//-------------------------------------------------------// Cruciale -by ThatOneBrix- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter One - Investigating //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter One - Investigating Tick.. Tick.. Tick.. Sunset was sure this day would never end. Did she even need to learn about poems and their "deeper meanings" anyways? Her eyes glanced at her paper, and then the board. Her paper most mostly empty, compared to the almost completely full board of complex words, "deeper" meanings and diagrams. "Sunset Shimmer. Could you please tell us who William Shakespeare is, rather than day-dreaming?" Miss Harshwinnie asked. Every singe student in that room stared at her. Sunset swallowed her anxiety to the of of her stomach. "He was a writer and poet in the 1560's. Born 23rd April. He lived to be 52 years old before he died." She smirked. "And how, Miss Shimmer, did he die?" "Trick question," she said. Nobody knows." She shot back. Miss Harshwinnie smiled. "Good. At least somebody asides from Twilight is paying attention. But, by your paper, some writing needs to be done before you leave." Sunset nodded. "I apologize." "Apology accepted," She said, turning around. "Now can anyone tell me..." The bell finally rung and everyone rushed out the door, asides from Sunset, who was almost done, and Twilight who, unlike some people, cares about the state of her desk after lesson. After her final pencil was packed away, she sat next to Sunset, who was deep in writing. Their fingers magically intertwined as Sunset smiled and didn't feel stressed. well, as stressed as before, but still. Twilight looked out the window just in time to watch as a bright light hit the forest, and faded. "Sunset, did you see that?" She asked, gently shaking the girl, snapping her concentration away. "See what?" Sunset asked, looking out the window. "There's nothing there." Twilight rolled her eyes. "You weren't looking, so obviously you saw nothing! There was a bit flash of light near the forest and then it disapeared!" Sunset shrugged. "Knowing our luck, it's probably an Equestrian artifact." Twilight had basically dragged Sunset outside after her work has been completed. The sun has been beating down for the past 3 hours, and in Sunset's case, wearing leather in the middle of the summer wasn't a good idea. Sunset huffed. "Get searching. We can find them whatever it is soon and send them back to Equestria." The two went off in opposite directions, but failed to notice the single arrow in the dirt. Sunset walked along the small dirt path. It did lead to the school greenhouse, but ever since Wallflower transferred to another out-of-town school, nobody took is seriously and most kids used it for drinking or smoking in school. It was rundown, hardly safe for anyone to be here in the first place. Sunset walked all the way aroune, before something shone in the wreckage. She couldn't see much, but it was a golden colour. She couldn't reach it from outside, so she had to go in to retrieve it. The greenhouse itself was overridden with the small insects that had claimed it home. The further she went in, the smaller and more cramped it got. Finally, she reached the...weapon? If looked like a crossbow? It was plated in gold, and looked as if something was out of place. "No, no." She told herself. " This is going back to Equestri- ohmygodithasmycutiemarkonit" Sunset sighed. "It's a coincidence. it's not yours." Twilight screamed. Without thinking again, she ran over to where her area would of been. She was surrounded by wooden wolves. Timberwolves. Sunset thought. But that's impossible, they're only in Equestria! Sunset winked at Twilight. "HEY!" she yelled. All the wolves that were focusing on the lavender girl were now focused on her. "GO AND PICK ON SOMEONE YOUR OWN SIZE!" "Sunset, you're their size!" Sunset deadpannes. "Oh, shit." They charged at the girl, who shot every single one of them until they were reduced to nothing but piles of log and leaves on the floor. No blood spilled, to their relief. "Sunset, behind you!" Twilight yelled. Sunset turned around just in time for a paw to scratch down her eye. Blood fell from the wounds, thank Celestia they weren't that deep, otherwise, the siruation would be more serious, and the amber girl would be in more pain. Before her, stood another wolf. She growled at it. "I will do to you what I did with your little army!" He chuckled. "Quite a funny one, aren't you? I didn't want you to give you that..injury, but I have my reasons. I don't want to kill you either. Just give me those weapons and I'll leave you and your little school alone." "Weapons?" Sunset asked. "Twilight, did you find one?" She nodded and showed the bow in her hand, along with a quiver on her back, full of arrows. "I picked it up and I got attacked." The wolf growled. "Give me the weapons. I won't ask again. They're important to a cause way more serious than this world could handle." Even though Sunset hardly knew anything about these weapons, she knew how powerful they were. In the wrong hands, or even paws, they could be destructive. Instead of playing it passive, she looked towards Twilight. "You know how to use that thing?" She nodded and stared the timberwolf straight in his eyes. "No." He laughed once more. "Excuse me, what did you just say to me?" "You heard me. I said NO. Sunset shot back. The wolf growled. "You don't know what you've just done. I'm a forced to be reckoned with. when I choose what I want. Youre lucky I let you walk away. Being a leader takes work, y'know." He walked off into then forest and Sunset fell down to the ground. "Sunset, we're going to the hospital. That looks bad enough, and it's probably infected." The girl nodded. Twilight helped her up and they walked out of school grounds, with their weapons in hand, wondering what they were. Sunset was in the hospital room. The silent buzz of the overhead lights were the only thing that could be heard. Sighing, Twilight broke the silence and shifted in her place."Crossbow, huh?" She said, looking at it. "Looks old and rustic, yet it still works like new. Definitely Equestrian magic." "Whatever they are," Sunset started. "I'm gonna kill Starswirl one of these days." Author's Note I got a new phone with a much higher battery power, so chapters can come out faster! Anyways, I'll start work on chapter like, 6 or whatever tomorrow. See you