A young teenaged colt sat in front of a small fire. The fire burned inside a brick furnace; the wood crackled and popped as the fire dance around it. The colt continued to stare at the flames; their light barely illuminating the darkness around him. The light of the flames revealed a few things around him. Countless blades and other metal works hung on the walls. While tools and other equipment were scattered around on the inside. He extended one of his hooves towards the flames; feeling the heat from them radiate onto his hoof. When his hoof was warm enough he pulled it back and sighed. He turned around and gently walked towards a nearby shelf. He gazed upwards at a golden trophy; it was in the shape of an anvil. On top was a sword and a hammer both of them were gold as well. He smiled as he gazed at it. But, that was not what was really making him smile. No it was the image that was being reflected that was making him smile. He turned and looked at the ones who lay on the floor behind him.
A voice spoke “Gallus,” It was focused on a young gryphon before it shifted towards a changeling, “Ocellus,” It then showed a hypogriff, “Silverstream,” A yak was then revealed, “Yona,” a dragon was followed up, “Smolder,” Then it came to rest on an earth pony, “Sandbar.” All six of them were sleeping peacefully next to one another. Each of them cuddled up and smiling happily; enjoying the warmth of the other. All of them were sleeping on a large blanket; made from the fur of two grizzly bears. The colt smiled happily at them; before he looked towards the entrance. It was revealed that they were all in a large forge. Outside the forge was a large home built into the side of a small hill. The hill and land around it was covered in a thick blanket of snow. More snow was falling from the sky and covering the already covered ground. He gently stepped outside and stood just in front of his forge. He looked up at the night sky; watching as the clouds above continued to drop the snow.
The voice spoke once more, “My name is Razor Edge,” It paused a moment before continuing, “I've lived in Ponyville for about a year now,” Razor then sat down as he continued to gaze upwards. Once more the voice added, “I......made some really great friends,” Razor smiled happily as the voice finished, “They helped me in more ways than I can count. And, they gave me something I thought I never would have.” It then began to fade to black as various whispers and voice echoed through the darkness.
“This story is our story; how they became my friends......my only friends.”
One year earlier
Razor sat just outside the principals office of the school of friendship. He could hear the social worker speaking with the head-mare of the school. The worker Miss Quill was explaining to Starlight glimmer about his case work. Possibly explaining what kind of a colt he was. Why he was living by himself and what his requirements were. He shook his head and released an irritated sigh before he stared forward.
He spoke in an almost robotic voice, “Anyone who has read this fanfiction the first three times it has been rewritten. Fair warning this is the last time; while for those who are just starting to read this. Hello, I am Razor edge; his OC who has autism. He is basing it off his little brothers spectrum disorder; while giving me his talent of metal work. And, before anybody says anything such as “Not all autistic people are like that.” “If you don't have autism you shouldn't write this.” “You should type him doing this instead of this.”. “One, he does have autism his is just not as sever as his brothers. Two, he never mentions it because people start treating him differently. Also, he knows each person with autism acts differently. He's using what his brother used to do when they were younger. And, three, he's getting tired of rewriting a fanfiction that he really wanted to write. But, lost his enthusiasm and will to write it because so many people got on their high horses and complained about the story. But, now he is done! He's writing it one more time, not as a fantasy like he originally planned or as a slice of life. He's writing it as a friend bonding story. One of those that make you feel warm and happy.” He paused a moment and looked around just to make sure he was alone still. He looked back at the screen and finished, “My fourth wall break rant is over. He's continuing the story before I'm made out to be a complete nutcase.”
He got up from the chair he was sitting in and started walking away from the office. The clopping of his hooves echoed through the halls as he walked through them. He passed multiple doors; hearing various voices and sounds coming from behind them. He turned and walked down another hallway. After a few more turns he eventually found himself at the entrance of the library. He smiled and walked inside; the library was huge and at the moment it was empty. Meaning it was quiet which was perfect for him. He walked inside and sat himself down at a vacant table. He used his magic to levitate the saddlebag he had with him onto the table. He opened it and pulled out a sketchbook and some pencils and erasers. Once he had everything placed on the table; he got up and walked to a nearby book case. He scanned it over a couple of times before he finally chose a book and walked back to the table. He sat the book down in front of him and he opened it to the index. He skimmed it over until he found the chapter he wanted. He opened it to the chapter; which had pictures of various swords. Along with the details and the materials used in their creation.
