Durant the snake meets Queen Chrysalis
Durant the serpent has an encounter
Load Full StorySir Kevin of Durant slithered through the forest of Okla'homa, determined to find his way to the Land of States Golden. He knows where he is headed.
He notices some fat berries hanging from a bush. He slides over and bites one off.
"Ssssssweet," he said to himself. "Yet ssssssssour. Interesssssting. But I musssst get on." And with that he continued.
Durant slithered incredibly fast for a snake. You could even call him a serpent. No other snake dared challenge him. When he rose up he was almost as tall as a young human, much taller than any other snake.
Durant was so immersed in his thoughts of The Golden State that he failed to pay attention to his surroundings. He eventually realized where he was and stopped.
"Hmmm," he said. "I don't recognisssse thesssse treessssssss....."
Durant slithered in a few wide circles to get his bearings. He still didn't know where he was.
He pondered how he was going to get to The Golden State when he heard a rustling in the tall grass and leaves that covered the area of the forest he was in.
"A predator?" Durant said to himself. "Or a victim? I wonder...."
He stealthily slithered over to the spot of the noise to find out.
Queen Chrysalis was confused.
She had no idea where she was, and no matter how hard she tried she just couldn't convince herself that she was still in Equestria.
She didn't know what creatures she would find here, but did her best to stay alert. Anything smaller than or of equal size as her she could deal with. Anything bigger than her might be a problem.
She picked a direction and began to head that way. She noticed that the trees didn't get smaller or more dispersed after a while of walking, so she knew she was deep in a forest. An unfamiliar forest, but a forest nonetheless. This wasn't bad.
Chrysalis stepped on a particularly pointy tree branch and snapped it. She stopped for a second and cursed silently while listening for anything that might have heard.
She picked up on the sound of slithering, stealthy slithering. A serpent, she thought. She prepared herself for the thing to rise and attempt to strike her, but nothing happened. The slithering sound ceased.
Chrysalis refused to believe that it was gone. She surveyed the ground around her, peering through the tall grass, looking for something, anything, that would give away the creature's position.
She heard the slithering sound again and started to move, but before she could she felt a particularly sharp tooth sink into her rear left leg. She lost her footing and tripped, falling face first into the thick grass.
"Ow!" She said, her voice slightly muffled from her head facing down. She lifted it and turned to see a snake. A big snake. But not like the ones she had seen. It appeared to be very tall, rising a good two feet above her. She lifted herself up and stared the thing down. Her leg didn't bother her that much, meaning the bite had been virtually harmless. Just to trip her, she assumed. Give the snake an opportunity to survey her.
"Who are you?" she demanded. The snake looked her in the eyes and said, "I am Durant. And you ssshall not assssk my name, asss thissss information will be ussselesssss to a decsssseasssssed creature."
Kevin of Durant slithered over to within a few feet of the creature. It was much taller than him, but based on it's legs Durant assumed it was a horse. It was black, and it's legs were very thin, with several large holes that confused Durant. He wasn't sure of this species, and decided to find out. He slithered closer to it, and in response the creature attempted to move. Interesting of it to be able to hear him, he thought as with lightning-quickness he burst forward and bit her with his sharpest tooth, known as The Three.
He didn't bite down too hard nor did he release his venom. This wasn't for harm. This was for security. The creature lost its footing and tripped. Durant slithered closer and saw that this horse had a few more large holes in its long, dark bluish-green mane. It also had a horn, which bewildered Durant. This creature seemed purely mythical, and the fact that it was here displeased Durant.
"Ow!" it said, its voice slightly muffled. Durant slithered a bit closer, looking for a spot to deposit his venom. Other snakes and creatures had given it many names, but his favorite was The Dunk.
Just as he prepared to strike the creature stood up and righted itself, then turned to stare at him. Durant had no reason to be afraid. He knew how to dodge blows. The horn unnerved him a bit, though, as he didn't know what it could do.
