The last three days were just horrible for poor Redheart. The white earth pony nurse was just being worked down to the bone, from having to do multiple examinations, assisting in operations, and from handling most of the paper works and documents that the other doctors and nurses couldn’t get to, so it was left to Redheart to go over them, file them, and ensure that everything was properly documented for the more serious cases. The mare also had to deal with some patients that were just horrible to be around, such as an infamous cyan speedster that tried to play off a broken wing, to even having her flanks being groped by a stallion who was having a physical, there was even an incident when one cocky colt tried to hit on Red Heart, and even dared to make a few passes at her.
Redheart had to put up with all that, while only operating on three hours of sleep for each of the three days! But for now, Redheart was in a more happier mood, as today was the end of her torturous time at Ponyville General Hospital and would be the start of her long overdue week long vacation. “Finally!” the mare said with a voice both exasperation and relief, the former feeling being the culmination of her maddening work load. “My week long vacation, she has cometh!”
“Sheesh Red, I don’t think I’ve seen you look this happy in forever.” Another nurse, an earth pony named Snow Heart, says as she looks from her own stack of papers.
“After the last few days I’ve had to deal with, including today, this is a bucking Celestia-sent gift!” the mare says as she waggles her hooves.
“Lucky you, I still have two more days of dealing with these horse apple documents!” Snow Heart grumbled as she slides a paper off to the side, before starting to go over a new slip.
Redheart looked up to a nearby clock on the wall, and saw that it read six pm, a small groan escaped the mare as she still has about, and hour of her shift left. But the prospect of going home soon kept her trucking forward with her work. so for the next sixty minutes, Redheart poured herself into her work to get things over with as fast as she could. However the mare’s night would continue to be plagued with blight.
“Hey there mare.” Redheart groaned as she heard the voice of a familiar stallion she met, and has unfortunately continued to meet, for the past two days.
Standing at the desk, or more accurately leaning on the counter to get a better look at the nurse, was a tall fairly built brown coated earth pony stallion. His mane and tail are well groomed, and were a shimmering black color, with a few dirty blonde strands. All in all by pony standards, this stallion looks rather handsome, although Redheart knows what his personality is really like. And it’s not as charming as the stallions looks.
“Heartthrob I already told you, if I ever saw you here I will have the security staff escort you back out!” Redheart said in a mild-stern tone, as she doesn’t want to deal with a stallion that not only groped her flanks, but has been trying to get the nurse to go out with him.
“Come on sweet cheeks, what’s the problem in going out with somepony like me?” Heartthrob said to the nurse, who just internally groaned in annoyance.
“Well there’s the fact that I already have a special someone.” Heartthrob just scoffed while also snickering.
“You mean that lanky hairless—”
“If you finish that sentence I will throw you out of this hospital, myself!” Redheart warned as she stood up from her chair.
“What?” Heartthrob said nonchalantly. “Everypony knows your only looking after, and being with that thing because you feel bad for it.”
“I’m warning—”
“I mean you can’t possibly actually be in love with that thing, no pony in their right mind would ever find a tall, hairless, scrawny—”
Heartthrob was silenced from his rambling, to shouting ‘Ow’ as he was being dragged out of the hospital by the scruff of his neck, by a very angry Redheart. As the nurse was dragging the stallion towards the entrance of the hospital, ponies watched in shock as the usually well-mannered mare was hauling the stallion away, before tossing him out.
“This is your only warning Heartthrob, leave now, and if I ever hear you talk about him like that again I will really have to put you in a cast!”
Heartthrob quickly got to his hooves, and ran off with his tail between his legs, leaving Redheart at the hospitals entrance. The mare snorted as she re-adjusted her nurses cap, before trotting angrily back to the front counter and plopped down on her chair. Head being placed in her hooves as she sighs in annoyance.
“Red, are you alright?” Snow Heart asked her friend.
“No I am not.” The nurse shot back.
