If you Depend on Others...
The day's work continued. Since we last checked in with Jimmy Hook (a man whom could never been seen without his Hook, thought it was his surname rather than an attachment to his hand), much has happened. As a matter of fact, a short while has passed since anything last happened to him, which is to say relatively little, having vanished somewhere before mysteriously teleporting into a house somewhere (rather odd, eh?). Anyways, I should spare you my bizarre and strange ramblings, and get on with the story as any good narrator should.
Did I ever tell you about oranges? They are very nice and quite juicy.
Sorry, I'll get back on with the story.
The small Island of Bodie was currently quite the hive of activity. Lorries were supplying bricks and construction materials to the island both day and night, as well as an on site smelting yard which was currently making iron and steel.
What for, you may ask? Simple, actually. Ever since it had been destroyed in a large scale explosion, many folks had come together to reassemble the Bodie Island Lighthouse. This would be the fourth such structure to have stood on the Island, as the first fell over in a storm and the second was blown up by the Confederate Army to prevent the Union from using it.
The metal frame and upper supports were fully assembled. To improve the structure's efficiency, the brickwork was merely a shell, and the metal frame took all the weight. The brickwork was now being slotted in. The structure would have thousands of bricks once finished, and this was critical to keeping the structure blending in with the local area. The previous building had also been made of brick, which made it an absolute nightmare in terms of maintenance for the National Park Service, so the new steel building should hopefully be easier and cheaper to maintain.
The smelting shop on sight was currently busy assembling the support case and upper housing for the light. This was being built on the ground and then hoisted into position, being put into position and slotted into place like a giant Lego set. The welding was only to hold the main tower together, and even more windows were being put into place, complete with self cleaning equipment in order to deal with the age old problem of glass steaming up in this sort of weather.
Jimmy was working in the metal shop as well. He was clad not as he usually was, but instead he was wearing a black bodysuit with plating on top. This bodysuit was meant to cool him down, and the plating would have come in handy if anything hot got spilled, as the intense heat would be absorbed and channeled down (not to mention molten liquids would flow away). He continued with his work with a welder (he could do many things) and picked through the metal parts to see what would go where.
"OK, the worselled gambone attaches to the zeebled flibidigibit, and the crossplate bolts onto the gear spangle." Jimmy was, of course, making it up as he went along. But something else in the mess, as he fitted another iron plate to the upper housing, drew his attention. He bent down to look at it, and what it was surprised him.
It was a metal plate that was designed like an armor plate, which looked like it would bolt into place on the side of the armor worn by a horse. He put it on a table, when it suddenly lit up. And sent him flying into a mass of metal.
Once he came to, he brought his hand up to look at it. Only it wasn't a hand. It was a hoof. As he rolled forward out of the mess, he realized his back was all crooked and he couldn't stand properly. As he tried to adjust, he fell again and landed on all fours, just as his workboots reshaped alongside his feet into hooves with armored horseshoes attached.
This process repeated when his other hand became a hoof, and also gained armored horseshoes. His body shrank down as the bodysuit stayed on him, the plating shifting about and morphing into barding. The offending plate from the workbench then attached itself to his left flank, followed by a magenta tail popping out of him as his junk vanished.
Speaking of purple, her hair became a magenta Mohawk as her ears slid up her head to be like those of a pony. Her eyes enlarged and turned turquoise as her entire body was covered in purple fur, with a scar over her left eye. Her nose and mouth moved forward into a muzzle as the fragment of a horn appeared in her forehead.
Tempest Shadow shook her head as she surveyed the terrain before her. Her airship had landed in the courtyard of Canterlot Castle. This was simply to be the latest in a long line of countries that would feel the Storm King's wrath.
"And now, to deliver the evil, evil methage, put your hooveth together for Commander Tempeeeetht!"
That was her cue to move forward and speak. Grubber was an idiot, but he was fun to keep around, if only to keep to make fun of. Before her, she saw all four Princesses of Equestria. She had heard they were powerful, but also incompetent given how often evil villains seemed to knock them out of action. Not that she was evil, of course. Her grievances with pony society were perfectly justified.
"'Tempest', is it? How may we help you?" asked Princess Celestia.
Tempest snorted. "Oh, I'm so glad you asked. How about we start with your complete and total surrender?"
The small lavender one, which Tempest didn't recognize, spoke up next. "Hi there. Princess of Friendship. Not exactly sure what's going on, but I know we can talk things out."
Tempest adjusted her hoof, a gesture that would mean nothing to the assembled ponies, but it was a signal for the gunners onboard her flagship to prepare to fire. "Oh, goody. All four Princesses," she said to herself. She then addressed the assembled ponies of Canterlot. "Here's the deal, ladies. I need your magic. Give it up nicely, please, or we make it difficult for everyone!"
Luna snorted at the thought of this upstart demanding anything. "And why should we cower before you? There's one of you and hundreds of us."
"But you lack the guns we have," Tempest thought to herself. "I was hoping you'd choose 'difficult'. Fire!"
