//-------------------------------------------------------// Turning Point -by Zaelex- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// From the Light... //-------------------------------------------------------// From the Light... ...Darkness will Spread... “RUN! FALL BACK TO THE LINE!” “We can’t move! We’re gonna get hi-” “Damnit! FIRE THE CANNONS! WE NEED COVER!” The coast line was pure hell. Royal Guards lay in trenches, not to move again. Screaming could be heard from the wounded, ponies were falling over dead bodies trying to get away from the slaughter. The opposing side, however, was moving across the field. They had no need to rush, the ponies could do nothing to them, cannon shots made dents in the armor, arrows missed, magic bounced off. They just had to point, and pull. One shot, one downed pony. They would soon win this war, they would soon have Equestria. “Ma’am! You need to move back! The enemy is about to overrun the front line!” A Royal Guard called to Twilight, just before he fell to the ground, a hole in the back of his helmet. Twilight did the only thing she could think of. She ran. Ran to where the Princesses were, ran to where her friends were. Dirt was kicked up around her, at her hooves. Dirt became fire, leaving a crater where it was transformed. ...Gryphons and Zebras invade Canterlot... A squad of Royal Guards were thrown into the air, along with dust, their armor falling to the ground steaming. ...A Declaration of War... “Twilight! Over here!” Came a familiar voice. Applejack. Twilight dived into the hole her friend was in, greeted by her other friends. “Phew, we thought we lost you, Twi.” “Yeah, I thought I lost you girls too.” Twilight responded, Pinkie hugging her. That was short lived, however, as a helmet of a royal guard bounced into the crater, having blood stains inside of it. “Did you girls see where the Princesses went?” She asked, managing to pull herself away from the piece of armor. “No, we lost them in the dust.” Rarity said, while holding on to Fluttershy as a means of security. “Oh...well, we need to find them. They’re probably at the back of the battle, near the beach.” Twilight had a hint of confidence in her voice. BOOM! A cannon barrel landed in the hole after a deafening sound. “We can’t stay here, their weapons are hitting too close. We need to go, now!” Twilight panicked, and started to race to the beach. “Twilight! Wait for us!” Pinkie called as she and the other girls followed Twilight. They jumped over bodies, around craters, and through hastily constructed towers. All while the enemy alliance pounded the Equestrian forces with all they had. They had monsters. Lifeless metal beings that roared in the sky, and on the ground. They shot off fire, fire that created dangerous projectiles that nopony could see with a naked eye. The ones that flew, launched a fire that headed straight towards anypony in its way. Then, it threw its fire in all directions, leaving a royal guard’s armor, without its inhabitant. There had to be hundreds, or thousands of Royal Guards laying dead in the area. The Equestrian Forces could do nothing to stop them. Nothing affected the monsters, just made them angrier. Only a handful of the Griffons and Zebras were hit. They were unlucky enough to be too far behind the evil metal. Yet it seemed that for every enemy that the Guards hit, ten more took their place. “We’re backing ourselves into a corner here! Where’re we gonna go when we get to the beach?!” A guard yelled. BOOM! Twilight was thrown to the side by the shock wave from an uncomfortably close round. She tried to get up, but fell down with a gruesome CRACK! and SPLAT!. Blood launched from Twilight’s upper foreleg, some landing on the other. Twilight screamed in pain. Rainbow flew towards her downed friend and picked her up, careful to avoid the injury as much as possible. “T-Thanks Rainbow.” Twilight thanked, voice strained from pain. “Come on! No stopping now!” Applejack called out, noting that they had nothing to hide behind for this stretch of the run. Royal Guards ran past them, cannonballs sailed over their heads. A monster from the sky destroyed the last remaining cannons. The beach finally came into view. The ponies ran towards the trenches the Guard had constructed. When they finally reached the trenches, they looked back at where they had run from. Bodies lay everywhere, fires burned, and the enemy line had overrun the trenches they had taken cover in before. "Girls!" Said a familiar voice, sounding relived. "Princess Celestia!" "I'm so glad to see you! I thought I lost you back there, what happened?" "Err, we sort of lost you in the dust..." Applejack admitted, sheepishly. "Yes, well, I don't blame you for-My goodness! Twilight, what happened?!" the Princess exclaimed when she saw the blood around Twilight's foreleg. "I got hit..." Twilight replied quietly, not making eye contact with Celestia. "My, that looks like a pretty bad wound." Celestia stated, wrapping a cloth around the injury. The ponies just sat there for a bit, nopony talking unless a shell hit near the makeshift bunker. Occasionally a Guard would come in for some arrows, and the Princess would ask for updates on the battle, so far, it was worsening for the Equestrians. "Sister! Sister!" Luna yelled as she ran in the room, bringing the feeling of bad news with her posture. "Yes, Luna?" Celestia asked, failing to hide the worry in her voice. "The Griffons and Zebras have broken through the 3rd Shadow Battalion!" "Oh...my..." Celestia quietly said. "This is just like Canterlot..." The ponies recalled the Canterlot invasion, the sneak attack that left them barely enough time to escape. The ponies that had to be left behind, screaming and beating on the train trying to save themselves. The ponies that were already dead, that had to be stepped over. The ones dying, that they couldn't save. This was just like Canterlot. "Sister...do you think...it's the legend of..." "Possibly...hopefully..." Celestia started, but the bunker started to collapse over them. The ponies quickly rushed out. Only then did they see how close the inevitable fate was. The Guards only had three trench lines left. A roaring sound was heard behind them. A roaring sound that was louder than the others. The ponies turned around and looked. The sky was spotted with metal monsters, coming at them from overseas. Coming straight at them. There were also boats out on the ocean. All of these newcomers fired. Fire came at them, a trail of smoke following them. "This is it...we've lost..." Luna said solemnly as the ponies looked away from their killer. The fire of death came at them. Closer. Closer. WHOOSH! The fire went over their heads. The ponies looked up confusedly at the head of the trail of smoke. Watched as in closed in on a metal land monster. The monster became a ball of fire. The others near it following suite.  The newcomers from the sea, started to attack the enemy alliance. The airborne brought down fire from above, taking down the most dangerous of enemies with ease. The boats took down the front line as they came close. "The Demons..." Well, critics are welcome, since this is my first story I've written where I completely thought it up. So, if you have anythingcI could do better/fix in this, please just tell me!
