Equestria Ninja Girls: Spy Racers - Rio
Driving Blind
Previous ChapterDuring the explosion, Layla woke up to catch her breath and started to regain her memories with the Ninjas and Spy Racers in a brief flashback.
“Marchelo,” Tony introduced himself before Layla pulled his arm to see the tattoo.
Moments later, Layla drove the truck with the chemical inside as she was chased down by the Spy Racers and Ninjas.
“Listen to me and Tony! This truck is loaded with explosives,” Gabby informed Layla.
“Gabby's right! We can't stay here!” Tony advised before dodging Layla’s punch.

“The truck's gonna blow!” Tony warned her.
Layla struggled and groaned, “Get off of me! I have to deliver this! It's my mission!”
Echo used her spy glasses and saw an empty beach up ahead, knowing what to do with the truck. She drove the truck straight towards the beach.
“We gotta ditch!” Angel yelled.
Tony, Gabby, Echo, and Layla screamed after jumping out of the truck in slow motion until the truck drove into the ocean and exploded.
Afterwards, Layla saw a bright light as the serum started to wear off.
“Layla!” Gabby yelled.
“Layla!” Tony shouted as well.
Layla felt her head ringing as she looked around and observed the area. “Are we in Rio?”
“Yeah. Are you okay? What's going on?” Gabby inquired.
Layla did her best to remember what happened. She explained, “I remember going undercover, the… The favela, the gangsters…”
Then, the Spies and Ninjas heard the sounds of motorcycles coming to their location.

“Yo, we got company!” Echo called.
“We gotta move. Now!” Leo shouted.
While Tony called his car for a pickup from his spy watch, Layla continued, “They did something to me.”
Tony answered, “Uh, yeah, that was kind of us.”
Gabby told her, “We threw you out of the truck. Before it exploded.”
With the Torettos helping Layla up, she told everyone, “No. It's this formula. It's mind control. I figured it out before she caught me.”
“Mind control?” Tony wondered.
“She?” Leo asked.
“Wait, who caught you?” Gabby questioned her.
With the Spies and Ninjas having a little bit of time to think, Dr. Cluckingsworth with the Turtle Racer and Tony’s car arrived at the beach.
“We gotta go!” Echo ran to Tony’s car.
“Come back with us. We can take down whoever's behind this,” Leo suggested.
Layla rebuffed, “No. I'm going back in.”
“Are you serious?” Tony said in disbelief.
“Is she serious?” Angel shockingly replied.
“They still think I'm mind-controlled. I can finish my mission. Nobody controls me.”
Echo honked the horn from Tony’s car. “Yo, just leave her! Let's go!”
“Get out of here everyone! I'll be in touch,” Layla said.
“Wait!” Tony and Gabby shouted together, making Layla stop.
Tony grabbed something from his pocket and told Layla, “Here. Take this eagle camera so we can track you.”
Layla took the camera and told the Ninjas and Spies, “Thanks for coming for me.”
“We're family,” Tony smiled.
“And you're my best friend, Layla.” Gabby hugged her. “Friends stand by each other. Unlike some people!” Gabby then shot a glare at Echo while she rolled her eyes.
Dr. Cluckingsworth honked the horn of the Turtle Racer and clucked loudly.
“We gotta go! Now!” Leo ordered.
Tony told her, “Good luck, Layla.”
Layla nodded and ran off on her own while everyone else went to their vehicles and drove out of the beach. After that, the motorcyclists arrived as Layla met up with them.

“This way! Vamos lá! Let's go!” Rocha ordered Layla.
Layla entered the car and the driver sped off as the police arrived.

“Oh, this is just great. What happened?” Rocha angrily questioned Layla.
Layla thought back in a brief flashback when she was under mind control and arrested to make it look convincing.

“Good thinking having me arrest you to finish that score,” said Rocha.
Layla replied, “You don’t have to tell me my plan was awesome. I know.”
Back in the present, while Layla continued to recollect her memories, Rocha yelled, “Layla! Who attacked the truck?”
“I don't know! You're the police , why don't you investigate? Hmm. Why are your friends chasing us?”
Rocha answered, “I just arranged security for the truck.”
“Yeah, nice job with that.”
“I can't hide a giant explosion from everyone, including the whole department!”
“Why did we get attacked in the first place?!” Layla yelled.
A police car drove up to them and ram Rocha’s car on the side.
Rocha growled in Portuguese, “Fala sério!” He drove to a U-turn and made the police car ran into the street light. After that, more police cars were chasing after them.
“Ay caramba! We've got to get out of here!”
Layla told him, “Then drive better!”
“Me? I wouldn't be in this mess if that's what you'd done with that truck.”
“That's it! Gimme the wheel!” Layla insisted and used the steering wheel without hesitation.
A surprised Rocha said, “Hey! What are you doing?”
“Just shut up and floor it!”
Layla drove the car herself while Rocha screamed and watched as a police car was heading towards them.
“I said floor it!” Layla used her hand to make Rocha floor the gas pedal. Rocha continued screaming and the police car moved out of the way until it flew up in the air and crashed landed down. Layla drove to the road on the left until she drifted half-circle towards the shadows of the street, hiding behind the dark alleyway.
