I Live, for the very first time
The fires of hell consume me, burning my flesh in their fiery embrace. To my enemy's joy, I die.

I open my eyes and see the beauty of the world around me. The white walls and floor surround me. Happiness fills my mind as a warm blanket swaddles me. The sound of a room full of infants softly snoring puts my mind at ease. In front of me and my current abode is a large portal to another world. Looking past the shine that sticks to the portal is two equines. A male and female, to be exact, they're smiling and looking inside the room at me. I smiled back at them and giggled; the portal equines seemed so proud. I can only hope that they're having as much fun over there as I am over here.

"Come on, buddy, you can do it." I can hear my dad say, standing tall above me. He beckons me from around five hundred miles away and asks me to brave the treacherous journey to him. I stride over to him across the mountains, oceans, and forests through heat and frost. My legs haven't stopped shaking since I started, but I stayed firm. I kept standing and walked across every obstacle nature could throw at me and finally reached my dad. He began to ruffle my short, dark green mane. "Good boy! I knew you could do it." Dad picked me up in his hooves and hugged me. I gurgled and cooed in delight; dad began to laugh. I'm not sure what part was amusing exactly; that trek was quite dangerous.

"Green, what have I said about practicing magic at the table?" Mom was always pretty strict. It became worse when my magic finally set in.
"Sorry, mom," I said and hung my head low as she levitated a plate of vegetables over to dad and me. Thanking her for the meal, I quietly and slowly began to eat my dinner. I knew mom didn't like me using magic; she thinks I'll become some deviant. Who could blame her? What mom doesn't want their foals to grow up as good ponies? Oh, right, I should probably introduce myself.
My name is Green Fields, and I'm six years old. I live in the capital city of Equestria, Canterlot, with my mom and dad. I like it here, everything in Canterlot is pretty, the streets, the buildings, even the plants are pretty. I'll start school soon; I can hardly wait! Mom takes the plate from me and tells me to go study. Yes, even though I haven't started school yet, mom insists that I start studying early. It's nothing impressive, just some equestrian history, basic math, and literature—the simple stuff. My room is pretty small, but dad painted a bunch of really pretty pictures. My favorite is the big smiling sun with a rainbow right under it.
I close my door and go to my toy box; dad painted it too. It's got the royal guard's colors on it, with their emblem in the middle, and pull out my textbooks. The stuff inside is really boring; I already know all of this stuff. I have a secret though, mom and dad can never know, or they'd freak out. Rummaging through my toy box, I open a secret compartment, where inside is a few small toys. I pull out a little pink toy train and begin to giggle with it. The more I read about history, math, ponish, or science, the more I prefer magic. I mean, can you use ponish to take apart a toy train into distinct, separate parts? Besides, I'm technically learning math; I'm counting the toy train's parts; that's math. There are fifty-seven parts in the train, by the way.

Truthfully, I probably could've found my way to the school myself, but it was my first time, so I guess I should be shown the way there. Everything in Canterlot just gleamed with a shine unlike any I'd seen before, so I didn't mind the walk too much. "Okay, Green, you be good, play nice with the other foals, okay? I'll be back later." Mom told me in a whisper. What does she think I'm going to do, set the school on fire?
"Yes, mom, I'll play nice." She turns away and begins to walk back home. "Love you." Instead of saying anything back, she smiles and starts moving faster. She must've just not heard me ... again. She's a busy mare. I entered the classroom, expecting there to be twenty or thirty foals, and was surprised that there were only seven. Probably for the best, I didn't really like crowds.
"Everyone, this is Green Field." Everyone in the room left their seats and walked over to me; smiles and lively chatter greeted me. I had no idea what these foals had been told about me, but I was almost instantly popular. The only available seat was next to a filly called Razzle Dazzle. We all took our seats and started the lesson when I heard the teacher. "Princess?"
Standing just outside the door was the newest princess of Equestria, Twilight Sparkle. She didn't seem happy to be there; I wondered for a second if she was a changeling in disguise. I look away and begin to read my textbook, hoping that everything is fine. "Green Field." The poignant voice of Princess Twilight spoke as my heart begin to race. I drop the book a centimeter from my grasp before Twilight rips the reader away from me and throws it to the ground on the other side of the room. Looking up at her with fear in my eyes only revealed the angry eyes of the princess of friendship. "Y-y-yes P-pri-i" She grew tired of my stuttering and forcefully slammed a slip of paper on my desk.
"I've already spoken with your parents, you'll be attending therapy from now on." With that, she turned away and exited the classroom. I had no idea what I'd done wrong, but all I could do is softly weep.