He read the book and soon turned his attention to the book he placed in front of him. With one of the pencils he began to draw in the other book. He continued to do this for a little over an hour. The school bell rang about three times; he ignored all three. The only thing that mattered to him was his drawing; he was so focused on it that he never noticed six other creatures walking into the library. The group consisted of one earth pony, a yak, a hypogriff, a dragoness, a gryphon, and a changeling. All of them were talking amongst themselves as they sat together at another table.
The gryphon commented, “Dang,” He yawned a little as he stretched himself out before he continued, “Anyone else feel like Professor Applejacks class was longer than usual?”
The earth pony answered, “Yeah,” He also stretched himself out before he continued, “It felt longer than usual for me too, Gallus.” He yawned also.
The group continued to talk amongst themselves for awhile. That was until the changeling of the group noticed the unicorn sitting at the other table. She asked, “Hey, has he been sitting there this whole time?”
The others looked at her and then followed her gaze. Each of them a little shocked to find out that there was another student in the library with them. They weren't the only ones in the school; oh no the school had a good amount of students enrolled in it. But, they were the only ones who had this period free. They usually used this time to either catch up with each other or to catch up on some homework. They stared at him for awhile until they looked at each other and back to him. Eventually, it was decided that Ocellus would be the one to greet him.
She walked over to the table he was at and smiled before she introduced herself, “Hello, My name is Ocellus. What's your name?” all she got for an answer was silence. He continued to just draw in his book; she was confused for a moment before she spoke again, “Um, hello?”
The colt continued to remain silent; he looked over at the book he was reading and then got back to drawing. She was about to speak again; only this time he finally spoke to her.
He said, “My name is Razor, now leave me alone.” He never took his eyes off the book; he only continued to read and draw. While Ocellus was left dumbfounded by him; her mouth hung open and her eyes were wide in shock. She did eventually back away and walked back over to the table her friends were at. Razor continued to read and draw; that was until he felt another presence near him. He looked up from the book and saw a gryphon with blue feathers glaring at him. They were silent for a moment until Razor broke the silence.
He spoke, “Your feathers are blue,” He attention then went back to the books and he finished, “I hate blue.” he then found himself shoved back a little; before he was forced to look at the gryphon again.
Gallus asked him in a voice filled with anger, “What is your problem?!”
Razor answered, “Nothing, I just don't like blue,” He tried to move back to the table; but the gryphon just pushed him backwards again. He spoke again, “Can you leave me alone please.”
Gallus almost roared as he spoke, “Not until you apologize!”
Razor asked, “For what?”
Now Gallus was starting to get mad; he nearly yelled, “Do you know how rude you were to her!?” he pointed at Ocellus.
Razor responded, “I simply asked to be left alone.”
Gallus growled and drew his other claw back; he was preparing to throw a punch. Until he noticed the colts horn glowing. He questioned, “What the?” it was then something hit him hard in the back of the head. Almost immediately knocking him to the ground. The item was revealed to be a rather large dictionary.
Razor commented, “I'm surprised you didn't notice my magic.”
It was then the dragoness shouted, “Gallus!”
Razor looked up and saw the others running towards them. The dragoness had unfolded her wings and was flying right at them. He kept his neutral expression as he levitated the book again and threw it at her. He watched as she dodged it easily; only to fly hard into the bookshelf. Because she had dodged to far to one side. He then focused on the hypogriff he ducked as she flew over him. Before he used his magic to pull something else out of his saddle bag. Yona was charging forward; yelling as she closed in on her target. Only to get smacked hard in the head by something. It caused her to stumbled and she crashed into one of the other chairs at the table. Both the changeling and the earth pony came to a stop. They both stared at him as he held what appeared to be a sword in his magical hold. Although it looked like a sword; the only problem was it was completely dulled. The blade had no edge at all; it was just a large metal club in the form of a sword.
