Love Is The Most Powerful Thing
Sent to Ponyville
Load Full StoryNext Chapter"Absolute power can and will corrupt even the most wonderful, the best ponies among us. The Princesses of long ago, the benevolent and just Celestia and the sweet and kind Luna, ruled well for centuries. All the ponies lived in a state of eternal happiness. That is, until the fateful day when the sisters were turned to madness, to evil, by terrible beings bent on ruling Equestria. The two fought a civil war over who was the best, most skilled, best at ruling Equestria. Noting the ponies' horror, the Princess of Love, Princess Cadence, summoned the most powerful, long forgotten magic known to ponykind: The Elements of Harmony. Using the power of these dangerous magical artifacts, she defeated her evil aunts. Once she had restored safety to Equestria, she took the rule and safety of Equestria into her hooves, ruling our wonderful land."
A white unicorn, perched on a hill, was reading aloud from a storybook.
"Elements of Harmony? Cool name. I'm sure I've heard of them before..."
She flipped through the pages, but there was no more on them.
"Ugh," she muttered, magically hovering the book into her saddlebags.
She galloped of towards Canterlot, muttering to herself about, "Stupid books."
She suddenly gasped.
Three mares had popped up out of nowhere and were smiling moronically at her. She dug her hooves into the ground in a desperate attempt to stop.
"Hi Vinyl! We were, like, wondering whether you wanted to come to Moondancer's get together?"
She shifted her hooves anxiously.
"Sorry girls...I've got a lot of boring homework, sure wish I could come!" she kept galloping.
The three fillies watched her go, rolling her eyes.
"I swear, that's like her reason for everything. Like, either homework or those stupid wubs."
"I think, she likes wubs more than friends."
They all nodded.
Meanwhile, Vinyl had arrived at her Canterlot house.
She raced in, ignoring all the wubs and DJs for once, instead heading for the library she'd never used before but her mentor had insisted on putting in.
"Oh, where is it?"
She used magic to pull all the books beginning with "E" down from the shelves. Now that they were lying on the floor in one huge messy pile, she looked through them.
"Aah, Elements of Harmony," she said, grinning.
She flipped through the pages.
"Let's see: The Elements of Harmony are six mysterious gems. Their names are Honesty, Kindness, Laughter, Generosity and Loyalty. The sixth one is not known. These gems are the most powerful magic known to ponykind. They have saved Equestria many times and will surely do so again. When these gems are harnessed, they create a bolt of pure power, strong enough to defeat anything. Many speculations have been made as to what these truly are, and what the sixth elements is, but nothing more is known about them."
That was all the book had.
"Well, that was a crappy explanation. I don't know any more now than I did before!"
She slammed her hoof down. Suddenly there was a knock at her door, something that didn't happen often. It was normally either the Queen or ponies complaining that her music was too loud.
She opened the door and was relieved to see her mentor.
"Hey Queen," she slid her glasses back up her nose.
"Hello, Vinyl."
"Um...no offense, but what'd I do wrong?"
"Nothing, this time. I have a job for you, though," said Cadence.
"What is it?" sighed Vinyl.
"Vinyl, I'd appreciate it greatly if you didn't take that tone with me," said Cadence sternly.
"Sorry," said Vinyl much more nicely.
"Well, it's a heavy request, but I need you to oversee the Summer Love Celebration in Ponyville. Now, I know it's not ideal, but I really wish you would do it. Plus, it would give you a perfect opportunity to make some friends!"
Vinyl looked around from where she was perched in her chariot. There wasn't much of a view, occasionally she saw a cow. Oh, the excitement.
Three hours ago, she was excited to be going someplace other than Canterlot. She admittedly didn't get out much, and while she'd have to do work, she'd never been to Ponyville and was kinda, embarrassingly, excited to be going there.
But that enthusiasm ebbed, as she had literally nothing to do. It was kind of terrifying to be stuck up in the sky, since she was, you know, a unicorn. Her father, who she could dimly remember was a pegasus, had flown her on his back when she was a tiny foal, but this was different. This was more real, even though she was in a chariot, she could easily slide out the back. Or the pegasi flying it could, for some strange reason, somehow just drop from the sky.
Vinyl shook herself from her thoughts. It probably wasn't good to be thinking about that.
She felt the bottom of the chariot scrape against dirt, creating a path. She jumped out, a scroll hovering in her magic.
"Let's see. The Summer Love Celebration is tomorrow, so I have one day, today, to complete all these things. There's food, which is supplied by the...Apple Trust? What's that? Anyway, there's weather, by somepony named Rainbow Dash, who's on storm watch. Decorations are being done by somepony called Rarity, and music is somepony named Fluttershy, who's a bird conductor," said Vinyl.
She walked down the road, a slight skip in her step.