“Whoa! Yikes!” Rocha exclaimed.
Layla shushed him, “Shhh!” The police cars passed by Rocha’s car and the two exhaled in relief after they were gone.
“Never insult my driving again!” Layla told him while Rocha scoffed.
Back in Dom’s safe house, Cisco, Frostee, Gary, Donut, Chaplin, Donnie, Mikey, Caitlyn, Zach, Buffy, Twilight, and Spike were watching the surveillance feed from Layla’s contact lenses as a hidden camera. After that, the rest of the Ninjas and Spy Racers entered the building.
“Is that camera up and running?” Tony asked.
Donnie answered, “Perfectly clear.”
Caitlyn asked, “What's going on?”
Applejack vented, “Why in the name of sweet molasses is Layla still with those varmints?!”
While Blade Swipe and Raph held her back, Leo answered, “We couldn't stop her.”
Tony agreed, “Leo's right. She's so mad about what they did to her.”
Gabby added, “We couldn't get her out if we tried.”
“Wait, who did what to her?!” Frostee asked.
“That formula controls people's minds. That's why she was trying to take us out before!” Gabby explained.
Echo quipped, “At least that's what she said.”
“What do you mean? You don't believe her?” Tony said.
Raph answered, “Well, some of us don't.”
Applejack nodded, “Ah agree. Ah don't trust her because of Layla bad-mouthed the name of family.”
“I'm still miffed at getting beaten by her back in LA, and getting punched by her at that mountain race,” Rainbow remembered, feeling her cheekbone with her hand.
Casey said, “Donnie and I are still mad at her for calling the Turtle Racer a piece of junk.”
“Very!” Donnie added with a frown.
“I'd researched Layla's background,” Chaplin told everyone. “And her track record is... not the best.”
Caitlyn admitted, “Layla tried to kill us and is working for Fishface, who might I add once held me hostage.”
Raph concluded, “And I have trust issues with her.”
Echo explained, “And yesterday, all those gangsters were calling her "boss". Today, she said she was mind-controlled, but she went right back in the car with the gangsters!”
“But she's wearing my pin,” Tony told her.
Cisco said, “Mind control, bro?! I believe in weather machines, mutants, and aliens as much as anyone, but this sounds like a crazy conspiracy.”
Gabby frowned, “You guys are all bad friends. Except you Frostee.”
Cisco groaned, “Ah man!”
Frosted smiled, “Why thank you, Gabby.”
Sonata told her boyfriend, “Actually, it's not a conspiracy theory, Cisco.”
“What do you mean by that?” Cisco asked.
“When we were a part of the Shredder’s Foot Clan, Shredder told us he used a mind control formula on Karai when we were trained by him.”
Raph raised his hand, “I can vouch for that.”
“Really? I did not know that, Sonata.” Cisco said.
Rarity raised her hand, “I was… also mind-controlled before. Just one month ago, I was mind-controlled by dark Equestrian magic thanks to Sombra, who also mind-controlled my prince-- I mean my friend, Amethyst Majesty.”
Cisco responded, “Wow, you guys deal with all sorts of crazy stuff back in your home.”
Echo asked, “Wait. Did you just say that your friend is your "prince"?”
Rarity blushed and motioned her arms from left to right, shaking her head, “No, no, no, darling. Y-Y-You must've had your ears rung after from the explosion back at the beach.”
“Right…” Echo smirked.
“Sure you didn't...” Buffy teased.
Pinkie said, “Guys. Our friends are telling the truth.”
Suddenly Twilight, Donnie, and Frostee started piecing the puzzles together about what happened in the makeshift lab.
“Of course. Spike did all those tricks because he breath the fumes from the formula,” Twilight said.
Frostee added, “And Donut listened to us when he ran through the formula, and at my house, the formula exploded.”
Suddenly, Mikey and Sonata remembered what happened at the explosion in Frostee’s room.
Sonata gasped, “We were in your room and ended cleaning up Frostee's room and the restaurant, and…”
“Combing a bunch of doll hair,” Mikey continued until he gasped, “We mind-controlled ourselves!”
Raph asked, “But why didn't it explode here?”
Donnie answered, “Just as it was about to explode, we used Donut's banana smoothie to stabilize the formula.”
Carter asked, “Why did that work?”
Mikey explained, “Because potassium is a stabilizing compound. If the formula is given a stabilizing compound before it explode, it will be perfectly usable.”
Everyone stared at Mikey for getting something involved with science correctly.
“...Guess that phrase about a broken cuckoo clock is true,” Frostee commented.
“Do you guys even know what this means?” Gary asked as his kind started to visualize.

“Someone with this kind of power could bring forth an apocalyptic catastrophe like never before. A single puppet master capable of…”
Angel shouted, “Stop! We get it, it's bad. We don't have time for a whole thing.”
Raph quipped, “Yeah, we all get it already, Gary. Our human friends, my turtle bros and I saw it firsthand before.”
Tony informed everyone, “Guys, we gotta figure out what Layla is up against and who the ringleader is.”
Chaplin said, “I think "puppet master" is the more accurate term.”
“Fine. Puppet master. Now can you get us some aerial footage of the compound?” Tony asked.