He continued to stare at them; trying to anticipate the next move. He held his sword out in front of him in a defensive position. Both Ocellus and Sandbar continued to stare at him; neither of them wanting to get closer to him or the sword. Razor watched them carefully waiting patiently for them to make the first move. It was then he suddenly ducked; causing Gallus to go flying over him and into Ocellus. Both of them groaning at the sudden impact; while Sandbar was left completely stunned. Gallus had gotten up slowly behind him; so slow he hardly made any noise. How did the unicorn known he was about to jump him? When Sandbar looked back he got his answer. It was the sword; the metal was so clean it looked almost as if he was hold a mirror. He didn't need to hear Gallus he saw what he was about to do and reacted the moment Gallus attacked.
Gallus commented, “He's got some skills.” Slowly both he and Ocellus got to their feet; while Smolder and Silverstream regroup with them.
Smolder then spoke, “Come on,” She balled her claws into fists before she continued, “If all five us charge him we can take him down.” They each nodded in silent agreement.
All of them prepared to charge at him; while he simply put his sword away into his saddle bag. All of them then charge him; each of them yelling out as the closed the distance between them. Razor stood calmly his blank expression still worn on his face. Just as they were all within grabbing distance; he side stepped only to have all five of them crash into Yona. All of them landed on the floor in a mangled heap. Each of them groaning out in pain as they tried to regain their senses. Gallus rubbed his forehead as aching pain shot through it. He looked up to see the colt standing in front of them; causing him to growl.
Razor asked, “Are you all okay?”
Gallus stood up and threatened, “Last words?”
Razor answered, “Look up.”
Gallus did only to yell out in horror as he watched a book case come falling down. At the last second the book case was stopped by the table Razor had been sitting at. But, the books completely buried all of them. Razor could hear all of them underneath the books; it made him remember the countless other fights he had been in.
Razor asked, “Anything broken?” He heard a loud growl and a hiss in response. A gasp was followed by the hiss. He then commented, “I'm assuming only thing injured is pride.”
Yona yelled, “Yak gonna smash you!”
Razor responded, “Didn't do a good job at it a few seconds ago.” he knew he was making them mad.
Sandbar then yelled, “Just get us out from under hear!”
Razor replied, “I will if you don't attack me.”
Smolder growled, “No promises there jerk!” After that they each heard a small cracking sound.
Ocellus asked, “What was that?” the cracking sound was heard again.
Razor answered, “The table legs are breaking.”
All of them had their eyes go wide with horror; if the table broke the book case would fall and crush them. They began to quickly dig themselves out of the books; only to hear the cracking get louder and faster. They knew they wouldn't be able to dig themselves out in time.
Silverstream pleaded, “Hey, help us please!”
Razor responded, “Give me your word you won't attack.”
The cracking got worse just as Gallus shouted, “Now's not the time get us out!”
Razor repeated, “Give me your word you won't attack.”
The cracking was getting faster; meaning the legs were about to break. It was then Smolder roared, “We won't attack you now get us out!”
Razor quickly used his magic to get the book case off of them. They sighed in great relief as they were taken out of harms way. Yona looked over at the table; only to see that its legs were completely fine. She was about to question it until she heard the cracking sound again. They all looked to where the sound was coming from. In the colts magical hold they saw a thin piece of the bookcases wood. He was breaking it apart; while using his magic to amplify the sound.
Razor apologized, “I'm sorry to deceive you all like that. But, I had to make sure none of you would attack me,” He then used his magic to levitate the books back into place before he asked, “Anything injured other than pride?” that earned him more than a few glares.
It was then another voice spoke, “Oh, here you are.” each of them turned and looked to see head mare Starlight and another mare standing next to her.
The six of them spoke all at once, “Head mare Starlight.”
Razor spoke, “Hello, Miss Quill.”
The mare known as Miss Quill walked forward and spoke, “Ah, Razor,” A nervous smile stretched across her face before she asked, “Making friends already?” He voice sounded almost strained.
They all looked at him wondering if he was about to blame all of them for the recent events. He shocked them all when he answered, “Yes,” He then looked at them and nodded his head and then he looked at Starlight, “They were introducing themselves to me and were telling me about the school,” He then ended with a good comment, “They were very nice.”