“Red don’t let that colt get to you. he was just spewing nonsense about things he doesn’t know.”
“He’s not the only one.” Redheart says in a low tone.
“Virtually everypony thinks this way about him. they all mock him and bash him when he’s not around, and the times he does leave the house…they all ostracize him. the only places he feels safe and secure is with me, Twilight’s library, or down at Sweet Apple Acres.”
“Red not everypony is like that.” Snow Heart tried to comfort her friend as she scoots over to her. “I mean I’ve met him, and he’s nothing more than a big sweetheart.”
“He really is…but everypony else treat him like he’s some weird alien that’ll eat their brains, and lay eggs in their stomachs.” Red says in a more angered tone. “He’s even stopped going down to Applejack’s farm to see if the way to his home is back or not.”
“…well…it has been four months since he was found in that crater.” Snow Heart recollected. “By the way, is his arm doing better? It was nothing more than burnt skin and torn muscles.”
“He is finally able to move it, but he can’t hold or lift things that are heavier than a thick book.” Redheart says as she leans back into her chair. The nurse then looked over to her friend with a small frown.
“Snow, what do you think I should do? I want to make his life better here, but I can’t come up with anything to do that.” Snow then brought her friend into a close hug.
“Don’t give up Red. I’m sure he appreciates everything that you, Twilight, and her friends have been doing for him.”
“I just wish I can do more for him.”
“I think just being there for him is enough.” Snow Heart said as she nuzzled her friend. “By the way, how is your relationship with him going?”
“A lot better than ones I have with stallions.” Redheart remarks. “Unlike stallions, who think because they are a rare bunch, they think they can just waltz around like a damn celebrity, and expect a mare will suck their dicks, like Heartthrob!”
“And what about him?” the other nurse questions.

The two nurses continued to talk about the relationship that Redheart has with her new partner, which Snow Heart seemed to be enjoying hearing how her friends latest escapade in romance was going. Leaving the hospital Red Heart began to make the journey home, but before she fully does she had a few places to go to. One of which was the local grocery store, which thankfully was still opened, but she would also have to go and visit Twilight’s library. The unicorn has a, special, package that the princesses have delivered to the library for the nurse to pick up once she clocked out. After spending some time gathering what she needed, and using a rental cart to carry her goods, the nurse then made her to the Golden Oaks library to pick up the special package. But as she trots through the town, what little ponies were still out gave her a wide berth, and Red Heart can hear some of them whisper under their breaths.
“Is she still keeping that alien thing in her house?

Redheart could only snarl under her breath, because if there is one thing the middle-age mare can’t stand is prejudice, especially towards those that don’t deserve it. Ignoring the rumors and gossip coming from the other ponies, and continuing to trot through the town as the moon and stars start to fully emerge in the night sky, the nurse approaches the library where she began un-hitching herself from the cart. Once she was free from the cart, the nurse trotted up to the door where she knocked and waited, which didn’t take to long as the door opened and showed the arbor structures curator standing before the nurse.

“I’ll grab the package that Celestia delivered to us, be back in a second.” The mare trotted off to a side door, and headed down to where the basement was, leaving the older mare alone in the library where Red began to browse the books.
“Maybe I should get some new books for him to read.” The nurse thought aloud as she continued to scan over the books, looking for something that her housemate might like. As she looked through the books, Twilight emerged from the basement with a white box held in her magical aura.
“Here it is.” Twilight said as she levitates the box to the older mare.
“Thank you Twilight, again, I really appreciate that you and the princesses look out for him.” Twilight just shook her head before using her magic to brush her bangs out of her eyes.
“It’s no problem Redheart, I just wish ponies would stop thinking he’s some kind of monster that’s just waiting to hurt everypony.”
“That’s the problem with ponies Twilight, whether we like it or not, if something is different or unknown to us we shy away from it.” Redheart says as she places the box on her back, feeling the slight chill emanating from it.
