A new life in a new land
My name is Andrew Misawa ,I am just an average guy, I am a 22 year old guy, came into the work force during the worse economic depression since the stock market crash of 1929. I went to college and earned a degree in criminal justice, I tired to become a police officer, but do to the bad economy, it became a one out of seven hundred chance of getting hired, so instead I work in retail at Mallmart, it wasn’t so bad, it was a job at least. I would work from 12pm-9pm, most of the time I would get the 12-9 shift, I worked in the frozen/dairy areas, going into the main freezer, and getting carts ,working the pallets and stock the doors, I also help the customers with their questions for things.That’s what I did everyday, finally a year went by of doing that, and I earned some vacation time, I saved enough money to go somewhere I have always wanted, a trip to Japan.
I was so happy, I was finally to get to go to Japan, I got my tickets for the flight, I packed my bags, laptop, I had plans to go Kyoto to toei studio park, to where many of Japan’s samurai films had been made, as well as a trip some ww2 museums and see the zero fighters on display, like the one in the Yasukuni museum. So the day came, I got up at five in the morning and got dressed and arrived at the airport after a half hour drive with my stuff, suitcases, checked them in at the baggage check in, and then went through security, it felt weird going through one of those new body scanners, that they have no put in at every major airport. But then I had to wait once I got through, it would be two hours before the flight, there would be one stop over in Hawaii where I would switch planes to the flight that will go to Japan, so I went on my laptop and started playing il-2 1946 on my laptop. Finally I heard the announcement “United flight 2478 from Miami to Honolulu now boarding at gate C-8.” I got my things and went to the gate and boarded the plane and took my seat.
The plane started to taxi with the captain coming on the plane’s PA system.” good morning this your captain speaking we will be departing Miami today, and flying to Tokyo with one stop over in Honolulu, the flight will be about 17 hours , we hope you enjoy your flight and thank you for flying United.” eventually we got the take off clearance and the plane started to speed down the runway, I always loved that feeling, as it reached over 150 mph and lifted off the ground from Miami, little did I know, that would be the last time I ever saw South Florida, as the plane climbed into the clouds and the world shrank, I settled and relaxed, enjoying the view from the clouds, I always loved it, since I was a kid whenever I traveled on a plane, a few hours passed and I was playing the IJN fighter pilot campaign on IL-2, after a good number of hours I saw the pacific ocean as we left the coast of California, and they served us a nice meal. I noticed the sun setting, it was beautiful over the clouds and ocean, as I started to drift into a nice long sleep.
I was suddenly jostled awake, by rapid shaking as the whole plane was shaking, I could here people panicking, , the “please fasten your seatbelt sign” went on and suddenly I felt the plane rapidly descending, people at this point were screaming, my heart started pounding as I felt the decent getting faster and faster, then I saw the ocean, speeding into view, I knew this plane is going down, I felt this was it, I am going to die. They say when your about to die, your life flashes before your eyes, for me, there was nothing, all I could do was stare out that airplane window as the water got closer and closer, just before the impact and my impending death, I closed my eyes, and then nothing, was I dead, I must be, though I’m dead, how can I still perceive my own existence, I’m an atheist, I don’t believe in life after death, but yet, here I am, I must have just died, the plane I was on, slammed into the ocean, I must be dead. Yet I am able to still think and feel, I opened my eyes, and too my surprise, I am laying on grass, I see a beautiful blue sky above me, is this a real heaven, no it couldn’t be, I can feel the grass, I get up and look around at these new surroundings. I start walking around and hear singing? I started to walk around to find the source of the sound, and what I saw surprised me, it looks like a little baby horse, but its head is shaped different and the eyes are huge, its so adorable, it was light yellow, with a pink mane, that looked much the hair style of a beautiful girl, and this creature also has wings, I guess then that would a Pegasus like that of ancient Greek mythology, but how can this be real, where am I?