“Pulling up the satellite feed now,” Gary replied and used the computer to pull up aerial footage.
Leo told Frostee, “Frostee, we need to know everything we can about how this formula works.”
“If it works,” Caitlyn said.
Sunset asked the rest of the science team, “How long does it last? What happens when you are influenced? Everything.”
“Ooh! Science experiment time! I love it!” Twilight cheered.
Gabby told everyone, “Layla's going into the lion's den and she needs our support.”
Meanwhile, Rocha drove his car back to his boss’s base of operations with Layla.
“Layla!” She heard Gabby’s voice as more memories from her mind-controlled phase started to resurface in her mind. Then she heard Tony’s voice, “Wake up!””
In a brief flashback, Layla remembered meeting up with Agent Medina with her "boss". Layla’s boss reached for her phone and sprayed Agent Medina with the mind control formula. Then Layla remembered the warehouse where more chemical substances of the mind control formula was held.
“So you weren't at the warehouse and you weren't running security along the side of the truck. Where were you?” Layla questioned Rocha.
“My job was just to clear the streets. I did what I was supposed to do! You better not try telling her this was my fault!” Layla looked worried as she looked up at the mural of Rafaela on the side. Rocha noticed her, “What's wrong with you?”
“Nothin'.”
Rocha informed her, “Well get it together. 'Cause you're explaining to the boss why her formula is gone.”
Meanwhile, the Tech Support had finished a new batch of the formula.
Twilight said, “Okay, in order to test how this mind control formula works, we need a test subject.”
Fluttershy spoke up, “Well, I'm against animal testing! Use me.”
“No, use me as a lab rat!” Cisco raised his hand while Donut chattered about his head ringing.
Frostee said, “No. We need someone or some people who doesn't actually follow commands.”
“What?! I don't foll…” Cisco was abruptly interrupted by Chaplin.
“Grab me a sample of that formula please?”
Cisco answered, “Right away!” He was going to grab a sample of the formula until he stopped and realized, “Oh… Okay. Yeah.”
“You see what we're saying?” Donnie asked Cisco.
“Point taken,” Cisco understood.
“We need a subject,” Frostee called everyone until Raph and Rainbow Dash looked at Blade Swipe.
Blade Swipe commented, “Okay, first of all: I was already a lab rat for the Kraang, so… no. Absolutely not! And second: Me and Gary are soldiers, so it wouldn't help if we got sprayed.”
Gary agreed, “He's right. I love following orders. To test your formula, we need some people who are absolutely stubborn, borderline irresponsible, a born rebel, a maverick renegade with the soul of an outlaw and the hard head of a Brahma bull.”
Everyone looked at Tony, Raph, Casey, Aria, and Rainbow Dash.
Aria commented, “What?”
“Why is everyone looking at us?” Raph asked.
Rainbow clarified, “Uh… Look, we get it. We're all those awesome things Gary just said…”
Tony continued, “But our mind is too strong to be controlled.”
The five crossed their arms and smiled.
Frostee ordered his pal, “Spray them, Cisco.”
Cisco took the opportunity and sprayed Tony, Raph, Casey, Aria, and Rainbow.

Casey commented, “See? Nothing.”
Raph agreed, “He's right. Nothing's changed.”
“Do a handstand. All of you,” Donnie ordered.
“Yeah, you got it,” Tony said.
Raph, Aria, Tony, Casey, and Rainbow performed a handstand.
“I don't know. Tony likes doing handstands,” said an unsure Echo.
Keno ordered, “Hmm… Clap your hands.”
Rainbow, Raph, Aria, Casey, and Tony all clapped their hands while doing a handstand.
“Well what do you know, they're happy and they know it! Let me join!” Pinkie insisted and joined the four to do a handstand while clapping her hands. “WHEEEE! This is fun!”
“Wait. Let me try something,” Gary announced and grabbed his mission log. “Tony, fill out my mission report.”
Tony stopped and stood back up. He answered, “No problem.”
“Aw schnap, mind control is real!” Echo reacted.
“You just realized that just now?” Spike questioned Echo.
Gary then said, “You know what, never mind. I actually like filling these out. It's my "me time", you know?”
“Quiet! I think we're about to meet the boss,” Gabby alerted everyone as they watched the surveillance footage from Layla’s hidden camera.
Everyone moved in and watched the monitors to get a good look from Layla’s hidden camera/point of view.
They entered the mansion and saw Fishface waiting for them.
“Let me guess, you failed too,” Rocha said.
Fishface replied, “I don't wanna talk about it.”
Layla followed them while figuring out who she's working for. They went upstairs and stopped right in front of a bookshelf. Rocha slanted the book to the right and it opened up a secret passageway. They walked through the secret passage and entered the boss’s office. Layla remembered who her boss was after looking at the furniture and the family portraits. She said, “Rafaela.”
Rafaela turned her chair around and revealed herself.

She interrogated them, “Literally, where is my formula?!”
Everyone was stunned beyond belief back in the safe house.
Echo gasped, “It's Rafaela!”
“No, way!” Caitlyn said in disbelief.
“I did not see that coming!” Carter exclaimed.
“The girl who has my name?” Raph called.
“Only better,” Mikey laughed until Raph smack his head.