“Maybe. But I think if other ponies give him a chance, I’m sure they’ll like him.” Twilight says with a bit of optimism, which brought a small smile to the older mare’s muzzle.
“Perhaps.” Redheart then looked over to the shelves before looking back to Twilight. “Do you mind if I grab some books, I think he would like something to read.”
“Of course!”
With Twilight’s permission Redheart began searching for books for her lone housemate, and after picking a few books the nurse gave the librarian another thank you, and left the tree-brary to head home with the carts of goods re-attached to her.

Twenty minutes of trotting through Ponyville later and Redheart finally reaches her street, and began trotting up to the small hill in where her house was situated next to. the structure was a nice old two story building, with an old fashion brick exterior, one of the few houses of Ponyville constructed as such, with a large brown picket fence surrounding the property. Pushing the front gate open the nurse trotted up to the side cart garage that was attached to the house, again another rare feature for any house of Ponyville, where upon entering the garage the mare un-hitched herself from the cart and opened the door off to the side that lead to the main houses kitchen.
Entering the house the mare took in the scent of her home, smelling the aromas of the house that she’s familiar with, and hasn’t gotten to in last three days as she slept at the hospitals built in dorms. Trotting through the building the mare set out to look for her special someone to help with the groceries, crossing the main entry hallway and into the living room, which was the most spacious spot of the house, is where the other occupant of the house was.
The other occupant was laying on the floor, as the couch and chairs were to small for it, basking in the glow and warmth of the fireplace on the far wall. Approaching the large figure Redheart looked the figure over, looking at the loose fitting grey pants and a pale blue shirt. The head of the creature, which was graced with a head of short dirty blonde hair, was laying upon a pillow with a book and an empty plate sitting next to him.
“Jon?” Redheart says softly as she gently shakes her housemate awake. “Jon, wake up.” The tall figure slowly came around to waking up, tired blue eyes blinking lazily before they peered up to meet Redheart’s own light blue eyes.
“Red!” the figure, Jon as the nursed addressed him, said in a happy tone before rising to a kneeling position and wrapped the mare in a hug. One that Redheart wholeheartedly accepts.
“Have you been doing well Jon? I’m sorry I haven’t been around for a while, but work was just a nightmare.”
“It’s alright Redheart, I know you work really hard. Especially since you have to provide for me.” Red Heart nuzzled the crook of Jon’s neck as she basked in his warm embrace.
“You make it sound like you’re a burden Jon.” Red Heart commented.
“Sorry. I know it’s not like that.” The mare gave a small chortle as she breaks the hug.
“I’m sorry that I had to wake you, but I need help bringing in the groceries.”
Not even saying anything, the tall human stands up and follows the nurse to the garage, where they began the task of bringing in the cargo of the cart into the kitchen, and placing them where they should go. As they do so, Redheart keeps a close eye on her human partner, making sure that he doesn’t push the limits of his partially ruined arm.
“Oh, by the way Jon, I got your package from the princess for you.” Red said as she trotted into the kitchen, the white box balanced on her back. Jon in response gives a small sigh.
“Red, you know that you, or your princesses don’t need to go out of your way to get me this.” The nurse shook her head as she gently pops the box off her back and onto the table.
“Jon, you know you need to eat this, otherwise you won’t get the proper diet that you need.” The mare says as she looks up to her human partner.
“You don’t need to worry about it disturbing me with your consumption of meat.” Just then the sound of a grumbling stomach from the tall human caused a small chuckle to escape Redheart’s muzzle. “And it seems your stomach is hungry for some meat.”
Deciding not to press the issue any further, Jon just accepted the special package of meat, and continued to help Redheart bring in the last of the supplies and groceries in. once everything was brought in Redheart hitched herself back to the cart, and brought it all the way back to the grocery store to return it, now the mare could’ve done it in the morning but the nurse wanted to get it out of the way now, so that she can spend tomorrow just lounging around her house with her special someone.
