Spike was sitting on a flight on his way back to Equestria. He has been serving the Royal guards, and he had been sent to Saddle Arabia by his commander. He has been there for at least five years. He hadn't fully enjoyed those five years, as it meant that he was away from those he loves. He also was away from his marefriend; Pinkie Pie.
When he told her that he was gonna be gone for five years, she had hugged him tightly and cried on to his shoulder. Sadly, there was nothing he could do. He didn't like seeing his marefriend upset, and he vowed to not make her that upset again. Luckily, he was only gonna serve one more year in the guards, then he'd get his pension.
He was planning on proposing to Pinkie, and he prayed to Faust that she would say yes. No pony knew that he was coming, not even his relatives except Blueblood. It would be a nice surprise for them. They were celebrating Hearts Warming in the Friendship Castle. He was just gonna waltz inside the castle as if he owned the place.
He was a 6'0 tall dragon with purple scales and green spike's. He was currently sitting in first class, and was having a bottle of wine. He was currently in his military uniform as he just got of duty. Although, he didn't mind. He felt proud about being in his uniform, as it showed which country he was serving. He had served for over twenty years, and he was gonna serve his final year and he'd be a pensioner. All of a sudden, the pilot started speaking; "We will be landing in Canterlot International Airport in ten minutes."
Spike smiled. He was almost home! He could practically feel Pinkie's hug on him right now. Spike prepared for the landing, and pushed down his excitement. He looked out the window, and saw how the plane landed and how fast the plane had been going. Spike felt happy. After a six hour long flight, he was back home in Equestria again. The pilots slowly drove the plane to one of the terminals, and stopped. Spike rose from his seat and took out his backpack from the space areas that was over his head. He then waited for one of the workers to open up the doors.
They didn't have to wait long, as one of the workers opened up the door for Spike and he gave the mare a quick curt nod. He walked through the terminals, and finally got to the point where Spike could collect his two large bags that contained his clothes and essentials. There were quite a few creatures in the terminal, but Spike didn't mind. If anything, he was happy. He didn't wait long for spotting his bags, and grabbing them.
Spike then proceeded to walk away from the terminal, and walked outside of the airport. The only soul he had told that he was gonna come was his cousin Blueblood. Blueblood had been very happy to hear that his cousin was gonna come back after five years of fighting in Saddle Arabia. They were quite close to each other, and Blueblood had been the one who looked after Pinkie while he was gone. Blueblood had also deiced to pick Spike up from the airport and drive him to the Friendship Castle. Spike spotted the limousin, and knocked on the window. It rolled down and revealed a grinning Blueblood. Spike got inside the limousine and they drove of.
"Spike! It's so good to see you cousin. Man, I really missed you bro." Blueblood said, making Spike grin at him. It sounded so genuine, and it would probably have made other ponies confused if they didn't know Blueblood personally like Spike did.
"It's good to see you to Blueblood. What has been going on here for the last five years then?" Spike asked, making Blueblood chuckle a little. Spike sounded like he had been frozen in time. It was funny really.
"Nothing much. The same old, same old." Blueblood said, making Spike nod in understanding. The limousine reached Ponyville, and Spike could feel how his heart was raising. He hadn't seen his marefriend in five years, and he was quite nervous. He quickly looked over at Blueblood and he realized;
"Hey Blue, do you have the ring that I asked about?" Spike asked, making Blueblood think. He then widened his eyes and nodded towards him. He had been asked by Spike to get the family ring for marriages. When Spike told him his plan, Blueblood had felt proud of his cousin. He was gonna be a true man. Well, he was a man since he is a secret prince and a soldier, but now he'll be an official man after he proposes.
"Yeah, here it is." Blueblood said, handing over a ring box. Spike opened it and saw the two rings. The rings depicted on Celestia and Luna with the sun and moon which looked like to be chasing each other. Spike smiled at Blueblood who smiled and nodded. The limousine then came to a stop as they were outside the Friendship Castle. Blueblood got out first and walked towards the castle. Spike then decided to get out and surpise his family with his presence. He got out of the limousine, and walked up towards the Friendship Castle. He heard voices inside the throne room.
"Hello prince Blueblood, how was your friend?" Asked, the unmistakable voice that belonged to Cadance. Spike smiled. She had helped him understand his love for Pinkie Pie when he lost interest with Rarity.
"Oh, he was quite well. I think you might know him actually." Blueblood said, making sure that Spike heard so he would be ready to make his entrance. Spike prepared himself.
"Oh really, who?" Shining Armor asked, making Spike chuckle a little lowly. He then walked inside the throne room with a grin on his face.
"So you don't know me at all? Well, if that's the case I'm going back." Spike said, grinning widely at the shocked faces of everypony in the room. Blueblood looked around and cackled like a mad stallion. He had waited for this specific moment and it was worth it.
SPIKE!!!??? They all shouted at the same time. Spike simply nodded at them, ans they rushed to him in a bone crushing hug. Pinkie had tears of joy, as she hadn't seen him in five years.
"Spike I've missed you." Pinkie said, as the others left them be for their moment. Spike kissed her to let her know that he understood.
"I know love, and I only have one more year to serve, and that will be here. There is also one thing I wanted to ask you," Spike said, pulling out the small box. Everyone's eyes widened in shock. Spike then got on one knee and proposed. "Pinkamena Diane Pie, you have made me smile in the most impossible of times. You have made me laugh at your jokes when I have been away, and you have always helped me see the light, even when I was walking down a very dark path. So this is why I ask; do you want to marry me?"
Everypony had tears in their eyes as they heard Spike's speech. He sounded so emotional aswell, but didn't show it as a lot of creatures would expect. Everypony in Ponyville and Equestria nearly became deaf as she shouted; "YES!!"
Spike recoiled from the loud shout, and was then engulfed by Pinkie in a large hug. The others cheered them on, and princess Celestia was happy to finally have somepony officialy in the family. She walked up to Spike with a large smile on her face, as she saw how happy her son was.
"So, will I be getting some heirs?" Celestia asked, making Spike blush but, Pinkie smile. She wouldn't mind that.
"Oh, yes there will be." Pinkie said, making everypony laugh. "Anyways, let's celebrate!!" And that they did. They had a long dinner with everypony from the family, and they later on opened their presents. It was an amazing day, and it was fantastic for Spike and his fiancé. They were gonna be happy together. Spike knew it.

I just wanted to post this since I got an idea. My father is in the military himself, and serves in my homeland. Luckily, he was able to come and visit me and my mother. Anyways, happy Yule/Christmas!
