Equinox has lived in Progress all his life. Progress is a military state, very unlike Equestria. Racism, Unicornsupremesism, and homophobia are all very common, but not thought of as bad things as they are just part of life. When he comes to Equestria on his own agenda, things probably wont go exactly as planned.