I approached the little Pegasus who was singing to herself, wait a
Pegasus who can sing?? Well maybe this is some kind of crazy dream. I then
walked up to her and said,”hello.” she yelped and curled into a ball. All I
could do was go “dawwwwwwwwwwww” I didn’t know my voice could go that high
I then said,” I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” She then looked
at with her big teal colored eyes and said.
”oh..it..okay..I frighten easily…”.
Then I said,” you are the most adorable thing I have ever seen” ,
“um..you think I’m cute.” she said. I then said,” yes” and put her down.
I asked her, “so what is your name?” She looked away from me, and said very timidly,” uh..fl..flutter shy…” I looked at her and said,” aww..that’s such a sweet name.”
“Flu..ttershy” came another voice, I looked to see a small purple unicorn
about the same size as flutter shy, she stopped and stared at me, and
asked..
”um flutter shy, what is that creature next to you” Fluttershy then
said,
” oh hi Twilight, this is um..” she looked at me and asked what my
name was, so I said,” Andrew Misawa, I’m a human.” Twilight then looked
confused, and said,” Human, but humans are supposed to be just myths,
but you found one Fluttershy, this is amazing! I am definitely writing a letter to the princess about this.” I was confused, Princess?
Twilight then asked me to come with her to her library where she could try to learn about me, so I followed her into this little town, the buildings looked a lot like English cottages from the 1600-1700s period.
We soon approached a treehouse , it was a large tree with a door on it, I could see a telescope up on the top of it as we walked in.
Twilight then said,” Spi-i…ke”
I watched as a small purple dragon, who must have been about 2 feet tall came down he had green scales and eyes. And then he said,” Hey twilight back already….” then he saw me.
“uh..Twilight..who’s that”
Twilight then says,” This is Andrew, he is a human , he is an amazing discovery, since humans were believed to be just myths.
Great, I’m a scientific discovery, then as twilight was talking with spike my stomach growled very loudly which stopped Twilight in her speech of me, being such an amazing find. She and Spike looked at me in surprise, then I said,” sorry, I guess I am hungry, its been a while since I have eaten anything.”
Twilight then said,’’ its okay, spike can you prepare a lunch for us, I am hungry too,’’ Spike then said,” Okay Twilight it will be about 10 minutes.”
Then Twilight asked me to sit down at a small table she had where there was a large unicorn bust made of wood sitting in the center the table. I sat down, but the chair was a little small so it felt strange sitting on it. Twilight then asked me some questions.
“So where do you come from and live.’’
I answered,” I come from a planet we just call earth, and l live in a country called the United States of America, in the state of Florida in a city called Pembroke Pines,’’
“Wow, so you come from a completely different world.”
“Yes” I said,” I must say, this world is must nicer then the world I came from.”
Twilight then asked,” what do you mean?”
I looked at the little unicorn and then said,” my world is ravaged by war , and our species is divided by things like national origin, religion, ethnic differences.” Also our world has 7 billion humans and our planet can barely sustain all of them and women are still having three and four kids per family. Before I came here I was on a plane for a vacation to the nation of Japan, but something went wrong and the plane went down, I was about to die in a plane crash and then I closed my eyes and somehow ended up here.
Twilight had a shocked look on her face, so I asked her, “what wrong Twilight ?”
She snapped out of it and said,” that does sound like terrible place, also, whats a plane ?”
“it’s a machine, that can fly through the air using jet engines that suck in air, compress it, ignite it and blow it out the back creating thrust.”
She then seemed amazed,” if your species can do that, then humans must be far more intelligent then we thought, ponies always thought humans were supposed to be like monkey’s just picking fruit and living in trees.”
I seemed surprised, they thought humans were like monkeys. I then said,” we haven’t lived like that for two hundred thousand years, we are a very technological species. We have motorized carriages called cars, cities with buildings that are as high as two hundred stories tall. Computers that allow us to communicate with others across the planet and the internet which holds more information then billions of libraries.”
“that’s impossible, you know how books is one library?” said Twilight.
I chuckled and said,” the information is not in the form of books, its digital data stored inside the computer as binary code. Which is a code made of the numbers zero and one, like say it would read an apple as 00100111101001 or something like that.”