“Wait? You mean the girl from the painting?” Sunset said.
Angel recalled, “Oh yeah. We saw that in the street before. I thought she was dead. What is going on?”
“Oh, this is big. I've got to let Ms. Nowhere know,” Gary panicked and tried to call his boss on his phone.
Cisco thought, “Why would Saint Rafeala fake her own death? Everyone loves her.”
Frostee wondered, “And what does she need mind control for?”
Sonata reacted, “This is crazy. Mind. Blown.”
Buffy told everyone, “Hang on, be quiet. Layla has to keep her cover. How much does she remember?”
Rafeala stared at a picture of her and her father when she was little.
“You know, this use to be my daddy's office, obvi.” Rafaela laughed. “I mean, okay, enough oak already! Anyway, Daddy was so basic. Every day was "Cean your room!" or "Stop torturing your classmates!" Supes annoying, right? But he was also supes good at getting rid of people who disappointed him. I was going to mind-control everyone and finally get out of this dump, but you uggos ruined everything! I should send you three back out to play in traffic, but I need you dummies.”
Frostee said, “This woman is a saint? She sounds like a little, spoiled brat.”
“I'm thinking that part of the story might have been embellished,” April figured.
“She's like a mix of Mikey's immaturity with Raph's anger,” Donnie commented.
“Yeah, A deadly combination right there,” Chaplin agreed.
“We have to do something!” Echo exclaimed. “We know where Layla is, what the chemical is used for, and who the crime boss is.”
Gabby agreed with her friend’s statement, “She's right. It's time to take down Rafaela’s operation.”
Gary ended the phone call after no response from his boss and told everyone, “We can't. We need to wait for Ms. Nowhere, and we have no idea what she's learned from Interpol.”
“Then call her again,” April suggested.
“She may already know Rafaela is alive. This could all be a part of a larger op.” He called Ms. Nowhere again from his phone.
“This is Ms. Nowhere's voicemail. But who leaves voicemails anymore? Text me, weirdo! Ugh, I bet it's Gary.”
Gary said, “Voicemail. Looks like we're gonna have to sit and wait.”
The teens groaned in frustration after that.
“Really?! That's it?! She didn't answer the phone once, so you give up?! Text her, weirdo!” Echo retorted.
Gary commented, “You really are a little Nowh…”
Donnie told everyone, “Guys, you really think they would've gone to play in traffic?”
“Yeah. And what's their definition of "play"?” Cisco asked.
Chaplin ordered, “We should see how far this formula will make someone go. Tony, smash your hand with the wrench.”
Tony grabbed the wrench and placed his left hand on the table. “Yep! Here goes smashing!”
Everyone gasped in fright and Gabby shouted, “Whoa, whoa, whoa! Basta, basta!”
Rarity exhaled in relief, “Oh thank goodness!”
Frosted sighed, “Wow!”
“No smashing. You got it,” Tony confirmed and tossed the wrench away.
“Por favor, don't ever do that again,” Gabby scolded Chaplin.
Frostee stated, “This mind control stuff is dangerous! I mean, like, extra dangerous.”
Adagio scoffed, “Heh. Tell that to Karai and Rarity. They know what it's like to be mind-controlled.”
“Guys, Brat Rafeala is back on,” Sunset called everyone.
Rafaela continued talking from the feed, “And what to do about it...” Back in Rafaela’s office, the crime boss continued, “My synthetic formula is completely gone, right? Blown up five-ever?”
“Uhhh…. Five-ever?” Fishface wondered.
Rocha explained, “Yeah. The truck got blown up while Fishface was protecting the truck and Layla was driving, though.”
“Grrrr. Why you little…” Fishface whipped out his balisword and was going to attack him, but Layla held him back.
“Oh don't be such a snitch, Rocha!” Rafaela told him. “You were supposed to run cover.”
“Is the government on to us? We need to figure out what‘a going on,” Rocha said.
“I know exactly what's going and how to solve our little problem..
Then, Rafaela was interrupted by the alarm going off. She turned around to see the monitors and gasped.
“Seems like we have an intruder,” Fishface guessed as the doors started clanking.
“Who's coming?” Layla asked.
Rafaela hid herself and a henchman entered the office, holding a long skirt. The henchman said, “Sorry to interrupt, boss. Rocha said you wanted a skirt, so this is what I bought for you.” He showed Layla the skirt. “Is this okay?”
Layla was unsure about the skirt and answered, “Um… That seems… Yeah, that seems, fine.”
Everyone struggled to keep Rarity quiet over a fashion disaster back at the safe house until Rafaela stomped out from her hiding spot. “What?! Even!” She shouted, “This is what you got for me?!”
The henchman fell down to his knees and said, “S-S-Saint Rafaela?! You're alive! You have returned!”
“An A-line skirt?!” Rafaela angrily yelled.
Fishface sighed and spoke in Spanish, “Rafeala is such a slave to fashion.”
The henchman whimpered as Rafaela took the skirt and used it to whip him, “Do you have any idea how this cuts me off in a weird angle?!”
“She's horrid, but that skirt could work with an off-the-shoulder barely top...”
Applejack told her, “Not the time, Rarity.”
As the lackey begged for mercy, Rafeala used her phone to spray her personal supply of the mind control serum on him. Layla made sure the others saw this.
