Welcome to Our Let's Play!
A camera spontaneously clicks on and whirs to life, its screen depicting a luxury known as a simple bedroom; a plain bed pushed into the furthermost corner of the room- away from the door, with its comforter hanging off the side as if the occupant had lazily tossed it off themself after waking up. Tacked to the white, featureless wall above the headboard of the said furniture is a poster of a blue-skinned female's grinning face with prismatic hair consisting of six colors contrasting that of a rainbow, and doodled with an autograph in inky-black cursive: 'To my number one fan, ~Rainbow Dash'. A word 'REC' bolded in red flashes up the top right corner of the camera's screen, accompanied with the all-too familiar red dot, blinking repetitively like it is corresponding to a morse code. Settled on the top left corner displays a green battery symbol with four smaller rectangular bars nestled inside, assuring the owner it is fully charged and ready for prolonged use.
Suddenly, the whole room inexplicably starts becoming smaller and smaller, whereas later it becomes bigger and bigger. The user was just panning the camera's vision in and out, testing its functions to ensure the device lives up to its money's worth. After configuring a few more settings, it is safe to say it was, without a doubt, adequately invested.
"Okay, girls," says an energetic, female voice, "thing's up and rolling." The owner holding the camera swivels it around, revealing her orange face; her dark pink, pixie short hair that really stands out, and below the bangs are the most piercing purplish eyes and a healthy and vigorous complexion equal to that of a teenager. Again the camera zooms out a little, showing the top-half of her skinny, athletic stature. She wears a simple white tee, short enough that it covers everything except her cute belly button. "Hey there dudes and dudettes," she announces with a victorious smile, oblivious to a pair of sun-yellow fingers peeking over the back of her head, parodying her like a rabbit. Another girl out-of-view softly giggles at the silly endeavor. "Name's Scootaloo! And here with me are my two best friends in the whole world: Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle!"
On her cue, two other young females appear on the video stream; a sun-yellow teenager jumps in from the right next to Scootaloo, drawls with a genuine, southern accent, "Ah'm Apple Bloom!" she smiles and waves her hand excitedly at whoever's watching. Living on a farm, Apple Bloom's country girl attire are of denim jeans rolled up to just below the knees, held up by a thick, brown, leather belt girdled around her eye-catching hip. Her shirt, just a plain green tee tucked into the jeans to make everything a bit more neat and tidy. Apple Bloom's licorice-red hair is more free flowing and longer than Sweetie Belle's. With long, thick, waist-length hair accompanied by her late mother's pink bow tied into her hair at the back.
"Hey guys," a girl chimes her trademark, high-pitched voice from behind the two, "don't forget me!" she objects while wiggling her way between Apple Bloom and Scootaloo. "Hello everybody," the girl waves with a flirty wink, "I'm Sweetie Belle!"
Sweetie Belle, being the youngest of the trio, wears a knee-length, yellow-pleated skirt with a light purple jumper and a striped pink shirt with alternating hues of pink. Everything is held together with a black waist belt, her elegantly quaft hair being held back out of her face with a violet headband.
Scootaloo wraps each arm around her friends' ribs and pulls them closer. "And today we three will be playing one of Capcom's best-selling title on the Wii console: Monster Hunter Tri!"
"A game where ya don some armor and battle ferocious monsters!" Apple Bloom adds.
Sweetie Belle, stepping back from her two friends holds her hands over her head with her fingers doing a mock claw imitation, grabbing her friends' shoulders with the intent to scare letting out a deep, but squeaky "RAWR!"
"Ah, a monster!" Scootaloo and Apple Bloom shriek playfully in unison. The three then burst out into a fit of giggles and laughter.
"Anyway," says Scootaloo, "we three will be playing Monster Hunter Tri together online. Watch as we immerse ourselves into a world housing the most notorious, rampaging monsters. Aptonoth, Jaggi, Rhenoplos. The number of monsters are limitless. Partake in gathering and hunting quests; slay the monsters to carve their hides and materials, and then you turn those hides and materials into unique suits of armor that grant different types of abilities! I, Scootaloo, will role as a blademaster; a hunter which specializes close-combat weaponry. I'll be using the coolest weapon of them all, the long sword!"
"And Ah, Apple Bloom, am also going to be a blademaster! Ah'll be using the hammer."
"I'm going to be the gunner-bow! Pew pew!" Sweetie Belle chirps enthusiastically, holding down her imaginary gun's sight.
"It's bow-gunner, Sweetie Belle." says Scootaloo, correcting her friend. "Yeah, she's a novice but don't worry, she'll learn as she plays. We were supposed to have another friend, Babs, join us to play, whom lent us this game to play."
At this point Apple Bloom butts in. "She couldn't be here today, unfortunately. But there's save files from other games she's played so we've already got a veritable armory of weapons and armor to choose from, as well as a fully stocked inventory of potions and power-ups!"
This time Sweetie Belle pipes up, "Babs will be joining us later on in the game, but in the meantime, all the monsters and level tiers have been unlocked, so it's just a matter of picking our weapons, armor, inventory items, and skill-boosting gems."
"Yup!" Scootaloo concurs and nods once. "And what do you know, we've about reached five minutes into the video. So we've got the game, snacks, drinks, a comfy couch; can you two think of anything else we're missing, aside Babs?" Scootaloo asks, to which Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom shake their heads in unison. "No? Awesome!" The camera's vision pans in close to the orange girl's face, obscuring her other two friends from the viewer's vision. "Until next time, we get right into the game. The road ahead will be tough, but with us three it should be a piece of cake! Let's get this party started!"
The three teenagers huddle close, faces touching each other's cheeks, and end the video with peace signs and raspberries.