At this moment Spike came out with three plates, one with a daisy and grass sandwich, one with a sandwich with sliced apples in it and letus and the third plate had gem stones on it. Then I saw something I couldn’t believe, the sandwich started to the lift into the air in some kind of magenta purplish aura as twilight took a bite out of it, I couldn’t look away from it or her, then she looked at me, and swallowed with an audible gulp and said,” uh what wrong?”
I said,” n-nothing, but how are you doing that ?” I pointed to the sandwich.
Then she said,’’ I’m just lifting it with my magic, you have never seen magic before ?’’
I said,’’ no, there is no creature in my world that can do that, how does it work ?”
She then explained,’’ magic comes from within, everypony has some form of magic energy within them, but only unicorns can consciously use it, its channeled through the horn and you use it to control what you want, but most unicorns can only use it depending on what their special talent is. But for me, my special talent is magic itself, so I can use nearly every spell I learn.”
“So that’s how you are levitating the sandwich” I then said.
“Exactly’’ responded Twilight. Then she continued eating her sandwich, I picked mine up and started eating. It tasted really good, I also watched Twilight eat, it was cute how she took small bites and swallowed with a little bulge going down her neck, after eating I thanked spike for the food.”
Then there was a knocking at the door, and Twilight asked,” who could that be” She walked over to the door and opened it with her magic, at the door was a light green purple unicorn bouncing up and down smiling.
Twilight seemed surprised,” Lyra what are you doing here ?”
Lyra then said,” I have to see him, I was out talking with BonBon and then I saw him with you, I couldn’t believe it, I saw you walking with a real Human, I tried to tell BonBon but she wouldn’t turn around, saying I was crazy to believe Humans are real, but they are, you found one!” She ran over to me as fast as she could and jumped into the air towards me.

I opened my arms to catch her, and caught her in my arms, she was really excited to see me. She said,
” Oh my Celestia, you are a real human! I KNEW HUMANS WERE REAL !!!!”
she was so cute so I couldn’t resist hugging her and said,” Lyra is that your name?” She nodded smiling “you are so cute.” she turned as red as an apple at that .
Twilight lifted Lyra with that magic of hers and said,” Lyra, I need him for research!”
“But Twilight I want to show Bonbon that humans are real!”
“Twilight.” She turned to me as I said,” I would like to go with her for a while” Twilight groaned and said,” Fine, at least I could write my letter to the princess.”
Lyra then asked me to follow her, so I followed the little light green unicorn through the town, the other ponies had looks of confusion of their faces. Then we approached a small house, she opened the door with her magic and then I walked in, the doorway was a little shorter then a human one, so I had to bend down to get in.
“Bonbon” lyra shouted.
“What is it now Lyra ?” she came out and then stood there is shock when she saw me, she was a small, wingless, hornless pony, with a pink and blue mane and tail and had an image of three pieces of candy for what these ponies call a cutie mark.
”Lyra ..is that a real…”
“Yep” Lyra said
“Hello BonBon” I said, as I walked towards her. I turned to Lyra and winked at her as I approached Bonbon, Bonbon started to back up, I reached down and lifted her up to which she became as stiff as a board and had a funny scared look on her face. I laughed and set her down next to Lyra . Lyra giggled at her expression.
“You should see the look on your face BonBon” Lyra said to her.
Lyra then said,” I am going to take him up to my room, I have so much to ask him!!!”
Lyra then galloped up the stairs and I followed her to her room and we walked in. She ran over and locked the door and then sat on the bed, strange, she was sitting up like a human, I wonder if any of these other ponies do that.
“So, Tell me all about you and your world.” Lyra said.
I told her about my world, but in a more positive light, thinking back to words of Carl Sagan.
“We have found cures and vaccines for many illnesses, we invent and refine agriculture, we discover hidden chapters within our own origins, We have even walked on our moon by figured out how objects move in space, liquefying oxygen from the air, we built the big rockets needed and we set out to the moon and the stars. We have robots on mars, a planet 35 million miles way from ours. We even have a strong idea of how our entire Universe came to be, we call it, the Big Bang, and our technology is incredible, we can talk to one another from across the world with our computers and cell phones.”
