//-------------------------------------------------------// A Sister's Forgiveness -by LuluRainbow- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Sunshine in the Moonlight //-------------------------------------------------------// Author's Note My second fanfic, involving Celestia and Luna! Includes some sisterly snuggles too, and a very happy ending! Sunshine in the Moonlight It was a peaceful night in the fair land of Equestria, and watching over it was the elegant princess of the night. She stood on the moonlit balcony of the Canterlot castle. Ever since she had returned a long time ago, she had begun to love her night so much. She had felt no piece these past few nights however, and only regret. She and her sister had gotten into a bad fight a few days before, and Starlight Glimmer had to come fix it. Sure, Celestia said everything was fine, but was it really? And plus Luna had never told Celestia about the...Tabtabus incident. All this guilt had built up and she had been ignoring Celestoia lately As she turned around to go rest on her comfy bed for the night, she saw her sister standing there. Celestia donned a stern look, but had a glimmer of concern in her eyes. Luna silently gulped. "Please don't have anything important to ask," she pleaded to herself in her mind. Luna composed herself a little bit and asked the first question. "Big sister, what are you doing up at this time at night?" she asked to her big sister. "Little sister, I believe you know why..." Celestia responded, sounding slightly disappointed about what her little sister was hiding. "W-What do you mean?" Luna questioned back. She mentally yelled at herself for stuttering, knowing Celestia was decent at seeing through lies. "A while back...why did you create that monster? The one that gave you those horrible nightmares?" Celestia asked her sister, keeping a low and caring tone. She wanted Luna to stay calm and not feel uncomfortable. "W-who told you about that?" Luna asked sternly to her sister, dodging the question. "I don't think that matters in this situation, sister.. Just answer my question, please," Celestia responded to her sister, and her voice sounded sadder and more concerned now. Luna shot a little glare at Celestia. This is the confrontation she had dreaded for so long now. "I know you're my big sister, but this is none of your business. Now, sister, please get out of the roa-" Luna was unable to finish her sentence before Celestia responded. "Luna," Celestia said sternly to her little sister. Luna had heard that tone used by Celestia before. Many times when they were fillies and Luna had done something bad. "S-stop with th-that tone! I-I'm not...a little filly anymo-" Luna began to tear up a bit, and was unable to finish her statement. Celestia approached closer. Luna wasn't a filly anymore, she couldn't cry in front of Celestia. "Sit, please," Celestia commanded to her sister, using a calm and loving tone. Luna obeyed her sister's command and sat down. "Why do you want me to sit?" Luna questioned to her sister. Celestia sat down and embraced her sister in a hug with her wing. "S-stop i-it, Celestia. I'm no-not a little filly anymore. I don't n-need your c-comf-" Luna stopped, and realized her sister had not hugged her in quite a long time. It was nice. "F-fine," said Luna. Her eyes were soaked with tears. She really didn't want to cry, but she just couldn't hold back her tears. "It's okay to cry, Luna," Celestia said while adjusting her sister's mane slightly, "Please tell me what's been troubling you. It's evident you have a lot on your mind, even without those horrible nightmares. "I h-hate what I did, big sister. I hurt y-you. I h-hurt everypony, I hurt s-so...s-so many p-p-poni-" Celestia embraced her sister even deeper in the hug. "Luna, you...you weren't you. You didn't mean to hurt anypony. You didn't hurt anypony. Nightmare Moon did," Celestia said to her sister in a comforting tone, and she meant every single word she said. "A-and a f-few days ago...when S-Starlight was h-here. W-we, m-me and you, we weren't...I wasn't...we s-said things..." Luna starting sniffling loudly, and was barely able to speak amongst her tears. "I'm a bad pony!" Luna wailed to her sister. "Luna, you are a good pony, and the best sister I could ever ask for. Siblings argue all the time," Celestia said as she attempted to wipe Luna's tears with her hoof. "D-don't l-lie to me! Y-you h-hate me! I never sh-should of forgiven m-myself! Y-you banished m-me to the moon...I..." Luna began to lie down fully, and Celestia did too to maintain the warm embrace. "Why...d-do...why do y-you keep hu-hugg-hug," Luna began to hiccup uncontrollably. "Luna, it's because your my sister whom I love very much. I've already told you, it was Nightmare Moon who did this horrible things. I love and care for you, little sister." Luna looked into Celestia's eyes and whimpered out a response through her tears and hiccups. "I-I want to believe that," she whimpered. "Luna, I have something I want to tell you," Celestia told Luna softly. She had never told Luna, or really anypony, what she was about to say. Luna nodded her head, hoping her sister would know what she was trying to say. "There's a reason I'm so protective of you. It's because...when we were fillies, our mom, she really was an amazing mare, made me promise to never let you hurt me or you." Luna had stopped crying and looked up at her sister. There was a warm and caring expression on her sister's face. "You banished me to the moon when I was controlled by Nightmare Moon...that's...not protecting me. You were protecting yours-" "Luna," stated her sister somewhat sternly but with a touch of gentleness left in her voice, "I did it to protect you. I knew Nightmare Moon could hurt you. I had to banish you...to protect you." Luna smiled, and began to fully embrace Celestia's hug for the first time that night. She had never thought of that before, that her sister did her actions to protect her. "Big sister, I'm sor-" "Luna!" Celestia scolded, worried Luna had learned nothing. She gave a somewhat upset look towards hersister. "Wait, please let me finish! You'll like what I need to say," retorted Luna. Celestia nodded in agreement and felt relieved, knowing that whatever Luna had to say was important. "I'm sorry I punished myself with those nightmares, big sister. You've helped me a lot tonight, y'know. I-I felt guilty about the mean things I'd done to you, and I hadn't fully forgiven myself," Luna told her sister. The two were snuggled together in a sisterly embrace now. "Luna, you've helped me too. I used to think I was a bit of a bad pony, and despite everything I've told you I didn't know if banishing you was right. I neglected you so badly back then and-" It was Luna's turn to comfort her sister. "Celestia, that was over a thousand years ago. Don't concern yourself. If you can forgive some horrible thoughts I had back then, then I can forgive you," Luna said to her sister in a comforting tone. "You're right, we have so many years left to make up for the years we lost. Let's not judge each other for mistakes we made a thousand years ago. You are forgiven," Celestia finished her statement with a smile. "I forgive you too," Luna said with a smile. The two stayed lying down in a snuggle. "C-can we stay like this for tonight?" asked Luna. "Of course," Celestia responded.
