Chapter 7: The Escape

"I'm at the castle right now." Leon said through his earpiece.

"Good, see if Neytiri is there." Connor replied back.

Leon waited until the guards weren't looking at the entrance. He creeped by them.

"I'm in the castle now."

"Check the holding rooms."

Leon noticed a guard patrolling the area. Seeing no way past, he snuck up behind her. He grabbed her from behind and swiftly knocked her out. He hid her body in the janitor's closet. As he walked into the holding cell, he saw the shadow of another guard, Leon was forced to take out this guard as well.

"Oh I'm getting tired of all this...."

A swift punch was heard. Leon saw the door leading to the room that must have held Neytiri hostage. He had his gun ready. Noticing a shadow through the floor, he shot through the door eliminating the unicorn guard behind the door. He burst into the room noticing three creatures, one dead, Neytiri, and one shocked creature. The creature who seemed to be the interrogator was stunned to see the Storm Creature as well.

"Wait, wait!" The interrogator said.

"Suck it." Leon said.

The interrogator was shot in the face. Leon went over to the shocked creature. He didn't seem like any creature Leon has ever saw. It seemed like a hairless gorilla with clothes.

"Hey, I'm not gonna hurt you. Let's get you out of here."

Newton and Neytiri returned to the underground sanctuary. They were immediately ambushed by Leon.

"Oh, it's you." Leon breathed. "Wait a sec..."

Leon slapped both ponies.

"Ok, you're clear."

"Were you thinking that we're changelings?" Neytiri asked.

"I had to be safe."

The three met up with Peter, who had tied up Tempest to the same chair he used to interrogate Gallus.

"Alright, how do we want to approach her?" Peter asked.

Tempest awoke to find herself in Peter's face.

"It's you." Tempest said. "The one who defends the Storm King even though he was in the wrong."

"What happened here?" Newton asked at the same time.

"We were attacked." Leon said. "Tempest and her forces launched an attack that killed some of our group."

"Correction. All of the group." Tempest said. "You are the last of your kind!"

Leon was enraged. His hands were shaking, he grit his teeth, and he lunged for Tempest.

"Why you little...."

As Leon choked Tempest hard, Peter thought back on Tempest's words.

"Last of your kind..." Peter muttered.

"Leon?" Newton asked.

Leon let go of Tempest, the latter of which was catching her breath.

"I want to punch the rest of her horn off." Leon grunted.

"Leon, you said about the infected and how they're Storm Creatures right?" Peter asked. "And didn't you also say that it wears off?"

"I lied." Leon sighed.

"What?!"

"There is no way to resist the orange spores. Once you're infected by them, there is no cure."

Leon walked away as Peter turned to Newton and Neytiri.

"You were hiding this the whole time?"

Both ponies silently nodded.

"And now you know." Tempest said. "Now you know that the truth hurts. The Storm King has spread many lies about us. Join us, and I will treat you as my own."

Peter paused for a moment. Leon did indeed lied to him, but it must've been for a good cause. On the other hand, Tempest does know what she's talking about.

"No...." Peter said.

"Excuse me?" Tempest asked.

"Leon may have lied, but he wouldn't backstab me. I know what he's doing is right."

"And decapitating the captain of the royal guard is right?"

"No, but we didn't want to let him go." Newton said. "Or else he would lead his forces to here and kill everyone."

"And now Leon is the last of his kind." Tempest teased. "Soon, the Storm Kingdom will be extinct!"

As Tempest embraced the idea. Peter subdued her cold.

"How do we deal with her?" Peter asked.

"I say we leave her so that the wildlife may deal with her." Newton stated.

Both Newton and Neytiri carried her unconscious body. Peter turned to find Leon, curled up against a wall. Peter went up to sit with him.

"You okay?"

"No... I lied to you. And now look what came out of this. I'm the last of my kind, Chloe got killed, and I lost my home."

Peter placed his hand on Leon's shoulder.

"We're going home."

Leon slowly nodded. As the human boy helped the Storm Creature up, the two then headed towards Newton and Neytiri's direction.

"So, are we ready?" Newton said.

