And with that, Discord finished writing his fifth letter this month. As his carrier goose took off to the cottage of his dear friend Fluttershy, He started to wonder if he was getting irritating. Surely, All of these letters get to be a bit much... but it was just five. Only following four and preceeding six. Surely, She wouldn't get too bothered by something as trivial as a prime number. But even so, She hasn't responded to any of them yet. What if she- Get that thought out of your head, Discord He reached into his head, pulled out a shouting thought bubble and promptly threw it out. But the things it shouted were still on his mind. There's no way. Fluttershy is just busy. You would be too if you were in charge of an Animal Sanctuary. That's it. She's busy...
That was the most logical thing that could come to mind
but Discord wasn't a logical being
What if she's starting to realize you aren't worth keeping around? That the trouble you cause is too much to warrant? His mind went back to all of the things he did. Trying to take over Equestria, Bothering her friends, Helping Tirek. Dear Faust and Allcroft, How he hated himself for that. Everypony said they forgave him for that. But that didn't stop them from continuing to despise his mere presence later. Who's to say that Fluttershy isn't hiding a hatred for him after using her trust against her. After all, Doing that would keep him from getting his own feelings hurt. And wouldn't that be a kind thing to do?
The thoughts continued to swarm his mind like bees. buzzing the things he doesn't need to hear. Buzzing about how writing about the thoughts that come from his chaotic mind wouldn't interest somepony as wonderful as Fluttershy. And when you keep getting letter that don't interest you, you're going to get annoyed. She hates you. If she ever writes back, she's going to tell you how tired she is of you. and how she's ready to cut you out of her life... Maybe she'll even call off her promise. Why would she keep that for someone she hates? And it's not like any of the others would mind getting rid of you.
"I can't turn back into stone!" At speeds that would make Rainbow Dash go green with envy, Discord started to board up the walls of his home. He began writing a plan to maintain himself for at least a millennia until he heard a knock on the door. "I'm not here right now! Leave a message after the tone!" His house quickly flashed a sepia appearance. but the knocking turned to banging. more and more until the door broke down... revealing his carrier goose. "Can't you be a little more patient?"
"HONK!!" The goose threw a letter at him and flew away as fast as he showed up. Discord held up the letter to find that it was from none other than Fluttershy. It was an invitation to one of her Tea Parties. To Discord, This was his chance to prove that he wasn't always an annoying pest. a chance he would take to show her that he was worth being her friend. He was going to take this chance and give Fluttershy the best Tea Party ever! ...right after he cleans his house
Stand up straight. Impressions are everything With a deep breath, Discord knocked on the door. awaiting patiently for response. The door opened revealing the kindest pony in all of Equestria
"DIscord~!" She quickly wrapped him in a hug and welcomed him inside "I'm so sorry we haven't been able to talk lately. With everything going on at the sanctuary-"
"Say no more, My Dear. I understand completely" With the snap of his fingers, He not only set out food on the table, but tidied up the space for Fluttershy. What if that was too sudden? What if she's offended that I cut her off? What if she thinks I cleaned up because I think it's too dirty for me? I don't! I just want to make her happy! I just-
"How thoughtful of you~" She looked around in awe at the new state of her cottage. Discord let out a sigh of relief as she trotted to the table "And you remembered my favorite salad!" She softly giggled to herself "What's gotten into you today?"
"Can't a draconequus do something nice for his dear friend every so often?"
"I suppose so" She took her seat and began to eat ever so gently. Discord has always been amazed at how every little thing she does has the same grace as an Angel from Heaven. In fact, He's almost convinced she might actually be an Angel. "Thank you for all of this, Discord. You're such a great friend~"
"R-Really?" He was admittedly shocked by this
"Of course! Why wouldn't you be?"
"Well..." The clatter of kitchen appliances interrupted whatever Train of Thought he had. Probably for the best. Knowing himself, He might've derailed it first
"I'm so sorry. Please excuse me" And so, Fluttershy went to see what the commotion was all about. Leaving Discord to ponder on his own. Should he tell her what's been troubling him recently? It would only be another burden on top of everything she's been carrying on her shoulders lately. What kind of friend would he be if he just piled that on her. His doubts will always be there. They will always tell him that he's not worthy of someone as wonderful as Fluttershy. And these thoughts might just be the death of him. But he'll keep them locked up. For the sake of his first real friend. His only real friend. "I'm back~" With that, She returned to the table "Again, I'm really sorry. Angel was trying to get into the Carrots again. The poor little guy just can't help himself. Now, What was it you were going to tell me?"
"...On second thought, It's nothing important. Nothing that some time with a friend can't fix. Now, What's your opinion on Prime Numbers?"
