Skylight Dance
Previous ChapterNext ChapterIt had been a month since I agreed to go to the Skylight Dance, and it was tonight!
“Can you believe it?” I asked June as we jumped with excitement. We were both wearing our dresses that she made us. Mine was white, pretty, posh and formal, and her’s was pink & purple, covered with pictures of lady bugs, cute and frilly.
“No!” June replied. “Our date’s are gonna see us wearing beautiful dresses!”
“Yeah!” I replied. I span around. “How long till it starts?”
“Five minutes!” June answered.
“We better get going!” I replied. We both flew to the dance; I galloped most of the way.
‘When will he get here?’ I thought. I was sitting next to the table the punch bowl was on. I saw a light blue pegasus mare with a rainbow mane.
“Hi.” The mare said.
“Hi.” I replied.
“What’s wrong?” She asked.
“For the past month, I’ve been getting letters from a secret admirer, and he asked me to the dance, and we agreed to meet here, but he’s not here.” I answered, banging my head on the table.
“I got stood up, too.” She replied, pulling me up by the neck of my dress.
“Who by?” I asked.
“Strawberry Jam.” She admitted.
“That sucks.” I replied as I blew my perfectly styled mane out of my face. “What’s your name?”
“Rainbow Dash.” She answered.
“The Rainbow Dash?” I asked. I had heard of her before! She wasn’t just on the sports team! She was the best player on the sports team!
“Yeah.” She answered. She sat down next to me.
“S-Speedy Gal?” A stallion a said to me.
“Yeah?” I asked.
“It’s me.” He replied.
“Who?” I asked.
“You’re secret admirer!” He answered.
“It’s so good to finally meat you!” I said as leapt to my hooves.
“You, too!” He replied. “Wanna dance?”
“Uh, okay.” I agreed. I turned to Rainbow Dash. “Sorry, Dash. I’ll talk to you later.”
“It’s okay.” Dash replied. As the stallion grabbed my front right hoof and walked me to the dance floor, I waved to Rainbow Dash, and she waved back.
“So, what’s your name?” I asked him as we danced.
“Strawberry Jam!” He answered.
“What?” I yelled as I flew back.
“What’s wrong?” He asked as he flew towards me.
“You stood up my friend!” I answered. I flew to the punch bowl, filled a glass with punch and threw it at him.
“No I didn’t!” He disagreed, as he got drenched in punch.
“But Dash said...” I started. But then I realised something. “Dash?”
“Yeah?” Dash said.
“How did he ask you to the dance?” I asked.
“Through a letter.” She answered. “He told me his name and asked me to the dance!”
“I think I know what’s going on.” I said. I flew up.
“What are you doing?” Jam asked.
“Attention everypony!” I yelled. Everypony looked at me. “If you wrote a letter to Rainbow Dash, tell me!” Nopony said anything. “Alright, if you wanna play it that way...” I cast a truth spell. “Okay, then, who wrote Dash a letter?”
“We did.” A brown stallion with a bowling ball cutie mark said, his eyes were swirling from the spell. He was in between a blue stallion with a pin cutie mark and a yellow stallion with an ice-cream cutie mark, both of them had swirly eyes too.
“We thought it would be funny.” The blue one added.
“Why?” Rainbow Dash asked. She flew up, angry and wanting revenge. “Why would it be funny?”
“We don’t know.” The yellow one answered. Dash charged as them, but I levitated her back.
“Why did you use Strawberry Jam?” I asked, glaring at him.
“We needed a stallion to use.” The blue one answered.
“And he seemed like the best choice.” The brown one added. A million things to say ran through my head, including ‘Why?’ and ‘Don’t you have lives of your own?’, but all I could say was:
“Carry on.” I said. I reversed the spell and they all acted as if nothing happened. “Sorry about throwing punch in your face.”
“It’s okay.” Jam forgave me. Was he really the nice guy I thought he was? I think so! “Want to dance?”
“Yes.” I agreed. He grabbed my hoof again and led me to the dance floor.
“I’ve waited so long for this moment.” He smiled.
“Me, too.” I replied. The room darkened.
“Attention fillies and colts!” The DJ said. “Grab your special somepony on the dance floor for the slow dance!” He made the music romantic, and pronounced ‘Slow’ ‘Slooooow...’
“Do you really think I have a hot flank?” I joked.
“Hehe.” He laughed nervously.
“Well?” I joked, as if I was actually asking.
“Yeah.” He answered.
“Haha-!” I giggled. I was interrupted by him kissing me.
“Woo!” Dash cheered as she drank from her glassful of punch.
“Do you mind?” Jam asked.
“She’s only kidding!” I defended.
“
The end.