"Wait, before we go..." Leon began.

Leon gathered the belongings of all the Storm Creatures who died among the assault in Sanctuary. Including Angel and Connor. As he lit the match which set everything on fire, he used one of the guns to fire a shot in the air.

"Okay, let's go home." Neytiri said.

Peter came in carrying Chloe's body.

"Is that supposed to be the girl you went and rescued?" Newton asked.

"Yeah, she didn't make it."

"I'm so sorry..." Neytiri said.

"I'll move on." Peter said.

"Okay Newton, fire the spell."

Newton opened the spellbook. For the next few minutes he browsed through the pages.

"Ooh, there's a spell in which you can freeze your enemies."

"Focus Newton." Peter said.

Newton continued to skim through the pages until eventually finding the right one.

"Okay, there we go." Newton said.

Newton laid the book down for all to see. He then took deep breaths to ready his magic. A spark came from his horn as he tried to cast the portal spell. It fizzled out. Leon and Peter looked at each other in confusion.

"Try again." Leon suggested.

Newton tried the spell again. It did not work.

"Third time's the charm?" Peter asked.

Newton tried the spell for a third time. Nothing happened. For six minutes that Newton tried, nothing happened.

"Did we get the wrong spellbook?" Leon asked. "Or does the spell literally not exist?"

"I'm not giving up." Newton said.

Newton casted the spell again. This time, a small blue ball appeared in front of the group. It fizzled out.

"I think we're heading in the right direction." Peter said.

Newton casted the spell again. A quick flash of bright light blinded everyone for a split second. At the location to where Newton casted the spell was a big blue sphere of light hovering in the air. Peter went up to it to gently touch it. As he stuck his head in, he saw through the other side. The portal led to Classroom 201 of Public School 38, the room where he and Chloe were kidnapped.

"It leads to home." Peter said, moving back in.

"Come on, let's go!" Leon stated.

Leon picked up the spellbook just in case the group needed it. First came in Neytiri, then Peter carrying Chloe's body, then Leon. Newton checked behind him to see if anyone was watching the whole scene. No one was there. He went in shortly after.

"Oh my god..." Peter breathed. "It's so good to be back."

"So this is what your world looks like." Leon said.

"I heard stories from Twilight that it's similar to a world she entered through a mirror." Newton said. "I mean there's a school."

"Let's go outside to see your predictions are right." Neytiri said.

As the four left the classroom, they saw dead bodies of students laying on the floor.

"What the?" Peter gasped.

The four then headed towards the gym. What was supposed to be a Bronycon was a party that was struck by a tornado. Decorations were everywhere, food was spilled over, dead bodies were strewn across the bleachers and floor.

"What happened?"

The group heard pounding on the janitor's closet. Leon readied his gun as they slowly approached to the door. As Peter laid his hand on the doorknob, he held his breath as he swung it open. It was the janitor.

"Oh my god, you found me!" The janitor said with relief.

The janitor then noticed Newton and Neytiri.

"No! Don't kill me!"

"Relax, we're not going to kill you." Neytiri said in a calm voice.

"Stay back! Stay back!" The janitor said, holding his broomstick.

Neytiri slowly walked up to him and gave a gentle pat on the janitor.

"Oh...." The janitor moaned.

Peter was speechless.

"Did you suddenly have Fluttershy's powers?" Leon asked.

"No, I'm just good at calming people down." Neytiri replied.

"I have one strange sister." Newton said.

"Can you tell me what happened?" Peter asked after Neytiri calmed the janitor down.

"They came..."

"Who came?" Leon asked.

"The horses...."

Something clicked in Peter's mind.

"The six..." He muttered.

He ran to the exit of the gym, as he opened the doors, he saw a new post-apocalyptic world in front of him. He then got a special alert on his phone.

ATTENTION!

This is a reminder for citizens. Due to recent events, we advise you to remain indoors and stay calm. Panicking will not help in this situation. Our police and military force will deal with it shortly.

As the janitor along with Newton, Leon, and Neytiri arrived to Peter's location, the latter turned to them.

"We're too late."
