"Another card trick? Please? Please? Please? Please? Please? Please? Pleeeeaaaaaaaaaaasseeeee?????" Cleo pestered, she was behind William, William was on the bow with his hands on the railings. William's eyes were widened with frustration, sixteen tries, sixteen failed attempts to get Cleo off the ship. Verona stood there on the crow's nest searching unceasingly for an island, any island that they could land and get the hell out of there. Pearl was walking up to Cleo from behind with a wooden plank in hand about to beat the shit out of Cleo, Duros saw this and raced to stop Pearl. He succeeded and was now holding her back.
"Let me at her, I can get her off this ship. For good..." Pearl said darkly, Duros grunted as he tried to hold Pearl back.
"We can get her off when she shows us where G4 is!" Duros pushed on backward making Pearl follow as well, Louis Le'cloque was standing on the main deck.
"Why does everyone wants Cleo off the ship? She isn't doing anything? It is not fair." And the sad French music starts playing. Ragnar stood next to William also frustrated.
"You know what they say, William, seventeen times the charm." Ragnar tried smiling but it came out as a frown, William slowly turned his head to Ragnar, the sound of his head turning to Ragnar sounded like a rusty gear grinding against another rusty gear.
"You said that last time, and look how well that turned out?" William twitched.
"Ya don't know unless ya try! So let's-" Ragnar was cut off by Verona.
"I see land!" Verona shouted which suddenly caused everyone on the ship to lighten up as they raced to the bow which William and Ragnar were already there. It was true, it was an island!
"Alright, we're stopping there to refill on some supplies. Cleo, you stay on the ship." William said as they close in on the bay, Florance was steering the ship.
"What? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! I wanna get off the ship, I don't wanna stay here! Can I come with you? Please? Please? Please? Please? Please? Please? Please? Please? Please? Pretty please with a cherry on top?" Cleo begged.
"I love cherries!" Duros chimed in, William turned to Duros.
"Don't give her ideas Duros," William said through his teeth, Cleo looked at William with puppy eyes which was ironic given that she has a cat on her shoulder. William was a tough and cruel man, he stole and killed many but damn, her eyes was too much for him.
"F-f-fine..." William gave in, the crew looked at William with an "Are you serious?" face, "Gravy, Florence, guard the ship." Gravy and Florance nodded, signaling that they will. As they went into the bay they looked around, the buildings were so tall they reached the clouds themselves they were also made out of brick, metal, and even concrete.
"What is this place?" Verona said out loud.
"I don't know friend, the buildings in any marine base I've seen aren't even this advanced, not that I've seen a lot of marine bases but still!" Duros looked at the buildings with wonder.
"What is that?" Pearl looked to the sky as multiple bug creatures filled the sky and land on the main deck behind the crew, William facepalmed slowly.
'Why is it that when we do something or go somewhere someone gets on our ship?' William asked himself, Verona looked at the bug creatures, he counted ten of them. There was one in the middle that struck him as different, the one in the middle had armor on, the armor was pitch black and there was some green in the chest plate. Verona started to analyze these bug creatures, the bugs were quadrupeds, the bugs were fully black with blue eyes, they had blue wings, a horn on their heads, a tail, and holes in their legs. Verona raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
"Who is the captain of this vessel?" The leader said looking at the crew, Gravy and Florance were hiding farther in the back, trying to not get spotted. The crew turned to William who was right behind everyone, the crew stepped aside and William was in view.
"Uh..." William cleared his throat "That would be me, I am the captain of this ship." William stood proud with a grin on his face, Pearl could've sworn she saw a little shine on Williams's teeth.
"Well, I'm going to ask you to turn away from this island. We don't allow outsiders here and by the looks of it," The leader looked up to the mast and he sees the jolly roger. "You guys are pirates, and we don't allow pirates or outsiders here."
"Well listen up, bug face, we've been floating about at sea searching for an island to escape this annoying... this annoying bitch! So if you have a problem with that, then I'll have no problem burning you alive." Pearl glared at the leader of the group, the crew were wide-eyed at Pearl's comment. William sighed.
"Welp, I guess we can't help it." William shook his head as he grabs his steam-powered pistol and shoots the leader square right in the forehead killing him instantly. Before his body even dropped to the floor, Ragnar transformed into a bear and got out his ax, and started to do what he did best, cutting. He cuts down one bug creature, cutting it like a tree, and went on to the next and did a vertical slash downwards cutting him into two. By then the seven bug creatures registered that they were being attacked, a bug creature lunged at William and tackled him to the ground, the bug creature then bit onto his neck like a vampire. William grunted as he tried to get the insect off of him.