She was just staring at me with her mouth open. I looked at her and patted her on the head and said,” I take it you find the information insightful.”
She smiled brightly and I heard a “Squee” sound like what a dog toy would make, and said,” OH YES!!! This is all so amazing, I never knew humans were capable of all that! Its incredible!
Just then we heard a pounding at the door, Lyra looked confused them looked at me, she said,” BonBon, have you finally come to see that Humans are real. As she opened the door she got stiff as a board, as two larger Pegasus stallions dressed in gold amour with roman style helmets were standing at the door.
“The Royal Guard?” Lyra said.
“Ma’am, we have been sent Princess Celestia, We understand you left Twilight Sparkle’s library with a Human, We need to Interrogate this human in Canterlot with the Princess.” One of the Pegasus Guards had said.
“Interrogate me” I thought. One of them then approached me, this pony said,” sir you need to come with us right now.”
Lyra looked at me with a sad face that made my heart go awwww. I said to her,” its okay, I’m sure whatever this is about will be over soon and I will be back.”
I followed the two Pegasus guards outside to which a golden carriage waiting. I decided to go along with this, not like I can much of a choice, I was in their world now, I assume these gaurds must be the pony version of law enforcement, as someone who tried to become a police officer in my world, I had to respect them. They hooked themselves up to the carriage and started to fly, and carriage started to lift as I saw the town of ponyville get smaller below me. The carriage was moving quite fast, though I wondered how the Pegasus guards ran on air while they flew, but the physics of this world might be different from where I came from. Soon I watched as we flew towards a large mountain with a castle on the side of it. I though to myself, “I hope they don’t have a large earthquake anytime soon.”
We arrived on a small platform and landed, they unhooked from the carriage and asked me to follow them. I watched as I saw more of them all over, some were grey unicorn guards. I asked one of the guards a question?
“So this Princess of yours, is she your ruler or is she the daughter of a king or queen of yours?”
The guard responded saying,”No, she is the co ruler of our country along with her sister Princess Luna, Princess Celestia raises the sun and governs Equestria during the day and sets the sun and Princess Luna raises the moon and governs during the night. Although they are over a thousand years old, so we don’t know who their parents were.”
“Ah..okay, I said.
We reached two giant door and they started to glow yellow and blue and opened, as I walked in, I was amazed by how big this place was. Then I looked ahead and saw two large ponies standing at the end of the room, they looked as big as regular horses would be. The tallest one was white and was wearing a gold crown, breast plate and gold shoes on her hooves, her mane was a mix of colors and it seemed to move on its own, she was very beautiful, though I wasn’t sure what you would call her, as she had a long unicorn horn and wings. Next to her was another winged unicorn, she was a little smaller had a dark blue coat and a dark blue mane and tail the resembled the night sky itself, she had a more serious look on her face.
I approached the two Princess, The white one who I think was Princess Celestia was looking straight at me, then to her guards and dismissed them . She then dismissed her guards and asked me to follow her and her sister. We walked down the hall and into a room that looked very nice, it looked much nicer then any hotel room I have ever seen.
then Celestia turned to me and said,” So you are the Human my student wrote to me about.”
“Yes” I responded and continued,” I don’t know how I got here.”
“I see.” said Princess Celestia
The dark blue princess approached me,” Tell me human, are there more of you here?”
“No, not that I know of, I ended up here alone.” I responded.
Princess Celestia then responded,” Very well, then I have something important to tell you, but you must keep it secret from everypony you meet.”
I looked at her and said,” understood.”