Fishface whispered in Spanish, “Why couldn't Shredder use this method instead of those disgusting worms?”
Rafaela commanded, “You stand at the crossroads. Follow me and obey only my commands.”
Back in the safe house, the heroes figured out how Layla got her mind controlled.
“No way. Tech support, check it out!” Echo called.
“A portable chemical dispenser inside a electronic device... Fiendishly clever,” Chaplin commented, impressed by her tactic.
“Now get out and learn something about fashion... And DON'T tell anyone I'm alive!” Rafaela ordered her henchman.
“Stupid salesman! Never trust a man in Capri pants.” The henchman cried.
Gary told Rarity, “This guy knows more about fashion than Rafaela is giving him credit for.”
Everyone continued watching as Rafaela complained, “I have to dress like a homeless lady every time I leave the mansion and it's a million degrees outside and all of this turns into a total swamp!” Rocha groaned and Rafaela remembered, “Oh yeah, you don't sweat. Rocha, how many people do we have under the control of the original pimenta?”
“About thirty,” Rocha answered.
“And you, Xevy, our supply of the old formula?” Rafaela asked.
Fishface replied, “Almost gone, ma'am.”
“The favela race is only two days away. I need a new truckload of synthetic pimento by then.” Rocha frowned, ignoring what Rafaela just said. She snapped her fingers, “Hello? Anyone home?” Rocha listened and Rafaela demanded, “GO. MAKE. MORE!”
Back in the safe house, Donnie spoke, “On second thought, her temper's may be even worse than Raph's!”
Back in the safe house, Echo asked Gary, “Why does she need it for the race?” Gary shrugged and Echo replied, “Great. Thanks for your thoughtful reflection.”
“Speaking as a former villain, if I had this kind of formula and wanted to use it on a lot of people, I'd use it during a public event,” Blade Swipe said.
Adagio agreed, “He's right. It's the quickest way to get many people at once.”
While Rocha left, Fishface and Layla were the only two individuals left with Rafaela.
Layla spoke up, “I-I can help him with the formula.”
“I have something else in mind for you. Follow me,” Rafaela informed her. “Xever, you're with me.”
“Right,” Fishface answered and followed her with Layla too.
Then, Adagio saw Aria doing Sonata's nails. She deadpanned, “Seriously, Sonata?”
“What? I think we should enjoy Aria being under mind control.”
“I agree. Rainbow, go change into this,” Rarity held up a beautiful dress and showed it to her.
“You got it,” Rainbow answered and went to the bathroom.
Mikey ordered, “Raph, eat that piece of gum on the floor.”
“On it,” Raph nodded and was going to grab a piece of gum on the floor.
“NO! DON'T!” Casey yelled, tackling Raph.
“GAH!” Raph yelped.
While Frostee was watching the monitor, he gasped and remembered something, “Yo, where's Tony?”
Cisco answered, “Oh, I told him he was a ninja on an important mission.”
Tony then suddenly yelled as he jumped down on the ground and performed ninja-like moves, jumpscaring Frostee.
“Tony, stop!” Frosted yelled.
“Hey now!” Tony grunted until he stopped. “Huh? Sorry, I sometimes forget how my powers of invisibility can scare people.”
“You guys are seriously having fun with this?!” Caitlyn commented while Blade Swipe and a few others snickered at the whole situation.
Twilight informed everyone, “We've been doing this mind control thing wrong. Having Spike do circus tricks or Aria giving manicures is nice, but we're not focusing on the problem.”
Frostee agreed with her, “She's right. And see how I made Tony stop what you told him to do? Even everyone is doing what everyone is saying.”
“No one tells me what to do!” Tony exclaimed.
“Now watch this,” Frostee informed Cisco. He then ordered Tony, “Tony, only listen to me. Don't do what Cisco tells you. And tell him he smells like farts.”
While Frostee snickered, Tony told his pal, “Cisco, you smell like farts!”
“Bam!” Frostee shouted.
“Yo man, that's messed up.” Cisco replied while Donut chittered.
Tony apologized, “I'm sorry, man.”
Rainbow Dash came back in wearing Rarity's dress and Blade Swipe practically fell to the ground, laughing.
“Wow. That dress looks so good on you, RD,” Buffy complimented while taking pictures from her phone.
“Oh, this is so going on my Fashion Blog!” Rarity snickered while taking pictures from her phone as well.
“And my blog,” Caitlyn added, also taking pictures with her phone.
“Tony, tell me I'm your best friend.” Cisco pleaded and Tony said nothing, which Cisco took it personally. “Dang, man. That hurts!”
Donnie spoke up, “Still, we're trying to figure out the necessary chemicals for a means of immunity.”
Suddenly, the guilt hit Cisco for getting his monkey friend mind controlled. “Oh, right. Donut, bro! Aw man, I feel so bad for mind-controlling you.” He tearfully hugged Donut. Cisco then said, “We… we gotta let him go, man.” He told Donut, “You deserve to be free.” Cisco opened the window and placed Donut down. He started sobbing, “Go! Be free! I can't make you stay anymore!”
“Uh… you want me to mind-control him and then you can tell him to be free?” Frostee asked.