"Captain! You vile insect, no one hurts my friends!" Duros ran at the bug creature and stabbed him with Benevolence, the bug creatures body became limp, Duros then got out his mace and threw it at the bug that was approaching Ragnar from behind.
"Take that, a mace to the face!" Duros laughed, Pearl turned into her hybrid dragon form which surprised the bug creatures.
"She's a dragon?"
"She can change form?"
"Is she some type of dragon Changeling?"
Verona, again, raised an eyebrow at that comment, Changeling? He was now analyzing the situation yet again.
'Changeling? I've only heard myths of those creatures, Changelings are bug-like creatures that can change shape and form into whatever they please. It is also said that they feed off of love like mosquitos, wait does that mean...?' Verona's eyes widened and he turned to Pearl.
"Pearl, are you a dragon Changeling?" He shouted over, Pearl looked to Verona with a stupid look on her face.
"I-I don't think so." She stammered, Verona then connected the dots and realized what they were fighting right now were those love sucking monsters! Pearl was now on the attack as she grabbed a Changeling by the head and snapped it's neck, making him face his backside. Before the Changeling could drop, Pearl flew at the next and helicopter kicked its right cheek which slammed his head into the ship, his head dug deep into the ship but nothing Ragnar can't fix. Three Changelings were left, Louis Le'cloque jumped into action ready to prove himself to the crew, he stabbed one with his rapier, barely piercing its exoskeleton. He stabbed it once more but this time in the eye, the blade went through his eye and out the back of his head. Louis smiled and looked to Cleo for some type of moral assistance, she who wasn't paying attention to anyone and was just watching Verona and snacking on some biscuits Gravy prepared for the crew. The sad French music starts to play as he lowers his head, disappointed and sad. Two bugs looked at each other and tried to bail out of there, they flew as fast as they could. Verona sighed and loaded his bullets in, raised Little Timmy, and took two shots, and those two shots hit. The two came crashing down into the water, Verona put the muzzle of the rifle to his mouth, smoke coming from the rifle, and blew on the smoke making it disappear before resting it on his shoulder.
"Wow, you didn't shoot us this time? A new island, a new Verona I guess." William chuckled as he rubbed the wound on his neck, he scowled at the pain. Louis Le'cloque walked over to William and put a hand on his shoulder.
"Um, let me help you with that," Louis said as William's wound faded, and William sighed in relief.
"Thanks, Louis." William pats Louis' shoulder, Louis smiled.
"It is non problem my ami." Louis replied, William, walked over to the Changelings, and kneeled down to check their corpses. It looks like they had nothing on them, no weapons, no medical supplies, no clothes, and no gear. William stood up and looked to his crew who just shrugged.
"Again, Again, again! I wanna see it again! Can you do it again? Can you? Can you? Can you?" Cleo asked the crew who just stood there, with veins showing from their foreheads except for Louis who was next to the Changeling he slew.
"Anything for you my love." Louis whispered, Pearl heard that and turned to Louis.
"What was that?" She asked, Louis had a bead of sweat fall down his face fast like a bullet.
"U-uh nothing!" He turned away from Pearl and wiped the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief. Verona was weirded out by these beasts, they were weird and... bugs.
"What were they thinking? They couldn't threaten us with their presence alone or hurt us for that matter. They had no weapons, just their physical bodies, did they really think they could beat us with no weapons?" William asked himself.
"They're Changelings, they know magic," Verona stated, William's jaw hit the floor. "They feed off of love and they change to your loved ones, the one that you really love. They feed off that love and gain power, it also fills their stomachs. They can also change into anyone of us, so if we were to stop at this island we'll need to make a password to really tell if it is us or not." Verona said as Gravy and Florence popped out of their hiding spot, Pearl put a hand to her chin.
"Well, we Devil Fruit users could activate our Devil Fruits, I'm not sure of the people with no Devil Fruits though." Pearl decided Verona and William nodded, it was a pretty good idea.
"Well, I could do this." Duros proceeds to T-pose, Pearl and the boys (William, Verona, and Ragnar) quickly put a hand over their mouth to stop themselves from laughing.
"T-that could work." Pearl smiled, but then quickly frowned realizing what would happen if they left Gravy and Florence alone.
"I think I should stay here, imagine what those love sucking bugs would do to Gravy and Florence?" Pearl turned to William for his opinion.
