Cadance had never been the kind of person to go about and deliberately make enemies. She’d spent most of her life with an intentionally pleasant, loving view of others. Sure, not everyone in the world was always going to be a loving, happy person; no one could be that all the time. But the sorrowful actions of others hadn’t ever defined how she treated them in return. A little kindness, a soft-spoken word, maybe even a simple gesture was all that was needed to help jolt the senses into something natural- something good. Cadance had always found the time to be friends to everyone she’d met, and no one had ever been able to change that.
All except for one.
She’d been running late to school, despite her best efforts to get there early. A late night over homework had never been her favorite pastime, but being so close to graduation had brought in the senior slump that was often better known as apathy. When she at last found an untaken parking space in the school lot, a quick glance at her watch said that she only had a few minutes before the bell rang; run or be late were her only options now. With the halls thankfully empty, save for other latecomers like herself, Cadance was able to avoid being caught at such a thin margin for error and raced to her first class, trying not to slam open the door as she walked in-
“Ooh, so much for model student.”
And immediately she heard the low, sneering voice of the one person she’d ever met that she had never liked. Her mood, already frayed by anxiety, became sour. Cadance tried not to sigh too audibly as she looked over at the desk closest to the window and saw the evil grin of Chrysalis, school’s community bad girl and Cadance’s primary antagonist.
“Cadance, you’re nearly late,” her teacher said, a baggy-eyed woman who looked desperate for another cup of coffee. “I was about to finish roll.”
“Sorry, Ms. Raven,” Cadance replied shamefacedly, aware of just how many stares she was getting. She’d never gone out of her way to be a top-tier student, she just made an effort in her work. This lapse of punctuality just wasn’t usually her thing. “It won’t happen again.”
“I hope not, I’d hate to see you start to stumble now,” Ms. Raven said. “Take a seat, I’ll make you as present.”
Cadance’s gaze turned to her usual place and found it occupied; a swift sweep of the entire room showed that, to her horror, there was only one seat still available and it just so happened to be right beside Chrysalis.
Because of course. So that’s how her day was going to be.
Chrysalis was grinning even still as Cadance tried to quietly take her seat, the unfriendly leer burning into the lovely girl’s mind even as she kept it out of sight. Had this been deliberate, some act by her foul opponent to stay close to her primary object of derision? She wouldn’t put it past the brute; Chrysalis had no real reason to hate her, but seemed to constantly antagonize her solely for some sadistic pleasure that she couldn’t possibly fathom.
“Did you enjoy all the eyes on you?” Chrysalis asked of her, voice kept quieter than a whisper. “Just always have to have everyone’s attention.”
“It was on accident, Chrysalis,” Cadance said patiently, with much more patience than she actually now possessed. Being so tired didn’t really help things.
“Oh, is that so? You just happen to be recently single and all of a sudden you’re late.”
“I dumped him over a month ago. This has nothing to do with it.” Even a dig at her personal life, what was the point of it?
Chrysalis continued to smile, those half-lidded eyes boring into her foe like needles. “I can’t wait to actually hear the reasons why. I bet all the rumors are true, too.”
“There are no rumors, Chrysalis,” Cadance whispered, perhaps a little more fiercely.
“Of course. Pretty little princess has to keep her nose clean, doesn’t she? Can’t let the truth come out,” the dark-haired girl sneered.
A little too close to home. “Chrysalis, you had better shut your mouth or else-”
“Cadance, Chrysalis- we’ve started the lesson, I don’t need to hear you talking,” Ms. Raven called, disapproval etched in every corner of her face.
Chrysalis shrugged it off as she’d always done, but Cadance again turned red in the face. She hadn’t realized how loud the miserable bully had gotten her to be!
“Last chance, Cadance. Come on now.”
“Yes- sorry, Ms. Raven,” Cadance mumbled, trying not to look anywhere but at the folder on her desk. Not at her teacher, not at the grinning faces of her fellow students, and especially not at the victorious grin of Chrysalis. It had all been so plainly deliberate.
The rest of the day did not pass peacefully. The disgruntled mood she’d possessed from the moment she’d heard her enemy talk continued on with strength, despite her best efforts to keep it quelled. Cadance wasn’t snappish with her friends, nor was she sullen and angry, but there it lurked like a predator beneath the waves, eager for a meal.
It was a seed Chrysalis had planted, and the horrid girl was determined to see it grow. The two continued to pass each other by in the halls, far more than usual. Chrysalis would drop a sneering remark, Cadance would react – less and less peaceably each time it occurred. Her patience was wearing extremely thin and it was only Tuesday.