Cisco put his hands on his head and had his mind blown, never realizing that part before. “Whoa bro, you just blew my mind.” He imitated an explosion, which angered Leo, Echo, Sunset, Adagio, and Gabby.
“Shhh!” Leo shushed the three boys.
“Will you three stop?” Gabby asked.
“Keep your head explosions down! We're trying to hear!” Echo shouted.
“She's right. Just keep the noise down please?” Sunset requested while Donut jumped onto Fluttershy's arms.
Meanwhile, Rafeala was leading Layla to a garage back in her base with Fishface in company.
“I got a little surprise for you,” The crime boss told Layla.
“Oh, you want me to open it?” Layla asked and Rafaela nodded.
Layla looked at the keypad for the garage door as the Spy Racers, Ninjas, and friends watched from the monitors.
“Oh no, does she remember the code?” Zach asked.
Caitlyn answered, “I don't know, bro.”
Angel said, “I hope she gets it, right.”
“Like, any day now.” Rafaela called, testing her patience.
Fortunately, Layla pieced together her memories and typed "UWISH" in. Inside the garage were two cars with extremely tacky paint jobs and a mysterious driver.

“Who's that?” Adagio asked.
“I have no idea,” Leo answered.
Rafaela announced, “You two are going to have a little competish. Winner gets to live.” Layla did not like the sound of that. She continued, “I trusted you to deliver the formula to HQ, but you choked so hard it's like not even funny. I need to know if you can still drive under pressure.”
Layla retorted, “You wanna see how good I drive? Well grab some popcorn because you're about to get a show.”
“You better. I actually paid one of your old SH1FT3R friends for some information on you and he told me you lost to some nobody in a junker car.”
Layla seethed in frustration at being reminded of that.
Back in the safe house, Donnie and Casey reacted angrily.
“Junker car?!” Casey snapped.
“Why that pompous...!” Donnie began.
Gabby told them, “Easy, you two.”
While Cisco, Donut, Keno, Pinkie, Sonata, and Mikey were eating bags of popcorn, Tony came by while rubbing his head. “Man, what's going on? Did someone sucker punch me and knock me out again? That's super bad for your brain, you know.”
“No, you were mind-controlled. Do you not remember anything? The handstand? Acting like a ninja?” Frostee questioned him.
“I did that?” Tony wondered.
Chaplin observed, “Hmm. Interesting...”
“Is that Layla?”
Gabby answered, “Oh primo, you missed a lot of stuff.”
“Do you want the short version or the long version?” Pinkie offered.
Tony answered, “Does it matter? Just please tell me what happened.”
Echo said, “I'll catch you up to speed. Remember Saint Rafaela? She's alive and she's the really annoying puppet master who made all of that mind control formula. Now she's making Layla race against this mystery driver to prove her loyalty. Any questions?”
“Yeah, I got one. What happens if Layla loses?” Sunset asked.
“Aside from that… WHY AM I IN THIS DRESS?!” Rainbow angrily yelled.
The drivers drove up to the starting line with Rafaela in front while Fishface watched. Layla drove the yellow race car while the mystery drive drove the orange race car.

Rafaela informed the competitors, “The course of this race is all set up by Xevy. Drive down, take a lap through all five favelas and get back here. The only rule is… don't lose.”
Fishface informed Layla, “Hope you can back up your claim about being the best, chica.”
She replied, “Watch me. I know what I'm doing.”
Layla stared focus on the task at hand, waiting for the signal. “GO!” Rafaela yelled. The two competitors hit the gas pedal and drove past by Rafaela before racing off in the streets. Rafaela said, “Ride or die! My catchphrases are so perf, how do I not have my own TV show.”
“So, what am I suppose to do now, ma'am?” Fishface asked.
Rafaela ordered, “I'm glad you asked, Xevy. I have a special assignment for you.”
“Right.” Fishface then thought to himself, “At least you're better than Bradford.”
She whispered to him about his assignment and Fishface nodded. He understood, “I see. Okay then. I accept.”
“Excellent. And thanks for teaching me how to activate your traps with this remote control device,” Rafaela showed him the device to activate his traps.
“De nada, Rafaela,” Fishface bowed and exited her mansion.
Both racers drove downwards on the road as Layla bumped the orange car from behind.
“Ticket this!” Layla shouted and took the lead from the mystery driver.
“Satellite feeds are live. There's a downhill turn coming up,” Gary said as everyone watched the race from the monitors.
“Those are super dangerous for those cars. With the wrong angle, and you could create lift. Then it's…” Tony then imitated a car crash.
Raph exclaimed, “I'd say we got to warn her!”
Leo told him, “No. We can't intervene. If Rafeala finds out we're here, it'll mean trouble for us.”
Mikey panicked, “Including Ms. Nowhere, she'll scold us.”
Gabby assured the Turtles, “Oh relax, tortugas. Layla's got this.”
As the race continued, Tony cheered, “Keep that racing line, Layla! Yes!”
The mystery driver drove her car and bumped Layla’s car from behind as payback. “Are you crazy?!” Layla shouted and hit the breaks to get right next to her opponent and both cars sparked as they scraped against each other. She asked, “Are you trying to get us both killed?!” The other driver said nothing and kept driving until it bumped Layla’s car on the side, making it tip over a little.
