Banishment Banishment. Celestia trotted down the dark stone corridors underneath the Chanterlot Castle with a bag full of six precious jewels. Her horn faintly lit up the corridor, lined with doors with bars that were empty for centuries. Except one. Celestia's ears perked up at the distant sound of chains rustling further down the dark corridor. She continued. Forcing herself to take one step at a time towards her greatest source of guilt. Twilight Sparkle. She had sent Twilight to the crystal Empire as a test. To prove that she was one step closer to becoming the leader she was always meant to be. She taught Twilight a simple spell for dark magic. It hadn't corrupted Celestia. She was foolish to believe it wouldn't corrupt Twilight. Twilight wasn't an alicorn. Hadn't been alive for centuries to gain the knowledge that dark magic, as powerful as it was, had consequences. Celestia had heard what happened from Spike. Twilight had to use dark magic to find the heart and ended up opening a staircase in the throne room leading down to a single door that Twilight hopped was where Sombra kept the crystal heart. Spike informed her that it showed his worst fear and assumed it showed Twilight the same. Whatever she saw, he wasn't going to tell. Celestia couldn't help but think that it influenced Twilight's decision to allow herself to become corrupted. Twilight was fine for a while. A bit off but was mostly under control until they found the crystal heart. She used her magic to try and shatter it. Spike quickly got it out of her grasp. According to Cadence, she almost killed him in rage before Cadence intervened. They managed to return the heart to its rightful place before Twilight attempted to take it. That is when Shining Armor had sent a letter to Celestia for help before sending his guards and himself to fight his sister. The sun alicorn had teleported to the Crystal castle the moment she received the letter. She had found Twilight in the throne room. Mercilessly throwing the guards away, either killing them immediately or slowly twisting their bodies until they snapped. Celestia tried to convince Twilight that this was not the right path. She was falling down the wrong path. Twilight wouldn't listen. She tangled Celestia up in roots. Strangling her as she ranted at how much she truly hated Celestia. How she hated being limited in her magical studies. Celestia used the power of the sun to blast her away. Destroying the crystal throne that Twilight sat on a few moments ago. Twilight got up, battered from the blast and shot at the ceiling, causing the floor above to collapse and debris to fall onto the floor. Celestia dodged it, using a shield to defend herself from Twilight's continuing attacks and the debris. Celestia landed in front of her former student, her eyes turning pure white as she raised up on her hooves and broke the floor. Causing it to crumbled and Celestia used her magic to raise them, showing the dirt under and flinging it at Twilight. A large piece of rubble hit Twilight's head. Instantly knocking her out. Celestia came to a stop in front of a pair of powerful unicorn guards. They nodded and carefully opened the large metal door to Twilight's cell. Revealing the hunched figure of a purple unicorn with her back to her teacher. Shivering in the cold. Celestia used her magic to warm the area so her student could be a bit more comfortable before she had to do the inevitable. "Twilight." Twilight's head lifted. Revealing how messy her mane had become with scratches and bruises all over her body. Her ears perked up and her head slightly turned to the familiar voice. The voice she once trusted without question. Twilight let out an insane giggle. Celestia was finding it very hard to find the humour in the situation. "Princess." She let out slowly with clear disgust. "Did I pass the test?" Celestia looked away, trying to hold back her tears before inhaling a deep breath and turning back to Twilight. Choosing to ignore the question. "Do you know what will happen now?" Celestia asked softly. Twilight shook her head. "You are going to banish me aren't you, Princess?" She snapped out. "Because you are afraid of me." "No. This is for the protection of Equestria." Celestia retorted with a bit more authority in her voice. Trying to push down her personal feelings. "You can't hurt me." Twilight whispered, followed by an evil chuckle. "You can't banish me like Sombra. You can't use the elements." What Twilight didn't know is that Celestia had complete control of the Elements. After Twilight had turned dark, the elements had left the ponies who were once the best of friends and returned to the previous user until another one would be found. Celestia didn't feel it was right to give her this information. Not yet. Celestia focused on Twilight, who still had her back to her. Sitting on the stone floor. Surrounded by four walls that contained special power to limit unicorn magic. But not all, unfortunately. Twilight suddenly jumped up and lunged at her. Before Celestia could react, Twilight shot what little magic she had control over and blasted Celestia's horn. Hopping the combined power of her magic and her new power would break it. Celestia was thrown back at the force, causing her to slam into the wall as Twilight struggled against the chains the held her in place that could not be broken by simple magic. She growled and struggled but came to an abrupt stop when she heard the elements scatter to the floor. Sounding like a glass hitting the floor softly. Celestia's eyes open. Her vision was fuzzy but it cleared up enough for her to see the Elements scattered around her. They must have fallen out of her bag at the abrupt movement of being thrown. Twilight's green and red eyes were big in shock. She did not expect that. Celestia considered draining her magic and adding it to her own. That would make her less of a threat...But make it harder to survive her banishment. One day she will return and she will be redeemed again. Just not today. "The Elements..." Twilight whispered. "No! Yo-You can't use them! You are weak! I am the element of MAGIC!" Celestia got up on shaky hoofs. Glaring back at her former student with slight hatred. "You are no longer an element of Harmony, You are evil." Celestia spat out with rage. Causing even Twilight in her current state to flinch. "You chose this, my student. You have chosen your fate." "I wouldn't have gotten anywhere if I kept following you! You were holding me! You are scared that I would become more powerful than you! Without the elements, you are nothing but a weak alicorn! Pathetic!" Twilight screamed in rage and tried to attack Celestia again. Twilight couldn't move much because of the chains and resorted to a magic spell. Celestia easily deflected it this time. "Twilight. I had large plans for you. You were going to become one of the leaders of Equestria." Celestia said in anguish. "But now that will never happen." Twilight growled with increasing hostility. "When I came back, and I will. I will kill you." Twilight spat out. "I only wish I taught you better." Celestia used her magic to levitate the Elements around her. Using her magic to activate them. Twilight screamed in rage and tugged against everything that was holding her back. She used her last ounce of power to try and break the chains as Celestia lifted into the air. A bright light filled the room. Twilight screamed the pain as tears streamed down Celestia's face. "I am sorry, Twilight. I have failed you." Celestia lowered herself to the ground, looking at the now empty chains and empty cold room. Celestia collapsed to the floor in exhaustion and hurt. Emotional and physical pain. It felt like her heart was being ripped out. She allowed the elements to drop with a clatter. Not caring about her duties. Just allowing herself to feel the guilt. The pain. She deserved it all...because she failed her student...She failed her friend.