Princess Celestia began, “800 years ago, Humans did live in Equestria, they lived along side with us, Helping us, built homes for us, most were good, there were some though. Who wanted to do harm to us, only a small number of them were dangerous to us. We kept those at bay, with help from the good humans, But tragedy befell the humans, they started to suffer from a disease that only infected humans. I contacted many of our doctors of the time, and we tried to find a cure, we did, but it was too late.” She closed her eyes and continued,” every human had died, we almost saved them. Princess Celestia then opened her eyes and looked at me and continued,” So we had to bury them in a large underground cemetery and now Fillydelphia sits on top of it. I then asked,” Why was it underground and why did Fillydelphia get built over it ? ”
Princess Celestia then said,” I didn’t want my little ponies to be forced to remember the loss of what was mostly a good race of beings, We also didn’t want our land to be a giant cemetery.” I looked at her “ So why tell me ?”
The princess then said” Me and my sister thought that humans were gone indefinitely but since you are here, it means humans still exist.” I then said,” Yeah, I mean..there are seven billion humans in the world I came from, In our world, a creature such as a unicorn or pegasus is considered imaginary or mythical, We only have regular horses, and they can’t talk, they have an intelligence comparable to a human four year old.” Celestia then said,” I see, so your species are the dominate life forms on your world.” I replied,” Yes.”
~Meanwhile~ Lyra was trotting to Twilight’s tree house. She opened the door and went right up to Twilight and asked,” What did you right about that Human !?”
Twilight looked at her and said,” I just wrote to the Princess that we had a human who appeared here.”
“Well the Royal Guard came and took him away to Canterlot to see Princess Celestia.”
Twilight then said,” Maybe the Princess just wants to see the human for herself.”
Lyra then looked at Twilight, “but he was the first Human I have ever seen, he proves the they are real and not just an old pony tale. He was so tall and strong and ..ohh..those hands..they felt….”
Twilight gave her a strange look and then smiled and said,” You like him Lyra.” she started to giggle.
“WHAT!” Lyra shouted. “I mean no of course not, he’s a human, not a pony.”
Twilight then walked to one of her book shelves and levitated a book down with her magic. The book was entitled “ Equestrian fables” She opened the book and flipped the pages to one about humans. Twilight then started reading.
“Humans are primates, they are not very smart, often very aggressive. They tend to live in tribes. Though they are caring towards their offspring. They were kind to Ponies, some finding ponies…cute…. They helped ponies build homes and taught Ponies abut medicine and early technology.”
“I KNEW IT!” Lyra said. “I knew Humans were responsible for pony society.”
“Lyra, keep in mind that the book I am reading is about mythology.” Twlight replied. “However the fact that this human is here, shows that they are more then mythology, that they are real.”
“He told me he came from a world where there were billions of humans, and that they create advanced and amazing technology, I wish I could go there, it sounds amazing” Lyra said.
Twilight sighed and rolled her eyes. Just then the door to Twilight’s tree house opened.
Rainbow Dash was at the door with Fluttershy, Rainbow was the first to speak.
“Twilight, you won’t believe what was found in Fillydelphia.”
Twilight responded,” What, what did they find?”
Fluttershy then said while shivering,” They found ske…skeletons “
Twilight’s and Lyra’s eyes widened at the mention of the word. Then
Twilight said,” What type of skeletons are they?”
Rainbow Dash then said,” We don’t know , they aren’t pony bones, or dragon, they look like giant monkey bones.”
“Giant monkey bones, wait are they human bones?” Lyra asked.
Rainbow Dash then looked at her and narrowed her eyes,” We don’t know, there were some construction ponies working and they found the bones while digging.”
Twilight thought for a moment and then said,”I think we should go to Fillydelphia and investigate.”
Lyra looked at her,” Really, you mean we can go to see if this is real or not.”
“Sure.” Twilight said, She then started to walk up the stairs and said,” I just need to pack a few things, and Spike can watch the library while I’m away.”
A few minutes later she comes down and Lyra is right by the door bouncing up and down with a saddlebag on that bears her cutie mark,” Okay Twilight I’m ready, I told Bon Bon that I would be away investigating Human bones, she still thinks I’m crazy.”
“Okay then” Twilight responded “Spike!”
Spike came down and saying “Yes Twilight”
Twilight said to him” I need you to watch the library while I’m away in Fillydelphia with Lyra and Rainbow Dash.” Spike noded and said,”on it Twi.”
