TIME CRISIS: QUICK ON THE TRIGGER
STAGE 1: TOWN CHASE
Ponyville Apartments, just near Café Hay
3 days until the activation of the HALO Tower
"I don't trust what Gladmane is doing!" Applejack stated, pacing back and forth in the hotel room. "Why would he change from his original ways all of a sudden and help Equestria?"
"Well, maybe he actually has changed. I mean, there have been many villains before that have reformed. Discord, Tempest, Starlight, just to name a few," Fluttershy said from the couch, trying to see reason with her cowpony friend.
But Applejack wouldn't be shaken, instead retorting, "All those were because of us! Gladmane just 'reformed' on his own! And I refuse to believe that he reformed himself!" The farm mare then picked up an note in an envelop that she had written and proceeded to walk to the door of the room. "I will find out what that huckster is up to, whether you are with me or not!"
But as she reached out to the door, it suddenly opened and hit her in the face, causing her to recoil back and fall to the floor. Before she could get up, her neck was pressed against something metal and sharp. Her vision came too and she was shocked to see that the Trapeze Artist from Ponet Fantastique was holding her, with some sort of double-bladed, Wolverine-style gauntlets on both of her front legs.
With her was a squad of ponies of different kinds that resembled Royal Guards, only they were wearing modern military suits and were armed with Glock 17 9mm handguns, holding Fluttershy and herself at gunpoint. And only just walking into the room, was the Director of Ponet Fantastique, armed with a USAS-12 automatic shotgun.
"Looks like we caught you just in time, Madame," the Trapeze Artist remarked, as she pulled away from Applejack and took the envelope on the desk, having retracted her blades, "Such a naughty pony you are. Such a note to the Princess would have spoiled Gladmane's surprise!"
"I know that he is up to something! Why are you working for him? You quit his employment all those years ago!" Applejack snapped.
"Because he has changed. Haven't you heard about that?" Trapeze questioned.
"Him changing is a load of applesauce!!! You know that!!!!"
The mare just walked up to Applejack, staring down at her and said to the ex-guards, "Take her away." But as they moved to grab both mares, there came the sound of gunshots from the hall. Down the hall, one of the ex-guards was being barraged with three different caliber bullets. Three Equestrian agents and best friends to boot, a changeling and two pegasi. Akula, Viral Velocity and Danger Dean.
All three of them were armed with only their sidearms. Akula had his tried and trusty golden-plated M1911 pistol in his grasp, a true old legend. Viral was armed with a suppressed Five-SeveN, a gun famous for it's 5.7mm rounds (the same rounds used in the P90 PDW). Dean had a customized Beretta 93R, the only weapon amongst the trio that had an automatic fire capability.
With that guard dealt with, all three of the team stacked up on the door. Once they were all ready, Akula kicked in the door. Of course, the Director and the other troops were ready for them. As Akula kicked in the door and all three of them prepared to open fire, the Director was ready with his USAS-12. However, Viral was the quickest on the trigger and fired a single shot. The bullet hit the Director right in the torso, but it was only a flesh wound.
In response, the guards opened fire with their Glocks. However, their aim was horrible and they easily missed. Akula and Dean peaked around the corner and with little ease, gunned down each of the guards with ease, without a scratch. Seeing where things were going, Trapeze threw one of her claw sets at the door, trying to slice at least one of the Equestrians. However, Akula and Dean ducked back behind the door before the blade hit them, which then impaled in the wall behind them. The Director then used his magic to retrieve the blades and return them to her. With her blades retrieved, the two proceeded to dash out of the building (with the Director running and the Trapeze Artist flipping away) and jumped off the balcony.
As this was happening, Akula had forced his way into the room and spotted the pair running for it and attempted to gun them down. However, he missed all his shots and the two got away. "Fuck, I missed!" He swore, as he stood down and reloaded his 1911.
Viral and Dean followed Akula in and immediately went to help Applejack and Fluttershy. They helped the two onto their hooves and checked on them quickly.
"You alright?" Viral asked Fluttershy, helping her off the floor. "Had quite a fright, didn't you?"
"Yeah. Thank you so much for rescuing us," Fluttershy thanked, once she was back on her hooves.
"Ponies, please! Just get them back on their hooves and let's get these guys!" Akula snapped, beginning to lose his patience.
With that, the Elements were brought back on their hooves. But as Viral and Dean rushed over and prepared to jump the balcony with the changeling, Applejack stopped them. "Wait! They took a note from me! It's in an envelope that they have, a letter to Princess that tells her to investigate Gladmane. If she doesn't get that letter, nothing will be done about him!" She stated, causing the three to pause.
Akula just looked at the two ponies and said, "Don't worry. We'll get it," He then motioned to his friends, as he and Viral jumped from the railing and down into the café below, with Dean providing cover from the balcony. More ex-guards had arrived, to protect their leaders from danger. They began moving through the café to engage the trio, with Akula, Dean and Viral returning fire. Within seconds, all of the guards in the café had been cleared and Dean jumped down to join them. Once the area was clear, the group turned their attention to a group of gathered cars just near the café. But as they opened fire on the ex-guards, a burst from Dean's 93R hit a nearby gas tanker, and caused the tanker to explode, killing the guards caught in the explosion and flinging the nearby cars at the group. Thankfully, the three were able to dive out of the way, but the incident got on the nerves of Viral, who shot Dean an annoyed glare. All Dean could reply with was with a apologetic shrug.
