Ever since Nightmare Moon came to be, the Everfree Forest was considered the most dangerous location in all of Equestria. As the forest began to grow and expand, many ponies began to grow accustomed to its presence, mostly those who settled near it sometime after Nightmare Moon was banished to the moon.

After Nightmare Moon returned and was purified back into Princess Luna, some ponies began to properly investigate the Everfree, and within a few short years, it was labeled the safest of the most dangerous forests. The reasoning of its classification as such was the frequent visits to the castle ruins inside it by various ponies, and a Zebra living inside the forest, making a living with alchemy.

Speaking of Alchemy, many ponies didn’t think that ponies practiced it...at least until the Pillars of Equestria returned from their stay in Limbo, and ‘Mage’ Meadowbrook came into the picture. Within the span of a decade, various ponies began to practice alchemy and allowed Equestria to rival Zebrica in potion production.

Despite such rivalry, one pony and one zebra got along to the point of doing various potion demonstrations on and with each other.

“Meadowbrook, with this mess, I must confess,” Zecora, the zebra, said as she watched Meadowbrook, the pony, mix many ingredients into the cauldron in the center of her Everfree Hut. “With my sumo potion, I have had no success.”

The pony in question looked up from the cauldron. “Oh? How so?” She asked.

“A potion with Bloat Fruit it did approve,” She said while holding up a blue fruit with slightly lumpy ‘skin’. She then picked up a flower with rubbery petals. “But when I added Expanda Flower I could not move!”

Meadowbrook giggled at her zebra friend’s response and spoke. “Well, at least you have the basic idea of what a Sumo Potion can be. Being greatly fattened, but not kept planted in the spot you are planted in and not having compromised health.” Meadow brook stopped stirring the cauldron to take a small sip of the concoction in it. Her body increased in size, mostly fat, but not to a huge degree. A quick examination of herself and a nod of approval, and she began bottling the concoction. “However, your attempt at keeping fat and reducing immobility was a bit… backward in thought. Rather than using Bloat Fruit with Expanda Flower, use Bloat Fruit with a few Buff Beans.”

“I must admit even though I've thought at length, that my weight potion would need something to increase strength,” Zecora said in amazement.

“Most people think that a Sumo Wrestler is all fat, but they forget that Muscle is a factor,” Meadowbrook said before handing one of the bottles to her. “Give it a try and test your strength.”

Zecora looked at the bottle in slight apprehension before downing its contents. As soon as the last drop left the bottle and went down her throat, she ballooned outward in weight and size until she was twice Meadowbrook’s height and greatly increased her weight.

As Zecora examined her newly ‘Sumoed’ body, Meadowbrook giggled and spoke. “I told you, Zecora, that I could make a really good Sumo Potion. And that's just a minor one.” She said as she took one of the bottles and added a pinch of Essence of Growth to the potion. As she corked it and gave it a good shake, the door to the hut opened, revealing a surprised and slightly embarrassed Somnambula. “We're gonna test the major one out on Somnambula here shortly.”
