Glitter wasn’t having a good day to say the least. She had come out to her parents and they had kicked her out. You see she was born a colt but she was never comforted with herself, she started with her friends, and their families. She was so happy, that she had finally was being open with herself. She wanted to come out to her parents for a long time but was afraid that they wouldn't accept her. After months of building up the courage to tell her parents. Once she did she was expecting hesitation but acceptance but what she got was not what she thought.

“I am not having a quier as a foal.” said her mother.

“Give up this sick and gross habit of yours, dress up is for filly not for colts your age!” her father said.

“But this isn't a game, I'm a filly I know it not on the outside but it's on the inside” Glittershell told her parents hoping she can convince them.

“No, we’re raising a son not a daughter especially not a confused poor excuse of a one.” her father said.

“No were not going to have a faggot in our home, stop playing around and go to your room.” her mother said to her.

“But mom this is me please.” Glitter said in vain.

her mother slapped her and said “leave, you freak and never come back.”

Glitter with tears in her eyes ran out the door and didn’t look back. Now she was in an alley with nothing on her; she looked like a colt again. All the filly could do is cry. Then she heard a voice that said “ Kid what happened?”

15mins earlier

Gears was having a rough day after his friend sacrificed themselves so you can live was even to much of even the sergeant to handle. He was walking down alley to see if there were any assholes around so he could teach them a lesson. As he was walking from alley to alley with no luck then he heard sobbing. He went to see who was crying and saw a young colt with a mint green mane and tail, with a mustard orange coat. He felt something he hasn’t felt in a long time he felt concerned for this colt. “Don’t ask just keep walking.” He thought, but the kid’s cries were too much to handle.
“Oh fuck it” he said under his breath.

“Kid what happened?” Gears said to the foal in a fatherly voice.

“I don’t want to talk about it!” the colt said.

“Ok we don’t have to talk about it but we do need to get out of here it's going to rain soon.” Gears told the foal.

“I don't have anywhere to go.” Glitter said to the stallion.

“It's ok you can stay with me until the storm blows over.” Gears offered the colt.

Glitter was shocked. Did this stallion offer a place to stay? She couldn’t refuse but she was not trusting this stallion yet.

“What's your name sir?” She asked the stallion.

“My name is Gears what about you, colt?” Gears answered and asked.

“Oh my he thinks I'm a colt, will I guess I am physically.” Glitter thought.

“Kid, you ok?” Gears said in concern.

“Ah yes I’m fine my name is snails.” Glitter answered him finally.

“Ok so is that a yes to not dying in the cold then?” gears asked.

“Not like I have much of a choice.” Glitter said .

“We all have a choice, your just not stupid to see it.” Gears said jokingly.

“Ok, so are we going?” Glitter said.

“Ya lets go, Snails” Gears said not knowing that she preferred Glitter.

As the 2 were walking down the roadway. Gears decided to strike up a conversation. “So how did a cute kid like you get abandoned?” Gears asked.

“My parents disowned me because I’m different.” Glitter/Snails said.

“WHAT THE FUCK! Those assholes are not your parents, a parent is supposed to be strict but supported.” Gears yelled earning a whimper from glitter.

“Sorry kid, it just gets on my nerves when I go and fight and then I see shit like this.” Gears said apologetically.

“Wait, you said you go and fight. what do you mean?” Glitter asked.

“I’m a part of JSOG, a special group of soldiers who do things in secret.” Gears answers.

“Ok but why are you here. Aren't soldiers supposed to be in whatever soldiers are supposed to be in.” Glitter/Snails said.

“You're right, JCOG isn't military, it's EIA.” Gears said.

“But you're a soldier?” Glitter said, interested.

“Yup, I still am and we don’t talk about are missions.” Gears said.

As the 2 ponies got to Gears home. He got his keys and opened the door. The duo walked in and what Glitter saw was surprising her. Unlike most homes this one had a bit of a dragon flayer to it. The table was carved from obsidian. The room was glowing with a fire suppressor spell. He didn’t have any wood in his home. it was made up of brick and obsidian but it wasn't like most homes made from obsidian. This one had color. The main room was made up of purple colored obsidian. But there was one question on Glitter’s mind.

“Why is your house made up of obsidian if you're a pony?” Glitter/snails asked.

“It’s complicated kid.” Gears said in a sad tone.

“How so?” Glitter/Snails asked.

“How about you tell me a secret and I’ll tell you mine.” Gears stated

“No thanks, sorry for asking.” she told him

“It's ok but I do want to help you kid.” Gears said in his fatherly tone.

“Why do you want to help me? You barely know me.” Glitter said

“Because you remind me of myself.” Gears said.

“How?” Glitter asked.

“You have that look in your eye. You look lost, torn, one side says your this but you feel like the other. I get it” Gears said.

