Long ago in the land of Equestria, a king fell in love with the night. This forbidden love eventually dragged both the King and the one he loved into darkness, so the Goddess of the Sun cast the King into the Underworld, and her sister, the Goddess of the Moon he loved, into the moon itself. Then, with the aid of six Maidens pure of heart, created a barrier to keep the corrupted King and his legion of monsters trapped in the Underworld. A barrier that used the Maidens' very lives as the pillars to support it.

Unfortunately, this seal is imperfect, and one unfortunate night, a witch sold her soul to the darkness, and brought forth enough of the Nightmare of the Underworld, where they captured one of the Maidens, and thus weakened the seal.

Now the rest of the Maidens are in danger. Unfortunately, they're unable to bear arms to protect themselves, so new heroes must be forged. Five unlikely heroes, each wielding the power of the constellations, are given the Goddess' blessing, and are granted the powers of an ancient and powerful magical field. With these new powers: Macintosh "Big Mac" Scarlet, Shining Armor, Octavia Melody, Spike Dragneel, and Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, must bear arms in the name of the Maidens of Harmony, and act as their swords and shields as the fight against the Nightmares rages on. They are, the Celestial Guard Power Rangers!