"Who are you?" the creature demanded in a female voice with a sort of rasp to it. Durant couldn't help but be amused and surprised. It was interesting that this creature could speak, but foolish that it asks his identity rather than take the opportunity to run.
Durant decided to play along. "I am Durant. And you ssshall not assssk my name, asssss thisssss information will be usssselessssss to a decsssseasssssed creature."
He lunged for the creature's neck, but was met by something hard and flat. He was bewildered to see a semi-transparent shield, like a magical forcefield placed there to protect this strange creature.
Its horn lit up, and Durant watched as a bolt of light shot his way. He dodged it and retaliated with a bite to the foreleg. The creature buckled a bit but didn't fall this time. Durant wasted no time and went for the same leg as the first time, but the creature was ready and kicked him. Durant reeled, his tooth aching a bit from the blow. He slithered underneath the creature and spat acid onto its underbelly. Like every other defense/attack Durant boasted, this one had a nickname. It was known as The Block.
Every creature was vulnerable to his acid except for The Goat. Durant had met with it before, and nothing he tried had worked, forcing him to retreat. The Goat had a band that was vulnerable to Durant but they were protected by The Goat. The band was known as The Cavaliers.
Durant quickly moved out from under his foe as it collapsed, the acid being too much. It took a moment to regain itself, but before it could, Durant bit the rear leg he had been aiming for earlier. He struck home, this time sinking The Three even deeper. The creature yelled in pain.
Durant was about to release his venom when he was thrown back so forcefully he could call it none other than magic pushing him away. He quickly regrouped and decided to go for the horn. He aimed a shot of acid at it, and it hit it's target. The horn began to emit a bit of smoke. Strange, thought Durant. But no matter. He had won.
"Who are you to challenge me?" Durant hissed.
"I am Queen Chrysalis," the creature responded.
"Clearly you are not from here," said Durant. "But I sssshall asssssk not what ssssspecies you are of or what land you come from, but rather why you challenge me."
"If anything, it is you that challenged me," it replied, glaring at him.
"What isss it that you sssstand for?" Durant inquired. "Clearly it isss not peasssssse."
"I stand to rid Equestria of the royal sisters, Celestia and her sister Luna," she replied bitterly. "And what about you?
"I am not familiar with Equesssstria, nor do I recognize the names Celessstia or Luna," Durant hissed in response. "It isss sssimply dominansssse that I ssssstrive for. I aim to join the mossssst sssssuccesssssful band in the world."
"What? That's it?" replied The Queen Chrysalis. "To be successful? Not to overthrow those in power and rule the world?"
"I am not meant to rule," said Durant. "Only to help otherssss rule over otherssss."
"But with your kind of attack you would be unstoppable," replied The Queen. "I don't believe it."
"You dare question my wayssss?" Durant snapped. "Yet it isss I who hassss won thissss battle, and you who isss powerlesssss."
"I didn't ask for this!" replied The Queen. "I was unprepared!"
"Liesssss," hissed Durant. "You were very much prepared. Your powerssss outmatch mine, but my wit outmatchesss yourssss."
"You make no sense at all!" exclaimed The Queen, throwing up her hooves in frustration.
Durant had had enough. "I shall not wasssste any more time with you," he said. "I'm off to The Land of Sssstatesssss Golden."
And with that, Durant slithered off, satisfied with the result of his encounter. It was yet another foe he had conquered, and he could now focus on finding his way to The Golden State. The Queen Chrysalis was left extremely confused, with sore, aching legs, a useless horn, and an acid burn on her underside. This was not what she expected from this world, and she was not happy about it.
She hoped to one day get Durant back.
Author's Note
Aaaaaaand we're back on the crazy train.
I made this because I was bored. But maybe you enjoyed it. If you did, would you want a sequel?
Trying to think of a good way to make a Game of Zones crossover short. Hopefully that gets done soon. Thanks for reading.