Cadance had hoped she’d be able to cool down with a workout- cheer practice that afternoon was usually exhausting, an effort that took a lot out of her and leaving little energy to spare for unwanted emotion. Unlike most days, the weariness she already knew only helped to exacerbate her feelings and leave her drained and empty. She was, of all things, a tired and unhappy person. It was a relief when the coach called the practice for the day and allowed her to finally head far away from this school.
“And here she comes, school’s most darling lady!” Chrysalis called as she saw her fair-faced foe walk down the halls. “She could’ve just changed in the locker rooms, but she had to make sure everyone saw her in her cheer outfit!”
Cadance had tried to take a shortcut through the halls and back to her car; she’d avoided a shower simply out of the desire to be home and away from this place. But the parasitic Chrysalis simply wouldn’t let her be, and simply had to be there when she’d tried to leave. It was like she’d guessed every one of Cadance’s thoughts.
“Go away, Chrysalis. Just leave me alone,” Cadance said, and not at all kindly. Her patience was nearly non-existent now, especially after exerting herself so forcefully.
“Oh, not so friendly,” Chrysalis teased. “Now that we’re seeing you for who you really are, I can’t decide what ‘b’ you’re more of- a bitch or a-”
It was the final straw. Incensed beyond anything she’d felt in years, Cadance grabbed Chrysalis by the arm and positively dragged her into a nearby classroom, slamming the door behind her before tossing the taller girl aside-
“Hey, what is your problem?!”
“You are my problem,” Cadance snapped angrily, arms crossed and armed with a vicious scowl. “Why do you hate me so much? I’ve tried so hard –for, for years to be nice to you, and not once have you ever tried the same for me! I don’t get what your deal is, why are you like this? I know you’re a total jerk, but you’re so much worse to me than anyone else!”
Chrysalis seemed somewhat taken aback by Cadance’s outburst, but her smirk only faltered for a moment. “Well,” she said with a flourish of her jacket, “I just know what you are. You think you’re so good at hiding things behind that sweet façade. Oh, but you don’t fool me.”
Cadance didn’t want to guess what that meant, so there she remained standing. “What are you talking about, Chrysalis?” she demanded.
“Oh, you mean you don’t know? Your pretty little boy-toy said he dumped you, you know.”
“We broke up,” Cadance said- but now there was a slight quiver in her voice.
“That’s not what he said at Brad’s party on Friday,” Chrysalis crowed, very clearly starting to go for the kill. “He got drunk and started saying all sorts of things about you. Like why he broke up with you in the first place, all because-”
“Chrysalis!”
“You had porn on your phone!” Chrysalis said triumphantly. “And… it was of women.”
Cadance was shocked silent, wide-eyed and clearly afraid. For the first time, Chrysalis wasn’t sure what to guess of the girl’s next move. A scream, an attack, or just a burst into tears? She loved the feeling of this silence, held so strong in her grasp.
“You’re a lesbian, aren’t you, Cadance?” Chrysalis asked, a smile so delightfully wicked on her face. “You like girls.”
“Chrysalis-” Cadance was struggling to talk, or maybe just to breathe. “You can’t say a thing. I swear, if you tell anyone, I’ll-”
“You’ll what?” Chrysalis taunted. “Aw, the school’s pretty little cheerleader likes girls and she’s so afraid to lose her reputation for being such a good little girl!”
“Chrysalis, you cannot say a thing!” Cadance fired back, tears of unknown origin actually starting to form in her eyes. “It’s not your right, don’t you dare!”
“I knew it. You’re just a coward,” Chrysalis sneered. “You’re afraid that they’ll judge you and not like you anymore, aren’t you? You don’t want to be seen in the same light as-”
“Chrysalis, please!” Cadance begged, slamming the taller girl into the wall and truly pleading for the secret to remain as such. “I- I can’t say it yet, I don’t know how to! My friends would- my parents-!”
“So what?” Chrysalis challenged. “Like it hasn’t happened to others before, like me. So what if they get mad? At least you’ll be honest about yourself.”
Cadance paused from her panic and actually took in her companion’s words so as to let them sink you. “Wait… like- like you?” she whispered.
“I like girls, Cadance. Like you ever noticed,” Chrysalis replied. “It’s not a big deal anymore. Just get over yourself.”
“But- Chrysalis,” Cadance hesitated, “I- I can’t. I don’t even know how!”