The teens, Gary, and Donut screamed, making them worried that Layla was going to crash. Luckily, Layla’s car stopped tipping over and kept on driving with the mystery driver in the lead while the teens and Donut sighed in relief back in the safe house.
“Oh thank goodness,” Gary sighed.
While the race continued from the monitors, Rainbow was dressed back into her normal clothes and joined the rest of her friends to watch.
“What did I miss?” Rainbow asked.
“Nothing much,” Chaplin answered. “Layla's race just started. She's up against a mystery driver.”
“Okay,” Rainbow nodded.
Then Cisco groaned, “Layla's driving better, but that mystery driver's a savage, bro.”
Leo explained, “That's because the mystery driver's mind-controlled. He or she has no inhibitions.”
“I've never seen anyone drive wilder than Layla Gray!” Frostee anxiously admitted.
“Yeah, she's the "Wild Card" for a reason,” Rainbow panicked. “No one is supposed to be wilder than a wild card!”
“Ah, that's too wild!” Mikey shrieked with his hands on his head, losing his mind.
“Freaky deaky!” Pinkie said, defying gravity.
The mystery racer then drove through a hidden passageway underneath the road which was activated by Rafaela and Layla followed. Meanwhile, Rafaela surveyed the race from her mansion with the surveillance cameras inside the hidden passageway and activated the first trap from her remote control device as ten electrical trash cans popped up on the road.
“Whoa!” Layla reacted as she dodged the electrical trash cans, as well as the mystery driver.
While they were dodging them, the heroes watched from the satellite feed and Frostee wondered, “Are those... electrical trash cans?”
Mikey answered, “Yeah. I remember that one from Fishface's traps before.”
“At least Layla got past fish boy's trap,” Angel said.
Casey agreed, “Don't count your chickens yet, Fishface's got plenty more of those traps where that came from.”
Rafaela activated the second trap and the water was filled in the holes of the road. After that, a school of piranhas jumped up from each hole. Layla and the mystery driver dodged the incoming piranhas as one of them landed on the window in front of Layla.
“A piranha?” Layla called. “Ew. Get off of my car!” Layla used the windshield and the piranha flew out.
“Dang. Who puts piranhas as an obstacle/in a race?” Echo asked in the safe house.
“Xever, obviously,” Mikey called. “Trust me, I've been bitten by one before.”
“Ouchies,” Pinkie winced.
After going through the piranhas, Rafaela activated the third trap and a group of six large boulders appeared behind the racers.
“Boulders, huh.” Layla said and the two drivers dodged the incoming boulders.
Rafaela then activated the fourth trap and it fired arrows at the drivers. “Woah!” Layla shouted as she dodged the arrows, as well as the mystery driver. Layla exhaled, “Almost got a flat tire there.”
The Spy Racers and Ninjas watched as the two racers competed.
“Oh man, this is so epic!” Cisco called.
“Totally,” Sonata added while eating some tacos.
Rafaela activated the next trap and flamethrowers were shot out of pipes. The two racers dodged the incoming flames from left to right and after they turned to the right, Rafaela activated the last trap, the crushing walls.
“Okay, boulders, arrows, flamethrowers, and now wall crushers?!” Caitlyn exclaimed in disbelief. Is this a race or death trap?!”
“Both,” Mikey and Casey answered.
“Dang, that Fishface creep is all kinds of messed up,” Angel noted.
“No kidding,” Echo agreed.
“And I thought he was crazy when I first fought him,” Blade noted.
“Oh man. I can't watch,” Cisco weeped, closing his eyes.
Frostee stated, “This is going to be close.”
“I hope Layla makes it out of that tunnel,” Tony commented.
“Come on, Layla,” Gabby urged.
The two racers boosted their cars to max speed and dodged the crushing walls until they made it out of the secret tunnel and raced back into the streets.
The Ninjas and Spy Racers cheered that Layla made it out alive.
“Woohoo! She did it!” Tony cheered.
“Ha! In your face, Fishface?!” Gabby hollered.
Meanwhile, in the mansion, Rafaela was impressed, but unsatisfied that none of them didn't get damaged by Xever’s traps.
She sighed, “Oh well. At least I'll wait for them outside,” Rafaela got up from her coach and exited the mansion.
Back on the road, Layla and the mystery driver were speeding through the streets until the mystery driver smashed into Layla on the side. “Oh, so that's how it's gonna be, huh?” Layla questioned. She turned to the corner and saw some scaffoldings, giving her an idea. “This ought to slow you down.” Layla drove over to the scaffoldings and knocked it over, blocking the road for the mystery driver to cross. However, the mystery driver did not hesitate to find a new angle and smashed through a wall with its car.

Half a minute later, the orange car busted through and was hanging air time in a downward slope while Layla raced down the road. As Layla thought she was in the lead, the mystery driver’s car bursted through a building and landed on the road behind Layla, taking the lead. Layla exclaimed, “What the…”
“This is insane!” Zach exclaimed.
Tony agreed, “And too dangerous. We gotta do something to help her.”
Gary told them, “We can't. Ms. Nowhere isn't answering. I still need her authorization.”