But that little incident was ended, when a massive semi truck marked with Gladmane Industries logos on the trailer and rig roared into the square, before flipping over and scraping on the ground and coming to a stop. Emerging from the top was the Ponet Fantastique Duo, alongside an ex-guard in a green uniform, armed with an F2000 assault rifle. The guard immediately singled out Viral and opened fire. But the mare was able to make it to cover and Akula managed to gun him down. But the Director saw that and turned his USAS on him, but Akula was faster and shot him twice. But once again, the wounds were flesh wounds and the duo jumped down from the truck and began to run for it. And once all the guards in that area were finished, the three friends were in hot pursuit.
This time, there was nothing to slow down the three friends from their target. No matter how many troops that tried to intercept them, Akula, Viral and Dean quickly dealt with them. And it wasn't long before they had chased the duo into an abandoned warehouse.
Thinking that there was a way out, the pair rushed into the warehouse, but quickly found themselves at a dead end. But when they turned around to try and retrace their path, the Director and Trapeze Artist found themselves cornered by the three agents.
"Hold it right there!" Akula barked at them, leveling his 1911 towards the Director's head.
"Just hand over the envelope and come quietly!" Viral added.
The Director and Trapeze Artist just looked at each other. The mare extended her claws and the stallion raised his shotgun, before yelling out, "Over YOUR dead bodies!" and opening fire. Akula, Viral and Dean immediately dived behind barrels, scaffolding, crates, anything they could find for cover. But the Director kept firing and he was soon out of ammo, which gave Viral time to return fire. A full magazine of 5.7mm bullets hit their target, winding the stallion and giving the agents some breathing room.
But they could only catch it for a few seconds, as the Trapeze Artist was on them, trying to get into a position to slice open the three. But when Akula spotted her and opened fire, she leaped away. Using her high agility and all her acrobatic skills, she leaped and flipped all around the place, easily dodging as if it was nothing. But as she closed in to attempt an attack, Akula dodged and retaliated, striking her in the chest and winding her.
While that was happening, Viral and Dean were facing down the Director. However, they were in trouble. The 9mm and suppressed 5x7mm seemed to have no effect on the unicorn, as he proceeded to throw all sorts of barrels, crates and even ladders at the two. Of course, being pegasi, they were quick to avoid anything that was thrown at them. But they knew they needed some extra firepower to stop the unicorn.
"Akula!" Viral cried out.
"What is it, V? I've kinda got my hooves full here!" Akula replied, still trying to land a hit on the Trapeze Artist.
"We can't deal with this guy! Wanna swap?"
Akula just smiled and dived towards her, avoiding an attack by the Artist, as Viral did the same. This allowed the to swap targets, with Akula now joining Dean and Viral facing the mare. The Trapeze Artist attempted to pounce on Viral, but V was quicker and got off a shot, winding her.
Back with Dean and Akula, the switch that the changeling and pegasus did seemed to work. While Dean was still struggling to deal damage, the Demon Lord's .45 ACP rounds did some harm. The Director didn't help himself, when he picked up a red barrel to throw. However, Akula and Dean countered. Akula shot the stallion twice and Dean shot the barrel above him. This caused the barrel to explode, seriously wounding the Director and putting him on the ground. With the Director down, Dean and Akula turned their attention to the Trapeze Artist, who was once again climbing and flipping around the place to avoid Viral's attacks.
But the Director wasn't finished, pulling a RGD-5 grenade from the pocket in his jacket and pulled the pin out with his mouth. "Eat... this," He said, weakly, ready to throw it. However, as he was ready to toss the frag, the Trapeze Artist tripped on a piece of scaffolding and fell towards the stallion, before landing on top of him...
...just as the grenade detonated.
The Trapeze Artist was flung into the air by the shockwave, some of the pieces of shrapnel becoming embedded in her dress. But the Director took the brunt of the detonation, which was mainly directed downwards towards him, killing the stallion instantly.
When the dust settled, the three agents approached the body of the stallion, seeing the heavy mutilation to his body due to the grenade. And Dean was disgusted by what he saw. "Oh, sweet Celestia! That is a horrible way for a director to die!" He exclaimed, holstering his Beretta.
"Dean, that's a horrible way for ANYPONY to die," Viral stated, as Akula did the honorable thing and shut the Director's eyes and his mouth. The changeling then reached into the dead pony's pocket and pulled out the envelope that Applejack made.
"Alright, let's get this note back to-" He stated, before a loud coughing noise snapped him clear of his thoughts. As out of the smoke, emerged a still-alive Trapeze Artist. Apparently (as the Royal Guard would later find out), her beautiful, skin-tight suit was also lined with silicon carbide disks with ceramic lining that were woven underneath her suit, preventing penetration. However, with each hit came massive pain. Thankfully, the disks were able to stop frag shrapnel and she was able to survive the blast.
But when she discovered that her Director was killed by the blast, she was deeply saddened. The three agents only watched as the Artist slowly trotted over to the body of the Director and began to weep. But the team needed to do somthing to help the mare, as sirens were heard in the distance.