next time! //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 - Ruined Night //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 - Ruined Night Sunday's injury wasn't that but of a deal, but it still fucking hurt. Twilight showered her with love and affection all the way through to keep Sunset's hospital fears at bay. She was always scared of the ones in this world, as she should be. Back in Equestria, the magic there was so strong that it you got attacked, you'd be out within 20 minutes with next to no after-pain. But, this wasn't a magical world, and Sunset knew that. For the 3 bloody scars across her eye to be healed, she was given the correct doses of medicine, as well as a white eyepatch. it has an elastic band around it, and she was permitted to take it off for certain durations of the day. Along with that, she was also given pain medication, just in case. Sunset was confused. "These are for people with way more serious injuries than mine. why do I get one?" Redheart sighed. "The scars started at the top and made their way to the bottom of your eye. On the way down, the thing that you got attacked by, well, slightly damaged your iris. You're not completely blind, don't worry. But this is just a precautionary measure as any more serious damage could cause permanent blindness in your eye." Twilight cuddled Sunset as the news sort of..set in. "Am I able to go home?" The nurse looked down at her clipboard and nodded. Once she was given the all-good, she stood up, Twilight grasping her hand in a loving way. They smiled at each other before leaving. Twilight and Sunset just sat in her front room, watching some show about a man with a magical book, who could kill people if he wrote their names in it. Twilight held Sunset's small body against hers, in a comforting way. Sunset moved to place her head In her lap. Just as she was about to fall asleep, Twilight's stomach grumbled. "We can get food," she paused to yawn. "Ya know.." Twilight chuckled. "I don't wanna be a burden. You just got out of the hospital, so at least let me pay!" Sunset awkwardly got up and nuzzled Twilight. "You know the rules." "Yeah, but- she got interrupted by a kiss on the lips. "Next time, I'm paying, you little minx!" Twilight had Sunset pinned below her. "Don't make me tickle you." Sunset chuckled and grabbed into Twilight's chest as she got up. The two were at the same level. Before Twilight could say anything, Sunset dove into her neck, cuddling Twilight. Twilight rubbing her back for a while, rocking gently. "I'll go order food, you get some rest." Sunset nodded. "You know what I like, right?" Rolling her eyes, she nodded. "Would we be together if I didn't?" Twilight picked up the phone and began to order as Sunset quietly dozed off on the couch. After ordering, she say down and Sunset imminently cuddled into her lap. The silent buzzing of the TV, the light snores and the feeling of how the "little" bundle of joy almost depended on her, the knock on the door was the life she wanted. if this is now peaceful being magical heroes would get, she would have it in a heartbeat. Wait, knocking on the door? How long has that been going on for? Twilight rose up perhaps a bit too fast and looked back. Sunset stirred a bit before cuddling her head into her own arms. She rolled her eyes as she picked up money from the counter and opened the door. "Hey Rainbow! Get fired again?" Rainbow laughed. "Yeah. Apparently I "wasn't doing good enough." Half the time I'm saving the city from a giant dog creatures from another world or just a drug dealer! So it's not my fault I don't show up most shifts!" Twilight rolled her eyes. "Some people still don't believe magic exists and were going to have to deal with that." Rainbow handed her the bags and Twilight handed her $25 with a $15 tip. "Anyways, Sunset's probably starving, and you probably need to do a few more orders. Talk to you later?" Rainbow nodded. "Got a few more deliveries to..well.. deliver and then I'm off around maybe 10? don't know. My geode will help me though, have a nice night!" She said, before speeding off down the steps and down the stairs. Twilight was smart, but she could never try an decipher Rainbow's mind. Twilight made her way back to the sofa, where Sunset was now on her back, a weak smile plastered onto her face. Twilight gently rubbed her stomach and her smile extended more. "Sunset," Twilight said, sitting down to the girl who was deep in bliss. "Food's here. We need to eat it before it goes cold." She sat up and was handed her food. "Fine. You knew I liked that, didn't you?" Sunset said as the first bite was took. Twilight stuck her tounge out. "Maybe~" Sunset chuckled. "Little minx." Twilight and Sunset has finished eating a while ago, and were now relaxing. Well, one of them, anyways. Sunset has fallen asleep with headphones on, and was cuddled into Twilight's chest. She heard a familiar buzz as her phone went off. Sunset stirred a bit before she cancelled it. MISSED CALL: RAINBOW DASH. 9:56pm A text came through after the she missed the call. Twilight turned off her audio and sighed. @? sent 9:56pm With Sunset, magical emergency? sent 9:57pm Yes, bad. Might end up breaking something. Hurry sent 9:57pm Twilight sighed and looked to the weapons they had found earlier that day. "Maybe we were destined to have them. Not every bit of Equestrian magic is bad, right?" Sunset woke up and removed the headphones from around her ears. "Magical emergency?" Twilight nodded and showed her the texts. "Just thinking of using our weapons. Might come in use." Sunset looked at her and nodded. "You learnt how to use a bow and arrow with AJ. I know how to do some karate and swing something. Let's go." Twilight gave a smile before looking down and replying. were at town square, outnumbered, hurry sent at 9:59pm. omw+sun sent at 10:00pm The next few minutes were full of rain and at some points, lightning. It was scary to imagine them falling off the bike at any point. Twilight felt the pressure of the quiver on her back and she held the bow around her shoulder. Sunset Sunset pulled up nearby and as they ran to their destination, she looked to Twilight. "Fucking hell, Rainbow. Ever heard of the saying "Don't stir the beast?" Twilight grinned in victory and stuck her tounge out. "Probably not, you know how that girl works." "I have no clue how that girl works, and that's what scares me more... somehow."