They were all shocked by his sudden statement; he could have easily blamed the recent fight on them. Just like they could have easily done to him. But, instead he told Starlight that they were telling him about the school. Before any of them could say anything they heard Starlight say, “That's wonderful,” She looked at them with a grateful smile before she continued, “I'm happy hear all of you are doing the school proud. And, I'm happy to see you're getting along with your new classmate.”
All of them questioned, “Classmate?”
Starlight nodded and explained, “Yes,” She then motioned towards him, “His name is Razor Edge; starting tomorrow he will be your new classmate.”
Razor then asked, “I guess that means my enrollment went well?”
Miss Quill answered, “Yes, like she said you start tomorrow,” She then motioned for him to follow her before she finished, “Come on lets get you back home. We have got some papers to sign.” He nodded and grabbed his saddle bag before he followed her.
Before he stepped out of the library he turned and looked at the for a second. He then winked at them before turning back around. The two made their way out of the school and into the streets of Ponyville. They walked down the main street all the way to the outskirts of the town. They were walking down a country road. All was quiet and peaceful.
But, the silence was broke by Miss quills sudden question, “You got into a fight with them, didn't you?”
Razor answered, “Like the first two times, yes.”
She couldn't stop herself from sighing in slight frustration, “Razor, you need to stop getting into fights. You've already got two strikes against you; any more and you will.”
He interrupted her, “Those fights were in self-defense; just like this recent one. I simply asked to be left alone and I reacted to see a color I strongly dislike,” The statement earned him another frustrated sigh from her. He then commented with an annoyed question, “And, a strike system now?! Honestly were the two strikes meant to summarize the first two times I fought with them in the library?”
Miss Quill grew confused and asked, “What are you talking about? We started the strike system five years ago; long before you got in our system.”
He answered, “I wasn't talking to you,” He motioned towards the sky, “I was talking to him.”
She asked, “Him who?”
Razor grew irritated and spoke, “Hey, I get your mad about rewriting the story for the fourth time. But, can you please not make me out to be a complete basket-case,” He sighed in slight irritation before he continued, “I've had to put up with my parents either being killed or being abusive, being hunted down by a crazy mare because I'm a reincarnated sword master, and two bullies that were eventually going to kidnap and try to kill me. But, that last one never happened cause you lost interest in the story once again. So, please spare me from being labeled the crazy nut-case colt that has brain damage,” He then turned and looked at the mare and she was just standing there with no expression on her face; he sighed gratefully and finished, “Good, she didn't hear that. Can I go home now?”
Both him and her continued walking down the road; eventually reach his home. His home was a small house built into the side of a large hill. It's roof had a small garden growing on top of it. While half of its walls were built out of wood and stone. Beside the home was a small forge where he would work on various projects and jobs he was hired for. When he reached the door; he was given the paperwork he needed to fill out. While Miss Quill took the ones she needed to fill out. He made sure she was out of range before he sighed and opened the door to his home, “To those who know this story and who to the ones who are new. Please don't give him a hard time with the comments that I listed on the bottom of page one. He does want constructive criticism; he wants to get better at writing. But, he just doesn't want to put up with the comments like that,” He shook his head as he continued, “He's not trying to paint a bad image on autistic people or any form of special needs. He's trying to say just because I'm different it does not mean that I am different,” He looked up at the sky with a neutral expression and commented, “Really, that makes no sense whatsoever! Why would you type that?” He then shook his head again in frustration, “Okay, you already know you're probably gonna get those kind of comments from,” He paused for a moment only to finish with a small tone of irritation, “Okay, you are a complete ass. You typing this to make it look like I'm talking to you; which makes me look like I'm crazy. When in reality it's you who's crazy. Now let me go inside so I can rest up for the next chapter.” He then walked into his home and gently locked his door. He walked to his room and sat his saddle bag down on his desk. He then pulled out the paper work and began working on. Knowing it was going to take him about six maybe eight hours to finish.
He then commented as he started filling out the paper work, “I hate you,” He shook his head as he was unable to stop himself from filling them out, “I really, really, do.”