“This is where I would usually go rogue, you know. Stupid mind control!” Tony exclaimed.
Donnie informed him, “You're not mind-controlled anymore.”
“Huh… Then I guess I'm just growing as a person.”
“Layla needs to give up, and get out. Her cover's not worth this!” Echo suggested.
Frostee chimed in, bumping into Echo. “You know Layla never gives up! It's almost over. There's a downhill turn and then a sprint up to the finish line.”
Back on the streets of Rio, the racers continued driving with the mystery driver in the lead as they took a turn to the right.
“Don't you do it again! Don't you dare drive off this hill!” Layla begged her opponent. The mystery driver drove straight through another building without any hesitation. “This driver's gonna get itself killed.” Layla said and saw the hole, thinking that she can use a shortcut just like her opponent. However, she changed her mind, “I don't need no shortcut.” Layla drifted and continued driving down the road as the other car bursted through building to building until it gained the lead again.

“Whoa!” Layla screamed.
As the race continued, the heroes and Gary watched from the monitors in anticipation.
Gabby whimpered, “Come on… Don't let it redline too much.”
Tony added, “But don't shift too early!”
Layla found an opening and drove alongside the mystery driver as they entered towards Rafaela’s mansion. With only seconds towards the finish line left, Layla accelerated forward a bit and finished first.

After that, she cheered and celebrated. Back in the safe house, the heroes cheered.
“Yes! She did it!” Rainbow cheered.
“I told you Layla would never give up!” Frostee stated.
After both competitors stopped their cars, Rafaela and Fishface walked towards Layla.
“Yes! I win!” She smiled in victory as Rafaela clapped to applaud her.
Rafaela said before opening the door, “Congrats, L-Money!”
“You really thought someone was come in here and beat me?” Layla questioned her after exiting out of the car.
“No, I'm happy you won. I thought you were the best and I'm always right about everything ever. Your driving at the end was cray. It looked like you were going to drive off the hill, too. But you used your sick skills instead of risking your life. That's when I knew for sure you were faking being mind-controlled.”
Layla gasped and two of her henchmen captured his former partner.
“Hashtag: Busted!” Rafaela stated. “Also, your mystery driver…”
The mystery driver took off the helmet and Layla couldn't believe her eyes. Her opponent was none other than… Ms. Nowhere?

“…is your old boss. Hashtag: Shocker!” Rafaela smirked.
The heroes were shocked to learn that Ms. Nowhere was the mystery racer Layla had to compete with.
“Ms. Nowhere?!” Echo exclaimed.
Angel commented, “Great, the jerkiest woman in the world is under the control of a spoiled brat.”
Casey groaned, “Oh man.”
Twilight spoke up, “Wait, if Nowhere's under her control, then that would mean...”
Back at the mansion, Rafaela informed her, “Also, Xevy told me that he saw you speaking to those teenage friends of yours and also noticed that little camera on your eyes.”
“Where is that little fish of yours? I'm going to have some words with him.”
“Oh you mean, Xevy? He's on his way to meet your friends,” Rafaela laughed maniacally as Fishface led her henchmen to the safe house.
“There it is. Storm the building,” Fishface commanded and Rafaela’s forces approached the building.
April said, “Oh no.”
The ninjas armed themselves.
Leo told everyone, “Remember, these people are under mind control, try not to hurt them.”
Rarity understood, “Of course darling, but...” The fashionista then shot magical diamonds near at the Ninjas and friends. “...we don’t feel the same way.”
The Ninjas and Racers gasped as Rarity, Applejack, Keno, and Carter opened the doors and Rafaela’s forces entered the building. The ninjas realized what this meant as Keno, Carter, Applejack, and Rarity walked over to the armed men.
Spike was baffled by the sudden turn of events and said, “What the what?”
Casey realized, “Oh, sewer apples. Rafaela got you guys as well.”
“They must've been mind-controlled when we got separated dealing with the truck earlier.”
The mind-controlled Keno apologized, “Sorry partners, but we got our orders.”
“Don't make this harder than those cupcakes you baked when we were little, sister.” The mind-controlled Carter said.
“That better be the mind-control talking, or we're gonna have problems,” Angel growled.
Fluttershy spoke up, “Wait! We can't fight our friends.”
“She's right. What are we gonna do?” Frostee asked.
“Well, there's only one thing we can do.” Buffy answered as the Ninjas and Racers waited in anticipation. She then put her hands up. “We surrender!”
“Seriously?!” Aria yelled.
Just then, Tony clucked like a chicken.
Cisco remembered, “Oh yeah, I mind-controlled you to act like a chicken.”
Aria scoffed, “Nice way to lighten the mood, dude.”
The mind-controlled Applejack, “Come on y'all, Rafaela wishes to meet you.”
“Do we have to?” Zach and Caitlyn asked.
Leo told him, “We don't have much of a choice, guys. Just do as they say and keep quiet.”
Fishface laughed, “My, oh my, how the tables have turned. Now move. My boss wants to meet you all personally.”
The heroes agreed and exited the safe house, following Rafaela’s forces along with four of their mind-controlled friends to meet Rafaela.
Meanwhile, one of Frostee’s drones was spying on them and the one watching was Vinyl Scratch, hiding in her car.
