Finally got to edit this chapter. There is a lot of changes that have occurred in this chapter with more insight with the background of the Thestrals and the ritual for their wedding.

The Rituals

"Dad!?" said Twilight with a shocked expression on her face. Her father gave the same look of shock towards his daughter.

"Twilight! Your the one who's going to perform the ceremony?" he said as he slowly looked towards the thestral mare that was sitting across from him. "When were you going to tell me Virg?"

"When she would come here, Little Bro," the thestral mare named, 'Virg,' said with a sly expression on her face.

"LITTLE BRO!" yelled Twilight in the royal canterlot voice when she heard the mare say that. The yell was very powerful that it broke a couple of glasses that were in the room, including Luna's tea cup which spilled the tea onto the carpet. Luna was not phased by the yell but, Ashen, Lunar, Night Light, and 'Virg' had to cover their ears from how loud it was.

"Please Twilight, keep your voice down, your going to destroy everyone's ear drums around here, including your family," said the night alicorn very peaceful. Twilight could not believe how calm she was, even when it was revealed that she was related to Ashen and Lunar.

"What do you mean calm down! I just found out that my Dad is the uncle to the thestrals that I am going to officiant! And that Ashen and Lunar are brother and sister which goes against everything that I grew up with! And you want me to calm down!" explained Twilight with a not so loud voice but still loud enough to express her shock on the many revelations that were happing to her. Luna only nodded and gave a look to Night Light.

Night Light looked back at Luna and nodded in approval at what he needed to do. "Twilight, sorry for not telling you sooner but if I had known that you were going to be here, then I would have come to your home sooner to explain you bloodline. You see... you are one-half thestral."

Twilight looked at him then at Lunar and Ashen with an angry expression on her face. She knew her father would explain everything to her right at this moment but she wanted to hear why Lunar and Ashen kept that little secret from her. "Did we forget to mention that there is a one in a ten thousand chance that thestrals can give birth to a non-thestral pony," Ashen said with a sly look.

Her brother, having the same exact expression also clarified with saying "Yeah, we forgot to mention that we had a unicorn in the family didn't we sister." Both gave a light chuckle confirming something that Twilight was thinking about for the past hour.

"You knew that I was related to you guys from the beginning," said Twilight with a expression of realization at what the couple had been saying and implying when she was asking some of her questions. The brother and sister both nodded in approval at her revelation.

"We both wanted to see your face when you found out about your bloodline cousin" said Ashen as she got closer to her cousin. "We wanted to be the first ones to have you make my brother and me, husband and wife. It is tradition to have a family member to officiant the wedding. And what better way to make our wedding memorable than to have our cousin do it who was just ascended to a alicorn."

Twilight could not stop looking at Ashen and Lunar back to back and then her eyes laid upon her father for some context on the meaning of tradition of family to officiant the wedding. Night saw his daughter's distress and confused look and gave another explanation. "It's true, for thousands of years, the one to officiant the wedding is a member of the family. They could be the father, mother, sister, brother, or even cousins."

"Throughout my whole life, I have witnessed many of these weddings Twilight. My mother did a majority of the weddings with a few having my sisters be involved and a two times with my Father, and once with Princess Luna," Night Light kept a strong firm expression as he was reveling things to his daughter that only Thesrals should know about. "Twilight, what I am telling you right now would be blasphemy towards my family and the rest of the Thesral clans if you were an outsider as only Thesrals are suppose to know about these traditions."

Twilight's eyes turned into pinpricks at the revelation that her Father just said. Her Father's expression told her enough that what he was explain was going to be very serious. She nodded to let Night Light know to continue. "Ever since an pony that was not born of Thesral blood found out about these traditions, that pony lead a large group of ponies and others species towards the old homeland and wiped out all the Clans except for six."

Twilight gasped in shocked, she knew that ponies had bad some bad history with other foreign species before but she never knew that this happen. In all of her research into the subject of the Thestrals, she never came upon this fact in her studies. She looked around the room and saw that Lunar, Ashen, and 'Virg,' were looking down towards their hooves in solidarity to their ancestors who died in that genocide.