“Like this,” Chrysalis said fiercely, taking Cadance’s face in her hands and -before there could be an ounce of protest- their lips had come together for a kiss.
Cadance’s immediate instinct was to try and back away. Not a single ounce of touch from this girl, not for even the smallest moment! She tried to give a cry of protest that instead came out as a muffled squeak as her lips were held fiercely glued to Chrysalis’ and all the more so with every effort of resistance she tried to give. If someone came in and saw her kissing a girl, the secret would be out. But as it continued, she couldn’t ignore the far more pleasant aspects of the moment. Chrysalis, despite her harsh demeanor, was quite soft, her lips perfectly placed against her own. It wasn’t a brutish power that held them together but instead a well-honed forcefulness that still held a gentleness within it. Hands were holding her tightly, yet still seemed to caress her skin, even a gentle stroke along the contours of her cheeks. For a first kiss with a girl, it was a nice one.
They broke away and Cadance was left rather speechless, only a small intake of breath at the parting. She didn’t know quite what to make of what she was thinking, and even less of what she now felt.
“And how was that?” Chrysalis asked, bluntly but not unkindly.
“That was…” Cadance murmured. “That- it was really good, Chrysalis. I liked it.”
“Feel better?”
“I… guess so,” she answered, “but why did you kiss me?”
“Because I think you’re hot, Cadance,” Chrysalis said as though it were the most obvious thing in the world. “And I’ve wanted you for years. So get yourself figured out already!”
Cadance was surprised. Stunned, really, even more than when she’d been kissed. What a silly bag of clichés and yet there the two women stood together, still only inches apart and she now bursting with a heat that had finally been given a means to vent. And as she took in Chrysalis -long, glistening hair that fell down to a cute bottom, a tone midriff well-revealed underneath her top, an unmistakable bust and such a lovely face- she decided that it wasn’t such a bad time to try something new. “Kiss me again,” she said-
Chrysalis took her and kissed her, lips pressed so wonderfully deep against her own that all Cadance could do at first was sigh. Oh, oh that was so good, that deep unreachable itch she’d never been able to scratch! She wanted to melt into it and simply enjoy that blissful moment, to let Chrysalis’ kiss melt all her fears and worries away.
The heat within her, however, said otherwise. Cadance met the kiss with a fierceness of her own and the two women fell against the wall, their long-dormant passions quickly becoming fervent. She threw her arms around Chrysalis’ neck and deepened the kiss, eagerly matching the dark-haired girl’s affections with her revealed sensualities.
Chrysalis didn’t mind the eagerness in the slightest, her hands finding Cadance’s exposed waist and holding to her partner tightly, her leg slowly sliding in between and giving the seemingly pure girl a soft nudge in the regions below. “Ooh!” A small start of surprise as Cadance gently nibbled the tinge of her lower lips, pulling just a tad as she became carried away by the heat of the moment. “Looks like the innocent little cheerleader might be a bad girl in disguise,” Chrysalis purred.
“Shut up and keep kissing me,” Cadance said, pressing hard against Chrysalis- adding further fuel to the fire when her hips began to buck against the vibrant woman’s own-
“No,” Chrysalis said wildly, taking Cadance in her arms and throwing her down onto a nearby desk. “I want you right now, I’m not waiting!”
“Chrysalis, you- aah!” Before the timeless beauty could protest further her top was torn down, revealing magnificent breasts that Chrysalis lavished with longing gazes. Lips pressed against nipple and then traveled further below, a trail of sloppy tonguework down the waistline and then at the edge of her skirt. “Oh my god…”

Cadance cried out, all too loudly; a strong kiss silenced her and the tanned woman found her mouth forced open by the wild strokings of Cadance’s tongue. Oh. Chrysalis’ nearly deflated mood suddenly found air again and she smiled. “How about my place?” She suggested, pulling Cadance into a close embrace. “My parents are gone till next week- plenty of time to get to know each other.”
“Sounds like fun,” Cadance affirmed, leaning in for a far gentler kiss, slowly separating so as to enjoy the flavor. “I owe you one.”
“Yes you do,” Chrysalis replied, taking her soaked fingers that had become so easily soaked and sucking them dry. “You taste delicious.”
Cadance smirked, looking just a tinge like the girl she’d once so vehemently misunderstood. “I can’t wait to find out what my girlfriend tastes like, either.”
Chrysalis laughed, keeping her arm around the beautiful woman’s waist, leading them to the door and out to their carriage that would whist them away to a long, happy night. “And I cannot wait for you to find out.”
