew, she'd be dead, in heaven.
She cries out loud, which startles Opal. Opal hisses to tell Rarity to shut up, and Opal lays back down to sleep. Rarity sighs and rests her head again.
Ting, Ting, Ting.
The chimes remind her of her very first Grand Galloping Gala. Where she met the spoiled, rude, and snotty Prince Blueblood. Her mind removes the blurred thought of the prince before she went to the Gala.
'He's so regal, so wonderful AND the nephew of Princess Celestia! If he is, he's sure to be perfect for me!'
She mutters and smiles a little. He wasn't regal. He wasn't wonderful, and he surely wasn't perfect for her.
But the chimes didn't just remind her of Blueblood, it also reminded her of Spike. Spike...
"Such a darling, he is." She says in a soft tone, that had a depressed feeling inched into it. Spike. He was just a baby dragon then, in love with her sparkled feature, he was kind and always did her bidding. She always felt like a princess when he did that.
But what such a pony would marry a dragon? I know he's kind, but...he's a...dragon.
The word 'Dragon' burned her lips, making her feel even more sleepy. She yawns and flutters her eyes.
One last pony. Fancypants. She had met Fancypants when she went to Canterlot for her stay; for her time of what she really truly wanted to be. She wanted to be regal. She wanted to be famous. She wanted to be the...the creme da la creme...not just another Jane Doe, waiting for the spotlight to shine on her time.
Time. Another word burns her lips and she closes her eyes.
Blueblood...Spike....Fancypants... crushing over ponies, but...but never showing her feelings...
She sighs and falls asleep on her desk, the world stilling of her presence disappearing for the hours of slumber.
I'm the fairest mare in Ponyville.
I am the fairest mare in Ponyville.
My love is not true, but are you?
***
It was just a simple remedy, she says in a hush tone.
The unicorn smiles with her morning dew wings fluttering on her back, making her look like a delicate butterfly. She kisses the white stallion on the lips, their passionate affection of love like a careful crystal of love.
But love was more to any other mare, especially for the white unicorn. Her skin bristles as the white stallion breaks the kiss and hugs her tightly.
Your everything to me, He says, you are my life...my love. My everything.
She sighs at his romantic words and kisses him yet again. She giggles softly as their tounges intertwine softly and she breaks the kiss this time.
He smiles widely at her and they rest on the top of a grassy hill; enjoying the sunset as it lullaby's them to sleep.
Everything is just right, she thinks, I wish this moment lasted forever.
The view of them nestled under a tree pauses; and then slowly fades away until all is black.
