Shade, an ex-changeling-love-collector, gets caught in the effects of an experiment designed to keep ponies alive after suffering mortal wounds until they can be treated by putting them in stasis. After being released from the stasis 200 years later, he finds his world to be long dead, and a life of suffering and hardship ahead of him.

Now he has to learn how to survive not only the dangers of the equestrian wasteland but also the shadows of his past that haunt him.