“How do you get it?” Glitter once again asked.

“Like I said early, tell me yours and I will tell you mine.” He said

“I’ll tell you when I’m ready if that's ok?” She said timidly.

“Ok I can wait.” Gears said.

6 months later

Glitter and Gears were happy with each other. Glitter was especially excited, Gears was there when she needed it. He showed up for her buckball games, when she got sick he was there for her. She had gotten a father she never had. The only bad thing is he has a bit of a temper. She however got use to it. He was never violent to anyone he only had a
Fight defending her. Gears quickly noted that snails was a lot on the feminine side but he didn’t mind. He was glad to not be alone anymore; he was like a ray of hope to him. He told him his secret about him being half dragon and he didn’t mind at all. He told him stories about some missions and about his friends.

In carousel Boutique

“I think I should tell him.” Glitter said to a mare that was Tailoring a dress that was on her.

“Tell who? You kind of started in the middle of a conversation again darling.” the mare said

“Oh, sorry miss Rarity I just was thinking I should tell gears about me being, you know.” Glitter said.

“Hmm that might go a lot better with him than any other pony.” Rarity said.

“You really think so?” Glitter asked.

“Yes I do believe so he was always the first one to defend you, and he did get your awful parents arrested. So yes I say it will go well.” Rarity said

“Hopefully it’s that he has been like a father to me and I really want him to accept me for who I am.” She said to Rarity.

“He will, because if he feels if you're his child he will.” Rarity said.

“But my parents thought that too.” Glitter said.

“Your parents didn’t even know you.” Rarity said in a deadpan.

“I guess you're right, thanks miss Rarity” Glitter said.

“Don’t mention it darling.” Rarity said.

Before the 2 of them parted ways glitter hugged rarity before saying “thank you for everything.”

She walked home thinking to herself. “I will tell him after dinner.”

Ponyville, City Hall
1 hour earlier

He had been waiting all day to get this finalized but it was worth it. He was thinking of adopting snails for a while now. He didn't want to wait till his birthday. He wants to call snails his kid now.

“Next” the office clerk shouted. Gears walked up and told her what he was doing.

“Aww that's so sweet you want to take in this kid” She said.

“Yeah at first I was just looking after this kid but after a while I became less of a caretaker and more of a father.” Gears said.

“Well hopeful you're ready for it.” she said.

“Same here girl.” Gears said.

“Well here you go sir you are now the father of your very own foal.” she said, clapping her hooves together.

“Thanks.” Gears thanked her.

As he was walking home he thought “ I will tell him after dinner.”

At Gears home.
That night

After they got home Gears was making dinner in the kitchen when Glitter walked in the room. “Hey kid I got a surprise for you” Gears said

Oh really what is it? Glitter said in excitement forget what she was going to say.

“I’ll show you after dinner.” he said with uncharastically joyful tone.

“Oh I have something to tell you too actually.” Glittershell said in a nervous tone.

“Nervous he’s never been nervous to talk with me before.” Gears thought.

“Well come out with it kid.” Gears said.

“After dinner if that's ok?” Glitter said.

“Fine” Gears said

After dinner, Gears and Snails/Glitter went into the living room. And sat down for a chat.

“So what did you want to tell me?” Gears asked.

“It about the reason why my parents kicked me out” Glitter said

“Hmm continue” Gears said a bit angry at the mention of Snail’s parents

“Please understand I’m not a colt I’m a f-filly on the inside.” glitter said a bit too loudly

Gears looked at her in shock. She expected to be thrown out and to be called a freak but that never came. She finally built up the strength to look at him. He didn’t look happy.

“Do you have any idea on how angry I am right now.” Gears said in an angry tone.

“Please don’t kick me out please” she begged him, getting a laugh from him in return.

“Why would I kick you out, you my kid.” Gears said with a smile.

What but then why are you mad? Glitter asked in confusion.

“I’m mad because all the signs were they and I just ignored them.” Gears said.

“Signs?” Gitter asked

“ your mane, the perfume in your room, your voice is higher than most colts your age, oh yeah staring at makeup everytime we go to the mall.” Gears said

“Ok so it's okay that I’m you know” glitter asked

“It's more than okey plus I prefer having a daughter than a son.” Gears said

“Really.” she said

“Yup, you think I want another me out there.” Gears said jokingly.

“So what's your real name?” Gears asked.

“Glittershell.” she said.

“Well, Glitter, call me dad if you want.” Gears said to his new daughter.

“What?” Glitter said as she saw him pulled out a paper that said

“Gears your are now the legal Guardian of snails.”

She squealed in joy as she hugged her new father. They just sat there. Glitter, crying with joy and even without seeing it, she can tell he was tearing up as well.