"Judging from you expression young Twilight Sparkle, you never knew of this past atrocity," Luna finally spoke after not speaking for so long. She gave a sigh as she continue on what she was going to say, "My Sister and I had to deal with the consequences of that individual for many years. The Thestral's had great haterade towards my Sister as she was the one who help orchestrate the invasion to the homeland. Tia was under the impression that the pony was going to help send supplies to help the poor in the homeland and to also open relationships to Equestria, but she realized her mistake at the last moment."

The purple alicorn opened her mouth in shocked at what Luna had said about her Sister. Celestia, the one pony that she looked up to the most as a teacher, friend, and even a mother, almost lead to the entire extinction of an entire species. "But... she helped them by bringing them here to Equestria. Then why do Thestral's hate Princess Celestia so much?" asked Twilight.

"We hate her for destroying the homeland Twilight!" yelled Ashen suddenly.

Twilight jumped at Ashen's sudden outburst but before she could say anything, the enraged mare stated to continue, "The Sun Princess in her Greatness, did not try to give us any 'aid.' She just placed us in random locations and thought we could integrate into pony society and everything would be sunshine and rainbows." Ashen while she was talking, slowly walked towards Twilight with angry.

The angry mare got into Twilight's face and continued her rant, "We were discriminated against and were refused shelter because of the way we looked. Thank Princess Luna because she saw how miserable the Thestrals were living at the time and she helped gather the remaining clans and put them into Hollow Shades where we have lived in peace for years. We respect Princess Luna with our lives and our traditions are sacred to make her an honorary Thestral."

Twilight started deep into Ashen's amethyst that was filled with anger. She had many thoughts at the stuff that she was being told by Ashen. The purple alicorn was backed into a corner and was starting to get scared of Ashen at the moment.

"Ashen, do not try to scare your cousin!" explained the older thestral mare in the room who was looking at her daughter closely.

Ashen backed away from Twilight who in return looked towards the mare who saved her from an very angry face to face with her 'cousin.' "Thank you uh..."

"Virgin. Virgin Bloodroot," Virgin said with a warm smile. "But you can call me Auntie Blood," Virgin got up from here seat and walked towards Twilight. As soon as she got close enough, her Aunt put her front hooves on the alicorn's face and gave a warm smile. "It has been far too long Little Twily. The last time I saw you, you were just a little baby just born from your Mother. You have really grown."

Twilight gave a small chuckle to try and make the situation better as soon as Virgin let go of her face. Luna took this opportunity to final say something to everyone in the room. "Well, with your heritage finally releveled to you, I think now is the time to explain your role in the wedding ceremony of Thestrals."

The younger alicorn looked at Luna with shock. She needed time to process all of the information that was happing to her at this moment but at the same time, she needed to know what a wedding ceremony of Thestrals were. Everyone else in the room nodded in agreement as the importance of what Twilight needed to know about what she was going to do. They knew that they could tell their relative the importance of her heritage later as the wedding preparation was more important. All of them looked at their Night Princess to say what she was here for.

"Twilight Sparkle, before you understand more about your family's legacy, you need to understand what you are going to do as the officiant of the wedding," Twilight nodded in approval knowing that her Father, Luna, and Thestral family would help explain more about her family in detail. "Excellent, Ashen and Lunar, I know that you wanted to surprise your cousin about her being related to your but you must explain what she needs to do even when she has not experience anything sexual yet."

"Sexual?" said Twilight with a concern look on her face.

Twilight could not believe on what she was hearing. Everything that she had just learned now was giving her a important role to do for her family. She was chosen to help bring life to this world and looked at both Ashen and Lunar now knowing why they chose her. "Will you help us Twilight?" asked Ashen with a hope in her eyes.

Twilight looked to the both of them and told herself to forget about what she thought about incest and without hesitation said to the both of them "Yes."
