Spike woke up and headed to the bathroom to take a shower and brush his teeth before heading out to the map table, and making it to breakfast and saw a plate of pancakes and was excited. He saw Starlight and decided to greet her.
“Oh hey Starlight, good morning.” Spike cheerfully said.
Starlight rolled her eyes at the dragon before replying “Good morning Spike.” in a less enthusiastic tone.
Spike noticed how unhappy Starlight was, and was a bit concerned.
“Starlight, is everything okay? You seem upset.¨”Spike asked in a soft tone.
“I’m fine, don´t worry about it, Spike.” Starlight said exasperated.
So now he acknowledges my feelings, he hasn´t even acknowledged my existence until Sludge left. Starlight angrily thought.
“But you seem upset, and I just wanna see if you´re okay and if I can-“ Spike said frantically before he was cut off by Starlight slamming her hooves on the table.
“Spike I said I´m fine, just drop it already!” Starlight yelled angrily while glaring at the small dragon.
Spike widened his eyes in shock, Starlight never got this mad at him before. Annoyed, well maybe, but defintely not mad, when Starlight saw the look in his face her glare softened she felt guilty for how she acted.
“I´m sorry Spike, I was just tired and I took it out on you, but that´s not an excuse for how I acted, I appreciate your concern but I´m fine.” Starlight apologized.
“Oh okay, by the way where´s Twilight?” Spike asked in an awkward tone.
“She finished early because she had to go back to the school to do some paperwork for the school. Why do you ask?” Starlight said in hesitation.
“I was just curious, that´s all.” Spike nervously answered.
“Oh, well I just finished my breakfast, so I´m gonna go study some magic in my room.” Starlight said awkwardly.
Starlight put her empty plate in the sink, and then left the room, Spike sighed in misery Starlight seems to be annoyed with him, and it seems like she didn´t wanna talk to him, come to think about it she´s hardly talked to him at all ever since Sludge left two days ago, she distanced herself from him and sometimes refused to make eye contact with him, once he put the pieces together, he realized he probably did something to upset her.
Oh no, did I do something to hurt her feelings I didn´t mean to do that, she´s one of my friends and I hate to see her suffer. Maybe Twilight will know what to do. I´ll wait till she gets back and then ask her what I should do, ugh but that will probably take a while, gah why is this so difficult? Spike thought to himself.
Twilight just got back from the school, and was worn out, she loves her school but it’s a bit of a hassle, she opened the castle doors and saw Spike pacing.
“Uh, hey Spike, something wrong?” Twilight asked in concern.
“Oh, hi Twilight, I’m glad to see you, I do have something I’m concerned about.” Spike nervously said.
“Don’t worry Spike I can help also, I won’t get mad at you if that’s why you’re worried.” Twilight reassures.
“Okay, here it goes. Do you think Starlight is upset with me? It feels like she wants to avoid me at all costs.” Spike asked.
Twilight’s eyes widened at this, she knew the answer to that, Starlight told Twilight what happened to her when Sludge was around and Starlight wasn’t very happy with him or Spike for that matter, it’s best Twilight tells Spike what happened, Starlight does need to confront Spike about this eventually.
“I hate to say it but yes she is.” Twilight answered with remorse.
“What? Did I do something wrong?” Spike questioned with worry.
“It’s actually more about what you didn’t do. You saw Sludge throw the bath tub while she was in it, but you did nothing, she seemed kinda embarrassed about the whole ordeal.” Twilight answered.
“Oh that, I forgot she was in that, besides she has magic, so I figured she was gonna be fine so I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal when she came back, she’d still be alive plus she didn’t confront me about it so I thought she wasn’t upset.” Spike replied.
“Spike, she didn’t confront you because yes she wasn’t mad at you since she was more mad at Sludge, and she didn’t wanna make a big deal out of it, she’s still hurt about it since you let it happen, but she just won’t show it. Besides I’m sure if that happened to you, you’d probably be upset too.” Twilight stated.
Spike realized what Twilight was saying and now he felt bad.
“Ugh, I’m such an idiot, not only did I act like a jerk to you, I let Sludge take advantage of my friends. What’s wrong with me?” Spike cried.
“Spike, nothing is wrong with you, you just made a mistake, I’m sure Starlight will forgive you if you apologize to her.” Twilight comforted.
“You’re right Twilight, thank you.” Spike said gratefully.
“No problem, Spike.” Twilight replied.
Meanwhile Starlight was in her room, laying down on her bed sighing, she may have been a bit too harsh on Spike, but she was seriously upset with him, to anypony else it was probably petty, but to her it hurt her a lot. She remembered how Sludge threw her off the window while she was in a bath tub, Spike was there too, but he just stood there staring blankly, he saw Sludge throw the tub, there was no denying it, but he did nothing to try and stop Sludge. Now she wasn’t too upset with him, but she can’t help but feel a little hurt by his actions. While she was thinking she heard knocking.
Please be Twilight, please be Twilight. Starlight thought.
Starlight opened the door to see a nervous Spike.
“Oh hey Spike.” Starlight said with hesitation.
“Starlight you don’t need to pretend to be happy, I know why you’re mad at me.” Spike explained.
“Me mad at you, why would I be mad?” Starlight asked with fear.
“Because I saw you get thrown out of the castle window and did nothing to stop it.” Spike answered.
“I suppose you’re going to make some excuses for what happened, whatever I’m all ears.” Starlight bitterly assumed.
“No, I came to say I’m sorry, I should’ve helped you or stopped Sludge but I acted like an idiot. I had no idea that hurt you so much.” Spike apologized.
Starlight’s gaze softened and she was a bit remorseful for how she was acting.
“You can come in, I’d rather sit down when we’re talking.” Starlight invited.
Spike came in the room and he and Starlight both sat on the bed.
“Well Spike I have to say yes you did hurt me a bit, you saw what was happening yet stood there as if you didn’t care about me getting hurt.” Starlight explained.
“Well I do care Starlight, I think of you as one of my best friends and I didn’t mean to make you feel that way.” Spike said.
“Spike I also should apologize, I’ve been avoiding you a lot, and I never once tried to talk to you about how I felt so I’m sorry for that.” Starlight apologized.
“It’s okay Starlight, I get why you got mad at me. So no hard feelings?” Spike said in a soft voice while smiling.
“No hard feelings.” Starlight answered with a smile.
Starlight and Spike then embraced each other.
Outside the room it was revealed Twilight was listening in to the conversation.
“Awwwww.” Twilight cooed.
“Well great job Twilight, you did it again, Yes.” Twilight congratulated herself.

Before you get the wrong idea, no I am not mad at Spike for the whole bathtub thing, I know that was mostly just a joke and I don´t hold it against him regardless since he was being manipulated, but I figured this was a fun idea to try so I decided to write this one-shot. I actually adore the idea of Spike or Starlight apologizing to the other because those stories hardly exist and I love Forgiveness stories so a story idea was born, also I know Starlight is probably making a big deal out of this whole thing, but to be fair she was thrown out of a castle window while in a bath tub while one of her friend saw it happen but did nothing, I don´t think I´d be happy either, plus I did have Starlight forgive Spike in the end so that’s good right.
