My Little Saint

This is version beta, non checked by my editor. So there can be a lot of mistakes as I noted in "Read Me". If editor finish his work on correcting this, I'll change this prologue to better version.

Prologue

“Colgate!”

“Hmm…”

“Quick, wake up!”

“What… mommy, not now…”

“Come on Colgate, we have no time!”

Colgate slowly opened her eyes.

“For Celestia, what’s going on?!” asked blue, young pony very surprised by sight of also young, orange pony named Carrot Top, who was quickly collecting her arms. She was very upset.

“Can’t you hear this?! There are sounding the alarm, we must appear near Palaces of Zodiacs!”

“Alarm? Dammit!” shouted nervously Colgate and quickly woke up collecting her shield and spear. In the Grand Pope’s army she works from year. Since time of being a little foal she was dreaming about taking part in any big action. Now she had her chance at last.

“Lead” Colgate told to her friend, then they ran to the village, where afraid citizens looked out of the windows to check what is going on. They were afraid that could be attack of Poseidon’s Marines or Hades’s Specters. The others – ponies, which also have not got an energy named Cosmo, but were serving in the military, were running to the place, where the alarm bells rang.

Cosmo is a special energy of universe, which every saint of the Gods, like Celestia, could use in battle. Thanks this their attacks are stronger and their defence is more effective. But level of Cosmo is not same in every saint. Saints must train hard to discover their Cosmo, improve it level to higher and must learn how to use Cosmo.

It was the middle of the night. Sky above village was cloudless and starry, same as sky above 12 Palaces of Zodiacs, which built on high parts of mountains and guarded by 12 Gold Saints, towered majestically over village separating it from Pope’s Chamber and a tower, which was located near that. On their top a blue pony could notice a big hole, where a little pieces were still falling from. Between 12 Palaces of Zodiacs and Pope’s Chamber was also another tower. It was a Clock Tower, where instead of numbers were sings of zodiacs and time was showed by blue flames above signs. In this tower was a bell, where sound were coming from.

“I’m interested in what happened… Don’t you know Carrot why is alarm raised?” asked Colgate.

“How should I know?”

“Oh, welcome! I see the bells woke you up too!” called out Joe – burly unicorn, who quickly ran to those ponies keeping small sword in his hoof. “Come with me, I’ll lead you. We must appear near shortcut to Sagittarius Palace.”

“What happened exactly?” asked orange pony.

“So don’t you know anything?” answered Joe with raw face and after he sighted, said “We have got a traitor in the Sanctuary”

“A traitor? And I guess we must capture him, it will be so awesome!” shouted Colgate making a “wub wub” face.

“Yes, we have got. And we must capture him… her.”

“Yeah!”

“Calm down Colgate” Carrot Top told to blue pony. “But what happened rightly?”

“Sagittarius Saint have tried to kill Celestia!”

“WHAT?!” shocked two ponies shouted with citizens of village, which they were passing now. Then they could hear some comments like “How somebody dare to raise his hand to little foal!”, “Celestia just came back to Equestria after 240 years!”, “Shame, Gold Saints were disgraced!” or “Capture the traitor!”. Carrot Top was also hearing somepony calling “The horror, the horror!” and Joe could swear he heard another pony calling “Let’s ignore the gathering near shortcut and let’s to her home! We will ask a family, specially siblings about where the Saint escaped! They must know something!”.

“Fortunately to her room on the top of tower had went Grand Pope and thwarted attack” Joe continued. “But the assassin had created a big hole in the wall and escaped through it before he was caught. Those Saint now is trying to escape from the Sanctuary taking the Sagittarius Cloth together.”

“Haven’t those pony done enough today?” Carrot Top said indignantly. “There must be also cloth stoled?”

“Carrot, what you can do about that…”

“Don’t you understand it will be first time, when 12 Palaces of Zodiacs will be without all Gold Cloths?! Nopony know how it will affect the island!

“You’re complaining now. It’s just one cloth, what its disappearing can cause?”

“I don’t know. I’m afraid thinking about consequences. That’s why we must get back those cloth.”

Colgate was trying to understand what is going on here, but she was not able to. She had knew Sagittarius Saint, she had a lot of help from those pony in trainings. She remembered those pony as person loyal to Sanctuary, diligently fulfilling missions and taking care of family and its honour. She also heard that Sagittarius was a candidate for Grand Pope! But Sagittarius resigned and soon after that in the Sanctuary started to happen strange things. Duh, weird is an understatement, because how describe a situation, when Grand Pope disappear somewhere with some Saints (with one Gold Saint too), without any traces? Luckily new Grand Pope was chosen quickly – those all Lord Arles, who brought orderliness. Now suddenly loyal Sagittarius is trying kill Celestia, attacking Grand Pope, stealing cloth and escaping? There must be something wrong…

Joe interrupted her thoughts, who suddenly stopped, because they have reached place of meeting. It was a small gorge, which was going higher and higher and was ending beside Sagittarius Palace.