"I can-" Before Louis could finish he was interrupted by William.
"No, no, I think Cleo should stay here," William said trying to steer Cleo to stay on the ship. Cleo was about to say something but Verona, at lightning speed grabbed one of Gravy's biscuits and shoved it in her mouth.
"If you stay here we will bring you a cupcake when we come back!" Verona said that all in one breath, he said that so fast only Cleo could hear it. She nodded slowly and held up her pinky finger.
"Promish?" Cleo said as she chewed on her biscuit, Verona held up a pinky finger, and the two pinky fingers wrapped around each other.
"Promise," Verona said as serious as death itself. Verona slowly let go and backed off, very slowly. When he reached the rest of the group Florence piloted the ship and they landed in port, the crew leaped off the ship and landed on the ground.
"Why am I here?" Louis grumbled, Duros turned to Louis.
"Because this is an adventure! Your first adventure as part of the crew!" Duros wrapped his arm around Louis to perform a side hug, Louis was now crushed by his side hug, as Louis was choking the rest of the gang were speaking to each other.
"Scout the area Verona," William whispered over to Verona who nodded and picked up a rock and held it in his palm. He used his Ani-Ani No Mi, the rock sprouted eyes, a mouth, arms, and legs, the rock was the size of Verona's palm.
"Your name is Caesar and you will scout the area," Verona said blankly, the rock nodded its head.
"It will be done, my lord." The rock had a British accent/speech impediment, the rock hopped off of Verona's palm and ran off, Verona then saw through Caesar's eyes. Caesar ran through the streets but remained hidden, there were Changelings patrolling the streets. Verona didn't want this rock to end like the last one so Caesar ran back to the group. Caesar hopped to Verona's palm and put Caesar in his pocket.
"Why are you keeping that one?" Pearl inquired turning to Verona.
"I don't want it to die like the last one." Verona glanced at his pocket, William shook his head.
"That's a nice thing for you to do Verona, I am proud." Duros smiled patting Verona's back, Ragnar turned to William but couldn't see him due to his height and low perception.
"What do we do now William?"
"I have no clue, but I think we should head for the forest." William pointed to the forest that was in front of them, it was going to take a while to get there but William sure that they would get there eventually. Keyword eventually.
"Then let us embark on this quest to go to the forest!" Duros raised Benevolence high as he marched on forward, the crew cheered and followed Duros's lead.
"Food... Beer... Food..." Ragnar was crawling on the floor, they had reached the forest but at what cost? They were hungry and tired. The trees covered the sunlight from reaching them so they were in the dark, literally.
"I could really go for one of Gravy's seasoned steak..." William grumbled as he dragged his feet across the fallen leaves.
"Oh and some of his baked, fresh out of the oven buns." Pearl drooled as she carried Louis who was too tired to go on.
"Oh-oh and his delicious soup!" Duros said aloud which caused everyone's stomach to growl.
"God damn it guys, now y'all made us all more hungry," William said as he nearly tripped on a log, cursing to himself as he regained his footing.
"Sorry Captain, I'm just so hungry I could eat a Sea King." Duros slurred.
"Make that ten Sea Kings for me," Ragnar ordered, Pearl rolled her eyes.
"We're not eating Sea Kings Ragnar." Pearl walked forth as sweat dripped down her chin.
"Damn it," Ragnar growled, then something suddenly lunged at William who was leading the group, William pulled out his steam-powered pistol and held it up to the thing that lunged at him, the thing stopped in place. It was a horse with wings and a fiery mane and it wore a suit with azure blue with golden yellow lightning patterns and sport a uniform icon on its rear. Three others jump out of the bushes, they all had wings. Verona raised Little Timmy and pointed it at the horse in front of William, Duros held Benevolence, Ragnar held his ax, Pearl dropped Louis and got into a Karate stance after all she is the M.A.D.G
"Stand down, maybe they can help us." The fiery maned pony glanced at her allies, they quickly dropped their guard. The Devil's Luck pirates stood there in silence.
"Did... Did they just talk?" Verona turned to William, William glanced at Verona.
"Does it look like I know? We're on a new island some bug horses tried to kill us-" William was cut off by one of the ponies in blue.
"You mean Changelings?" One of them asked, Pearl nodded and the leader put a hoof under her chin which was impossible. Literally.
"I'll cut you a deal, if you can help us defeat the Changelings we will give you a monument of gold." The fiery maned pony spoke.