Sagittarius Palace was built in Doric style in the ancient times. On the enter to the palace were 2 centaurs standing – it were ponies, which higher part of body had torso and hands, lower half was just like typical horse body. Their hands were keeping taut bows directed into sky, like danger had to come from there. Centaurs faces shows readiness to guard Sagittarius Palace.

On the start of the road was an army of about 100 soldiers. In front of them was standing the biggest one. Orange earth pony with scary, little, black eyes and blue mane. On his very muscled body was shiny cloth in colours of black and red, with yellow patches – two on armlets and two in the middle of his chest. The lasts one were looking like eyes of scary monster. Those eyes were looking like those one decorating his helmet. In the final it was completed its destination – the other ponies were afraid of those guy, that is why he was respected.

“Thank you for your quick arrival” said those pony. “Firstly I will introduce myself to those, who haven’t met me before. I’m Phaeton and my task is lead you to mission of capturing a traitor, those…”

“It won’t be necessary” answered one voice behind speaker, then the whole crowd took a deep breath. Before everypony realised Phaeton being little stressed, he turned himself into direction of voice owner.

“But how?” he told to hooded person, who was slowly stepping in his direction. Finally when pony reached him, hood was removed. It was female light-green unicorn with mane partly in white and partly in light-blue colours.

“Oh, it’s Scorpio no Lyra!” whispered excited Joe. Colgate knew how much Joe was fascinated in Gold Saints, that is why every time he was seeing anyone of them he was trying to celebrate those moment in the best way he could. Whatever it was meaning…

“Capricorn already finished this.”

Some ponies and Colgate sighed unsatisfied.

“But how?”

“Normally. The traitor was trying to escape to port through shortcut under gorge. There he has met Capricorn Saint, who strongly hurt him and then he failed to the gorge.”

Through all ponies went one big murmur.

“I’ll also mention that abyss isn’t small and I don’t know if I could survive falling from those height” Lyra added, then whispering finished.

“What about a child?” asked somepony from crowd.

“Grand Pope let me inform you, Celestia is sleeping now safety in her tower.”

“For sure?” asked Phaeton.

“What, are you doubting Lord Arles’s words? Or maybe you also want to treat him?” Scorpius Saint answered angrily before Phaeton grew pale.

“No, no, no, of course…”

“So leave this place, there is nothing interesting to watch. And Phaeton?”

“Yes?”

“Grand Pope wants to see you tomorrow morning in Pope’s Chamber.”

“Okay…” then Phaeton told to army: “As how you can see, mission had was completed before we started. Thank you all for arrival, I’m sure Grand Pope will appreciate your readiness for action. Now go back to the village and I wish you a good rest.”

“Heh okay Colgate, let’s go…”

Colgate hardly sighed again, before she ran after Carrot Top to their home.

“Gosh, it was amazing! Scorpio Saint in the flesh! Damn, it was good Phaeton didn’t make her more angry, because he wouldn’t survive that” still talking Joe was the only one happy from unnecessary wakeup.

“It’s nice you are satisfied” answered Colgate. “I was scared about what if her wrath could turn against us…”

“Don’t be silly Colgate…” Carrot Top told to her friend, then she yawned. “That’s a pity that traitor is dead. I would like to kill Sagittarius Saint on my own, because of cancelling mine nice dream about carrots…”

“Alright, here I’m turning to my home. Have a good night” – said Joe.

“Goodnight.”

“Excuse me?”

To Colgate and Carrot Top went one older male pony. He had a beard, moustache and sideburns, every hair on his body was gray except fur, which was in light-brown colour. He was wearing suit and carrying a camera.

“Heh, tourist “ said Carrot Top “How can we help you?”

“I see all army coming back to the village and I am interested in case of safety of this place. I am just transit this village trying get to ruins of Celestia’s columns, when I am forced to stay here under threat of arrest, because of assassination or something…”

“Mister…”

“Mitsumasa. Mitsumasa Kido”.

“So Mr Kido, yes. Now is safe here, so you can go further.”

“Thank you. Could you also just show me a way?”

“Sure” answered Colgate. Carrot Top in her soul thanked her friend for not leaving her to explain this. “You go to north. When you will find a monument of pony-philosopher… Ponyto or how he was… it’s not important, you will recognize this. There you must turn left and go about 10 minutes.”

“Thank you good child. God bless you!” smiling Mitsumasa told to her, then he set off in the direction show by blue pony.

At last Colgate came with Carrot Top to home to go to sleep. Both ponies never thought that action from this night will have its consequences 13 years later…
